Hi, I'm 23 years old and I'm currently 23 weeks pregnant with my first child. I am really excited about it, but am a little nervous/ scared as i'm unsure what to expect. I have never really been around babies or small children. I would really love to hear off and talk to other expectant mom's, to hear your thoughts and experiences. x x x

that looks like a good deal also! the bases aren't too overly priced like some I've seen. You'll have to let me know how you get on with it once LO arrives!

Just the cot conumdrum now! LOL

youngmum21 · 28/09/2006 13:44

cant really help with the cot we got one given to us wich saved us loads of money!!!!

lebe- the thing is even though im not liking the idea of how much the labour is going to hurt i defo dont want an epidural wot bout u?

AmieR · 28/09/2006 13:47

That's awesome! Problem is the only person we know with one at the moment is still using it! LOL

nevermind... luckily our folks have said they'd help out with certain purchases, so that's a little weight of our minds and a dent out of the wallet!

youngmum21 · 28/09/2006 14:08

the only thing id suggest is get one with a sde that drops down much easier then bending ova the side and one where you can change how high or low the baby is so once the baby can sit you can low the mattress so they can climb out hope this helps!!!

youngmum21 · 28/09/2006 14:17

sorry i meant to put cant climb out not can how silly wud that be!!!

AmieR · 28/09/2006 14:22

I understood what you meant, I'll blame it on your pregnant state! LOL.

sorry bout the questions, what are you doing for the first few weeks sleeping arrangements?

LeBe · 28/09/2006 17:18

Youngmum - i really did want everything painkiller wise to begin with but now i have been to classes i would prefer not to and i dont really want pethadine either but i think i will see when it happens.

I was also given a cot so didnt have to worry about that, we were also given a moses basket so he is sleeping in that first and then moving into the cot, but he is definatly sleeping in our bedroom for first 6 months

youngmum21 · 28/09/2006 20:05

hi amier sorry i didnt reply earlier went out, for the first few weeks baby will be sleeping in our room as we were given a crib!

Lebe - i just want the gas and air unless i really cant cope or need an epidural guess ill just have to wait untill that time comes

AmieR · 29/09/2006 09:49

That's No Problem Youngmum.

I've found a fairly cheap moses basket, second hand, some are so expensive for what use (as in length of time they can be used) they actually serve!

You get all the bedding fresh and we should be OK...

youngmum21 · 29/09/2006 09:52

morning!!!

Who wud of thought babies cost a fortune before they are born lol!!!!

AmieR · 29/09/2006 11:23

and its not as if it will get any cheaper!

LeBe · 29/09/2006 14:22

How right you both are!! Everytime i think we have everything for the baby i think of something else he will need, and ive actually been really lucky what with my mum owning a baby clothes shop and dp mum working in a chemist we got given quite alot of things, still we must have spent some serious money on him too! When he is born there will be added costs of nappies, dummies, clothes.... oh dear!

AmieR · 29/09/2006 14:29

I couldn't beleive the price of nappies when I checked it out the otherday! LOL.

aww LeBe you found out the sex.. I'm tempted but would love a surprise... did you find out at the 20 week scan?

youngmum21 · 29/09/2006 15:09

nappies are expensive but they got some gud offers on in boots at the min like buy 2 get the 3rd free on huggies and they usually have offers on the pampers aswell so we have stocked up abit!!!

AmieR · 29/09/2006 15:42

with my neice, my brother and sister in law tried to use terry towelling ones with the liners.. I think this lasted a week! I guess the ease does help, even with the most eco concsious folk!

youngmum21 · 29/09/2006 15:54

i think we are going to try and use the reusable ones as in the long run it works out alot cheaper then diposable nappies, we are going to use the diposable ones for the first few weeks and then try the other ones well thats wot we have decided wether we actually do is a diff story lol!!

AmieR · 29/09/2006 19:01

i guess it best to try and then if its to your liking your all set, and if its not for you, then you know there are alternatives.

BENDYB · 30/09/2006 09:33

morning girls, how is every1?
Yeah I cant believe the cost of nappies etc, have any of u joined the boots parenting club? Its really good, u get loads of extra points, triple points on huggies nappies stuff like that & a free huggies changing bag! & tons of vouchers 2 get things 4 urself like makeup, bubble bath etc. Luckily we have been given loads of stuff aswell, like a moses basket, swinging crib, bouncing chair thing & loads of clothes & stuff aswell, but we've still spent so much on stuff 4 him!

AmieR · 02/10/2006 15:03

Thanks for the heads up on the boots club BENDYB! DH just found out his bonus should be in his bank next month so thats a nice thought!

youngmum21 · 02/10/2006 15:28

hiya,

how you all doing?

AmieR · 02/10/2006 15:36

pretty tired! How about you?

Indith · 02/10/2006 16:08

Oh god shopping...I really want to have everything ready but really don't want to think about it either!

How is everyone? My Bump has been growing so much the past few days I have no energy left for myself!

I'm going down the reusable nappy route too, looking at the tots bots ones at the moment. Also had a play on buggies in John Lewis this morning so I can finally decide and buy it cheaper online! (thinkI'm going for the Loola...anyone else?) As for the rest, Cot shopping in Ikea tomorrow, also need a few blankets and fitted sheets but the rest we have, have a moses basket and a play gym but still want a bouncing chair. Not to mention the mountains of cotton wool, baby wipes, family first aid kit (just realised stuff like forehead themometer and stuff might come in handy!), bottles and all the other stuff we need. Oh and clothes of course! So easy to just think of the 'big' things and forget all the rest of the preparation stuff!

youngmum21 · 02/10/2006 17:01

im fed up but only 4 weeks to go so gettin nervous!!!!

Indith · 02/10/2006 19:09
