What would you do? Bleeding 3-4 weeks pregnant [graphic image warning added by MNHQ]

Last night I discovered this upon wiping at around 10:30pm
Since then when wiping I have a small amount of brown discharge. This morning it is still their. I have checked internally and the blood looks like very old blood.
I found out I was pregnant Monday confirmed all week by home preg tests .
My period was due at the earliest tomorrow which would of made this cycle 35 days and my last six cycles have been 44 42 38 41 37 35 so could be even later than that I'm not sure. So I don't see how this can be breakthrough bleeding as even though ive only tracked the last six cycles i dont think ive ever has a 33/34 day cycle. Scared of a chemical as I found out so early.
Had an argument with the bf about it as his not concerned at all.
What shall I do? I've taken the day off work, I took the day off yesterday to go to the doctors and now this.
I can't keep taking days off.

Honestly, I'd go to work and try and keep busy. I know that is far easier said than done. The problem is its so early along and there's nothing that can be done to prevent or save anything at this stage. [Flowers]

Do you think this is normal.Im in no major pain and still just old blood when wiping surely if I where to loose it would if started now?
Could it be breakthrough bleeding 2 days before period could 'possibly' be due as I'm irregular.

I would try not to worry about it easier said than done and carry on as normal.

I've had small amounts of bleeding with both my successful pregnancies around the time of missed af (and at 6 weeks with dd).

I think it's quite common. Best of luck and congrats.

Thank you. Just upset because its to early for af but because I'm mildly irreugkar who knows .

It is probably just implantation bleeding. It is very common. Sadly, even if you are miscarrying, there is nothing anyone can do to stop it, so when I did, I just stayed home and took painkillers. There is really no reason to think the worst for a bit of blood around the time your period would be due though.

Unfortunately unless things escalate epu probably won't/can't do much. They will scan to confirm an ongoing pregnancy only around 7 weeks ideally. The fact that it's old blood and calmed down is a good sign but the best advice is just to keep calm and carry on. Easier said than done I know Flowers

I don't want you to panic at all, but as someone who has suffered 3 miscarriages, I'd urge you to call your Early Pregnancy Unit. They can do some blood tests to check your HCG levels, but until you're 5-6 weeks, they won't be able to see anything on a scan.
Sadly there's nothing they can do, or anyone can do if things aren't going well. But these units are specifically for issues in early pregnabcy and they are great.
Lots of women bleed in pregnancy and go on to have healthy babies. But I've always been told that bleeding is not mirb and to get it checked out. Especially red blood as its new.

Eurochick- implantation when I tested positive Monday? I thought you couldn't test pos until implantation so wouldn't that of been before the test?

Ill give the GP surgery I think when they open.
Really scared though.

I'm in no pain to and the pain I have felt is much milder than period pains

I don't think there is much anyone can do to help at this early stage unfortunately, it will go one way or the other. A good friend of mine had a very similar situation and now has a lovely 18month old daughter to show for it.

It is one of the reasons why i stopped testing early though, you read far too many stories of excitement swiftly followed by disappointment.

Hi emmalbae I'm in the same kind of boat but I'm around 5 weeks. Yesterday when I wiped I had a bit of old blood and this morning have woke up with around two 5ps worth of new blood (red not brown) I'm terrified and my first doc ap is not till Monday. Help anyone?

You could ring your epu but same as the OP, nothing can be done to eother prevent or save Blonde. Flowers

The problem is that they won't refer you for a scan until the bleeding has been more prolonged, unless you have a history of miscarriage.

I would just carry on as normal and hope for the best.

spoke to the doctor and like she said it will either go one way or the other and that's just something that happens.
she cant conform the likeliness. just want to curl up into a ball and cry to be honest. she reckons im four weeks along. she says they can do a scan if i get heavy bleeding

can you get implantation bleeding four days after a positive test? can it be that it was starting to implant monday and then was getting more 'snuggled in' so to speak

I'd say break through bleeding.. i have had 2 pretty bad bleeds at about 6weeks and then again at about 10weeks.. my doctor.. midwife and epu all said break through bleeding .. i had a scan at 9w5d and they're was a healthy little bean growing away. the midwife said that 'periods' can still happen somtimes as the placenta dosent fully take over until about 12 weeks don't worry no matter how hard it is not to but i would still go to the doctors and see what they say.. take care xx

I had exactly the same and my 4 month old is sitting on my lap right now :)

I went to the epu and was scanned at exactly 5 weeks, told to wait and see and then scanned again at 7 weeks. Was such an anxious time, but it was all OK.

I think it probably was implantation, but who knows, there wasn't a huge amount and it stopped after about 48 hours.

Try not to worry too much (easier said than done) and stay positive

thanks did you get this after a positive test.
every where i read says the bleeding is before a positive but i got my bfp monday evening which is why im wondering if its implantation

Hi OP, I had light brown bleeding all through my second pregnancy right from the week I found out (5 weeks). After lots of trips to the epu and missing lots of work I finally insisted they examine me and it turned out to be a cervical ectropian caused my pregnancy hormones. It was harmless and ds2 is now a happy healthy 4 year old.
You only have to search this forum to see light bleeding in pregnancy is very common (especially in the early days). I know that's not reassuring when it's you going through it but light bleeding isn't always doom and gloom.
Hope you're okay. Hope it turns out well for you.

how stressful, really sorry you and the other posters in a similar situation are having to deal with this.

in all honesty, you'd need a crystal ball to predict whether this will be fine or not. the hospital can't tell you much at this stage and they can't do anything if it is going wrong, sadly. the best thing you can do is to TRY and keep as calm as possible, keep your feet up, look after yourself, and try to distract yourself so that you're not driving yourself mad. you will know soon enough either way.

I had a lot of bleeding (much more than a very heavy period) at the same stage you're at and I was convinced I'd had a miscarriage. But a scan (at 7 weeks) showed my cervix was intact and the fetus was still there. I am now 19 weeks and all is fine.

Even though this is new blood it doesn't mean you are miscarrying. When I experienced the bleeding I talked to a lot of friends and many had also had the same (although to a lesser extent than me), no one ever had a clear reason given to them for the bleeding, it seems it is just something which can happen.

I really hope it turns out well for you, thinking of you as you go through this, I know exactly what it is like.

Re 'new blood' every wipe after that was just light brown and barely a spot which older blood right ?

I'm glad your stories where success stories,
It's not over yet is it and if it is at least I know I'm fertile and can conceive again one day.
Going to try and take a nap as been up half the night

I'm hoping that because the only blood is internal now and that I'm pain free ill be ok. However I have no preg symtomps and apparently your a lot more likely to miscarry without them . I feel 100 per cent normal.

I wouldn't worry about symptoms, honestly. I had none, and spent hours googling it and poking my boobs to see if they were sore. the conclusion is that they are actually a really terrible marker - some people have none and are fine; some people have loads but sadly are not fine. every body and every pregnancy is different. hope you manage to get some sleep, that is absolutely the best thing for you at the moment.

Just to clarify 'new blood' would be bright red. 'old blood' is usually very light, a brownish colour and often just when you wipe.
