Cava I was told that my anterior placenta (at 19 weeks) covers pretty much the whole of my abdomen wall at the moment, but that as the baby, and my abdomen, get bigger it'll cover a smaller proportion and I'll feel more (more blows will miss the cushion as it were). The only movements I really feel currently are the ones straight down into my pelvis, but my baby was wriggling all over the place and turned completely around at least twice during my scan the other day.

In terms of whether a baby can move too much, I wondered the same with DS who it seemed was never still. I'd regularly feel bruised after a particularly active bout. Some babies just move more than others, you get to know what's normal for your baby and that's what matters. It's not expected you'll be able to discern a pattern until about 28 weeks, and it makes sense that having an anterior placenta would push that back by a couple of weeks. If you're ever worried though call your midwife/maternity unit. Don't worry about bothering them, that's what they're there for.

broodylicious · 02/07/2015 07:59

Well that was a rather disgusting night. Hope this weather is on it's way out soon, can't be doing with much more of that carry on in the run up to labour!!

Baguettes · 02/07/2015 08:26

broody I slept like a log last night! Seemed so much cooler - I think rain is on the way! Hope you feel cooler soon.

Jealous of you ladies feeling movements. Can wait for that again. I have a video of DS wriggling around in my belly like some kind of freaky alien. Magic.

cavamonster · 02/07/2015 08:37

Thanks both, I feel better about it this morning and witch that makes complete sense about missing the cushion.

llama I haven't felt what I think hiccups would feel like at all.

Crazy one day I'm worrying too little movement next too much - never ending Smile

Baguettes · 02/07/2015 09:14

I find pregnancy just progresses from one stage of worry to the next...

happygojo · 02/07/2015 10:31

Cava hiccups are just 'rhythmic' taps in the same spot for a little bit but my baby doesn't have much of a sense of rhythm! I didn't feel any for ages but recently I have felt them a few times.

Littlelady33 · 02/07/2015 10:43

Cava I have googled 'reduced movement' and 'increased movement' on the same day before. Like baguettes says it seems to be just a case of switching from one worry to another! It sounds likely that the placenta has moved meaning that yore feeling more. Your mw would be happy to talk to you I'm sure though if you're concerned. When in doubt I just call and they generally put my mind at rest.

Zeuxippe · 02/07/2015 16:04

Congratulations cloud!! Really pleased your results are so good Smile

Small I hope the labour is going well. It's a bit cooler here, hopefully where you are too.

Well I managed to get the Harmony done privately yesterday evening so am desperately hoping for a low risk result. Not sure what we'll do if it comes back high risk, still don't think I could go through with an amniocentesis.

Pissed off at work today. A colleague who I trusted has just told the girl who works for me that I'm pregnant!! I'm absolutely furious with her Angry. Can't believe someone would think that's an acceptable thing to do!! AARGH

Gr33dyeggs · 02/07/2015 17:24

Hi all.
I will be following for news smallbear & hope things are progressing well.
Regards movement id say mines very varied still at 22 weeks maybe attributable to an anteranterior placenta.
It's a little cooler here today after a storm last night and hope everyone is feeling some relief!
Lovely scan news too.

cavamonster · 02/07/2015 22:44

It is indeed one worry to the next, I was thinking last night that it was amazing more new mums didn't end up mad from the 9 months of worry! Makes sense little if the placenta had moved.

That's rotten Zeux, hopefully she just didn't think, some people don't think do they!

happy would the hiccups feel thumper the rabbit tapping it's foot?? Smile that's all I can describe it as.

I'm going to take them as hiccups then Smile...

Looks like it's going to be another hot one today but at least it was a slightly cooler night than the previous!

Baguettes · 03/07/2015 06:13

I have a private scan today. Please send positive vibes around 11am Grin

I'm still sick, have sore boobs and all that but I'm still shitting a brick about it. Saw a heartbeat at 8+2 (I'm now 9+6) but it's so hard to be rational, isn't it?

Good luck to anyone else with a scan coming up soon xx

Zeuxippe · 03/07/2015 06:24

Good luck baguettes. Let us know how it goes x

Gr33dyeggs · 03/07/2015 07:16

Hope today goes ok baguette

I'd agree with the hiccup description - small regular movements. The midwife told me they are practising breathing when they hiccup.

It definitely looks like another nice day here - not a cloud in the sky. And it's my son's sports day!

Topsy34 · 03/07/2015 07:29

Jus havin a quick look through posts i have missed, sounds like everyone is suffering in the heat! Me too! I heard on the radio that drinking icy cold drinks will heat you up more as it sends a message to your brain.

I had my 20w scan on Wednesday, all is fine! Measuring the right size, eveything where it should be. They said i had an anterior placenta, which is why i havent felt many kicks. Ive been in touch with count the kicks about it and just waiting for a reply about it. We had oir hypnobirthing lady last night, she was lovely and she is writing up a plan of refreshers for us

Littlelady33 · 03/07/2015 08:51

Great to hear about the positive scan Topsy. Baguettes good luck for today let us know how you get on. 37wks here and can't believe I'm technically full term. The first trimester was the longest few weeks of my life the. Time suddenly speeded up and I realise I don't have a mattress for he Moses basket!

cloudjumper · 03/07/2015 08:59

Good luck baguettes! I think the scanxiety will never stop...

Great news about your 20-week scan, topsy

Ladies, has anyone got any tips about how to deal with constipation?! I am really suffering this time, in spite of drinking lots and having plenty of fibre... But it's so uncomfortable, I am in agony when I go, and most times I can only 'produce' rabbit dropping (sorry tmi). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

And I am now sitting here, with my jeans held together by a elastic hairband because I couldn't do the button up anymore...Sigh. Think I'll have to send DH into the loft for my maternity clothes soon...

Treaclepie19 · 03/07/2015 09:42

cloud the doctor gave me fybogel which seemed to help a bit.

Third trimester has sent me the opposite way now!

Eek to being full term little :)

Glad all was well topsy :)

cloud in all my previous pregnancies I have suffered. This time I am eating a daily breakfast of chopped fruit that must contain fresh pineapple, unsweetened rolled oat muesli, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and bioyoghurt. It works, quite predictably actually!

CarrotPuff · 03/07/2015 10:27

Hi ladies, can I join you please?

Just got a BFP this morning and I'm absolutely shitting myself (almost literally, I seem to have loose bowels this morning!).

I'm 29, been TTC since July 2014, had a mc in Jan at 8 weeks. This will be DC2, I have a 19mo DS. EDD 10th of March going by LMP.

I got a very strong line this morning - test line darker than control line Shock but I think I'm a bit further along. 4+1 today. It's so so early still... I'm so terrified, haven't told DP yet...

dobbythedoggy · 03/07/2015 10:50

So pleased to see you here carrot!

brickiemum2 · 03/07/2015 10:56

carrot !!! So nice to see you on this side!

cloudjumper · 03/07/2015 10:57

Welcome carrot Here's to 8 boring and uneventful months for you!

Thanks for sharing advice on the constipation. I think I need to up my intake of fresh fruit, but I am really struggling with that - really don't fancy fruit at all at the moment! Also, another big factor for me is exercise - I am doing nothing at the moment, and I know from past experience that this has quite a big impact for me. Really want to start again, but I still feel so yucky and/or tired all the time...
