Agree with envious re: baby clothes, I think some people go a bit overboard with keeping them wrapped up. I remember being round at my BIL and SIL's house when their second was a few weeks old, and she was dressed in a full sleepsuit, with a hat, under a blanket, even though their house was absolutely boiling.

I'm getting a bit worried that I'm still not feeling much in the way of movements. I'm getting the odd tickling or squirming sensation but nothing obvious. I'd have thought at 17+3 I would be feeling more by now, especially as it's my second and I'm sure I felt DD1 quite clearly around 14/15 weeks. Placenta wasn't anterior anymore at last week's scan either so that can't be the reason. I guess it's just paranoia creeping back in... 3 weeks until our 20 week scan can't go quick enough!

Treaclepie19 · 01/07/2015 10:29

I know it's my first metal but I was really late feeling movements. Nothing I could definitely confirm until nearly 22 weeks.

I've stocked up on a few very light sleep suits and the baby will be sleeping pretty much underneath a fan. Kind of hoping weather breaks before he arrives! All good with 36wk scan. He's head down so in a good position, fluid levels fine and they checked all organs etc again. Consultants let us have a good look on a 4d scan and he has the cutest little chubby cheeks! They think he weights 6lb 10 right now. Midwife spent some time with me afterwards on a birth plan and it was nice to get that done - although I am fully prepared to throw that out of the window if needs be

cloudjumper · 01/07/2015 10:39

metal With DS, I didn't feel any movements until after 22 weeks, so try not to panic. Do you have strong abdominal muscles? They can prevent feeling movements. Remember, your bean is still really small!

I don't like the heat very much either - well, I would like it more if I didn't have to sit in an arctic office... Couldn't bear wearing tights today, but it really isn't that warm in here. I feel for all of you with big bumps, you must really suffer in this weather! DS was born in May 2011, and that year, we had a few super-hot days in March (nothing like this, though), and remember how uncomfortable I felt.
Also, it made me realise that all my mat clothes are completely for the wrong season. Ah well, guess I will have to go shopping at some point slaps herself for thinking too far ahead Grin

It is fun to be in labour on the hottest day of the year! Well, actually, I'm still in the latent phase so I don't even think they class it as labour - the bastards!

I've been contracting since Monday night now. They are strong but not regular and MLU unit won't have me until they are three minutes apart. I went to the MLU this morning anyway as I was going out of my mind a bit. I can't sleep through the contractions, so the pain mixed with lack of sleep was making me panic a bit. Got some prescription strength codeine, which was enough to knock me out for a while and the pain seems more manageable after a snooze. The midwife felt my tummy as it was contracting and said that the contractions are strong, but apparently there's nothing more they can do until I'm four centimeters Hmm

thesmallbear · 01/07/2015 13:31

I've been quite itchy this pregnancy envious. I think they say it's itchy hands and feet you have to watch out for, but I guess you know that from having it last time.

ImnotawitchImyourwife · 01/07/2015 14:18

Really don't envy you labouring in this heat small, I'm only 19 weeks and I can't bear it! Exciting times though! Hope things kick off properly for you soon and it goes smoothly. Flowers

Booked in for a private scan on Monday, partly because I was concerned movements weren't really getting any stronger since the first flutters I felt at 13 weeks, but mainly so DS (age 3) could come and see baby. He's been watching the belly button episode of Nina and the Neurons, which shows an ultrasound, and is utterly fascinated by all things baby. He was absolutely thrilled and kept asking to hear the heartbeat again and again. The sonographer was great and really indulged him, such a lovely experience, well worth the money.

Also discovered that the placenta which was at the top last time we looked is now fully anterior, which explains the movements not feeling any stronger. Was reassuring to see baby wriggling all over the place whilst hardly feeling anything, so I can calm down a little on that front now!

We decided to find out the sex. DH and I would have preferred a surprise, but DS has been utterly convinced it's a girl ever since we told him and got cross if you suggested it could be a boy, so we thought it would be safest to find out. Just as well we did as it is indeed a boy. DS was in denial for a while, but he's come around to the idea now and keeps lifting up my top asking if he can talk to his little brother. I'm delighted, I know you're not supposed to have a preference, and I would have been happy either way after the troubles we've had, but I really love the idea of him having a brother and am getting quite tearful imagining the two of them running around together, thick as thieves, in years to come.

Sorry for the long me me me post, but all of a sudden it feels really real. All of a sudden I'm actually excited. It's wonderful! Grin

Metalhead · 01/07/2015 14:18

You have my sympathies smallbear, I hope things start moving along a bit quicker for you soon! You must be exhausted you poor thing.

Thanks ladies, I will try not to worry too much about movements just yet. Just kind of wish I hadn't felt DD1 so early, but they say every pregnancy is different and it has been 6 years since I was last at this stage, so maybe my body is treating it like it's the first time again... (Unfortunately I can't claim to have abs of steel cloud Grin.)

envious I've got really itchy boobs this time, it's driving me mad! Midwife said it's nothing to worry about though.

thesmallbear · 01/07/2015 14:52

Thanks all Smile

happygojo · 01/07/2015 15:42

I itch too.... I sometimes catch myself mindlessly scratching my belly, which makes me think of the Twits by Roald Dahl and the line 'Dirty old hags like her always have itchy tummies' which makes me stop lol! I also have itchy legs sometimes.... and itchy nipples...... so attractive!

YAY I'mnot

Metal I have a particularly wriggly baby apparently and I wasn't sure what I was feeling until after 20 weeks. Even now I only trust movements if I can see them from the outside.

Still awaiting a call from the antenatal clinic with a scan appointment, I am wondering whether to call.

Oh and I can now officially say 'My baby is due next month' SCARY!

Small I am thinking dilating thoughts for you. I hope things happen soon xxx

brickiemum2 · 01/07/2015 16:42

Good luck small Grin

WombOfOnesOwn · 01/07/2015 17:54

imnotawitch, that's adorable about your DS. small, I hope everything goes amazing for you...you must be so ready to be done.

8 weeks (oh my god, really?!) today...the most pregnant I have ever been...every day I wake up shocked not to be covered in blood (I know it should stop being shocking, but...).

Tomorrow I'm going for a first ultrasound just to ease my mind. I feel like I can't get emotionally attached to this pregnancy AT ALL without seeing a heartbeat and knowing the little guy or girl is ok in there. I keep making stupid jokes about losing the pregnancy and talking about "if" we have a baby instead of "when." I think the early scan will really put my mind at ease and make me feel like there's really something in there, and that it's not just a trick being played on me by a couple of pregnancy tests!

Baguettes · 01/07/2015 18:01

imnotawitch that's lovely! Congrats on your boy Grin

when I totally feel your pain...I'm finding it hard to settle in to this pg.

How is everyone in the heat? I've had to commute back from London; 90 mins on a tube and non air con train. I really did get very hot. I'm 9 weeks. Do you think I've done any damage? Sad

I'm home now with doors and windows open and lots of water.

broodylicious · 01/07/2015 18:07

metal, I was panicking about not feeling baby move too as I'd assumed that any subsequent dc would be felt earlier. It wasn't until 22/3 weeks that I felt anything definite so I'd gone completely out of my mind! Hopefully your lo will show their presence soon enoughSmile

Thanks for the advice on clothes, envious. Dd was born in March so was wrapped up bar the first two weeks of her life when we had a heat wave not dissimilar to now! We've had a few of those Alien moments this time. A very clear knee, lower leg and foot erupted the other nightShock

Sending you dilating vibes small. Sure you have anyway but rotate those hips mama!

little, great news on your appt. really pleased all was well after your anxiety yday. Fab your mw went through a birth plan with you too.

Well, I'm 37+2 and effed off with the heat. The toddler has been an absolute shit this afternoon due to refusing her nap (think she was too hot but she's still a shit for not enabling me to nap as well - we'd been on a long walk early this morning so she could do her scootering before it got stupidly hot but it was too much for me and I really needed a rest!) Hey ho. Tomorrow is another day and all that shiz.

broodylicious · 01/07/2015 18:12

Sorry, witch, meant to say congrats on your sex reveal! V cute your lb is now excited about having a brotherSmile Our dd is desperate for a brother - I think because her cousin has a baby brother who she adores - but we didn't want to find out so we wait and see what the next two weeks brings her.....

Tootle10 · 01/07/2015 18:32

Hi all, hope I'm ok to join? I'm on the other pregnancy after mc thread as well, but would be good to join you all too now that I've reached the 12 week stage.

So stats: 31, no dc, mmc at 11 weeks March 15, EDD 10 January 16.

Currently 12+3. I've been lucky enough to have an amazing EPU and have had 3 reassurance scans at 7+4, 10 weeks and 11+3. All looking good so far. Dating scan on Monday. Nausea starting to fade, definitely feeling bigger round the waist!

cloudjumper · 01/07/2015 18:38

I'm soooo relieved - my Downs risk has come back at 1:932, much better than I was expecting! Given that my age alone puts me at a risk of about 1:50ish, I am really happy with that! Might have a small glass of wine to celebrate tonight Smile

Next milestone- 16-week midwife appointment in 3 weeks.

broodylicious · 01/07/2015 18:45

Great news cloudSmile

Baguettes · 01/07/2015 19:21

Oh cloud that's brilliant, so pleased for you x

Littlelady33 · 01/07/2015 19:22

Great news cloud!

ImnotawitchImyourwife · 01/07/2015 22:16

Great news cloud Grin

Welcome Tootle. Here's wishing you an uneventful pregnancy Flowers

cavamonster · 01/07/2015 23:49

Great news cloud and welcome Tootle....

Hope you are getting somewhere small and are cuddling your little bear soon!

So I have a new worry today...the baby has been moving lots! Which I spent all day feeling nice and reassured and now tonight I'm starting to worry as it's a definite change because it's moving so much and occasionally the kicks seem really low down (baby has been breech all the way through). What's the thoughts can the baby be too active or is it just because it's getting stronger and bigger - I'm 30+5 now?? When we have had scans we have told baby is a constant mover but due to my anterior placenta I've not really felt it - could that have changed?
