kep1979 · 06/05/2015 21:40

I just wondered if anyone took baby aspirin without it being prescribed by dr? I have researched quite a bit and don't see any cons for starting it, and then discussing with GP (can't get appointment for a while) but wondered if others had done similar? I have had two cp and a Mc over the last 30 months, not had any rmc testing.

Gr33dyeggs · 06/05/2015 21:51

I didn't kep but I think my miscarriages may have been caused by infection so have been having regular swabs to catch them early.

Metalhead · 06/05/2015 22:24

envious I don't think it's heartless to feel that way, I never really mourned my loss as the loss of an actual baby either (even though we saw its heartbeat) but rather the loss of all the hopes and plans we'd made for a future with another baby. That's why I never felt the need to mark the date of the mc by planting a rose or anything like I know some people do. I think everyone deals with these things differently, and there's no right or wrong way about it, you just feel the way you do.

kep the latest advice is not to take aspirin unless you have a diagnosed clotting disorder as it can interfere with implantation, but I know people who have done and swear by it. I personally would seek medical advice.

cavamonster · 07/05/2015 02:36

kep I would only take it under guidance from consultant. I was prescribed it due to clotting but it can hinder if you have conditions like pre eclampsia, asthma or affect platelets. Also i think I remember reading it can cause bleeding which may be harmless but cause you a lot of worry.

Only problem being you can't be tested for thrombolosis or TEG when pregnant so unsure anyone would prescribe now.

maybe try eating a kiwi fruit a day, they have lots of similar atributes to aspirins bizarrely without the negatives!

thesmallbear · 07/05/2015 06:21

I don't think there are any right ways to feel after MC. You feel how you feel and that's that. Mine does still upset me though. Littlelady33 - I like your way of thinking of it I couldn't be carrying this baby if that pregnancy had continued. That has helped me I think. I'm very attached to this current LO and wouldn't change her.

thesmallbear · 07/05/2015 06:23

I don't have to be at work till 10am today, but have been wide awake since 6am. How annoying! Especially as I got up about a million times in the night for a wee.

kep1979 · 07/05/2015 06:26

Thanks all - cava that is interesting about kiwi! I took pineapple core extract (bromelain?) from 1-5dpo to aid implantation, so this could be a very fruit-based pregnancy Grin.

Did a cb digital this morning and finally see it in words "1-2 weeks pregnant" which is spot on for 3-4 weeks. Goting to try and avoid doing them too often as they stressed me out, never getting past 2-3 weeks.

CommanderShepard · 07/05/2015 08:26

kep I'm on baby aspirin but only under advice from my GP and consultant as I have a history of pre-eclampsia. I wouldn't take it without medical advice, personally.

kep1979 · 07/05/2015 12:54

Thanks commander - I have decided not to take it, until speaking to GP on Tuesday. I suppose I just feel like I want to be doing something to prevent what happened last time happening again i am a control freak too

Just wondered how early people managed to get scans from EPU for reassurance after a previous mc? I fly to the states on 22 May, when I'll be 5+6 (or maybe a little less as I suspect I ovulated a little later, although seems to implant early so who knows)? I miscarried at 6+2 last time, with spotting starting the day before. So really want to see a healthy heartbeat before getting on the plane, as I am terrified about miscarrying on the flight or whilst we are there (we are away for ten days). So seeing GP on Tuesday to push for referral to EPU so I can get scan/bloods before I go. So if anything looks wrong then we shall cancel the holiday.

Metalhead · 07/05/2015 13:03

kep I had my early scan at 6+6. I think anything before six weeks and you're pretty unlikely to see a heartbeat, so not sure how much reassurance you'd get from a scan at that stage.

cloudjumper · 07/05/2015 13:16

kep I agree with metal - there is no point having a scan until you are at least 6 weeks, even better if you can wait until 8. Even at 6 weeks, it can be really a hit and miss as to whether anything you see or don't see is conclusive.
There really isn't much that can be done/seen in the early stages, it's very frustrating.

kep1979 · 07/05/2015 14:44

yeah I am tending to agree - still going to see if I can at least get some bloods to show that my hcg is increasing as it should, and that my prog isn't awful. I suppose I just want something before getting on that plane!

Littlelady33 · 07/05/2015 15:30

Kep I agree best to wait until 8wks if you can, also I think some EPUs have guidance on when they'll scan you after MC, mine prefer you to be 7weeks at least by your own lmp calculation. Aaaagghh despite my beauf efforts spent the day stressing about baby's movements. He's been a bit quieter the last couple of days... Some movement still but less, and I feel like I need to really concentrate, like they are kind of padded more than they were? So far this pregnancy looks like being 16wks of knocker watch, last 24wks of movement panic. Any and all advice along lines of 'stop panicking' most welcome!

Littlelady33 · 07/05/2015 15:40

*best efforts. And should add that I'm now almost 29wks so in 'count the kicks' territory not that I understand what the guidance actually is!

Jodiesaurus · 07/05/2015 16:42

Can I please join? Mc in January, 2dds and nearly 8 weeks pregnant due 20th Dec with 3rd. Feeling very sick and sorry for myself at the moment.

Jodiesaurus · 07/05/2015 16:50

kep I'm the total opposite although I know Epu is open to me I don't want to have a scan till 12 weeks I'm terrified there will be nothing there. So as long as no bleeding and I feel sick like I do all day at the moment I'm going to wait only a month till scan.

It is an anxious time is it natural to be a little detached after a previous miscarriage?

thesmallbear · 07/05/2015 19:15

Littlelady33 - I don't know if this helps or not, but I still don't have a pattern at 32 weeks. At my 31 week midwife appoint, my midwife said 'is the baby moving ok?' I said she is moving, but that I hadn't really noticed a pattern. I do have an anterior placenta though. I asked if this could be the reason I haven't noticed a pattern and she said 'yes, it is a lot harder when the placenta's in the way.' She said that if I do feel like the movements are a lot less, I should still go to hospital. The thing is it might be a lot less than yesterday, but not the two days before that IYSWIM.

So I've decided as long as I feel her move throughout the day I'm happy. If you do feel you've noticed a pattern which has changed though, please go to the hospital.

thesmallbear · 07/05/2015 19:40

Also, a lot of the time I feel like the movements are more like her wiggling about and getting comfy, rather than kicks.

Littlelady33 · 07/05/2015 20:14

Thanks small he woke up a bit this evening! I'm also of the view that so long as I feel something each day then all seems ok...God almighty there just seems to be an endless list of things to worry about! Current fear for no reason is early labour and I'm terrified of going more than a couple of hours from home!

Amyyy27 · 07/05/2015 20:17

jodie I think it's totally natural to feel detached I know I did until I had my scan as I was so sure the baby wouldn't have made it I didn't want to let myself get attached if it was only gunna be taken from me. Do you have long to wait before your 12 week scan?
