nouser any kind of spotting is scary, isn't it? Maybe give your EPU a buzz tomorrow if you're worried. Fingers crossed it disappears quickly.

zeuxippe good luck for the scan! Our bodies just take the piss don't they; I have an 8+2 scan tomorrow and my nausea has been better this afternoon. Sigh.

Speaking of scans, can I ask those of you who have had your first early scan after MC how you kept your nerve? I AM SHITTING IT. Did the adrenaline kick in and keep you going? And those who had scans around 8 weeks, what did you see? Thanks in advance.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend Flowers

Thanks raffertys I'm planning on giving them a call in the morning to see what they say, the spotting was faint, not red/pink at all and seems to have stopped now for a good few hours but it has sent my mind into overdrive. Part of my trying to avoid ringing epu is to avoid being on the same bed i was on when i was told there was no heartbeat in march but i wont be the first person to have to revisit that place and wont be the last.
Let us know how the scan goes tomorrow, best of luck. I completely understand your anxiety, but the chances of it being a good experience far far outweigh the chances of it not being so at this stage Smile

Raffertys · 21/06/2015 20:05

Thanks so much llama and nouser.

Llama that's great advice about visualising what I'm going to do...I will do that for sure.

Nouser that's great that it's stopped. Early pregnancy is so difficult isn't it? Really keeping everything crossed that it stays away for you. And totally sympathise with not wanting to go back to the same bed. I found out about my mmc at a private scan so glad that I'll be at the EPU tomorrow.

Also, just to say to everyone how grateful I am for the amazing support on this thread. It's incredibly reassuring to be able to talk to people who have been in the same boat. You guys really do rock. Thank you.

WombOfOnesOwn · 21/06/2015 21:12

Small bouts of nausea for the last few days became a 4.5 hour fight against vomiting on an early-morning flight from Los Angeles for me today. Everyone thinks it's a little crazy that I am so excited about feeling sick!

So what do I do about my crazy dry lips? Already upping my hydration levels. Also, what do I do about the fact that not eating makes me feel sicker, but everything sounds absolutely disgusting to eat?! Sometimes my stomach will be growling, I'll know I'm hungry physically, but the sight of food turns my stomach and the feel of it in my mouth is revolting. I am a large woman who usually has a large appetite, so this is more than a little disconcerting to me. I really don't know how to "force" myself to eat.

gingerbreadmam · 21/06/2015 21:19

i was never sick but never wanted to eat anything even though starved! cereal did the trick for me. quite plain like shreddies. hope that helps.

Raffertys · 21/06/2015 21:23

womb I can totally sympathise with that. It's shite. I find when I know I need to eat but can't face anything that either very bland, shit food (beige carbs - crisps, potato waffles etc) or very fresh food (I've just had eight strawberries for dinner Hmm ) can help.

I have a nice Burts Bees lip balm from Boots which has a lovely tingle to it and keeps my lips moisturised for much longer than Vaseline and the like.

Hope you feel brighter soon Flowers

ginger How are you doing lovely?

Topsy34 · 21/06/2015 21:30

Eat what you can! I had day after day of only eating yogurt, ice cream and cup a soups, but then i couldnt bear cup a soups, and still cant!

I couldnt bear toast at all, but found cereal a god send.

Eat what you fancy and dont worry too much, something is better than nothing.

Just watching surprise surprise and crying at everything!! I also just saw a job advert on a local facebook group which made my heart skip, its an apprentice at a cake decorating bakery, the owner is so talented its daft and she needs an apprentice, completely up my street and exactly what i want to do but i cant really change jobs now can i?

Raffertys · 21/06/2015 21:32

topsy if you're teary then avoid the 'Last time you cried' thread in Chat...oh dear god

I changed jobs when I was 14 weeks pg with DS. Go for it!

Nousername2015 · 21/06/2015 21:46

womb plain toast and clover does the job for me. Even when i think i cant face food i can generally manage that but everyone is different! (yes that line again!)
I use nivea lip butter which you can get from boots, it doesnt have a strong scent which is a relief!
Is it really monday tomorrow already? Sad

topsy you never know unless you try Wink Being a cake decorating apprentice sounds like so much fun!

Rebeccaelizabethxo · 22/06/2015 04:32

How is sleep so bloody difficult already ?! I'm only 17+4 but for the life of me I cannot get comfortable. I'm a belly sleeper and I am finding it so hard to sleep on my side, that and battling chronic hayfever makes for such a shit nights sleep.

I am feeling so fed up at the moment Sad I am constantly exhausted on a daily basis. Please excuse the feeling sorry for myself.

Hope the scan goes well today raffertys Smile

mrsdiddlydoo · 22/06/2015 07:52

wombs little and often. Trial and error. I find I'm sick if I'm hungry but sick if I eat a lot of the time. Ice lollies are good esp if you are struggling to drink. Anything with dairy is a no no for me.

Thinking of you today Rafferty
Anyone else got scans this week?

Rebecca my problem at night is I pee for England. Bloody bladder! Are you able to catch up at all during the day? I nap on my lunch break... Sad eh!

topsy cake apprentice!! Go for it!

Raffertys · 22/06/2015 08:26

Thank you for all the good vibes, guys. Here's hoping they work. I'm cacking myself Sad

cloudjumper · 22/06/2015 08:44

Wombs - I found that sipping ice-cold water really helped when I was feeling sick, plain toast with with butter as well.

Well. As of today, I am now officially in the second trimester Shock I'm happy and terrified and the same time. The next few weeks are going to be...interesting, to say the least. My last mc was discovered at 17 weeks, and they reckoned baby had died at 14 weeks...

Littlelady33 · 22/06/2015 09:48

Womb grazing small amounts helped me. Avoid getting hungry as for many people that sets it off. I kept nuts and rice crackers around for emergencies. Although it passed in the second tri for me the sickness is back with a vengeance since 30wks so I feel your pain!

Keep us updated on scan news ladies, hope all goes well. Scan at epu at 1:55 for me, not only will it be the same room that i found out about my mc but its also the same bloody appointment time too. Heres hoping that lightning doesnt stroke twice or that that appointment slot is cursed.

To those asking about ms food, its mini cheddars for me. Bland enough to go down and stay down!

Raffertys · 22/06/2015 11:56

Scan was great Grin

Perfect little bean in there, measuring spot on. Saw the little heartbeat and little leg and arm buds. Have a sweet little picture.

I cried.

Thank you for all your good wishes and vibes, and ooodles of good luck to those who have scans today or this week. Flowers

bluewisteria · 22/06/2015 12:00

northdownmummy · 22/06/2015 12:05

Wonderful news raff

I had a lovely moment yesterday. Lyon on the sofa and little one was kicking strongly in the same spot. I was able to grab DH's hand and he got to feel 3 kicks. Perfect end to Father's Day

Nousername2015 · 22/06/2015 12:11

Yaaay raffertys!

Raffertys · 22/06/2015 12:22

Thank you guys. You are all lovely.

llama I felt like a bit of a knob for crying! I didn't expect to; it took me by surprise, totally.

north That's amazing. Magic. What did your DH think? Best father's day pressie ever!

broodylicious · 22/06/2015 12:54

rebecca, I've got 28 days til my due date and as much as I'm excited about meeting baby, I cannot wait to be able to sleep on my tummy again!! So I'm totally with you.

Sickness "cures" for me in my last pregnancy included anything beige - cheese, pasta, bread, toast, ready salted crisps - and calippo lollies. This time.....erm...... Well......nothing works!
