I am 7 weeks 2 days pregnant and have my first early scan tomorrow for a heartbeat (or beats they put two back!).

I have generally been feeling pregnant, cramps, very tired, boobs have got bigger and hurt plus a little bit of nausea when I wake and constant trips to the toilet but even with all these symptoms I am still worried about the scan tomorrow that there won't be anything there or no heartbeat.

Can anyone give me some guidance on what to expect at the scan tomorrow please (plus some sucess stories!) thanks x

I'll probably get that jab then, always best to be on the safe side I reckon ??

whittlefish · 28/05/2015 09:43

I know what you mean fab it always makes me chuckle when they say what size the baby is never seems big enough if you ask me apparently mines an aubergine but doesn't seem anywhere near big enough for how big I feel! Grin

Blackandwhitecat3 · 28/05/2015 09:47

Whittle (and anyone else who's past this stage), I'm due to stop taking cyclogest on Monday when I get to 8 weeks. Slightly nervous about this. How did it go for you?

St4rfish · 28/05/2015 10:52

Hi everyone, just been catching up on the thread. Glad to see everyone's positive news! I have been struggling with being completely shattered for the past few weeks so haven't been on here much. Currently 10wks, literally counting the hours until 12wk scan appointment (this is the point we didn't get past in my previous pregnancy two years ago, so a big milestone for us) We did have a private scan a few days ago for reassurance and everything was looking good, baby moving around and waving, heard the heartbeat too (would totally recommend BabyBond if anyone is thinking about scans and has a clinic near them)!
Cat I only took cyclogest for the first two weeks after transfer and when I stopped I had probably two days of sludgy light brown discharge, but then it settled (have had pale yellow discharge pretty much ever since). I was worried about not taking it anymore as well but was told that my body would be producing enough hormones by then, so if you are at 8 weeks you will be more than fine I'm sure. I would look forward to not having to shove those horrible little fanny candles up there if I were you! Grin

whittlefish · 28/05/2015 12:12

cat I had to take mine till 12 weeks but was still a bit scared to stop like that was the reason I was still pregnant. Funny the things you think about. I could t wait to not have the horrible discharge from the peasaries not have to wear liners but I've had lots of clear/milky discharge ever since which is completely normal but means I couldn't wave good bye to the liners grr. Physically tho didn't notice much difference so hopefully will be the same for you.

Good to hear from you star and so pleased all still going well for you. Can't imagine how much of a relief it must be to get to this point after not making it last time. I sympathise with the tiredness but it does get better in the second trimester and you almost feel normal again until you start getting bigger and more tired again lol

Blackandwhitecat3 · 28/05/2015 20:30

Tmi alert I've been a back door girl with the cyclogest which has had the added benefit of keeping things moving, if you know what I mean, bit worried that will also change when I stop!

Thanks for the warning about discharge - good to be ready for it.

Star fingers x for you for the next two weeks...

mrswishywashy · 29/05/2015 14:08

I took Cyclogest three times a day for twelve weeks. Back door for me as well which kept me regular. Now one day away from been 17 weeks and have to be careful of my food intake so I don't get blocked. Meant to ask midwife about the stuff you can get to help but forgot.

Gillster · 30/05/2015 10:53

I'm on twice daily Cyclogest until 12 weeks. It never ceases to amaze me the inconsistencies in everyone's treatment. Hope the next 2 weeks fly by Star until your scan. In fact I hope the next 5 weeks fly by and we can all hopefully get ourselves past the magical 12 week mark.

I think some bra shopping is inevitable next week. I'm now down to 2 bras and it's not enough. I feel like my boobs have gone up a couple of sizes but have now stabilised. Is this similar to others past the 8 week mark?

Blackandwhitecat3 · 30/05/2015 11:00

Same for me with the bras Gillster, I went up massively a couple of weeks ago and bought 2 new bras, now boobs seem to have settled. Still not sure I dare buy any more yet though!

I just don't understand why for everyone else it's 12 weeks on cyclogest and they've told me to stop at 8. I was sure at ET they said it would be 12 weeks so I was surprised when the nurse on Tuesday told me to stop at 8. It felt a bit like she was picking a date out of thin air. I might ring the clinic on Monday and check.

Just had a massive row with 'D'H about NCT classes. He thinks they're a waste of time - it's all right for him, he's not going to be the one giving birth!

whittlefish · 30/05/2015 11:05

I think I went up 3 bra sizes but evened out about 15 weeks I think, went and got myself measured and was amazed at what size I was. Now wearing some of the most unglamorous non wired bras but they are comfy. Def recommend getting measured after the 12 week mark.
cat we were very undecided about nct classes as you have to pay for them but decided as we don't have family close by might be nice to meet other parents etc for support. We start ours next week so will let you know what they are like if you want?

Blackandwhitecat3 · 31/05/2015 18:06

Whittle I know friends who've done NCT have found that meeting other parents was the most helpful bit. Yes please, do let me know what the classes are like.

Verkey81 · 31/05/2015 21:59

I'd love to hear how you get on with nct, I'm undecided but I don't know many Mum's in the area so may be a good idea! I'm all booked up for ante-natel at the hospital and they do a 6 week session at the children's centre that's free so I'll go to those definitely :) got our twenty week scan tomorrow so time to find out if everything's OK and of course ... Girl or boy!

whittlefish · 01/06/2015 07:24

Good lucky for today verkey how exciting that you are finding out. It's lovely to know. I will let you girls know I have the first NCT one on Sunday we are doing the NHS ones as well so my be overkill but there are only 2 sessions of those and they have scheduled them 5-8pm I'm going to starve lol

Fabuluce · 01/06/2015 10:55

Good luck Verkey, let us know how it goes!

whittlefish · 02/06/2015 16:44

Any news verkey?

Verkey81 · 04/06/2015 19:13

Ooo sorry busy week at work! Healthy little baby boy! Long legs, big head and all organs healthy! I can feel him now too, it's the strangest thing ever! X

whittlefish · 04/06/2015 19:41

Oh that's fab so pleased for you, wait till he gets a bit bigger then the wriggling sensations feel very odd but in a good way

Fabuluce · 05/06/2015 09:49

Brilliant news Verkey - well done Mini Master Verkey!

gcerron · 06/06/2015 00:09

Hi girls!! Back here after maybe a month , sorry about that but it was a really busy one between job and an exam.
Congratulations verkey a lovely boy!! Good that you feel him now !! How is that sensation ? I am little bit curious since I don't know if some not frequent noises and wrigglings is me or my baby??
Welcome to the new mummies that joined this last month I am glad this is a lovely group.
Just a quick update from me , I had a harmony test at my 15 weeks, everything was fine and I will have also a boy!!! I'm beginning my week 21 today and on Tuesday 9th June I will have the next scan!! I am little bit nervous and I hope everything is going well !!
Some symptoms that concern me and I think none of you have it is that this week I am finishing the day with my anckles little bit bigger than usual!! The next morning is fine, I was reading about it and it could be due to I work in an office plus this week I was sitting down most of the time studying for my exam. I will ask the doctor on Tuesday but I wonder if you know something else about it?
Enjoy your weekend everybody!!! Flowers

Verkey81 · 06/06/2015 09:11

Hi gc glad you're doing well and also having a boy :) sounds like you're probably right about your ankles, maybe try doing some ankle exercises whilst sitting down and keep the blood flow moving, or get up every now and again and walk up and down? But best to check with the midwife if you're worried at all?

Are you excited about your scan? I loved this scan as they go through every part of their body and measure them to make sure he's OK, we even saw all his heart valves! After all the stress of ivf, seeing we had a healthy baby and seeing every part of him was such a relief, I cried even more than the last scans!

Symptoms wise, I'm now huge and had my first stranger comment on my pregnancy yesterday, was a bit embarrassed to say I still had 4 months to go as I clearly look full term to some people! I brought a pregnancy swimming costume yesterday so off to do that from Tuesday :)

I'm getting loads of pains across my abdomen, but I read this is normal now and I've been using my creams since day one every day so hopefully if it is stretching etc, it won't scar too much! I think... Dare I say it... But I think my sickness may have subsided this week :) I still carry a pack of ginger chews just in case but fingers crossed!

gc the movements I can feel are definitely this fluttering or quickening, it's like her palpitations but in my tummy, or like a bubble popping, it took me a week or working out if it was the baby or just me but now I'm sure! I can now start to tell when he's awake or asleep!l, normally awake last thing at night and he likes a lie in.... At the moment Grin

Anyway I'm off nursery shopping today to try to find boys things that aren't toooooo blue! hope everyone is OK and looking forward to more updates!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 07/06/2015 10:22

Congrats gc and Verkey on your boys, and good news gc about the Harmony test.

I think swollen ankles are common in pregnancy, particularly in the later stages, your midwife will definitely have some tips but I think if you keep moving around and also get your feet up for part of the day it will be better.

Well after worrying so much about stopping cyclogest I cut down from Monday to one a day and then none since Thursday and (touch wood) I've had no withdrawal bleed or anything. Since Monday (8 weeks) I've been feeling sick so I figure my hormone levels are already right up there and don't need any more help Wink.

I was watching baby kangaroos wriggling around in pouches last night thinking "that'll be my belly in a few months time". So exciting.

Verkey81 · 07/06/2015 10:46

My clinic told me I was staying on the progesterone until 12 weeks because they hadn't changed their policy yet and actually the research suggests you don't have to be on it very long anymore! I started my 12 weeks of morning sickness as soon as I stopped the progesterone as I think my body then had to get used to my own hormones, so all sounds pretty similar for us ivf pregnancies!

RubySlippers77 · 07/06/2015 21:47

Congratulations to gc and Verkey on your bouncing baby boys Grin we have our 20 week scan on Wednesday, looking forward to seeing the little uns again! We aren't going to find out what we're having though (unless there's things we can't miss on the scan!!), I think it's often more difficult to tell with twins anyway.

I was on the progesterone till 12 weeks as well but understand that some clinics stop it as soon as you get a BFP? I didn't think I needed it by that point - sickness started at 6 weeks and only eased off a few weeks ago - but I guess it's not going to do any harm and better safe than sorry.

Thankfully I haven't had any bleeding since the scare a couple of weeks ago, my feet are getting very swollen if I'm rushing about all day; it's a difficult balance isn't it, you have to keep active but not overdo it! OH and I went for a pub lunch and a walk down the canal today - I've been reading that pregnant women should try to get as much sunlight as possible and shouldn't use too much sun cream, but all I seem to have accomplished is a sunburned arm Hmm

Current struggle is to find some decent, reasonably priced maternity clothes - so many stores do them online only now! - including a swimming costume, as I'd like to start swimming and/ or aquanatal classes soon.

And I think I can feel the babies moving now - thought for ages it was my tummy squirming, but actually it happens too often to be that! When I lie in bed at night I can feel their heartbeats - ahhhhhhh Smile

RubySlippers77 · 07/06/2015 21:55

Forgot to say, I'm hoping to get in a bit of 'personal maintenance' time this week - have taken Friday off to get my eyebrows threaded and have a pedicure and facial courtesy of Groupon - and before that I am finally getting my hair done and highlights sorted out on Thursday, about time!!!

gcerron · 08/06/2015 09:36

Good morning girls!!! Thank you for your lovely greetings!! I am so excited about tomorrow scan!! Fingers crossed my little boy is doing well!!

verkey the way you describe all your experience is so emotive and sweet!! I am still getting confused regarding the kicking but on Saturday night I was sure I felt him Smile but I will be patient and wait I think I will feel better in the coming days, it must be over the moon, tracking him and noticing when he es awake or asleep!!

verkey and ruby how has been your swimming experience so far? I think that helps a lot and I am thinking doing once a week. On the other hand, my DH and I are going on holiday for a week to Santorini, I am afraid if it is too hot and it could affect something? And now reading about the sunblock?? Any advice? It's just for one week, we thought it's better to go now than later, it will be the last holiday just we both, if everything goes well of course.
Some suggestions of what to ask tomorrow in the scan please? The consultant said that if everything goes well tomorrow I won't have more scans!! Confused. What about you?
Last week I also went to the hair dressing salon and treat myself with a nice cut and dying my hair with organic products, I haven't visited this place since November last year, so you can imagine my status mainly grey all over!! Blush
Have a nice day girls xxxxx
