Ah broody that is SO exciting! Yay for another thread baby - hurry up little broody Grin

Zeuxippe · 29/06/2015 16:59

Lovely scan news cloud and doctor, congratulations.

Congrats to broody too on hitting 37 weeks!!

Crap news here. Our combined test for downs etc has come back as high risk. Off to the hospital at 9am tomorrow to get the details Sad

Feeling pretty down about the whole thing.

broodylicious · 29/06/2015 17:42

Thanks zeuxSmile so sorry to hear of your results. Do you have any numbers at this stage? My ds results came back as 1:85 but we haven't had any further tests because it wouldn't make any difference to us. It's been on my mind, of course, but scan came back clear of markers at 20 weeks so hoping all is well. Really hope you get the same prognosis xx

Baguettes · 29/06/2015 19:15

Oh zeux sorry to hear that. If it makes you feel any better, a friend has just been given the all clear after having a risk of 1:20. Keeping everything crossed for you tomorrow. Xx

broodylicious · 29/06/2015 19:39

I also forgot to add, zeux, that the consultant we saw for counselling said she had seen a woman a year or so ago who had been given a 1:1 chance of ds....baby was born and not even the slightest hint of ds! My NCT friend was given a 1:5 chance and same outcome. Thought you'd appreciate those positive resultsSmile

Nousername2015 · 29/06/2015 19:42

Sorry to hear zeux, however the odds of the baby not being ds will be bigger than the odds of it having ds. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Metalhead · 29/06/2015 19:45

I'm so sorry to hear that zeux, I know how you must be feeling now as I was in exactly the same position a month ago (seems like only yesterday). Like broody my risk also came back as 1:85, but my Harmony test has since come back as low risk (less than 1:10,000). If that's something you can afford then I would definitely recommend it if you don't want to risk a cvs or amino. I've got my fx for you that you'll get a positive outcome.

Treaclepie19 · 29/06/2015 19:46

Thanks metal and cloud, they did other things :p Stool sample... Yuk.

Hopefully get results tomorrow.

Yay to being full termbroody! :)

Sorry to hear that zeux, hoping you get some positive news.

Thanks everyone. We don't know the exact risk yet, just that it's greater than 1 in 150. Will find out in the morning. Think we will definitely get a harmony test done but don't think I could face an amnio. Having been through 4 miscarriages I can't think of anything worse than triggering a fifth through an amniocentesis.

It's good to hear of people who've been given a high risk rating but gone on to have a positive outcome, thank you Smile

thesmallbear · 30/06/2015 05:27

zeux - I am another one who had a Down's risk of 1/80 and my Harmony test came back as 1/10,000.

Well things have started here. Tens machine tidying me over for now. Baby bear should be here in the not too distant future Smile

DP is sleeping. I've tried but the contractions are too intense to sleep through. I Intend to let DP get some sleep and go to the MLU as late as possible. I was there about midnight to check on the baby's movements and then came home. Contractions are quite often but no waters or 'show' yet.

Thepurplegiraffe · 30/06/2015 06:36

Zeux good luck for the results today, hope they aren't as bad as you fear. I would totally be doing harmony in your position too.

Smallbear how exciting, great that things have started on their own. Hope you are doing ok and it all goes smoothly! Thinking of you.

happygojo · 30/06/2015 06:51

Eek how exciting small! I hope things progress smoothly! Keep us updated when you can.

zeux good luck for today.

I had my 34 week MW appointment yesterday, my bump is measuring on the small side so I am being sent for a scan either this week or early next week. Today I have my meeting with the MD and HR to discuss my redundancy, so all in all I had 4 hours sleep last night. I am so worried about falling at the last hurdle, I hope baby is ok. She is wriggling away lots and isn't measuring THAT out but I am still worried. It is just because she has crossed from above the 50th centile line to below it. It just takes me so long to relax at night that my body just won't let me sleep until it physically can't stay awake Sad

Metalhead · 30/06/2015 07:43

Eek good luck small, I hope you have your little bundle in your arms very soon!

Sorry to hear about your extra worry happy, but as baby is still moving as normal it hopefully means it's nothing serious.

Good luck at the hospital today zeux.

Treaclepie19 · 30/06/2015 08:11

Eek small!!! :)
Hope all goes well.

happy I hope all is ok, I've heard lots of people having this problem and then baby goes on to be just fine. Hopefully that is the case :)

Thepurplegiraffe · 30/06/2015 08:35

Happy I also went for a growth scan at 34 weeks for the same reason and it was absolutely fine, baby was spot on. The sonographer said people get referred all the time as the measurements are so hit and miss. In fact I went last pregnancy too which is why I wasn't too worried this time. It is a good opportunity to see baby and get some reassurance thoughSmile

cloudjumper · 30/06/2015 08:38

small Fingers crossed for you!

happy Did your MW measure your bump with the tape measure? This is so inaccurate, please try not to worry. Are you usually a slim/small person? This could very well have to do with it. I was sent for a growth scan because I was measuring too big when pg with DS, and he was bang on average with everything - it was just how I was carrying, and also that I was pretty huge.

zeux So sorry you are having this worry! How old are you, if you don't mind me asking? Age will push up the risk quite significantly. And remember, it is a risk, nothing is definite. I agree that the Harmony test is a good next step - I wish they would make it routinely available. Good luck for your appointment!

broodylicious · 30/06/2015 08:39

Oooh small, how exciting!! My show didn't come until I was in full on active labour in the hospital and had to have my waters broken so maybe you'll be the same. Looking forward to hearing an update soon xxx

happy, ignore that chart. Not worth the stress and personal blame game they cause. One of the girls in our AN group was severely off the chart - as in less than the fifth centile line - so near the 50th is decent!

happygojo · 30/06/2015 08:42

Looking at my chart, we are talking about less than half a centimetre on my fundal height which isn't much. In the cold (well... today boiling hot) light of day I can be rational. She is kicking away, she HAS grown, she has always measured a teeny bit small as they put me forward a full week at 12 week scan when I knew that was impossible as that puts conception BEFORE we decided to try again after the MC. At least I get to see her again.... although once you get to this stage they are just blurry and grey because they are too big!

brickiemum2 · 30/06/2015 09:08

I also went for a growth scan at 34 weeks with my first for the same reason. He was 8lb 10 when born and I'm only 5ft. Ouch.

nicnicspicnic · 30/06/2015 10:03

Good luck small I didn't have a show either before I went into labour last time and the mw had to break my waters as well. So fx for today. zeux I had the Harmony test last night as I'm expecting my Downs results to be high because of my age (41) It is expensive but I wanted to have more accurate results. Now got a 10 day wait. Fx for you as well.

gingerbreadmam · 30/06/2015 10:03

just for happy im having more regular scans because of baby's leg. i was scanned wednesday and everything falling into the centile ranges apartfromhugehead dates have always stayed the same at the 5 scans ive had so should be 23+6 today. bump measurement yesterday measured 26+2. cant be right. i bet a lot of things affect it although mw claimed it was accurate.

Littlelady33 · 30/06/2015 11:18

Small how exciting! Sounds like a good call to go in as late as you can keep us updated! I have some scanxiety ahead of my 36wk scan this afternoon, this is why I'd tried to avoid appointments later in the day...

broodylicious · 30/06/2015 11:32

What are you worried about, little? Anything specific? Xx

happygojo · 30/06/2015 11:45

Ginger I am sure the head is just because of all the extra brains your baby has Grin

I think some level of scanxiety is normal little, it has even crossed my mind that I will go to my scan and that there won't be a baby and that they will look at me and say in a patronising tone 'I think you have been a bit silly dear, you aren't pregnant'. This is a ridiculous thought at 34 weeks.

I am also scared of baby being too big, too small, too much fluid, too little fluid, blah blah blah. My mum scared me by saying they will possibly induce me if they think baby is small. Which then makes me panic about the house currently being a mess! Anyway... good luck this afternoon little I am sure everything will be fine and dandy xxx
