Hi, I'm 23 years old and I'm currently 23 weeks pregnant with my first child. I am really excited about it, but am a little nervous/ scared as i'm unsure what to expect. I have never really been around babies or small children. I would really love to hear off and talk to other expectant mom's, to hear your thoughts and experiences. x x x

Hi Jay! I sometimes get sharp pains just to the right of my belly button, annoys me but seems to go in phases so I put it down to Bump doing odd things!

BENDYB · 27/09/2006 06:53

hello every1
Welcome jay, yeah maybe its just how the baby layin.x

youngmum I'm also worried that dp will never fancy me again! I've also got stretch marks aswell now! Even tho i used cream on them 2 or 3 times a day from the day i found out i was pg!

AmieR · 27/09/2006 10:27

Stretch marks have appeared on my breasts, (luckily not too noticeable, just in certain light!) which so far have been victim to a big growth spurt since my pregnancy began, DH has actually enjoyed their change, I've told him to enjoy them while he can!

Lebe - I'm trying to! I feel 100 x better today than I have done the past week or so. Just need a decent nights sleep! I know I won't get many once the LO comes but I'd really appreciate a night without 4 trips to the toilet! I think thats pretty much all it is at the moment that's getting me down a little - tiredness!

LeBe · 27/09/2006 11:38

Hi jay

Youngmum - i think you would know if your lo had dropped, mine has this week and i could tell straight away, i have a definate space between my boobs and bump now and i feel more comfortable (not as squashed) and my bump hangs lower. Im not sure if your mw would tell you but i told her i think he has and she agreed then. Also 2 weeks ago when i saw her his head was on the brim, now it 2/5 into the pelvis, they should write this on your notes if yours is the same (hope that helped)

Amier - i didnt mean to nag, saying enjoy yourself (sorry). I have had a bit of a rough time all the way through, and never had a point where it was better if you see what i mean, so i shouldnt judge really. But it will all be worth it. x

AmieR · 27/09/2006 12:25

LeBe.. sorry if you thought I thought you were nagging! (did that make sense) that's not the case at all!

Today is so much better than the last few. Its real up and downs! enjoying the ups more than loathing the downs!

LeBe · 27/09/2006 12:46

Amier - yes that did make sense and noyou didnt make it out like that, i just thought it might seem that way and im the last person to be giving advice! i havent had a great time throughout my pg so i havent really had a time where i have felt 'better' if you see what i mean?

I know what you mean about the no sleep, since my lo has dropped and started engaging i am weeing about every 10mins very annoying at night! Last night i had backache and period type pains so was in the bath at 4 this morning! Not very with it at work now but its my last day friday, so i can relax then and finish babbas room and wait for the big day (which im hoping will not be too far away)

AmieR · 27/09/2006 12:56

Lebe- I've not had chance to skim this whole thread but when is your EDD?

Not really been with it at work or mentally since about week 4! which actually only seems about 2 weeks ago. I'm 18 weeks ATM. Its going so quickly! With so much to get your head around I go do with being "with it" for a few days at least!

I am considering bringing spare pants to work as i"m dreading the day I sneeze when my bladder is a little full!

LeBe · 27/09/2006 13:05

I am 34 weeks atm but i was given lots of different dates so could maybe be the end of Oct although my offical date is 6th Nov.

Luckily i have been able to hold my wee in never really thought of the fact of leakage! But i wouldnt worry too much, my main concern now is my waters going in the middle of Asda!!

Oh and i was never really with it but pregnancy brain has really kicked in! im so forgetful and clumsy now i think everyones glad im leaving work cos im a liability.

How old are you again, if you dont mind me asking?

youngmum21 · 27/09/2006 13:10

hi girl

Hope everyone is well today?
Im ok getting fed up though, my lo feels like she going to come out my belly her movements are so strong it shocks me!!!!

Bendyb- i have been using the creams aswell but i dont think they work they just make you smell nice not that dp notices!!!!!

AmieR · 27/09/2006 13:25

LeBe - I'm 26, but 27 next month.

I've always had a pretty useless bladder but its proving VERY useless at the moment! Tena lady here I come!

LeBe · 27/09/2006 14:17

Hi youngmum - i know what you mean about the strong movements, mine looks like something out of alien when he gets going, also my belly is covered in stretchmarks i used coco butter i dont think it made any differece.

Amier - oh dear, i think if i was you i would stock up too

AmieR · 27/09/2006 16:29

LeBe- I'll have a nosey round the chemisty bit in Tesco!

Indith · 27/09/2006 16:41

Hello!

I have been slathering moisturiser of any sort on for a while and no stretch marks yet! Thread veins though....but then I've always had a few of those, I'm just sure my legs are going to be a huge purple mass by the end of this!

Had a horrible achy morning then went to aqua natal class after lunch (the nice people at surestart run them for free at my pool, check out your locals girlies they are great!) Now achy at all but absolutely shattered and faced with just 2 more hours to complete my target of polishing essay 1 of 2, do the washing up and generally clean the house a bit and prepare some food before Guides to eat when I get back!

Maybe I should get off MN. Just give me 5 min for the chocolate to kick in!

LeBe · 27/09/2006 16:46

Hi Indith .

How far gone are you? You are lucky to not have any stretchmarks yet, my stomach is covered!! as well as my bum and thighs .

Ohh i really want to go to swimming classes, i think i will look into when i leave work (this friday yey!!) do you find it helpful? Oh and i was told the more chocolate you eat the happier your baby is and the more s/he smiles so keep munching!

Amier - i would go straight to the suppliers you might get a discount - ha ha

AmieR · 27/09/2006 19:49

one of my best friends works for surestart.. she's given me so much info on all sorts of aspects! I can't wait to go to a breast feeding cafe!

Indith · 27/09/2006 22:21

I'm 27 weeks LeBe, am pretty lucky I think but Bump still quite small (growing at an amazing rate though!). My mum says she never got stretch marks so I'm hoping it runs in the family!

Was my first aqua natal class but was fun, and of course the chance to meet lots of other pregnant ladies. Good work out too! Was run by a midwife so there were some exercises that were aimed at labour techniques too which is always good.

I have been to a normal aqua gym class at my mums gym before and it is similar (without the labour stuff!) so even if you can't find a natal one could always try reguar classes as anything in water is gentle on your joints and the instructor will warn you of any exercises you can't do and adapt them for you.

Chocolate becoming my staple 'kick up the bum' food!

youngmum21 · 28/09/2006 12:51

afternoon girls!!

Hope you are well im feeling in a really lazy mood today didnt get out of bed till 12
Ive had enough im fed up and just want lo to come out now anyone else feel like that ??? x

AmieR · 28/09/2006 12:55

hey youngmum! I don't blame you for feeling like that... I imagine I will when I get to that stage.

youngmum21 · 28/09/2006 13:00

0h i suppose i wont be saying that i want her to come when i do go in to labour though lol oh well 4 and a bit weeks to go surly it cant go that slow???

AmieR · 28/09/2006 13:03

The way this year has flown by, I'm sure it will come and go in the blink of an eye!

Can I ask what Pushchair you've gone for? We're having such a dilema about choosing one!

youngmum21 · 28/09/2006 13:23

we have got a greco one if you go on the toyrus web site it on there it a red and black one its one of the lightest ones you can get after all if im on my own dont want to try and lift some big heavy thing in to my car!!!!!

youngmum21 · 28/09/2006 13:24

n it is a travel system but most of them are you have to buy a car base for it though but it much easier cuz the base just stays in the car so you can just click the car seat in and out of it without to much hassle!!!

AmieR · 28/09/2006 13:34

cheers Youngmum, I'll go check that out! we've considered the option with the car seat bases so we can have on in each car. make the job easier! Hopefully.

youngmum21 · 28/09/2006 13:36

yeah i think we are going to get another car base so we got one for both car saves alot of time and hassel as im sure it will take us alot longer to get out the house once the baby comes so dont need more hassel sorting out the cars aswell lol!!!

LeBe · 28/09/2006 13:38

Youngmum i know exactly how you feel! I am so fed up now i just want to hold him and cuddle him now, but everyone is saying i will want him back in when he is here!! Oh and im not looking forward to labour either!

Amier - I also got a Gracco one from toys r us. It is a travel system eith car seat, base and footmuff, raincover etc and it was on offer it also folds down and up really easily, also if you ask they will check it fits in your car for you and everything. x
