Baby you'd be surprised how quickly and easily a scruffy front can be made OK looking - happened to us with our house. Plus the inside is probably fine like your mum says.
Pregnancy yoga is great. I recommend it!

ilovechops · 19/08/2014 12:47

Yes baby I agree, I live in a not that pretty ex council maisonette, there are 4 of us in the block. 3 of the houses look lovely on the outside and one looks a lot scruffier and generally in loved, it is amazing to see what flowers, tidying and paint can do!

In other news I'm just heading to booking in appointment. I need a fish slap though as been panicking all day that I don't feel pregnant any more. Not sure why as had strong nausea last night, am shattered and boobs hurt but my tummy seems a bit deflated. Can this happen at almost 9 wks? I still feel fat (!) but it's less heavy and bloated feeling. Also had some really minor twinges, not pain exactly just sort of short twinge low down, hope it's stretching?! Am just panicking I guess, so hard to wait for next scan!

Davidtennantmistress · 19/08/2014 13:04

baby don't worry, I too had a council flat, one of four, ours and the other one next door ground floor were kept nicely together, however the one on the corner was in a right shite state. it was lovely and big inside though. it's waht you make it. we've finally settled in a nice three bed house i'm truying my hardest nott o get itchy feet as it's really not fair on my family but I think just one more move!

we moved 3 months ago, I was 4 weeks pg, ds2 is 2.8 months, basically we packed the boys off to mums for the night we acutlaly moved,.the day before we hired the van he helped to lad it, with dp, and my other son kept him entertained with his friends in the front so we watche dhim but also had help. the boys camped out on materesses the night before we moved, thought it was grate we slept on the sofa bed, dp put the boys beds up first on the sunday morning and mum dropped them back to us at lunch time with a roast dinner! extra help just for the mini one helps.

Cakebaker35 · 19/08/2014 13:23

I'm on that thread, commented really because although my labour with dd was v traumatic and ended in emcs, I didn't want to die even though I thought we were going to (we were close) but just tried to say to people that I was one of the unlucky ones, what happened to me wasn't normal and no one could've done anything to prevent it so no way would I tell all to a first timer in a 'you've got this coming' sense, it's pointless, mean and simply not true. I know many many friends who had very straightforward vaginal births and no one wanted to die. Agree with squiz that the thread (and many on mn!) are just drawing in a disproportionate number of those who had a bad time like me.

GailLondon · 19/08/2014 14:52

Hey everyone!
ilove, fish slaps heading your way but only tiny ones because I had exactly the same worry at 9-10 weeks! I think the consensus is that this can be the time that you have a little relief from that early PG bloating, but the proper bump isn't there yet, so you do feel a bit flatter for a few weeks.
The way I rationalised it to myself was, it can't be my uterus getting smaller because I would know about it (bleeding or leaking fluid etc), so it must be my intestines/other inside bits de-bloating.

GailLondon · 19/08/2014 14:55

Oh, and if you are still nauseous, tired, and boobs hurting, that's plenty of symptoms right there!! How many more do you want :)
Just smiling to my self because I remember saying exactly the same 'Oh I dont feel pregnant except for'....and then listing a whole load of symptoms!

Babytinx11 · 19/08/2014 17:12

Thanks guys I think this is fear of the unknown more than anything I don't like not knowing what to expect :(

one my app is this Friday I'd be crying if it was next Friday as that's viewing and paperwork for the new house day :)

Fil shocked me today by bringing over enough paint to decorate the whole of the new house turns out that him and mil lived in that house until DH was 1 so 29 years ago was entertained while packing listening to them argue about what the house lay out was like lmao. Was nice they were civil as they really don't like each other so civil is a big improvement :)

CorporeSarnie · 19/08/2014 17:24

Managed to get my whooping cough jab today, only a week after I realised that if I didn't book it no-one else was going to do so on my behalf (damn the efficiency of newborn vaccination programs for kidding me into believing that I would just get an appointment).
Other than a little bit of soreness feel fine, and due to my paranoia over early arrival, glad that I've got it out of the way.
I only got as far as transition before my spinal and EMCS (breech), so have nothing to contribute to that thread except that no, I didn't want to die. I walked to theatre as I refused to wait for a wheelchair, stopping for contractions (which were about 1.5-2min apart by then), and do remember strongly the struggle to get the spinal in as I kept jumping off the table shouting 'I'm going to poo myself'! But there is nothing useful about scaring FTMs with horror stories - no two labours or mums or babies are the same.
fish slaps to those needing them, and hope that the packing is going OK now baby, it will be worth it when you get to the other end and can relax.

MrsGiraffe12 · 19/08/2014 17:44

Just a moan really. I'm too fat, too tired and too grumpy to do this much longer. I want this baby out now :-( but got until the 28th for my ELCS unless labour kicks off properly before then!

Alb1 · 19/08/2014 17:58

I no how you feel mrsg I'm still at work until next Monday (am 38+3 today) but only part time now and I'm so board aswell! Time is going so slowly! Saw the midwife yesterday n now don't see her until I'm 41+2 for a sweep and then I'd go in for induction 3 days after that if still pregnant, really really hope I don't make it to either of those appointments! Even that crazy wanting to die in labour thread isn't putting me off, so eager for things to get going I'm even dreaming about going into labour...

MrsGiraffe12 · 19/08/2014 18:01

alb it's so frustrating all the waiting. I've never been this pregnant before as DS was a 32 weeker so I guess it's dragging even more! I'm only 37+2 so I very much doubt I'll deliver before next Thursday.

Saying that, me and DH are going to see Lee Evans tomorrow evening so you never know, the law of the sods may kick in and I'll go into labour ;-)

OP posts:
Cakebaker35 · 19/08/2014 18:40

I feel for you all those waiting for things to kick in, there's nothing quite like that feeling if feeling mahooosive and wanting your baby out! Fingers crossed for you all x

Very achey hips here, had real trouble sleeping last night they were so painful. Had this when pregnant with dd but not until much much much later on (only 18wks now and I was at least 30wks before) So any great tips let me know, I tried various pillow positions last night but nothing seemed to work. They've been sore all day. Feeling like an old lady!

Babytinx11 · 19/08/2014 19:16

corpore yea things are going better house is starting to look packed now which I didn't realise I would be pleased about lol really annoying opening cupboards to get something and realising that I've packed it :)

Brain picking time assuming all is good on Friday do I paint the nursery in the new house before we move in in a neutral colour or wait till after my 20 week scan and do something more personal worried painting the nursery at 14 weeks which is what I'll be when we move is tempting fate. What would you guys do?

HollyBen · 19/08/2014 19:55

Personally baby I'd go for neutral and then add more specifics after scan if you want. There was a thread on her recently where someone had been told she was having a girl at 20 weeks then had to have a scan at 38 weeks whete they said it was a boy.

Has anyone else had spells of feeling shaky and a bit spaced out? I have had it before when hungry but usually eating something sorts it quickly. Last night I started feeling a bit odd just as DD was going to bed. By the time I read her story and sang songs I felt dreadful. Came downstairs and DH looked at me and stopped mid phone call to ask if I was ok. I had a banana, some fudge, dinner then a snack size milky way and still felt off at bedtime. Today I was careful all day to keep topped up on food and liquid. Started to feel odd again. Ate popcorn and chocolate at work. Felt awful on way home. Had toast and a nectarine when I got in. Still not feeling right. Not bad per se just not right either.

Babytinx11 · 19/08/2014 20:09

hollyben I get the shakey spaced out thing allot mw sent me to gp after +++ sugar in sample turns out it was lacking calories and low blood sugar go figure he suggested carrying a snack and glucose tablets but Lucozade would do the same as the tablets it normally evens me out. Hope you feel better soon :)

Cakebaker35 · 19/08/2014 20:21

holly yes I had this earlier on. Key for me was not just to keep eating snacks as such (I'm good at treats!) but properly filling things like nuts, cereal, cereal bars, sandwiches etc. and quite a lot more than I had been. Lots to drink too even that means lots of trips to the loo! X

MrsGiraffe12 · 19/08/2014 23:35

I wish this slow labour would sod off now, or turn to real labour! I've a horrendous back ache tonight and the Braxton hicks are coming every 10 mins or so. But no pain to them so am doubting it's the real thing. Urgh

Babytinx11 · 19/08/2014 23:40

:( mrsg you need to have a serious chat with baby g :) have you got a birth ball?? I used one with DS and it really helped speed things up don't ask me how but it's gotta be worth a try if you haven't tried that already

MrsGiraffe12 · 19/08/2014 23:50

baby im willing to try anything, but want to get to Thursday really as me and DH are going to see Lee Evans tomorrow night and it was my Christmas present from him last year so don't want to miss it :-)

I've got a gym ball if that would work?

OP posts:
squizita · 20/08/2014 08:37

Holly yes, I found small high-calorie snacks like mni babybel and things like oat cakes worked well. Also warm drinks. But sometimes I think it was tiredness too.

Ugh, no tired today: went to the look at 3.30am not a wink of sleep since. :(

MrsG hope things happen soon! Thursday of course! :)

Babytinx11 · 20/08/2014 08:44

mrsg yea gym ball will work they are the same thing :) I had a yoga one with DS so i could have a pink one lol just try sitting on it and rolling your hips or bouncing gently while sitting on it :) if you do go natural this time you can use it in labour too as long as your not strapped to the monitor the whole time :) fingers crossed it helps :)

Quiet but not hugely relieved happy dance going on here today is the big 12 weeks for me so hopefully Friday all will still be good and maybe I can start to relax maybe even enjoy it :)

HollyBen · 20/08/2014 08:57

Thanks guys. Always good to know it's not just me. I think the problem is I feel so full by lunch I am not eating much in the afternoon until I feel rubbish. I will try a smaller lunch today see how that goes.

12 week scan is 24 hours and full of the fear. Feels like I have permanent butterflies

Babytinx11 · 20/08/2014 09:21

hollyben what's your due date? Mine scan is Friday and I am actually feeling greatful for the move today to stop me thinking about it :) hope yours goes well
Tomorrow :)

Cakebaker35 · 20/08/2014 09:24

mrsg raspberry leaf tea! a long walk and scrubbing some floors got labour started for me with dd! So enjoy Lee Evans then try all that Grin

amicablemoomin · 20/08/2014 09:36

holly I was shaking before mine, the run up is the worst. Good luck, hope the time passes quickly.

Read everyone's comments about the scary birth thread with some trepidation but have decided there is nothing I can do about it and I will be in the right place for the drugs, as squiz says. At this point (22 weeks) and two MCs and no DD I feel like I am prepared to go through some pain to meet my baby. I might change my mind when I am nearer along though!!!!!
