Win I'm getting back pain too! I've just signed up for a pregnancy pilates class and may start doing Lazy Daisy active birth classes too. My normal yoga stretches don't seem to touch this pain!

Ah jealous of you in normal clothes. I can mostly get away with the Elasticated Trews From M&S (TM) and a normal top but increasingly am using the mat clothes my friend gave me. My abdomen suddenly looks pg this week. Although I suspect it is largely me being a fatso.

I had my first moment of pregnancy courtesy yesterday Grin A lady in the queue for the loos said did I want to go first, and she remembered what it was like! Tbf I was clutching my Bounty pack so this may have been a give-away.

Feather how's the head?

Jess, gosh, 38w! Do you feel any different? Like you're getting ready for labour?

Is anyone else having massive hormonal moments recently? Today at work I suddenly imagined DH had died and what I would do for his funeral Hmm Cried buckets. Thank god I have my own office Hmm I am normally sensible and practical to a fault Confused

jessplussomeonenew · 20/08/2014 18:42

I am trying not to symptom spot but failing utterly! I get the odd twinge which I hope is the baby starting to engage - I have a MW appointment tomorrow so hope she will be able to confirm that it's heading in the right direction. Other than that, I'm much more aware of braxton hicks and have occasional moments of barely perceptible period-pain like achiness, but nothing significant, so I suspect it will be a while yet. Trying not to fixate on my due date....

On the back pain, one thing I've tried to do is keep my tailbone tucked under as much as possible, so that the bump is above my hips as much as possible, rather than tipped forward. I've been trying to do this all the way through the pregnancy and really think it's helped to protect my lower back from being overstrained. I also found it really helped to lie on my back with my knees up and try to flatten my lower back so as to close the gap between it and the floor. (Don't lie on your back if it makes you feel dizzy!) Yoga cat curls were good too, particularly the upward ones.

No suggestions for the hormonal weepiness I'm afraid - just one of those weird things!

FeatherFeather11 · 21/08/2014 09:52

Wow, rp, pregnancy courtesy already! You must really be showing now! I got told off by an old bat on the bus the other day for sitting on the pregnant/disabled seat. I got so embarrassed that I got up! Not sure what she was on about but there was plenty of room on the bus. Oh well.

win I'm not in maternity clothes either! but I nicked your idea on doing up jeans with a hair elastic and it works a treat for now! I wonder how long it will be before my belly 'pops' - experienced Berries, when do you start showing?

jess wow - so exciting. So in theory, it could happen any time now?

Signed up for pregnancy yoga class last night. Starts on September 2. I'm excited. Can't quite believe it. 16 weeks today according to my app. Sorry I've been AWOL - work has been insane recently and I think the headaches were due to work stress. Booked today and tomorrow off to decompress a little bit, so going to go get my nails and hair done and try on some maternity jeans to see what they look like. Would it be weird to book myself in for a sneaky scan just to be sure everything is ok? I don't have a mw appointment till early September so feeling a little lost at sea! Maybe I'm just being silly.

Made the terrible mistake of reading a really upsetting and sad thread on here earlier and now paranoid as hell that my cervix is open and that I will get an infection. I wish my brain would just switch off sometimes. Sheesh!

Also, um, oh has turned into a encyclopaedia on all things pregnancy and birth. Last night, he was discussing, ahem, how if later on, I let him massage my perineum with coconut oil (!!!!!), it may help with tearing! OH. MY. GOD. To be fair, he was giggling about it, but come on!!

Sorry to waffle on btw!

RevoltingPeasant · 21/08/2014 19:31

Oooh feather I'll be doing massage too.

Tonight I have random crampy pains. Hopefully that is just things stretching...... Right?!

I am resolutely not thinking Dark Thoughts about the pregnancy or birth but a tiny part of me is thinking, I told everyone at work this week, it would be Sod's law that something happened.

But that is silly. Right?

Jess good tips on the back stretches. I am paranoid about lying on my back too much but I think it's the only effective way to stretch it. Wow, sounds like you are getting there! Bet it feels like it's going slow though. Interested to hear what your MW will have to say!

I've been feeling more switched on at work, which is a welcome relief.

Bunnygirlie · 21/08/2014 22:34

Helloooooo

win it's common not to feel anything till around 20w. I felt flutters around scan time and then proper kicks a few weeks later, that's when DH could feel through my tum too, that was ace!

I'm 34w tomorrow, just had my NCT class, feels real now!

RP I was in maternity trousers as 15w!

Crikey feather can't believe your OH mentioned bum massage, I scared my hubby when I first told him about it! Shock

I have Jess news! she is being induced due to blood pressure! could have a new berry baby soon Smile send baby vibes her way!!!

RevoltingPeasant · 22/08/2014 08:41

Oh good luck Jess Flowers am sure it will all go swimmingly and you'll have a new baby within hours!!

FeatherFeather11 · 22/08/2014 08:53

Seconding rp, Jess! Sending Berrie vibes your way and wishing you a swift delivery. Another baby Berrie! Hooray! Flowers

winohhh · 22/08/2014 10:00

Ooh Jess!! Good luck, hope it all goes well!!

winohhh · 22/08/2014 10:08

Feather, how did maternity jeans shopping go? Hope you're feeling a bit less stressed after a day or two off! I also feel like I want a sneaky scan before 20 weeks. It feels like such a long wait. My once a week dopple is just about managing to keep me sane!

I know what you mean about the dark thoughts. As soon as I tell anyone I instantly have an urge (so far resisted!) to check heart beat with the doppler.

Also getting random crampy pain RP, hope it's normal!

FeatherFeather11 · 22/08/2014 14:03

win feeling much better, thanks! Have had a couple of work calls to deal with but nothing too hectic. maternity jeans have been bought and are being worn today. So comfortable! Hadn't realised how much belly digging my normal ones were doing! Got a black and a blue pair from Topshop. Also picked up a couple of loose tops. Grin

When's your 20w scans booked in for win and rp? Mine is sept 16. Still thinking about sneaky private scan.Know exactly what you mean by that feeling whenever you share the news with someone win. Oh, and I'm getting funny cramps too - especially round the sides. Hmm

CatsCantFlyFast · 22/08/2014 19:33

I lost you all. Been AWOL due to general tiredness etc but like to keep up and cheer you all from the sidelines so place marking for when I have time to read back.

RevoltingPeasant · 22/08/2014 21:37

I'm wearing mat jeans for the first time today too! Snap Grin weirdly I think they make me look less pg.

I told all my PhD students at work today so am officially public!

Any updates on Jess? Have been thinking of her today!

RevoltingPeasant · 22/08/2014 21:38

Oh and my 20w scan is Friday 19th Sept. It does feel like ages away! But I already get little butterflies thinking about it.

winohhh · 23/08/2014 09:57

Our 20 week scan is 2 weeks on Tuesday... And counting!! I might have to bite the bullet and get some mat jeans soon too.

CatsCantFlyFast · 23/08/2014 14:38

Jess had a baby boy

Can you all be tempted to Facebook yet? I'm going to start setting you up with fake fb accounts for the purpose

ladybunnikins · 23/08/2014 15:44

Congratulations Jess!

FeatherFeather11 · 23/08/2014 16:02

Congratulations jess!! Naww...

merk I promise if everything is ok at my 20w scan, I'll join the fb group. Couldn't bear to join and then have to leave before then.

Wow win - yours is soon! Mat jeans are amazing. Not really showing get but it's so nice not to be wearing my normal jeans and dealing with the digging!

lady how are you doing? How many weeks are you now?

rp taking inspiration from you and trying to banish dark thoughts. Re butterflies: could they be the first flutters?? Grin

Happy bank hol weekend all! I'm mooching and baking and sitting in the sunshine reading and day dreaming!

ladybunnikins · 23/08/2014 16:56

I'm 6 weeks today. All day nausea today has been reassuring but I've had a horrible cold for the last few days. I haven't POAS all week so I'm looking forward to going home tomorrow. On Monday I'm going on a UK break with my parents so I'll tell them then, it will be nice for my mum to have some good news.

RevoltingPeasant · 24/08/2014 14:58

Lady I poas regularly up to the 12w scan.

So the sickness is back, just in time for us to be doing our big DIY project of repainting the entire kitchen. Soooooo sick Envy even water doesn't want to stay down!

So my BH weekend is puking/painting/rinse and repeat.

But 17w tomorrow Shock

Jess hope you are recovering really well and big congrats!

ladybunnikins · 26/08/2014 09:43

I told my parents yesterday because I'm spending this week with them, my mum cried. She's getting a bit carried away and already talking about knitting.

RevoltingPeasant · 26/08/2014 18:15

Aw Lady :) Will you have an early reassurance scan?

ladybunnikins · 26/08/2014 18:29

I've got a scan booked for 8 weeks (6+3 today).

FeatherFeather11 · 26/08/2014 18:37

Lady, would you consider going for one earlier if you're anxious about it? They picked up a heart beat on mine at 6 weeks. Smile

How's everyone else? I'm ok - weird pains and pangs that I'm trying to ignore and now on the countdown for the 20w scan Hmm

KittenOfWoe · 26/08/2014 21:08

~peeps head into copterland~

Hellooooooooo there!
Um so this is where we come to be terrified, right?!?

winohhh · 26/08/2014 21:46

Hello kitten!! Yes, come in! We're all terrified here!! How're you feeling?

I'm getting weird pains too feather. Really sharp ones in my lower abdomen when I sneeze. Think it's round ligament pain maybe?

I almost bought some maternity jeans today. Almost! Chickened out though!

Sounds like you got a nice reaction from your parents lady! Mine are grandparents many times over and their response was fairly lukewarm!!

How're you feeling today RP? Any better? Sorry the sickness is still there. I don't feel anything, certainly not pregnant, I wonder if I could still be pregnant and feel totally normal??
