I am 7 weeks 2 days pregnant and have my first early scan tomorrow for a heartbeat (or beats they put two back!).

I have generally been feeling pregnant, cramps, very tired, boobs have got bigger and hurt plus a little bit of nausea when I wake and constant trips to the toilet but even with all these symptoms I am still worried about the scan tomorrow that there won't be anything there or no heartbeat.

Can anyone give me some guidance on what to expect at the scan tomorrow please (plus some sucess stories!) thanks x

Congratulations toes!! Very sorry to hear about your mmc but what lovely news to come back to us with Grin I hope this pregnancy is going well?

We're spending the bank holiday getting baby stuff ready, as I'm 32 weeks now - still haven't really come to terms with the fact that in 6 weeks or so we'll be a family, it won't just be me and OH any more!

Hello Toes

Ruby glad you are getting some things done. How's the lodger situation, dare I ask?

I had my scan in Tuesday, all good, baby wriggling around loads (anterior placenta explains why I couldn't feel anything) and all the right organs in the right places Smile.

Currently trying to bid for buggies on eBay.

Have struggled a bit this week with back pain and round ligament pain, but getting through it.

Do you think whittle has some news yet?......

Hi ladies,

Just a quick check in, so pleased for you toes and sorry to hear of your mc hopefully this one sticks for you.
Well Maisie was finally born on Saturday after two days of labour after being induced and forceps birth. All beautiful and healthy for both mum and baby but still sore. Good to see all you ladies professing well still x

So pleased for you whittle!! I hope both you and Maisie (what a pretty name!) are doing well - are you home and recovering now?

Your birth sounds exhausting - hopefully the hospital looked after you Smile

The lodger is currently on holiday cat, I think back Wednesday. He's going to have a shock when he gets back, we've done loads on the house and lots of baby stuff is lying around waiting to be washed - there's a queue for the tumble dryer! He needs to move into the front room ASAP so we can start putting stuff in the babies' room, formerly his room...

Congratulations again whittle, so pleased for you!!!

Congratulations Whittle, has it sunk in yet that you're a Mummy finally? Hope the soreness improves soon.

Hi Toes! Welcome back to the thread and I hope your stay here is very much longer than before. We also had a FET, and am currently 22 weeks.

We purchased our first baby related item this evening - a room/bath thermometer (only to qualify for free P&P from Amazon as I'd bought another item which was less than £20)! I guess we'll get more into buying baby stuff over the next few weeks.

Hi girls, back again, I was busy trying to buy the minimum things that we need to have for our future baby. No nursery yet!!! With my job, duties at home and my lovely big belly I don't have that much time to think and decide, I feel really slow!! Gill I haven't found Yoga for pregnant around my house, I found Aqua-natal classes instead I will begin on Sunday and have 6 sessions before the due date.
Congratulations whittle finally you pass through the labour experience, I didn't know about forceps, but just read about assisted labour now!! many kisses to your lovely Maisie, I imagine the feeling of looking her the first time ever!! I am dreaming with that moment!! Anyway I hope you get better soon from the sore and enjoy the maternity now xxxxx Flowers
Congratulations toes this is the one and enjoy your pregnancy, everything will be fine this time!!
On my side today I begin my week 34!! the main uncomfortable pain is the carpal tunnel in my hands!! horrible mainly at nights and of course I kept waking up every 2 hours within the night but it is a kind of training for the next months hahaha.
whittle any tips for the labour day???? I know every experience will be different, can we really keep the calm and try to relax? my midwife said that it is the best thing we can do, not panic because that wont help, it has sense and I wonder if I will manage it Shock

Report
whittlefish · 06/09/2015 14:18

Keeping calm does help but very hard to do. I found not having too strict a birth plan helpful as you don't know how you will handle the pain. I really didn't want pethidine but had the wait for the epidural and couldn't cope with just has and air so have in. I would say don't rule out anything. I was also amazed at how much water there is when they break, not like on TV at all lol

Thank you whittle I had my second antenatal classes yesterday and I know now the options for pain relief. This uncertainty regarding what is going to happen is terrible Confused
But I will try to be optimistic that everything will be ok and I can't scape just accept the experience Hmm
How are you doing these days?? Are you breastfeeding or did you choose formula?
How is everyone?? Keep posting when you have time girls!!!
I'm at the end of week 35, 5 weeks more!!

whittle I remember you were induced!! Is that the reason for the 2 days of labour?? I will be induced as well if nothing happens at week 40. But still not sure of the procedure, all I know is that they give you a pill to induce the contractions.

Hi gcerron, I'm not far behind you, 33 weeks now with the twins! Midwife appointment later - my hands and feet are really swollen now but I don't think there's much they can do Sad still, has to be more use than my antenatal clinic appointment last week where everyone waited an hour only to be told it was cancelled!!

And at last I am a lady of leisure, finished work on Friday!! OH has promptly given me loads of paperwork to do for him, as he runs his own business, but at least I don't have to get up so early Smile now if only I could wear pyjamas to his office, life would be all good...

How is everyone? It's very quiet on here, I wonder if we've had a few early babies!!

We have another scan tomorrow and ANC on Wednesday, 34 weeks now and hoping that we get a c section date soon, I think it will be at 38 weeks if not before.

House is almost there, kitchen is being installed this week. Most of the baby stuff has been washed and sorted now, just needs putting away. But still the lodger hasn't taken the hint, no mention of him going!!

Ruby I'm on maternity leave as well now, hence my reappearance on here! I have been far too tired the past few months to do anything other than work and sleep! I'm 35+3 and had a growth scan today as they thought my little boy was too big but turns out they just can't all agree on how to use a paper tape measure and my bump is perfect size and my baby is bang on the 50th centile so is a very average size and not huge as I've been expecting. Was pleased to see he had a reasonable sized head as well Wink I'm currently practicing hypnobirthing, not sure if I've left it too late as I've been slow to read the book due to tiredness but I listen to the app with the affirmations every day so fingers crossed this hippy stuff works (my sister swore by it... 5 minute labour) and I have an easy time in a few weeks. Anyone else got any tips for staying calm?! Smile

Hi Verkey, hope the hypnobirthing is helping!! I'm booked in for a c section two weeks today so must admit I haven't looked into it, but I know people it's really worked for :-)

I'm currently back in hospital as my blood pressure was a bit high. Well it was yesterday, today it's been fine but no consultant's been round and hence I have to stay in till I'm discharged, hopefully tomorrow! TBH I feel ok (well, bored) apart from my legs, I have such bad water retention that all I can wear is pyjamas or yoga pants :-(

How is everyone else doing?

Hi everybody!! I am finally on maternity leave from today!!!
ruby wow by the beginning of October you will have your beautiful babies in your arms!!! So excited moments ahead of us now!!! I hope things are sorted with the lodger!! Everything else looks really sorted on your side. All the symptoms are just part of the final stage of the pregnancy!!! and the most important is that your doctor has an eye close to you!! and everything will end up with a happy and exciting result!!

Thank you verkey for mentioning the hypnobirthing!! I am in the final stage however I have my affirmations on hand and begin to practice breathing techniques, relaxation and try to be calmed. I was so nervous before but I am preparing myself.

An update from me I begin my 37 weeks today, I had scan on Tuesday and my baby has big abdomen therefore extra weight, the sonographer said not to worry at this stage the scans are not 100% accurate, My midwife said the same but I prefer to have a gestational diabetes test again to have a reassurance, I think according the result they can suggest the options for the due date!! Originally the scan was just to know if the position of the baby was correct so the midwife can do the sweep membrane trying to induce the labour before any kind of proper induction. The position is perfect but with the result of the abdomen I am little bit concerned, despite they said the opposite. Anyway I just have to wait. Today I will finish everything regarding hospital bags and stuff. I think we are quite sorted in our logistic!!
Girls keep updating us!! I know it is difficult sometimes because we are busy or tired but I hope everybody else is doing great!!! Flowers looking forward to hearing from you!!

Hi ladies sorry been absent a bit but the baby has kept me very busy! Grin gcerron I was induced on the Thursday and gave birth early sat morning. I had pessary first then was put on the drip later on. The only thing I will say about induction is be prepared for it to potentially take a while. I thought in 24 hours we would be done and dusted but it can take up to 72(worse case scenario) having said that it can also be really quick just depends on the person. Try not to worry about it too much if you are induced and just go with the flow just make sure you take snacks and things to occupy you and your partner in case it is a bit slower. I am bottle feeding, I tried breastfeeding but I really struggle and she wasn't getting enough milk so changed. I felt really guilty but the thing to remember is you have to do what's right for you and going to be the best for your sanity and well as the baby.
I'm glad to hear everyone else is progressing nicely and not long to go for many of you, so fab we have all come this far with the finish line in sight. I promise it is all worth it once they arrive x

Any news from you gcerron or are you just enjoying some peaceful time before baby arrives?!

I'm back in hospital and you're so right about induction whittle - most of the ladies on the ward are here to be induced and it's not quick, they're here for a day or so waiting for things to get moving!!

My blood pressure is high again so the doctors decided to re-admit me - c section is a week tomorrow, not long to go but I think they want to limp me on to 37 weeks - the water retention is very painful though, I can only just shuffle around Sad

Any news from anyone else?

Hello everyone and sorry for my silence - I've been back at work and as I now have three roles on top of each other, I've been very busy! Am being careful not to work too hard though, as I'm pregnant....

Bump is really growing at the moment, I feel "properly" pregnant. I'm a bit tired, but otherwise feel really really well. I'm 25 weeks today. I am now under a mix of consultant and midwife care as I used to suffer from epilepsy so they want to keep an eye on me.

Ruby I hope you are surviving in hospital. Glad to hear that things are getting sorted at home, but as usual, surprised to see your lodger is still there!

Whittle thanks for all the tips, and I know a lot of my friends found breastfeeding really difficult.

GCerron I hope you are enjoying your maternity leave and managing to have a bit of a rest. You sound very organised and calm :)

Big wave to everyone

Ruby it can't be long now until you meet your little one?! Couple of days? Any news from you gc? Can I ask, is there a reason you were mentioning induction at 37 weeks? I'm 38 this weekend but no mention of induction etc until nearly 2 weeks overdue I think! Cat make sure you take it easy, I spent my pregnancy exhausted and I think I should have taken it easy from a bit earlier on, it might have helped me enjoy it more!

Whittle thanks for sharing your experiences of induction, it definitely helps take some of the fear away having an understanding of how it works!

I'm not sure if I'm nearing labour or not, I had my 38 week midwife appt yesterday and was having horrendous back pains in the waiting room. The midwife came to get me and then said she thought it was the start of something but the pains went away throughout the day. I was definitely having tightenings, the midwife confirmed that's what they were though I thought it was just the little fella wriggling! I never knew that's what it was, but she said it's either braxton or contractions, only time will tell! I did time the tightenings as my midwife told me to and they were 5 mins apart but as they're not coming with loads of pains I'm assuming they're braxton?! This is soooo confusing!
