I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

DurhamRed and Elletorrito Pom poms indeed" and so glad you complained about that awful arrogant attitude of that nurse. When you speak up for yourself, and it can be so hard to do when feeling so ill, you speak up for all women with Hyperemesis.

Durhamred when I read your post this morning I thought they were bonkers. So glad you were assertive. Sucks being in hospital but best place.

Basgetti you sound like you need someone to look after you and tell you to sit down and do nothing/get admitted. Please please please get medical help if you feel awful.

freneticfox · 02/10/2014 19:28

Thanks for that link living - having a chat with HR next week about antenatal appointments and such. Second day back on full time hours and I'm exhausted - but not too much nausea so I consider that a small victory.

basgetti · 03/10/2014 02:06

Poor DS has been up vomiting everywhere. He's settled at the moment but I can't sleep, I'm so exhausted but wide awake. Wishing I wasn't pregnant and could take a sleeping tablet! I've kept a bit down this evening, sipping cherryade seems to be working. Ketones remain at a steady 2.

Glad they've kept you in Durham and I hope that nurse gets the rollicking she deserves.

Thanks ToAvoid, DP is good at taking over once he's home but as he recently started a new job he can't really take any time off so it's me dealing with the school, getting DS a new SALT referral organised etc. I'm just finding everything a bit much at the moment x

DurhamRed · 03/10/2014 08:21

Morning all. Feeling a little better today (not eaten yet so time will tell) and will be discharged home this morning...yay! Got to hear baby's heartbeat too as consultant asked if I'd like to hear it, which was a lovely :-)
All in all a great start to the day...long may it last!!

Meerka · 03/10/2014 09:06

glad to hear it durham, hopefully the feeling better will continue. Isn't it amazing when you hear the heartbeat. Becomes more real, all in that instant.

I hope your son feels better today bas, poor mite :( I can't imagine how you can manage son, the referral etc on top of just getting through the day.

frenetic good to hear you're surviving work so far ... please don't expect too much of yourself!

Been having bad dreams of being pregnant again. The sickness has at last almost completely cleared up (along with all my nice shiny pregnancy hair starting to shed normally again, sniff) but I think it'll take a longer while to get over mentally.

LucindaE · 03/10/2014 13:26

Durham That's happy news.
basgetti I wonder if the PSS no above might be able to put you in touch with someone willing to take a bit of the strain of you, as this just sounds too much if OH can't take time off. 824 7638 2020.
Meerka You poor thing,I didn't know if was still carrying on so long. It does seem to be likned with breast feeding and is totally draining. Hugs.
No wonder you have nightmares. They will get less as time goes on, but it will take a while, as you know from your other L0. Well, you've shown brilliantly how wrong so many statistics are about age related conception and miscarriage and all the rest, and Wilhelm's chances unborn with that uterine infection. After all that, Hyperemesis throughout and this too, no wonder your unconscious shows signs of trauma.
Apologies to anyone overlooked rudely. Back soon.

Sorry, basgetti trust me, 024 7638 2020 might have an ex sufferer in your area who'd be happy to take on some of the work, if you could stand that. Not sure of your area?

It looks like I'm in for another night. Vomiting is persistent and they checked urine again and ketones still present (urine very concentrated). Ah well...always tomorrow!

LucindaE · 03/10/2014 17:35

DurhamRed and basgetti It's hard to hold on in times like these, but you will be posting happy messages on here in the future. Hugs.

Thanks Lucinda I've had an okay day suprisingly, DS and I spent it in bed, napping, having cuddles and watching films so I feel a bit more rested. Also being unwell seems to make DS much less demanding so it's not all bad! I kept down some crackers and smokey bacon crisps and am still sipping the cherryade.

Glad they are keeping you in Durham, hope you start to improve soon.

Thanks Meerka, sorry you are still suffering the effects of this horrible condition, I hope you aren't plagued by any more horrid dreams. I know what you mean about being impacted mentally.

Hope everyone else is feeling better today x

LucindaE · 04/10/2014 11:10

Durham and basgetti and Everyone I hope a bit better today?

Feeling rough this morning, poor DS' bug has now gone to the other end and he was on and off the toilet about 30 times last night. I need sleep! Hope everyone else is doing better x

LucindaE · 04/10/2014 12:46

basgetti Oh no, I only remember twenty times one night when I had salmonella, I think he needs a doctor, and no doubt you do too...Poor you and poor him.

Feeling a little better today and have even managed to hold lunch down (an achievement!). Ketones are fine so I can finally go home....yay! :-)

Meerka · 04/10/2014 20:26

oh great durham :) hope you're tucked up comfortably in your own bed now. It does help doesn't it!

bas I hope your poor son is better now ....

LucindaE · 04/10/2014 20:48

DurhamRed Good news indeed, and so join Merka in her good wishes.

basgetti · 04/10/2014 20:54

Meerka he's better this evening thanks. I've been so badly sick tonight I'm in agony, getting awful cramps across my stomach. God knows what my ketones are. I can't cope with this anymore, just had enough. Not slept properly either which probably doesn't help.

Glad you're doing better Durham x

ToAvoidConversation · 04/10/2014 21:05

You poor thing basgetti! Not what you need at all.

DurhamRed · 04/10/2014 21:30

Thanks everybody, I'm still feeling very sick but at least I've kept some food down today.

Basgetti I'm so sorry to hear you're still feeling so poorly. I know that lack of sleep can make you feel so much worse, I've not had a great nights sleep for weeks and has made me feel really terrible (It seems pregnancy insomnia has kicked in along with hg, not a great combination!). It really does sound like you need to be admitted to hospital for IV meds and fluids.

basgetti · 04/10/2014 21:41

I wonder if I've got DS' bug as I keep getting stomach cramps and no relief after vomiting, just checked ketones and they are +3 now. If I'm still this bad in the morning I'll ring the hospital but if it is a bug I don't want to spread it round an antenatal ward. If it's a bug on top of the HG then lucky me, I wasn't quite feeling ill enough lol x

basgetti · 05/10/2014 11:56

Ketones +4 this morning, I gave in and rang the hospital to arrange admission. They are full and diverting people away at the moment but someone will ring and give me some advice. Been waiting nearly 2 hours for the call back and not really sure what advice they can give? I can't even keep my meds down. Looks like another day in bed for me just trying not to move. At least MW giving a home visit in the morning, maybe she can do something.

ToAvoidConversation · 05/10/2014 13:23

Is there another hospital you can try? You really need attention.

basgetti · 05/10/2014 14:47

I just had phone assessment, they want me to stay at home for now as if I come in they are so full I won't even get seen until midnight. She was satisfied as baby moving well, I'm seeing MW tomorrow and I've tolerated sips in the last hour. Was advised sips of lucozade will help my ketones because of the sugars, but just see how I go the rest of the day and call back if I get worse.

I do feel a bit fed up because I know if they weren't so busy they would have admitted me straight away rather than persuading me otherwise but I'm also relieved I can just stay in bed, don't have the energy to sit in a waiting room for ten hours.

ToAvoid my parents live near a different hospital over an hour away and if I'm no better tonight or tomorrow and my hospital are still so busy they will take me there x

ToAvoidConversation · 05/10/2014 16:44

I really hope you get seen to very soon you poor thing. Getting to your parents would be a miserable journey too. Horrible horrible.
