Absolutely LOVE the name Lola but its my dogs name - considered changing the dogs name but we've had her 8 years and we keep forgetting to use another name!! DH likes Esme but i'm not entirely convinced, quite like Lyla as its similar to Lola but i'm going round in circles and getting nowhere fast. DH chose my DD's name so i want to choose this one!! Considered Lolita so i can shorten it to Lola after my dog has popped his clogs but my mum nearly fainted when i mentioned Lolita!!!

Any suggestions or views on any of the above? I actually cannot get anywhere with this muddle of names and can't seem to find any new ones either - my brain is like jelly at the mo!

awwww mazzy!!! Close friends shorten it to mimi

noonar · 15/09/2006 18:24

My dd2 has a middle name...ELiza, which i wish we'd chosen as her first name.

My friend called ds 2 harry, after their guinea pig and my dd1's middle name is megan, after my mums labrador. no kidding!

why not call dd lola and change the dog's name to lolabelle. then shorten it, in time, to belle? sorry, mad idea!

Xavielli · 15/09/2006 18:43

I love the name Esme btw! If DP didn't have a nephew called Ezra to confuse it with I think it would have been DD's name. How ever, she is Eliana, and I love the name. Have yet to meet another one.

Sorry - quick hijack. Cece, was your midwife Esme based at Crowborough BC? It's not a common name, just wondering!

Stefallie · 16/09/2006 15:02

hi Lolabelle

When I was pregnant I thought there was no way possible I was having a girl so the only girls name I really had was Emily. We had Ryan and that was basically it cause it was a boy. So when DD (Surprise!) came she was nameless for a day and I kept calling her my niece, who is 10 months older name - Jasmin. DD didn't look like an Emily so we have Allie, which suits her and I love.

Sorry to ramble.
I Love:
Layla
Cayli
Lexie
Isla

Also struggling for a girl's name...it has to sound good in French as well as English, and a bonus would be some sort of Hebrew-ish origin to it. Oh, and it has to go with a long surname starting in M and ending in Z...and not be too similar to dd1's name, which is often shortened to Eli (pronounced Ellie).
How's that for a challenge...
We've come up with Talia, Cassia (Cassi), Maia...and heaps of names that dh insists reminds him of anything from a hairy man to someone he doesn't like

treacletart · 16/09/2006 16:07

Hi Elibean - My Parisian niece needed a good bilingual name too - they went with Clara - believe Ewan McGregor did the same

Elibean · 16/09/2006 16:27
