I am 7 weeks 2 days pregnant and have my first early scan tomorrow for a heartbeat (or beats they put two back!).

I have generally been feeling pregnant, cramps, very tired, boobs have got bigger and hurt plus a little bit of nausea when I wake and constant trips to the toilet but even with all these symptoms I am still worried about the scan tomorrow that there won't be anything there or no heartbeat.

Can anyone give me some guidance on what to expect at the scan tomorrow please (plus some sucess stories!) thanks x

PS anroga, I wish I was like you and able to enjoy all my pregnancy!! I don't know if I'm just a worrier or if it's because our house extension is nowhere near finished or because the lodger is STILL not taking the hint to move out, but I haven't been able to relax much. I wish I could as this will probably be the only time I get to do it!

anroga · 23/07/2015 13:39

Ruby I have done my fair share of worrying but feel more contented about it now. I have the pain/ache in my rib cage constantly so I would not worry, my midwife felt the position of my baby last week and said it was down to his boney little shoulders sticking in my ribs!

I don't find much helps except rubbing it and warm baths, I am currently at work wishing I was at home in bed, feel exhausted today!

Last week my baby was 2cm bigger that 28 weeks, he was measuring 30 weeks but she confirmed this is nothing to worry about they allow 2-3cm either way. Often they have a growth spurt and then slow down again.

I have had the same problems with midwives and appointments from day 1, i feel the support we get it non-exsistent to be honest, I have felt all the way through that I have done it on my own with the help of the internet, a book and of course our thread!

Hello ladies it sounds like there are some sizeable bumps on here. I'm glad for your sakes that the weather is not so hot.

I had my 16 week mw appt this morning, all well and got to hear its little heartbeat. I have a little bump now, not much, but something to show Smile. Am also feeling lots better - much less nausea, much more energy, thank goodness.

Ruby I hope you are feeling a bit better soon, and that the little rubies get their feet out from under your ribs xxx

RubySlippers77 · 27/07/2015 06:21

Hope everyone is well and not too damp….. can't believe how much rain we've had recently!! It means I've had to abandon the fit flops and actually wear shoes for the first time in ages!

Glad you're feeling better cat, the first few weeks were quite debilitating for me, I was so sick and/ or tired most of the time and of course hadn't told many people about the babies, it was a tricky time! It sounds like you have a cute little bump Smile

Anroga I thought the care pathway would be much better defined than this, but when you see the midwife seems to depend on which GP surgery you go to and/ or how busy/ efficient your midwife is - not very reassuring. As I've had scan and anti-D appointments forgotten about too, I'm checking a lot more things now, as I'm sure you are as well - as you say, usually from other sources!

Went to the hospital on Friday for a check up as I hadn't felt the babies move as much; wasn't sure if I was being silly but then I thought, we're always being told to contact them if we have any worries, so why not?! Anyhow they were very good, put me on a monitor for a while and said everything was fine, which put my mind at rest. I think the babies must be getting bigger and have less room to move.

Technically we have 10 weeks left to go now and I'm definitely not feeling prepared gcerron - we have loads of baby stuff in storage but it all needs washing and sorting, not to mention moving into the house - I had a big panic on Saturday when I looked at our (less than half built) extension and thought, how on earth will this be ready?! And when will the lodger take the hint and move out, at least for a while?!? Still not sure I've finished panicking…..

Blackandwhitecat3 · 27/07/2015 09:58

Maybe you should start putting all the baby gear in the lodger's room, instead of in storage? Wink. Must be quite tough. Can you give him written notice?

Good luck with the builders and the move, and glad to hear the babies are ok

whittlefish · 27/07/2015 12:00

Hi ladies glad to hear you are all doing well pregnancy wise. Just a quick update from me, am officially on Mat leaver now and not sure what to do with myself haha. Still 37+2 so baby could technically arrive any time Shock when I had my last consultant she said to have sweeps from 38 weeks which I'm not too sure about as I've heard it can be painful if you aren't dilated still if it helps baby on the way. Must say I'm struggling to sleep though as keep getting up for toilet trips and getting pain in my hips. Hope you ladies are all coping well x

RubySlippers77 · 27/07/2015 23:02

Hope you manage to enjoy your mat leave whittle and that things aren't too painful for you. The weather getting cooler must help!

LOL cat, I would really like to do that, start stacking stuff outside his door as a big hint!! He's a lovely chap but I'm just so frustrated trying to think of ways to prepare for the babies without spending loads of money, and it would really help if he wasn't here. Mind you he did go on a date last night - first one in over two years! - so who knows, maybe he'll be out more seeing this lady or another one?!

gcerron · 02/08/2015 20:37

Hi girls!!! Wow whittle 37 weeks, your baby will arrive really soon!! It must be so exciting!! Good luck and keep us updated please!! All the best and as people say in Greece I wish you just one pain!! Everybody wished me that when we were there for holiday in June!!
ruby we are quite close as well, I have still 11 weeks to go unless my boy wants to pop out earlier!! Shock
Yes it seems that in the last weeks the baby is not as active as before and you have 2 probably in your case that is happening earlier.
I got my glucose test results, all good but my level of iron is falling!! If anyone has some advice please? I am having more red meat, spinach, dry fruit, and on Monday I will collect iron supplements, but I am worried about the constipation!!
Anyway I am glad that everybody is doing well!! We are getting there!! Fingers crossed for all of us xxxxx

Gillster · 03/08/2015 06:08

I think taking vitamin c (eg a glass of orange juice) at the same time as your iron rich foods/supplements will help with increased absorption. Can you take a few prunes etc too to keep things moving Gceron?

whittlefish · 03/08/2015 11:12

Well one and a half weeks to go and I can't wait to be honest starting to get really uncomfortable and impatient. Doesn't help that sleep seems to completely elude me and 3 people on my antenatal course have already had theirs. Still I'm sure she will come when she is good and ready.
ruby can't believe your lodger still hasn't left maybe you should just leave his stuff outside and change the locks haha.

Hope everyone else is doing well will keep you posted if baby makes an appearance

gcerron · 05/08/2015 17:12

Thank you Gillster I will consider the orange juice after my supplement. By the way the midwife forgot to request it to my Gp, she apologised and it seems that I can collect it tomorrow in the meantime I continue taking pregnacare plus.
I hope everybody is doing well!

whittlefish · 07/08/2015 11:37

Hi ladies I had my mw appointment yesterday and all was good although bump is measuring a bit bigger but only by a cm or so, still think she will be a big baby Shock anyway she phoned me back when I had got home to say ask if my consultant had put in my birth plan that I could go to the mw led unit to give birth. I said that we discussed it and she was happy but nothing had been written down so mw advised that if I have the baby this week ie before my dd that's fine but my scan that was scheduled for 40+5 has been moved to next week to make a plan, I guess for induction. That means I'll have to go to a different hospital if needing induction which I really don't fancy. I know ultimately it's what's best for the baby and me but feel and bit gutted and worried that they moved the scan forward although DH says he remembers the first consultant visit they said they would want to induce before 41 weeks prob as IVF.

Hope you ladies are doing ok and professing well and hopefully getting to enjoy some sunshine and not melt

RubySlippers77 · 10/08/2015 06:27

Good luck with your little one putting in an appearance soon whittle and that you have a lovely experience, wherever you end up….. from what I've heard induction is more time-consuming than anything else but remember it's completely your choice, you don't have to have it if everything is fine with you and the baby. Out of interest why does your baby being an IVF one make a difference? I had an ANC clinic appointment last week and although my IVF twins are now both breech, they're going to do a C section at 38 weeks if all goes according to plan till then!

And no, the lodger still hasn't taken the hint, it's very tempting to move him out especially as we really need the room now!! My cunning plan is that the health visitor is going to do a home visit soon and hopefully she will help me to make OH see that it's just impractical for him to continue living with us!

whittlefish · 10/08/2015 08:34

I'm not sure ruby my midwife said from the beginning that I might have consultant appointments as being IVF they sometimes like to keep a closer eye on things which is fine as its meant more chances to see baby. He first guy said they may look at considering earlier induction being IVF as I don't think they like to let it go too far your due date. Maybe because they worry that as there has already been intervention they want to play it say it case thing deteriorate quicker towards the end not sure. Anyway he said it wasn't set in stone so will see what they say ok Thursday. Hopefully this little lady will an appearance all on her own, I know induction isn't the end of the world but much rather labour take its course.
Fingers crossed the health visitor can help with your lodger it's really he last thing you need at the moment. Can you get authorities to evict him or is it more you OH not keen to kick him out?

How is everyone else doing I have forgotten where everyone is in their journey? X

gcerron · 10/08/2015 17:14

Hi girls!! Interesting comments regarding the due dates. In my case if nothing happens until October 15th when I will be 40 weeks exactly. I will begin the induction that day. My midwife said they won't allow me to pass the 40 weeks once again due to my age!!

Lately I am so scared about the delivery day!! The uncertainty is killing me because it can happen a variety of options all of them I imagine painful!! I am not that brave I know Blush
All the best for Thursday whittle and keep us updated please FlowersFlowers

RubySlippers77 · 17/08/2015 07:13

Any news on your little girl whittle? Are they letting you go past your due date?

I wonder why your age makes a difference gcerron? Apparently in other countries a pregnancy is full term at 41 weeks anyway! At the end of the day though, as long as we have healthy babies, nothing else matters really Smile have you considered hypnobirthing techniques to help you? I haven't looked into it yet as we're 90% likely to have a c section, but my NCT friend says it's helped her.

My babies are still breech, we have another scan two weeks on Wednesday to see what's happening with the little monkeys, but I think they're too big to turn now….. they just wriggle and kick instead!

In other news, the house is upside down as we're having it all painted (OH's last minute decision!) which means all the furniture is in the living room and we have no way of cooking, washing, eating etc at home till Friday. Aaarrggghhh! Plus I can't spend too long indoors because of the paint fumes. Men don't really think these things through, do they?!

The health visitor's coming on Thursday - to wade through paint fumes and plaster dust, at the moment - but in the meantime, we caught the lodger's daughter stealing from us Sad we'd missed bits of money here and there for ages but it wasn't until OH had 20 pounds go missing whilst we were at the cinema and she was indoors that we decided we had to do something. We bought a little alarm clock with a built in CCTV camera, left it in our bedroom, and what do you know….. next time she's home alone she was straight in there stealing money and having a good nose round. It was horrible, it made me feel sick just watching it as it clearly wasn't the first time she'd done it. To be fair the lodger was mortified and said he couldn't believe she'd do it, but I've told him I don't want her back in the house; he offered to bring her round to apologise and take her home again, but as she's promised her mum she didn't steal anything (despite the CCTV evidence!) then I don't really see the point of listening to her lying.

whittlefish · 17/08/2015 09:21

Oh ruby the fun just goes on with your lodger doesn't it bless you x
Well I had my scan on Thursday baby looking good and a healthy 8lb4 eek! Anyway we we saw the consultant after he was basically like "why are you here and having extra scans" me and DH were a bit miffed and like because we were told to come and assumed it was because we were IVF so they monitor things closer. He just basically said well everything else looks fine and just being IVF shouldn't make a difference! Honestly made me feel a bit silly for being there but it was at their request. We have never seem the same consultant twice and seems one thinks one thing and another something completely different. Anyway he was happy for me to continue as normal so no induction until after 41 weeks like normal which is a bit frustrating as now back to waiting! Hopefully having a sweep today or tomorrow so hopefully might shimmy things on a bit, getting very impatient now tho grrrr

Blackandwhitecat3 · 17/08/2015 15:43

Hello ladies it sounds like things are starting to get exciting for some of you. I haven't been on for ages so it's good to catch up with your news.

Gcerron I love the idea of "one pain". That would be magic.

Ruby I'm very disappointed to hear the furniture is in the living room and not the lodger's room Wink. What a nightmare with the stealing. Has she returned everything she took? I suppose you have no way of knowing exactly how much she has stolen over time... I think your OH should be soaking his paintbrushes in little pots in the lodger's room Smile.

So I'm 19 weeks today and I have to say that I feel fabulous. I have hardly any nausea now, although I'm getting some indigestion instead, but I feel wonderful and have lots more energy. I'm also eating well. A proper glow.

This morning I took my sharps bin to the Drs to dispose of it. It felt like a proper milestone and a transition from IVF to just pregnancy. A good feeling!

Well, I hope your little lady gets a shifty on soon for you whittle, you must be looking forward to meeting her. Ruby has your mw shown you the exercises to try to move the babies round? I don't know if it works with two of them in there, there can't be much wriggle space.

Gillster · 18/08/2015 08:21

Exciting times Whittle, not long now, keep us posted.

Ruby, why is your lodger still there? I'm afraid I'd have definitely been asking him to leave after the stolen money incident. Good news about the decorating though even if it is chaos at the moment. I'm starting to think about decorating the baby's room but we need to get to the bottom of why there is a crack in one of the walls. Hoping that it's superficial.

I've also been told that I won't be going beyond 40 weeks due to my age which is fine with me but would certainly like to get things going naturally if possible before then. Have you tried any pregnancy yoga classes Gceron? They might be able to calm you down a bit. I've been to my third one now and think it will be really useful.

20 week scan for me tomorrow - excited and nervous in equal measure! As of yet, haven't bought a single baby related item apart from maternity clothes.

whittlefish · 22/08/2015 12:26

Had a massively scary morning woke up and baby was very quiet and she is normally really active. Tried moving around , drinking etc but didn't want to move so went to the hospital and then monitored us and all is fine. In fact as soon as they midwife felt my bump she started moving the monkey. It was so scary tho being this close now all kinds of terrible things went through my head but so glad I went in the mw was lovely and didn't make me feel silly at all. Had another sweep while I was there and booked me for induction on Thursday Confused really hoping she arrives before then. Would definitely say tho that if any of you are worried about movements always get checked to be safe. Hope everyone else is doing well? gillster how was your scan, did you find out the sex?

RubySlippers77 · 22/08/2015 15:11

Hope you are home now and relaxing whittle, what an awful morning. Better safe than sorry I guess - at least the hospital looked after you and everything was ok! Fingers crossed your little monkey arrives of her own accord before Thursday Grin

I'm hot, sticky and fed up - sobbed earlier at the tiles shop - OH left me there whilst he 'popped home' to drop off some tiles, 40 minutes later I was still there in the boiling heat with no water. Plus the painter and tiler haven't turned up all week so the house is a state, and the lodger has gone on holiday with all his stuff still in his bedroom, we can't even set up the babies' room for another fortnight. Feeling a bit despairing at the moment and can't see how we can possibly have everything ready...

Hope everyone else is good and enjoying their pregnancy experiences more than I am at the moment!

whittlefish · 22/08/2015 16:36

Oh ruby bless you this heat is really uncomfortable and definitely enough to push you over the edge of your already feeling a bit emotional. Maybe you and OH could go out for a meal or something to get you out of th house and away from the chaos for a bit, might help relax you. I had a bit of a panic around 37 weeks and didn't have loads of stuff and was worried that we wouldn't be ready but actually a trip or two to mothrrcare etc and we were sorted I'm
Sure you will get there xx

Blackandwhitecat3 · 22/08/2015 18:14

This heat is tough isn't it? Ruby I'd be moving all the lodger's stuff out of the baby room and into boxes while he's away. When are you due, my love? I think it's time your DH realised lodger has to go.

Whittle glad things are ok. You were right to go in and get checked. I was reading about reduced movements yesterday, you didn't waste anyone's time.

I have my scan on Tuesday. Quite excited. Would like to feel some movements soon though.

RubySlippers77 · 26/08/2015 07:58

How are things going whittle? Sorry I couldn't ask before but with MN being down for so long I'm taking the opportunity whilst I can!!

The babies are due at the end of October cat, but as it's twins it'll probably be more around the beginning of October. Hoping they hang on for as long as they can to give us time to sort the house out (new kitchen arrives the week after next - yay!) and so I have a little bit of relaxing time whilst on maternity leave ????

I think OH is now on board with the lodger situation, but stops short of actually wanting to ask him to leave! He says the lodger's sure to want to go once there are two small babies in the (small!) house, plus his daughter is banned after the thefts, plus OH is going to put his rent up to a normal rate - he was paying reduced rate because there was no kitchen, and he's managed to get £700 behind with that in two years...

How are things with everyone else - any news, ladies?

ToesAndFingersCrossed · 29/08/2015 17:50

Hi ladies, not sure if you remember me I posted in this thread right at the beginning as some of us cycled together back in January. Sadly I had an mmc and dropped off, but jut thought I'd pop back to last you all know that we just had a FET cycle and I'm tentatively pregnant again! I've been popping back every now and again to see how you're all doing, hope that's not creepy of me!!
