Hi ladies just wondering if anyone would like to join me on the final countdown from 30 weeks to newborn?!

I see there is another thread on here but the ladies are all at the end of their journey now, so was hoping to find some other mamas-to-be to natter with over the final stretch...!

Ducky23 · 05/11/2014 08:19

Yea I was offered a section at 39 weeks but that could have meant x mas day in hospital, no thank you! Grin

Oooooooh I hate!!!! Any signs?

Bugaboom · 05/11/2014 18:11

8 days!! How exciting!
And not long for you either ducky
I'm also exhausted cheesecake. Not sure how I can drag myself to work for 4 and half more weeks!

LittlePink · 05/11/2014 20:31

How's sleep going for you all? Another night last night of tossing turning, sitting up, up down, this side that side! Body getting me ready for the sleepless nights.

Do you feel like you're complaining about the gripes all the time or keeping them to yourself well? Dh has taken to either ignoring me now or responding with an ok and that's it. I'm doing a course once a week in the evening and said last night I don't think I'll go tonight. Dh "ok" whilst disappearing into another room, following him- me-"aren't you going to ask why?" Dh-"I know why, you're tired, your ribs and back hurt and you don't feel well". Thanks for the sympathy Confused

Ducky23 · 05/11/2014 20:35

Grin Little that made me chuckle! Totally sounds like my h! Fed up of hearing it!

Ihatechoosingausername · 05/11/2014 22:30

Ducky23 Only a couple of painful twinges today so far. I like asking the baby loudly afterward: 'What on earth are you doing in there?' Smile

LittlePink I've got what I think is restless legs and have to keep tossing and turning during sleep. It's quite infuriating! And I need to have the quilt between my legs for some reason, it's the only way I'm comfortable.

And were those the reasons why you didn't go to your evening class? I'm curious Wink

Cosmomouse · 06/11/2014 10:07

Oh god the tiredness! Hehe, yes I am not sleeping either much, the what was, cute little kicking has turned into full on uncomfortable wriggling under my ribs. The little rascal.

5 weeks and 2 days left at work though, I am going at 36 weeks. Now slightly regretting leaving it that late, so hoping for a final spurt of energy to get me through.

OH is being very good, but I am sure that it is my pregnancy hormones that make me rage a little bit when I say I'm tired, and he says 'I know how you feel'. REALLY? DO YOU? Haha, so can sympahise with you LittlePink and Ducky :-)

LittlePink · 06/11/2014 13:46

Yes they were the reasons! Theres only 2 weeks left of the course but I cant sit for long periods and am so knackered by 9pm im struggling to string a sentence together so might just call it a day. Im such a lightweight!

I cant wait to have this baby now. I don't want him to come now as hes not cooked enough but I want time to pass by quickly. I shouldn't wish my life away but I need to be comfortable again!

Ihatechoosingausername · 06/11/2014 14:50

I'm so tired, I started getting dressed at Midday and have only managed to put on some stretchy trousers thus far >.

Ducky23 · 06/11/2014 14:56

:,) hahaha sounds like me ihate!

Bugaboom · 07/11/2014 19:54

32 weeks today Smile. I've been eating like a horse so not sure if baby is having a growth spurt or if I'm just greedy! Sleep is rubbish. If it's not my painful pelvis keeping me awake, it's my toddler waking. Our baby monitor has broken but I can still hear him in the night- my DH on the other hand is oblivious!

LittlePink · 08/11/2014 20:13

Ear plugs bugaboom?! Only joking. I'm still not sleeping either. Have just accepted that me and sleep are done for the time being.

Went to my antenatal yoga this morning. There was a talk on optimal foetal positioning. Very interesting. After a back to back labour with dd it was good to get some ideas for helping baby into a good position. Wasn't happy that lounging on the sofa isnt a good position damn!

How's everyone?

Ducky23 · 08/11/2014 20:39

Ohhh I brought myself a birth ball little Grin

I figure I'm through with sleep too! Confused Was so grumpy this morning as I had no sleep! Grin

8 weeks left to go here...6 til maternity leave starts. I can't wait to be finished up at work.
All in all the next 8 weeks look fairly stressful between the Christmas build-up, busy term at school, a wedding, a Hen party, finishing house build and moving house.

Has anyone started packing hospital bag?
Anybody thinking of using cloth nappies?
Any advice re breast pumps or steam sterilisers for a ftm? Grin

LittlePink · 09/11/2014 19:43

Im going to start packing my bag this week. Ive got most of the contents for it but still need to consult the websites for suggestions, even though I only did it 2.5 yrs ago. You forget easily!

Not using cloth nappies- no way! DD used to do really explosive poos and many of them so it was a very messy affair. Disposable all the way here!

Breast pumps- I have a medela swing and found it very good. I'll be using it again. Theyre quite expensive but worth it or you could get one second hand on ebay and get replacement bits for it from mothercare for hygiene.

Sterilizers- we've got an avent one. Holds 6 avent bottles as far as I can recall but im not going to use avent this time. Have bought some MAM bottles which are anti colic and take 3 mins in the microwave to sterilize. The sterilizer is a big faff, it has to be totally sterile so you're there with the little tweezers making sure not to touch anything. Having said that i'll have to use it for the breast pump so back to using the little tweezers I guess! Im planning on combi feeding like last time so DH can take over some night feeds when I need some sleep. All that being said the little minx decided at 9 weeks that she would absolutely point blank refuse to have bottles anymore even though she'd been quite happy taking bottles for over 2 months and decided she wanted to be exclusively breast fed which was fine but the 12 week growth spurt hit me hard!

Gennz · 09/11/2014 19:50

Hi everyone - I am 37 weeks today. Have an ELCS booked for 39 weeks on the dot so at least I have a fixed end point. I am so over being pregnant. I've been on mat leave for a week and although I am bored out of my brain I feel so much better for not sitting at a desk all day - my back was really seizing up. Have been swimming a few times a week which makes me so much more mobile - I think I must have SPD, gettign out of bed is a struggle (physically I mean - I can't sleep!)

Hospital bag wise I've packed the baby's stuff, but for mine I just have 2 x button front nighties, 100s of granny knickers & some maternity & breast pads. I have so few clothes that I can fit into now I will have to pack them at the last minute!

I've heard good things about the Medela swing too. How did you manage combi feeding Little Pink - I'm keen to mix feed too. When did you first introduce a bottle?

Ducky23 · 09/11/2014 19:54

Castle I have had my bag done from 26 weeks Shock was advised by my consultant to have it ready 'just incase' Hmm but have finished baby's bag today Grin. 4 weeks to go but am hoping things start off themself before then! (Full moon on 06 dec!)

Am not using cloth nappies... Just thought disposable would be easier.

I have the Avent steriliser too, need to test run it, haven't tested it before.

Well I gt left behind on today's dog walk! H was walking with the big dogs and kept havig to stop for me and the little one to catch up/have a break so I told him to go on without me and il catch up as the dogs were all getting fed up!

How is everyone feeling?

LittlePink · 09/11/2014 21:07

Gennz- I know you're supposed to wait until bfing is established before you introduce a bottle but I had some poor advice on the post natal ward initially when I was struggling to get the latch and the mw suggested if baby wasn't feeding to give formula but was up to me. As I had no clue what I was doing and was stressed out with it all I agreed. It was only when I got home my sister helped me with bfing showing me how to position correctly etc but dd was already taking bottles here and there so it didn't matter too much with her getting bfing established first, she just took to both.

Bugaboom · 10/11/2014 07:20

Hi everyone. No experience of cloth nappies here and not planning to use them this time. (littlepink I think I had blocked out the memory of explosive new born poos- now remember having to clean it off the wallShock)
I had the medela swing and it was great. But it is expensive. I borrowed a friend's and then got mine off eBay. I also leant mine to a friend- she didn't get on with breastfeeding feeding so it was good she didn't get one if her own.
Think we had a avent steriliser for microwave. If you have the room you can just have a bucket with Milton in and leave everything in that. We do that at MIL'S.
Castlelough 4 more weeks at work and I'm torn between complete stress that I have so much to do and sod it not my problem soon!
Hospital bag not done. Going to get work finished up and then it's the first thing on my to do list.
Have a good week everyone
