Absolutely LOVE the name Lola but its my dogs name - considered changing the dogs name but we've had her 8 years and we keep forgetting to use another name!! DH likes Esme but i'm not entirely convinced, quite like Lyla as its similar to Lola but i'm going round in circles and getting nowhere fast. DH chose my DD's name so i want to choose this one!! Considered Lolita so i can shorten it to Lola after my dog has popped his clogs but my mum nearly fainted when i mentioned Lolita!!!

Any suggestions or views on any of the above? I actually cannot get anywhere with this muddle of names and can't seem to find any new ones either - my brain is like jelly at the mo!

Llorena (pronounced lohrehna not pronounced Loreeena )

Lucita (little light in Spanish)
Lucila (pronounced looceela)

Eva Ava Anna

Lolabelle - if you love the name, use it. I have the same name as the cat my parents owned when I was born. She immediately became known as cupcakescat whilst I was cupcakes .
Rename your dog Loladog - it'll be easy to remember. I always loved the fact that I thought I was named after a cat - it's only my parents who don't like the idea. They insist that it was just because they loved the name, not that they wanted to name their child after their pet.

Skyla is lovely as is Esther, the whole Lila/Lyla thing is a bit now but i thought Lola was slightly more original due to the fact its an old spanish name i think but my friend has just been round and said when she thinks of Esme she thinks of a beautiful little girl which made me melt a bit as thats how i viewed it originally . At least i am down to lola/Esme although you know when you can't quite help thinking there is another one out there which may 'wow' you more??! Middle names for esme though?? lola goes with everything but Esme?? don't want it too old fashioned due to the fact Esme is already a graveyard special!! Any ideas?? (i love you all for helping by the way!!)

Cupcakes that is SO helpful, years down the line it actually doesn't matter where the name came from does it - Esme has now grown on me so i have two to choose from now!!! Just middle names now and i'm there....!

If i had have had a daughter (blessed with 2 boys) i would have called her Kecia after my best friend, the most wonderful person (female) that i ever met.

sockmonkey · 14/09/2006 21:11

My sister took 4 days to name her firstborn. Don't get too stressed about it now. Once your little bundle of joy arrives, you can see if she LOOKS like a Lola.
My DS2 was going to be Joshua, but when he was born, he just didn't look like a Josh, he was a Samuel. It may sound daft, but that's how I felt. Narrow down a list of your faves to save a bit of time.
I think you get 2 weeks to register your little one anyway, so there is plenty of time to decide!
PS - I do like Lola as a name too.

AllieDelOllio · 14/09/2006 21:20

it's so funny when people ask her name.. they usually say.."what the baby's called sylvia?"

Ooooh, love Belle. Am also trying to find a short girl's name (long surname) but dd1 is called Elia and we sometimes call her Eli-bell so might have blown that one. But love it anyway - good luck choosing!

Peridot30 · 14/09/2006 22:23
