Plus size bumps!

Have seen a few threads where women are feeling crap for being plus size and pregnant. I feel crap sometimes too, especially when googling pregnancy and only seeing representations of slim pregnant women and nobody who looks like me (no offence at all to slim women). I couldn't really find much that wasn't critical or bump pics!

So here's a thread for plus size bumps if you're feeling up to posting yours!

Here's mine- 25 weeks today!

I must be weighing myself once a week, and must admit weight gain has been less than I feared, largely in comparison to my last pg when I'm sure I put on at least a couple of stones and never really lost it all either, and also because I still have persistent morning sickness which progressively gets worse throughout the day. References by DP to excessive cellulite, huge arms, tree trunks legs and arse also affect my appetite. It's just too depressing to think about losing it all (and more!) afterwards...

Jodie good luck!! I hope it all goes smoothly for you, and I'm sure it will be followed by mild amnesia soon after the labour! Were all your previous dc on time?

fattymcfatfat · 07/02/2015 20:09

aneesa your dp sounds so mean! I hope you tell him to fo! I was 11 stone before I got pg, was 13 at booking so a hell of a lot of weight which is why im now scared to weigh myself!

BigCatFace · 07/02/2015 20:11

Tell your DP to go fuck himself. You're growing a person. Your body will change, it needs to to do it.

SmileyScooby · 08/02/2015 09:28

aneesa my dh was calling me fatty etc (but bit jokingly at times) and it wasn't nice, I then turned tables and told him a few truths and said atleast ive got a reason why I've out back on the stone I lost last year what's your excuse etc :) since I picked on him he hasn't really made any comments about size joking/otherwise.
I was a 18/20 pre-preg, bmi of 32, weighed 204-206lbs, weighed myself the other day and am nearly 27w and now 220-222lbs...am dreading having to lose the weight and am hoping am not going to gain much more the next 13+ weeks but am not going to limit myself either as I haven't been eating more than I was pre-preg. Just wish my bump was a nice neat round one and not with the extra padding on and around it hehe

Treaclepie19 · 08/02/2015 10:48

So nice to find this thread :)
I'm only 8 weeks but had planned to lose more weight before getting pregnant (i had long enough I'm just not motivated).
My bmi is just under 30 and that's because I've lost a little weight with food aversion and nausea.
Your bumps all look lovely!

LP20140 · 08/02/2015 12:45

Congratulations treacle! Not sure if you'll remember me from ttc threads.I Ihope you're well xx

LP20140 · 08/02/2015 13:49

Thank you! Yes, not too long to go xx

aneesa28 · 10/02/2015 11:51

Smiley I already tried that, only to find it doesn't work with egomaniacs!

Do we have a thread for EDD May? It seems there are quite a few of us due around the same time!

fattymcfatfat · 10/02/2015 16:02

anneesa check out antenatal clubs, it should be in there. pretty sure there is one for each month

AnnaBee36 · 13/02/2015 14:33

So pleased I found this thread, as I have fretted slightly. I have BMI 43, so am pretty hefty, although I did lose 9 stone before I got pregnant. Not losing any more now as I haven't had any sickness or nausea at all! I must say though, all the midwives, sonographers etc I've dealt with have been really lovely, when weight has been mentioned they have been very factual and put it kindly (ie when they were unable to see clearly all 4 chambers of the heart today at 20 week scan the sonographer just explained it was because of me being plus sized there is a little more of me to see through and she would be exactly the same and I could come back when baby was a bit bigger) and I haven't been made to feel bad in any way. Aside from a little wobble when I was put on Clexane injections twice a day to avoid thrombosis (at 36 I am old as well as fat :)) I've been lucky enough to have a really positive experience so far. Oh and we found out today it's a blue one so that's very exciting!

fattymcfatfat · 13/02/2015 14:38

aww congrats. I got told I was cuddly by my mw! I laughed and told them its ok I dont take offence!

BigCatFace · 18/02/2015 19:43

OP here, what a difference 20 weeks makes! 40+1...

BigCatFace · 18/02/2015 19:44

Also despite my high BMI (37), my midwife has asked her boss if I can go to the MLU as everything has been fine, so that's nice.

MissTwister · 18/02/2015 20:41

Gosh your bumps are great. I'm 17 weeks with a booking in BMI of 33.4 and carry most of my fat on my tummy. I don't have a baby bump at all - just the fat still. Should I worry?!!

BigCatFace · 18/02/2015 21:00

At 17 weeks? No, that's super early to be showing.

MissTwister · 18/02/2015 21:25

But some of the bumps here are 13 and 15 weeks. I guess everyone is different!

fattymcfatfat · 18/02/2015 21:27

I got a bump really early. I had to tell people at 6 weeks as they had guessed. there are downsides to having a bump so soon. plus im on number 3 so I get my bump earlier as it knows what its doing already

BreeVDKamp · 19/02/2015 10:38

28 weeks today!! Wahoo!! I look huge but feel great :)

I'm not currently pregnant (my baby bump is nearly 2!) but wanted to share my photos if you don't mind? I have what I call a B belly where it dips in the middle and that carried on throughout my pregnancy. It never got fully round and I just wanted to let others know that be if their bump is not perfect it's still a bump to be proud of!

My pics are 6 months pregnant and 36 weeks.

Hi everyone!

I'm 15+4 wks with a BMI of 35, 5'11" and size 18/20.

I'm a bit worried because I don't seem to be gaining any weight. My midwife said that it was OK because my BMI was high anyway, but I have no semblance of a bump, just kind of a middling spread. I don't have the excuse of being sick in the first trimester, because I felt as fit as a butcher's dog! Getting a bit concerned now.

When did you all start to notice your bumps? I'm not sure if it's just hidden under the flab, but I don't have a huuuuge tummy, so would have thought I'd spot something by now? It's my first pregnancy. Secretly, I'm quite glad because I'm trying to hide it from work (going through a restructure) but also a bit worried that nothing seems to be changing. All was well growth-wise, etc. at scan @ 13+4 wks.

Any input appreciated!
