Continuing the thread for ladies who are pregnant after MC

Maternity leave is wired, keep feeling like there's something I should be doing. Have just seen DH off to work and DD to nursery then come back to bed, at least I'm getting a chance to nap and try to make up the sleep I'm missing at night due to junior squishing my bladder.

Beginning to wonder if I'm being unrealistic so thought I'd ask you lovely ladies for advice.

My DH has bought us theatre tickets for this Saturday, it's for a show I really want to see and he bought them as a birthday gift before we even knew we were expecting. A really thoughtful gift.

Grandparents are happy to take DD for the evening, the worry is how uncomfortable I'll be sitting for 3+ hours in a theatre. My time limit on a sofa in my jammies is about 30 mins then I'm back on the floor leaning over my ball.

It's be wonderful to have a nice meal out and enjoy the show but will I just end up in pain and grumpy and annoyed at myself for trying?
DH is happy to do whatever I want, including leaving early if needed bit I'm getting so over emotional at not being able to do stuff that I'm wondering if it's better to not even try.

Nousername2015 · 14/10/2015 12:32

Do you know how long the show is roughly? I'm assuming if it isn't Les Mis it would be around the 3 hour mark, including the intermission.
I don't know your level of discomfort but I personally would think about attempting it but I'm not sure I'd go for a meal beforehand as that is more sitting on hard chairs. Maybe take a cushion with you, even better maybe try asking at the theatre if you could be moved to an aisle seat where you could change position a bit more or get up if you needed to (with fingers crossed that you get upgraded to a box if there's space!)
If it is too uncomfortable you could then head home in the interval.

Nousername2015 · 14/10/2015 12:35

I am also a naive first timer and have no idea about the level of discomfort you usually get at the end of pregnancy so maybe don't take my opinion into account too much Confused

cloudjumper · 14/10/2015 13:34

Go for it north Take an extra pillow with you, and possibly ask to be moved to an aisle/side seat? Being in a theatre will provide plenty of distraction (if the show is good). Remember, it will be a while before you get treats like that!

nouser I'm not on mat leave yet - 6 weeks to go! And about a million things to do

mrsdiddlydoo · 14/10/2015 13:46

On hols with patchy wifi...

north def go esp if dh is willing to support you and leave early if it comes to that. Take whatever you might need to be comfy and see if you can be moved to an aisle seat. The distraction of the show will help you get through it. Make the most of getting out whilst you can.

Totally shattered here. Real problems sleeping. Loads of wriggling movement a lot if the time which is so reassuring.

Sorry your holiday was a bit rubbish paws. Closer to scan now though.

Got to go fit a cream tea in soon. I have no space inside me and 9 weeks to go. Must be able to squeeze one in somewhere.

Allmychildrenhavepaws · 14/10/2015 21:27

Enjoy your cream tea diddly! And your holiday x
dobby glad you're aware of the potential risks, sounds like you'll be fine, great that there's support if you should need it, should the thoughts and worries become overwhelming ! Most ocds will be triggered by an event that we had no control over, hence we begin to try and control everything else (which another lady previously said) x
north I hope your evening out goes as comfortable as possible x

Allmychildrenhavepaws · 14/10/2015 21:29

18 days till 12 week scan, on my birthday 2nd November! We did have a hb at 6 week scan, so feeling hopeful, still no bleeding etc etc Smile

Absolutely bloody awful insomnia though Sad

Rebeccaelizabethxo · 14/10/2015 22:02

Hello ! Seem to have fallen off the thread ! Hope everyone is well, very jealous of those of you on Mat leave, I've got 3 weeks and 5 days to go (not counting honest). Well after a nice chunk of symptom free time, I'm now 34 weeks and feel like the struggle is real- sickness is back, fanny daggers in full force, sleepless nights, sore ribs and fatigue... Good job it's all worth it in the end :)

Nousername2015 · 15/10/2015 01:45

I'm sure there's someone else on mat leave but can't for the life of me remember who. Sorry for the mix up cloud

rebecca counting down at your stage is very respectable. Counting down at mine however (9 weeks 5 days) is completely not but that's what I'm doing!

mrsd You've put cream teas in my head now. I live in the grim north so there's little chance of going out for one so may have to get baking. I am possibly the world's worst baker, this has the potential for disastrous results!!

north have we all talked you into going yet??

You may already be aware but today is global miscarriage and infant loss day. There is something called the wave of light supposed to be happening at 7pm tonight where people light a candle for their losses. I'm not into organised public things such as this really but may have a candle burning later this evening when dh is out.

26+1 here today and (dare I say it) have jad a couple of days this week where I have enjoyed being pregnant. Baby seems to have settled into a movement routine, bump is starting to get to the point where bending down is a struggle, and if I were to go into labour the little one has a decent chance. Did get myself a count the kicks wristband though as movement tracking is a bit of an obsession.

Nousername2015 · 15/10/2015 01:50

Meant to also say that we are here to help that 18 days go as quickly as possible paws so natter away. Everything is sounding very positive for your scan.

Also forgot to say glad you're having a good holiday mrsd, I'm assuming you're south coast way? And hang in there rebecca, the symptoms sound unpleasant but the end is in sight! Well done for sticking work out until 38 weeks too, I'm lazy and heading off at 35.

northdownmummy · 15/10/2015 07:35

Yes, you've helped convince me that a date night is just the thing to distract me .

I hadn't known about today being a special day for remembering the little ones we never got to meet. I've a silent tear rolling down my cheek as I type this, will be lighting a candle tonight. Such a lovely idea

I'm counting down to ML too rebecca, only 6 days (2 x 3 day weeks) left for me, whoop! Feel like it's about time though, when I sit down at my desk bump is right up to my chest and very uncomfortable.

Glad you're starting to enjoy pregnancy a bit more nouser.

Not long now until your scan allmy, though I'm sure it feels like an eternity! Fx for a good result.

Enyou your night out north! DH will probably take a half day off when I'm on ML so we can go out to the cinema one day while DD1 is at school. Also went out for lunch yesterday, got to make the most of having that time just for the two of us before DD2 arrives.

ToInfinity · 15/10/2015 12:01

Can I join?
5+4 wks pregnant with #2. Had a mc in May at 6 weeks.
Since last night I've been having pretty nasty cramps. No bleeding yet and the cramps are starting to ease but I'm still worried.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thank you!

cloudjumper · 15/10/2015 14:04

infinity Welcome! Cramping is very normal in early pregnancy, unfortunately, we are inclined to expect the worst! I had cramping and back ache all the way through my first trimester, and everything is fine so far! It is so worrying, though... The first trimester is not fun! Hope it will all calm down soon and that you can relax a bit.

I feel really shaken today. I had an awful dream last night, about having another miscarriage, and it took me a long time to realise that it was a dream when I woke up! All too familiar... I've been very anxious about movements today - baby usually is more active in the afternoons than the mornings, but has now finally sprung into action, phew!
But it was horrible. Just when you think you can get some distance...Bam! Miscarriage, the gift that keeps on giving Confused

carrie1008 · 15/10/2015 16:45

I'm newly pregnant...so new that I haven't even told my OH yet (he's on a course until Sunday). I've had two miscarriages in the last 18 months, one a MM at 11 weeks and a "failure to grow" at 8 weeks. I'm petrified that this won't work out too. I really want to try to get an early scan in a few weeks, but don't know if my EPU will accept a referral from my Dr...anyone got any suggestions? Smile

BabySocks · 15/10/2015 17:44

I have found epu are happy to accept a referral from the GP, and some let you self refer although not mine.

Hey infinity hope the cramps die down ams it is just normal stretching, I worry about evert little pain but then remind myself I didn't have any pain at all with my last miscarriage so you really can't tell.

winterland · 15/10/2015 19:20

Can I join? I'm terrified. i should have been 23 weeks pregnant this week. had a mc at about 5 weeks. So really early. Ive had one very short period since then and i randomly took a test. lines are dark and strong. I've no idea how far along or if it was a false positive (cheapy internet test). I've been doing OV tests throughout the last month or so and got a faint line on most so wasn't sure what was going on!. I'm so scared if its true then I'm going to lose this one too. I'm already feeling / imagining cramps..

Allmychildrenhavepaws · 15/10/2015 22:54

Thanks nouser, I will pop in every now and then Smile
metal ouch, sitting at a desk sounds very uncomfortable, you'll be on your maternity leave soon though, not long!
Welcome newbies, cramping is very normal early on, I had it around that time and was convinced I would mc, its just stretching though so try not to worry too much x
winter if you've had a period, and now have a positive pg tst, I would say congratulations (all be it a hushed one) as long as you've had a negative pg tst after mc then a new +hpt would be definate....the positive ov tsts after mc would have been because you still had pg hormones in your system, as pg and ov tests pick up very similar hormones (hence why when pg you would obtain a +ov tst)
FX for you x

Allmychildrenhavepaws · 15/10/2015 22:57

Enjoy your night out north! Smile

mrsdiddlydoo · 16/10/2015 19:33

Glad you've decided to go north enjoy it tomorrow night!

Welcome new faces winter, baby socks, carrie and infinity. Wishing you many uneventful months ahead of you.

What a horrible dream cloud. Dreams like that can be so haunting. Glad movements picked up. Keep wriggling baby!

I'm from the grim north nouser but live darn sarf now and we just spent a few days in one of our favourite places in Dorset. Need a holiday to recover. Dh had a cold all week and has been hard work but still v helpful with DS and the ice creams and cream teas went down well. I get full so quickly at the moment I really need to try to eat less and more regularly but I'm rubbish at remembering to!

Can't believe another week has gone by. Find we are talking about the baby a lot more now, even DS keeps checking if its coming out yet.... Via my belly button obviously... Cos that's where baby's come out of... But do find we end sentences with 'assuming the baby makes it'. Just can't quite give in to the fear it might not happen still.

winterland · 16/10/2015 20:40

Oh dear, I never did a pregnancy test after mc. could these still be latent hg hormones?

mrsdiddlydoo · 17/10/2015 15:18

winter so your mc was about 18 weeks ago? And you've had one short period in that time? Or have I misunderstood. I wouldn't have thought after all this time that it would be associated with your last pregnancy but might be worth getting checked out or calling epu/gp for advice. Did you see anyone about the last mc? Could you be further along than you think? Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you x

winterland · 17/10/2015 20:36

Thanks mrs D, yes sounds about right. i did see the epu and they confirmed mc. i did a cb digital today and it said 3+. not sure if thats good or bad..

MyNameIsSuz · 17/10/2015 20:41

I'd talk to your doctor winter, they will probably want to send you for a scan to check how far along you are. What made you test - I know you said it was random, but did anything prompt it, are you having any symptoms? How are you feeling generally?
