Very early days I know but would love to talk to others in same situation. This is no. 3 (no. 2 was a mere 1 week fantasy last year) so am keeping this one to myself (and all of you).

Anyone else?

Smellymelly - ditto everything Toothache said - very brave indeed

But just think 2 months from now you'll probably be having the most gorgeous bump!

2 months from now we're planning our beach holiday and I hope to be showing off lovely round tanned bump - reality will be VERY different as I'm sure I'll be hiding under many layers (put it on all round last time...sulk...)

Tried earlier to add a message...Will make this shorter as I have had no luck thus far. Congratulations to all you expectant mums! Sounds like you are having a rough time of it. Good news is that once the sickness and tireness subside it will be getting BIG that plagues our minds. I am due Dec 6ish with number 4. Feeling cautiously optimistic as I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks in Nov. and didn't know until my 12 week scan (done at 13 weeks 5 days). Not looking forward to going for a scan this time but expect that it will bring much relief as I am certainly feeling sick enough to believe that all must be well.

Jimjams · 24/05/2004 10:51

Ok I forgot- although I never actually am sick in pregnancy I can feel pretty nauseous. 4am last night I was on here trying not to throw. Bluergh.

hana · 24/05/2004 11:24

congrats Canadianmom!! I can sympathise with your scan anxieties - I had a m/c in October as well and it was at an early scan that we knew the bad news......but I had an early scan yesterday for this pregnancy and everything was ok...so far so good! There'a a very supportive thread 'for mums2be after m/c' as well, if you need some extra support.

Hi I am our expecting our first in December this year. The midwife seems to think it could be twins as I am rather large for only 12 weeks. Twins run in both sides of my husbands parents family and also on my mothers side. Could this be the case has anyone else been in a similar situation/ The other thing is this is the 3rd month I have bleeding is this natural>

hana · 24/05/2004 21:02

could very well be twins sweetmexico, congratulations! There is another woman here - smellymelly who is expecting twins in early Jan, but pops in here too. Can't you have a scan to confirm it or not?
About your bleeding, it's terribly common, but if you're worried I would def get it checked out.
Lots of luck!

Preggie pops arrived today! No one in to get parcel so they are sitting in the post office ready and waiting. Will be there first thing tomorrow! Anyone have any thoughts on travel? My best friend is having her hen party in Germany in 10 days. I will be 12 weeks but not having scan until 13wks. At the moment I feel too exhausted to think about it but do have guilt creeping in for not going. She knows I'm pregnant and has already said it would be fine to not go. I haven't read anything about safe to fly or not in first trimester - any ideas?
Lillymum, glad I am not only fainter and that you were at least in your own home.
Smellymelly - I am going to a wedding party on a boat in a few weeks so am looking forward to an afternoon of no nausea! Thanks for tip.

sweetmexico · 25/05/2004 11:14

Yesterday I went to the maternity ward at walsgrave hospital to check out he bleeding. They did a urine test and told me I was not pregnant, then they decided to do a blood on should get the results today.

I and my hubby think the bleeding is just spotting cause for the last 3 months it has usually around my period and only lasts 3 months.

The docotor at the hospital made me feel so small, he checked my belly and never said a dam thing apart from to wait for the results. However my hubby put his hands on my belly and can feel two heart bearts.

sweetmexico · 25/05/2004 11:18

oops lasts 3 months i menat 3 days dam im not with it this morning

webmum · 25/05/2004 14:58

sweetmexico

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but I don't think it is possible to feel the heartbeat just by touching your tummy, I have nevr been able to feel my abby's even at 9 months pregnant, but I might be wrong.

Good luck

scubamum2b · 25/05/2004 21:01

ginger29 - a mag I have says - avoid unpresserised planes. See Dr if blood spotting/diabetes/high blood pressure/previous early delivery. get an aisle seat if you are going to the loo a lot, and go before you get on board incase of delay, get seat towards front or over wing to help with sickness. Have plenty of cool drinks.

It does'nt say, it so I will - Enjoy

Canadianmom · 26/05/2004 19:30

ginger29 Do the preggie-pops help? Feeling rather desperate for a solution...
Have traveled extensively during 3 pregnancies including 2 overseas moves and the only drawback was the exhaustion and nausea of the first trimester...Go if you think that you will be able to enjoy yourself. Thankfully it is not a long flight!

Canadianmom · 26/05/2004 19:47

Hana
Just reading through this thread and found where you mention tipped back (or retro-verted) uterus; mine is as well and the advantage seems to be a smaller bump and less need to use the loo for the first trimester... Does this seem true for you as well? As for labour and delivery I am not sure what the books say but mine were relatively short and all 3 babies were delivered on the 2nd push. Hopefully it will all work to your advantage!
Do you already have children? Are you still feeling sh"$@y?

Sweetmexico
Your week sounds like a bit of a nightmare to go from a midwife suggesting that you are big for dates and possibly expecting twins only to have a doctor suggest that you might not be pregnant?! Best of luck and do keep us informed.

hana · 26/05/2004 21:40

canadianmom - I've got a 2 year old, she is 3 in Sept. I didn't start wearing proper maternity cothes with her until I was about 6 months, so I'm sure that I had the retroverted thing then as well, but it was just never brought up. I'm not showing with this one yet, but am just at 9 weeks. Feeling bloated and generally fat however, but no bump! and as far as the labour went, I did a few more pushes than 2 or maybe that should be !!

sweetmexico · 26/05/2004 23:04

Just thought I would let you know I went for a scan today and it showed I was miscarrying the twins I was carrying

Samcj · 26/05/2004 23:29

Sweet Mexico, I'm from another thread, night in alone and bored, saw your message. Are you alright? Silly question I know. I'll stay logged on if you want to talk. So sorry for you. My thoughts are with you.

bunny2 · 26/05/2004 23:36

sweetmexico, I replied on the other thread, just want to say how sorry I am. Please use Mumsnet for support, I did and it really helped.

Nimme · 27/05/2004 13:51

Sweetmexico - so sorry

So sorry to hear your news. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Canadianmom · 29/05/2004 16:46

Looking for advice: I saw my GP for referral to Midwives 2 1/2 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything... According to LMP I am 12 weeks today (suspect that I am actually 11 weeks 2 days as I was keeping track) and I am a bit worried about not being able to get a dating scan if I go much beyond the 12 week mark. (Also feeling somewhat worried as I have had two missed-miscarriages that were diagnosed by scan) Is it possible to contact the midwives directly or the UCLH re scan? Feeling like a fish out of water as the only thing the UK and Canada seem to share is the same language (and even this is up for debate some days ) Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

PotPourri · 29/05/2004 16:57

Hi Girls. I am a new joiner to this thread, I was on the November thread, but after my first scan today my due date is now 8 December. So I thought I would join this thread, if you don't mind. This seems to be the morning sickness thread, and yes, I do have bad morning sickness too, but it is easing off now that I am getting on a bit.

Sweetmexico. So sorry to hear your news, I feel so sad for you. Many hugs at this difficult time.

smellymelly · 29/05/2004 16:59

Canadianmom - I would ring your GP, or contact the midwife direct, (your surgery should be able to give you a number).

I'm a little confused are you in the UK now??

Some areas do not scan at 12 weeks in the UK, only at 20 weeks. So you should ask for one, considering your history.

Canadianmom · 29/05/2004 17:35

Sorry for the confusion! Am now in UK. First two born in Canada. Number 3 WAS born in UK but at home with ind. midwife as GP was thoroughly unsupportive despite the fact that I had recently miscarried at 18 weeks. I am certain that the 12 week scan is the routine here (UCLH) as that is how I found out that I had missed-miscarriage in Nov. Sorry, WAY TOO MUCH INFO NOW!!! Pregnancy brain and feeling especially exhauted and nauseated today! Already rang GP (as per your advice) and was told that file has been passed on the midwives and that I should wait for them to call me...

Canadianmom · 29/05/2004 17:37

Welcome and Congratulations PotPourri!

PotPourri · 29/05/2004 18:47

Thanks Canadianmom. Look forward to chatting to you all in the coming months.

CM - If you are not happy with the GPs answer, phone again and ask for contact details in the clinic. I don't think you are being unreasonable given your (very recent) history, and at least that way you could be dealing with the midwifes directly rather than with the GP - who sounds a bit too unconcerned TBH. Chin up, just keep pushing until you are happier with the situation.
