Gr33dy 3 weeks in theory. Dd was a few days late but they're going to encourage this one along from 38 weeks with sweeps because of gestational diabetes so who knows really. Hoping she arrives naturally but they will induce by 40+6.

Gr33dyeggs · 09/05/2015 11:32

Good luck longest! I had nearly a month with my son because he went over - I was bored and fed up. I'd imagine this isn't the case when dc1 is keeping you busy!

Not long now til our next babies come then!! So exciting!!

I'll be 30 weeks on Monday, it's ridic how fast this pregnancy is flying. Guess it's because I don't go out to work and have dd to occupy me so the days and weeks just whizz by. I've a gut instinct this baby will be early - no evidence or medical history to make me think that, just instinct (and maybe a little hope!)

Littlelady33 · 09/05/2015 16:42

Terrifying isn't it?? I'm almost 30wks now incredibly. The first part of this pregnancy felt as though time had slowed down but now it's really rattling along. Still haven't really bought anything... Should probably address that.

mrsdiddlydoo · 09/05/2015 19:48

Midwife called today to arrange booking in appointment. Its on 27th may. I'll be 10+4 then if everything stays fine. They always do them late round here. It feels so far away.

cloudjumper · 09/05/2015 19:54

MrsD - I've got my booking appt on the 21st, seems so far away, but it's the week after next!
And I've managed to get an early scan for the 17th, my GP was very understanding (after I finally managed to speak to her, the receptionist was adamant that the midwives arrange this - the midwives said no, the GP had to do it, grrr). Getting scanxiety now, trying to take comfort from the fact I've been feeling sick as a dog for the last 2 days Wink

broodylicious · 09/05/2015 20:26

little, don't worry about not buying loads - babies don't need loads and certainly not as much as all the flippin magazines and websites tell you that you need. The way a lot of the girls on my AN thread are going, you'd have thought the shops are going to close the second they go into labour and won't be opening up ever again!

mrsdiddlydoo · 09/05/2015 22:34

Great news about the scan cloud. I'll be here hand holding. We all will.

Boozle80 · 10/05/2015 08:28

I haven't quite got round to buying anything yet either, so this child is going to be naked and nappiless at this rate! I did order a car seat though because of the new regulations they are selling out, so that's my contribution for this month!
Can't wait to start mat leave - I'm working up to a week pat my due date though so still got two months to go!
Big wave for everyone :)

Thepurplegiraffe · 10/05/2015 08:33

31 weeks here and I've bought 1 babygro. Obviously I don't need as much as first time mums though. We do need a double buggy and a sling though and I'm totally confused about both so feeling a bit disorganised.

Littlelady33 · 10/05/2015 09:17

Thanks all that makes me feel less disorganised. I think so long as I have something for him to wear, a car seat and a babygro or two then surely John Lewis can deliver the rest pretty sharpish. While window shopping for buggies in North London a woman tried to sell me a (to be fair incredibly stylish if utterly impractical) £500 high chair. Can you imagine?? Her closing argument was that a Kardashian has one. When I googled that turned out to be true but it wasn't a Kardashian I'd heard of...the whole process feels a bit like getting married again, retailers assume you must have taken leave of your senses completely.

northdownmummy · 10/05/2015 10:23

Totally agree about the sales people thinking we're easy targets. I bought so much stuff with my first that I didn't use.
This baby will be getting a few new vests and babygros, really just to have something new to come home from hostipal in. Oh and a crib because we borrowed the first time round.

My one recommendation to new mums is cheeky wipes. I was given some by my cousin and they've saved us a fortune. Much more effective than disposable wipes and no hassle to just wash & reuse.
I had great intentions for real nappies but the few I bought are stil up I the lift after being used about twice.

Gr33dyeggs · 10/05/2015 16:35

Hi all. I'm having a wobble today. After being so ill yesterday I'm worried I somehow ingested lily pollen and poisoned myself but have googled it and only seems a problem to cats. It's just my bump seemed deflated this morning and I haven't had any of the feelings I had been on my right. And MIL was so excited today. Midwife friday for 16 week stuff so hopefully she'll have a go at finding the heartbeat. I'm seriously considering a doppler - does anyone have one? I have a summer listening device somewhere but I'm sure that's from later on.
purple giraffe I loved my mobile wrap. Providing things go ok, I honestly don't think we will be buying anything - checked the loft and everything is on good condition - it'll almost be retro at 7 years on!

Gr33dyeggs · 10/05/2015 16:37

.moby wrap I loved baby wearing especially as he was such a booby baby - it meant I had free hands!

cloudjumper · 10/05/2015 17:17

I second the OP's regarding cheeky wipes and the moby wrap, both brilliant. And I am a great fan of reusable nappies - I have a whole drawer full and can't wait to use them again.
We still have everything from DS, no need to buy anything at all.

I have felt like death all week and all weekend, the tiredness is unbelievable. I have literally done nothing today, mowing the lawn was the extent of my physical exercise, but I could happily go to bed now. Combined with 24-hour nausea, I feel like something the cat's dragged in. And I'm only 7 weeks tomorrow, urgh.

broodylicious · 10/05/2015 18:09

Aaah little, was it a bloom by any chance? I had dreams of winning the lottery and justifying such a ridiculous cost last time round! They're gorgeous but essentially will still get porridge, cheese spread, jam, yoghurt and sick all over it! Ikea's £14 antilop is just as good although not as pretty, obvs

Treaclepie19 · 10/05/2015 18:17

Sending hugs gr33dy, i was the same at 16 weeks. Had a scan at 17 as I was going crazy.

Remember if your bump has gone down it can only be baby has moved over, they can't have shrunk or disappeared :)

I have my anomaly scan tomorrow. Nervous is not a strong enough word!

Cloud, mowing the grass? You're a better person than me! I'm tired after dusting :p

I had a Doppler. I don't know if I would recommend it or not. The first time I used it at fourteen weeks It took me a while to find the hb and made me panic a bit. By 18 weeks it worked well but I started feeling movements shortly after that so haven't really used it much since. I was going to stick it back on eBay but pm me if you want it gr33dy.

Littlelady33 · 10/05/2015 20:21

Broody it was a bloom! The chrome high chair it's absolutely gorgeous but crazy money. It looks so good I'd be happy to have it in the house with or without a baby. Also I'd concur with the other posts, 16wks is a difficult time... No movement yet and no bump. But it's nothing to be concerned about, if the bump feels smaller the baby will just have moved slightly most likely, although I did nearly crack around then and go for a private scan. That wasn't the only time either!

Littlelady33 · 10/05/2015 20:35

I've also considered a Doppler but the midwives really put me off. I think it might help reassure me from time to time but at my hospital they are very insistent on monitoring movement (when far along enough) rather than trying to use home dopplers. They told me it would be very easy to stress myself out, and that non professionals should use with caution. There's also the iPhone app which is quite new and I must admit I did play with last weekend... I don't think I could pick anything up but the baby was kicking me crazily while I tried, and I think it was a sign I should put the devices down..

longestlurkerever · 10/05/2015 20:38

I think midwives do overplay how tricky they are though. Mine was only a cheapo model but it worked OK. Weirdly I found it less reassuring than I expected though to hear the hb.

Thepurplegiraffe · 10/05/2015 21:02

Thanks Gr33dy I will look into it. Hope you are feeling better tonight, as everyone says, it is a worrying time.

Good luck for tomorrow Treacle!
