I am 7 weeks 2 days pregnant and have my first early scan tomorrow for a heartbeat (or beats they put two back!).

I have generally been feeling pregnant, cramps, very tired, boobs have got bigger and hurt plus a little bit of nausea when I wake and constant trips to the toilet but even with all these symptoms I am still worried about the scan tomorrow that there won't be anything there or no heartbeat.

Can anyone give me some guidance on what to expect at the scan tomorrow please (plus some sucess stories!) thanks x

Hi everyone,
Good luck to everyone having scans in the next few days! Glad everyone is making good progress and starting to relax a bit/enjoy it all. Mine's on Friday so counting down the hours...
Re. the comments about bra sizes in the previous page, I'm another one who has gone up a cup size. They are like hideous veiny udders already! And have also had puffy legs/feet, had an achey leg for a bit last week and convinced myself I had a blood clot! I keep putting my feet up/flexing ankles/getting up from my desk for a bit if I've been sitting too long.
gcerron we're going on holiday as well in July, so also wondering about whether this was an ill-advised booking! I'm not going to sunbathe and other than being careful about what I eat, not sure there should be any other worries? Flight socks maybe?
A quick question for you all: has anyone changed GPs while pregnant? Is it a hassle/faff? I'm losing patience with mine (eg I have to go back to have my bloods done again this week as they have 'lost' mine) My midwife is rubbish and at the risk of sounding like a total snob, it's not in the nicest area so don't fancy taking my potential future baby there (moved last yr so could change surgeries) I'm only 12 wks, should I just do it now before I get further along?

mrswishywashy · 08/06/2015 15:07

Sounds like everyone is going well.

I'm scared today as have some dark streaky jelly stuff when I wipe. Had similar at 12 weeks after stopping progesterone. From consultant recommendation I've been on aspirin for past week so will stop taking it for a few days. I'm now 18 weeks so little anyone can do. Will try to rest up and think positive. Pretty sure I feel baby move and have scan in two weeks. Just hoping more than anything he sticks.

whittlefish · 08/06/2015 21:58

Hi all glad to seeing you are doing well. We had our first NCT class yesterday and I can't recommend them enough I found it so useful and reassuring and didn't feel silly asking anything. She was a lovely teacher too, def recommend them to anyone considering them. Everything going well with me although think k have developed some dreaded bottom problems but guess I have been lucky to avoid this far. Can't believe I only have 10 weeks to go!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 09/06/2015 07:46

Thanks Whittle, good to hear

anroga · 09/06/2015 11:38

Congratulations Verkey on finding out you are having a baby boy, join the club! I am now 23 weeks and went to Majorca last week for our 'babymoon' which was bliss and my little man came alive, moving, kicking and generally having a good time in there, its weird but magical isn't it!

So far I am still feeling fine except from incessant toilet trips and heartburn!

Hope everyone else is going ok, just saw some posts about cyclogest I had to use mine until 12 weeks if that helps x

Congratulations Verkey and hope everyone else is doing well? How are you feeling now mrswishy?

RubySlippers77 · 15/06/2015 08:10

We had our 20 week scan last week and all was well with both babies Grin growing well, OH is 6'2" so they may well end up being tall!! My feet have also grown though, can't fit in many shoes, flip flops are the way forward for now...

RubySlippers77 · 15/06/2015 08:13

Still no update on the hair front though - had it cut so it looks a lot better, but still need to do the roots! Think I will start aqua natal classes this week (and maybe swimming in general, depending on the costs) which should help with general fitness.

Internet is playing up a bit, hence the short posts rather than writing a long one and losing it!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 15/06/2015 08:42

Hi Ruby glad to hear your scan went well.

I think (hope!) I'm at peak morning sickness gaahhhh. 10 weeks today. I'm trying to look at it as a positive sign of a healthy pregnancy.

Hoping to feel up to some exercise in a couple of weeks

Gillster · 15/06/2015 17:57

Sorry you're having such a bad time with MS Cat. Touch wood, I've been OK so far. I've felt a bit ropey from time to time but really can't complain. Have you lost any weight as a result?

We have our harmony test/scan on Thurs and our 12 week scan on 24th. Excited and nervous in equal measure!

RubySlippers77 · 18/06/2015 08:12

How are you feeling now cat? I felt rubbish for weeks, no actual sickness but nausea and tiredness. Even now I still get waves of nausea sometimes, yuk.

I hope all goes well today gill and that you enjoy seeing the little one wriggle around on the scan!

I'm currently having a big worryfest that we won't have everything ready for the babies ???? realistically we need everything done by September 30th in case they arrive early, but the house is still a building site and OH shows no signs of asking the lodger to leave. It's starting to really get to me now I'm hearing other people in our antenatal classes talk about getting the nursery ready! TBH moving in with OH's mum and dad in their granny annexe isn't looking like a bad option...

Blackandwhitecat3 · 19/06/2015 07:45

Pretty rank Ruby, though sometimes I get an afternoon or morning where I think I have a glimpse of (hopefully) things to come - a break from the nausea and a burst of energy and positivity. Looking forward to lots of sleep and horizontal resting at the weekend.

Hormones are all over the shop though, very weepy Smile.

Hope your scan went well Gill

St4rfish · 19/06/2015 17:55

Hey everyone, it's been quiet on here, hope you're all ok!

Gill hope your scan/tests were ok yesterday, how did you get on?

Ruby your house situation sounds stressful! I can't even imagine going to buy things yet (I only allowed myself to look at baby clothes online for he first time this week!) I'm sure you'll get sorted...I'm naively thinking there is very little they will need at the start... Hmm

Cat hope you are feeling ok, you poor thing.

Coming up to 14 weeks here. Had our 12 week scan last week and still quite can't believe that all was well. Had letter from hospital today too saying combined test results have come back as low risk so relieved about that. Touch wood everything will continue to go well.

Hope everyone has nice relaxing weekends planned.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 19/06/2015 19:04

Great news on your results, *Starfish, please tell me 4 weeks from now I'll be feeling great!

Gillster · 19/06/2015 23:20

Great news on the scan Starfish. It's amazing how much develops in such a short time.

We had our private scan and Serenity test (same deal as Harmony but the test is cheaper and the blood will be processed in the UK so we should have the results within 5 working days. There was nothing to suggest that there any issues with the baby from the scan (good nuchal, good heart beat, could see a nose bone and the baby is growing a few days ahead of schedule). Obviously we'll know more when we get the bloods back. We could have also asked to detect the sex from my blood sample but have decided to wait. Given how long it's taken to get to this point, I wasn't worried about about another few more months.

Feeling slightly more relaxed about things now and have our official 12 week scan on Weds do not too long before we get to see Bubs again Smile

whittlefish · 20/06/2015 17:43

cat I remember that stage was horrible like the end will never come but around 12/13 weeks I started to feel less sick and also less ravenous all the time and then it's starts to feel weird, at least for me as my symptoms really reduced and I didn't have a bump quite yet so just felt fat. The not feeling sick though was amazing, it will come hang in there Flowers
Really glad your test results were good starfish and fingers crossed for you gill

Well I'm 32 weeks today can't believe it, seems to be going quickly and not quick enough at the same time lol. We have got our scan in a couple of weeks to see if my placenta has moved so getting a bit anxious about that. If it hasn't moved enough will have another scan a few weeks after then they will decide if I need a csection Confused.

Hope everyone is doing all ok? Smile

Blackandwhitecat3 · 21/06/2015 11:04

Whittle that comment was the most helpful thing anyone's said to me this week. I felt so full of despair yesterday. Have woken up this morning feeling amazing so hoping i have some more days like this this week.

Is your placenta in the wrong place then? Sorry if you've mentioned that before. Hope it sorts itself out.

Gill good luck for your scan on Weds. I've got mine on Saturday so can't quite believe those weeks of waiting are nearly up.

whittlefish · 21/06/2015 17:22

I'm glad it helped cat hopefully this will be the start of feeling better for you. Yes I have a low lying placenta so have another growth scan in a couple of weeks to check baby is growing ok and if the placenta has moved enough for a normal birth

gcerron · 23/06/2015 09:20

Good luck tomorrow gill
whittle just around 8 weeks more and you are done!! when is your due date?? how did the doctor detect the placenta issue? I am in my 23th week and it seems that I won't have another test anymore? So I am little bit concerned. Also could you please advise me how to register to the ntc classes?
Hi verkey how are you doing with the baby boy :) are you feeling his delicate kickings? I began to feel him more frequently now but I can't find a routine of his movements yet.
Ruby when is your due date? I hope things are progressing at home, I haven't bought anything yet either but I understand you considering that they are two!!
blackandwhite, St4 and cat I wish you all the best!!

whittlefish · 23/06/2015 09:47

15th August gcerron not long to go at all now I must say as much as I'm not looking forward to labour I can't wait to have my baby here and not be pregnant anymore. My placenta was detected on my 20 week scan so you would know by now if there were any probs for you. (I would take the no more tests as a good sign Smile) I had another one at 28 weeks and it hadn't really moved then another in a couple of weeks. If it still hasn't moved think I would have another scan aroun36/37 weeks to decide if I need I csection I think Confused
I must say the nct course was brilliant we did the signiture course which was two full days and an evening and found it really useful and met some lovely people. We just booked via their website you can search for availiable ones depending on your due date and location. It was cheap but found it very worthwhile.

gcerron · 24/06/2015 09:54

Thank whittle you for put my mind in peace with your answer. Since I am small I was concerned about the placenta and pelvic issues but the doctor said everything looks normal until the last scan (21weeks) so as you said that is why they don't consider necessary another scan.

I will have a look the ntc classes around my area now!!

I hope you will have better result in your next scan!! Good luck and please let us know when you have the baby with you, I feel the same I can't wait to have my little boy in my arms Smile

Gillster · 24/06/2015 19:02

Good memory Gceron about the scan. All seemed to be well and they've moved my due date from 5th Jan to 1st Jan (still not sure how this works when they know the date of conception). I still need to get my Harmony bloods back but so far so good.

Out of interest, when did people stop taking the Cyclogest pessaries (sorry if this has been mentioned before). I'm also taking oestrogen tablets, did anyone else take these and when did you stop!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 24/06/2015 20:39

Hi Gillster, glad your scan went well. In my experience they just don't understand that with IVF we know when conception took place.

I was on cyclogest and I stopped at the beginning of week 8, with no withdrawal bleed.

gcerron · 26/06/2015 08:31

gill in my 21 week scan, the doctor said that for ivf pregnants they usually find that the baby is slightly bigger than the media, this is because they don't have a clear idea of what day to take as day of conception, there are still job to do in this topic!! Weird...
I had just cyclogest after my bfp until 12 weeks, after that nothing at all apart of the vitamins.

RubySlippers77 · 27/06/2015 16:50

Are you feeling any better now cat?

Glad your scan went well Gill - if it helps, I was on progesterone pessaries and oestrogen tablets until week 12, although I know some clinics stop either/ both when you first get a BFP! 12 weeks seems to be the latest that I've heard of.

gcerron, I was told as well at my 20 week scan that the placenta was firmly fixed by then - so I have an anterior one and it will stay there now, attached to the wall of the uterus. If there were any problems they can be seen by 20 weeks and you could have extra scans if necessary. Also when they listen to the baby's heartbeat, they can hear the placenta then too, which I guess is an extra check to make sure everything's ok.

I had another bleeding episode last weekend and had to spend a night in hospital - not as bad as I feared as it was quite quiet on the antenatal ward, and I got an extra scan to reassure me that everything was ok. Just as well as the NHS have managed to cock up the 24 week scan date!! Things have moved on (slightly) with the house and (again, very slightly!) with the lodger, who's now accepted that he may have to move out of the spare room, although not out of the house..... I keep having bad dreams and panic attacks now though, not helped by waking up every morning with cramp, OUCH. Far from being able to relax and enjoy myself, I'm constantly worried that I'm doing something wrong and maybe not even knowing that it's wrong Sad if anyone has any ideas what I can do to break the circle that would be much appreciated, as OH can't work out why I keep blubbing at random moments!
