Hi ladies just wondering if anyone would like to join me on the final countdown from 30 weeks to newborn?!

I see there is another thread on here but the ladies are all at the end of their journey now, so was hoping to find some other mamas-to-be to natter with over the final stretch...!

I've also seen the thinner maternity pads in Boots, Tesco and Superdrug, but like cheesecake mom says they aren't so absorbant.

With due date 28th December not planning anything for Christmas this year just in case.

Ellisisland · 13/11/2014 07:02

Im taking the thicker maternity pads. Last time the midwife suggested I wore 2 one of top of the other as I would need it for the first few days and boy was she right!
You could always switch to thinner ones at home after a couple of days

Mrsgrumble · 13/11/2014 07:06

Can I join? I am 36 weeks but have three weeks to go due to elcs (low placenta)

I have my bag packed, just want to get two ,ore pairs of pj bottoms and repair a brilliant navy tshirt that was perfect last time around and I can find similar in the shops.

superbfairywren · 13/11/2014 07:28

Guess I just have to settle for a huge hospital bag then, and get some of the thinner ones for afterwards when it's lessened. How many are you taking with you? I think if they were folded and wrapped they would seem smaller.

Today I feel like I would gladly swap with someone who is 33weeks, I was actually managing to get some sleep then! Now I just roll from side to side in agony(PGP) and have to go to the loo every 5minutes due to the pressure.
Like others am not planning anything for Christmas, hoping we will have had a couple of weeks to settle before then but you never know, baby could be really late. Certainly not Christmas shopping, having a year off this year, figure first baby is the only time I will have a good enough excuse.

Ducky23 · 13/11/2014 08:26

34 weeks today Confused

I also have pgp so am having little sleep!

LittlePink · 13/11/2014 11:28

I needed the thicker ones last time. Sorry if tmi but when I stood up the morning after my cs I couldn't believe how much blood poured out. I bled for 7 weeks after but after a couple of weeks it was pink lochia that seemed never ending. Will be going for the thicker ones again, have bought 4 week supply then can taper it down as needed finishing in panty liners as it tails off.

LittlePink · 13/11/2014 11:34

Will base it on 4 pads a day I think. I can't remember how many I actually used a day last time but based on a 2 day stay 8 perhaps? Or round it off to 10 to be really safe! Ooh this has got me thinking now, want to start packing my bag today.

Gennz · 13/11/2014 20:21

Yes, my hospital bag is mainly maternity pads and Tena Lady Pants. Delightful.

I still have vomiting and morning sickness! Am 37 + 4. REALLY over being pregnant. Another delightful side effect of MS this late in the pregnancy (TMI alert) is that when you're on all fours heaving into the loo, you tend to wee on the floor as well! Hashtag rockbottom. So SOOOO glad I have my ELCS booked in on the dot of 39 weeks, my mum was 2 weeks overdue with me and my sister was overdue with both her DCs, I can't imagine suffering through this to 42 weeks!!

I think I just bought thick night time sanitary pads and these were fine. Think it might have been cheaper than maternity pads and less space in bag.
33 weeks today and feeling desperate to just be at home. Don't remember feeling like this last time. 3 more weeks at work.
Not cancelling Christmas here but everyone at work thinks baby will be here by then. Told DH last night and he said no way it has to be a January baby- we need some rest at Christmas! (Rest with an over excited 2 year old??)
Happy Friday everyone Smile

superbfairywren · 14/11/2014 08:19

Feeling almost flu-Like this morning, heavy head, all bunged up and achy, with lots if pressure down below and need the loo every 30minutes. Hoping this isn't my body getting ready for Labour as could really do with a week or two more to prepare and rest.
I love Christmas and will certainly be seeing family and putting up the Christmas tree. My family talk about not bothering with presents every year but always once someone has started buying so this year we aren't going to bother. There are a lot of us and the kids will still get presents, just won't bother with any of the many adults this year. So i don't feel too much of a scrooge but it means I haven't got to trail the shops Christmas shopping this year and Will save the much needed money, which is lovely.

LittlePink · 15/11/2014 09:22

how are you feeling today superb?

Found out baby is breech a few days ago so been doing yoga exercises 3 times a day and got my antenatal yoga class this morning. Really wanted to try Vbac so hoping he will turn in time so it's not elcs. My minds been running away with me of how I will look after dd if I have a section. Nappy changes while she kicks me and getting her ready for bed when she gets rid of her last burst of energy for the day. Eek. Anyway still got 3 weeks for him to turn before I will get booked for section. Anyone got any experience of breech?

Can't wait for December so we can get all festive. Dd will understand a lot more this year I think. Last year she didn't really get it. I've been reading the nativity to her so she understands what Xmas is about.

Bugaboom · 15/11/2014 17:16

littlepink no experience personally but a close friend had this and they managed to turn her baby. Not very comfortable but it worked for her. I've also heard that reflexology and acupuncture can help

superbfairywren · 15/11/2014 19:52

Good luck with the turning, I have heard it can sometimes be right at the last minute that they decide to turn. I'm feeling a lot better today, although still having headaches on and off, but generally feeling better.

superbfairywren · 16/11/2014 08:52

Have you started packing your bag now littlepink?

LittlePink · 16/11/2014 12:03

Yes I did it a couple of days ago. It's jammed packed with alsorts. I've based it on a 2 day stay but I know dh can bring anything I need the next day if needs be so maybe should take some things out. I suddenly remembered from last time how hungry I was on the ward in the middle of the night because I didn't eat when I was in labour. I'd packed snack bars but would have a bite and reject the rest so I've packed more snacks incase I need them during the night. Have u started yours?

MrsDutchie · 16/11/2014 13:47

Helloooo!!

34+5 here and counting down!! Is it wrong that I secretly want baby girl to come 2 weeks early in time for me to get her in a Christmas pudding outfit? Grin

Yep, bags are packed. I feel like i'm taking far too much stuff though! As it's my first I really have no idea, so have mainly gone by online lists.

I have a labour bag:Slippers, big t shirt, button up nightdress, spare knickers, maternity pads, couple of baby vests, hat, scratch mitts, couple of nappies and some cotton wool in a folding change mat and snacks. Bottles of water and lucozade are in the car ready to take too.
Changing bag: nappies, water wipes, cotton wool, 3 or so sleepsuits, more vests, cardigan, folding changing mat.
A bigger bag: bf nighty, thin dressing gown, comfy trousers, nursing bras, more knickers, dettol wipes, breast pads, t shirt and pants for dh, more snacks, wash bag with everything in, loose dress to wear home.
Then have a dark towel for a shower if needed and some baby blankets and snowsuit for going home in a separate bag with extra maternity pads. None of my bags are very big so have struggled to fit bulky things in. Am going to try to squeeze the towel in to the big bag so it's with my wash bag.
Any advice on what I've missed/don't need much appreciated.

The lead up to Christmas is a frustrating time to be waiting on a baby, I feel for everyone, especially those of you due around Christmas itself. Fortunately even if I go over, the baby will be here a week or two before Christmas. I made the mistake of going in mothercare the other day and the amount of Christmas baby outfits was insane. I am very proud of myself for not buying anything!

MrsDutchie · 16/11/2014 17:53

Cheescakemom - totally know how you feel. Really it's nor long but we've been getting things ready now and I just want her to get here!!!!!!! But I keep reminding myself she has to come out when she's big and healthy.

Bugaboom · 18/11/2014 07:40

How is everyone doing? I have three more weeks in work. Been unwell all weekend with cough and cold. Would love to just call in sick this week but feeling better today!
Been on a hypnobirth course and got a new sling for when baby arrives. Starting to get organised...

bakingmad83 · 19/11/2014 08:19

Glad to hear you're on the mend Bugaboom. I'm working till 39 weeks, but I work from home, so it's a bit different.

All's well here, though at 34 week midwife appointment on Monday she said I need an extra scan as my BMI was less than 20 at booking in. She says if it was up to her then she wouldn't refer me as fundal height charting along 50th centile and baby seems a good size from what she can feel, but apparently it's policy. Not heard of that before unless you're under consultant care for low BMI, though it will be nice to see baby again :)

LittlePink · 21/11/2014 13:15

How's everyone getting on?

I'm finding my brain has turned to mush. I can't process long dialogue at all. It's happened to me twice now in last couple of days. Dh talking at length about his day, which is a very rare thing, but I took barely any of it in. Not that I'm not interested, I am, I just can't get my head round fast language at the moment. Had to say to him I'm sorry I have no idea what you've just said to me! Then my friend was telling me something and I asked a question and she looked
