Do scans have the fathers name on?

Hi, hope someone can help, my sons x girlfriend has turned up with a scan of 9 week twins and printed on the scan in the left hand corner just under sex unknown it says fathers name and has his name on.
I do not think its real and wondered if there is anyone out there who has had a scan at The University Hospital north staffs and if they can tell me if the hospital put the fathers name on scans.

Absolutely right trazzletoes, they simply won't and can't release that information.

duvet I didn't think you were being rude Smile

OP I know you don't owe her anything but she could get into a lot of trouble if she has been using her professional access to produce dodgy scans and appointment emails.

I doubt your son will be able to get any information from the hospital if he rings. They will not give out details about a third party.

I am not sure what you can do apart from wait to see how far she will take this. I suspect a few 'scares' and the inevitable 'miscarriage' though.

If she is harassing your son has he considered calling the police and logging his concerns?

The email thing sounds like tosh to me I'm afraid

Get her to take a pregnancy test that you have bought, in your house

It all sounds like a lie to me as well

Thanks all, she turns up at his work twice a day, drives past the house several times a day, phones his friends and now the pregnancy.I feel sorry for her but they only went out together for 10 weeks, he was getting up to 50 texts a day until he blocked her, she has also threatened to kill herself all this has happened in the last couple of weeks.

10 weeks but 9 weeks pregnant with twins? Hmmm

Fishier than a shelf-ful of tuna. Never seen a scan with a baby's father's name on - no offence but it's irrelevant at that point. Plus how would a scan identify who the father was? As a nurse she really should have thought of the faulty logic with all this! And yes, the email about the appointment is suspicious too.

I'd also expect either a 'miscarriage' or a 'termination', potentially with an accusation that it's his fault in some way for rejecting her / driving her to it / stressing her out.

I agree that he should call the police. He's being stalked, and that should be reported.

Maybe you could have a quick online search to see if there are any other scans from the same hospital to see if the format is the same?

Or post the picture of her scan Grin

Agree with everyone, sounds fake

I will take a picture of the scan tomorrow and post it, it has measurements in inches and weight in oz
Fetus 2.59 in
0.38 oz so it could be American
Thanks I'm off to bed.

I can't spell foetus/ feotus...? But we don't spell it like "fetus" in the UK do we? Genuinely bemused now.

Report
EverythingCounts · 11/07/2014 23:50

No, fetus is American spelling. It's fake.

Trazzletoes · 11/07/2014 23:52

Thanks Everything I was starting to second guess myself!

MrsGrumpyPants · 11/07/2014 23:53

We measure in mm on UK scans. And weight is in grammes.

Also you would not generally estimate fetal weight on a 9 week scan. All you can measure at that gestation is length. I would be very interested to see the image.

The "fetus" spelling is not a giveaway though, many machines use the American spelling, and many of us use it too.

MrsGrumpyPants · 12/07/2014 00:03

Also, a 9 week foetus would be about 2cm in size, but certainly not 2 inches.

Really must go to bed, but have just looked at the site that SoonToBeSix found. They provide personalised faked ultrasound photos. If her "scan" looks anything like this then you can be pretty sure it's fake.

She clearly has mental health issues either way, for which I genuinely hope she gets attention.

scotch I wasn't promoting the website just suggesting to the op that's where she might have got the scan from.

*SoonToBeSix" amazing sleuthing, I would put money on it being from that site going on the details OP has provided. It even has a space for "fathers name" right underneath "sex".

Oh yes forgot to say OP, the "sex of baby" line simply is not something that appears on UK ultrasound machines.

scotchtikidoll · 12/07/2014 00:22

SoonToBeSix oh I know! I wasn't saying that you are disgusting for putting up the link at all- I clicked on the site and was so shocked by it. As in, it is disgusting that such a thing even exists.

I've had about 3 posts today misunderstanding me, I need to take a course in communicating effectively I think Grin

That should read 3 posters today misunderstanding me. See what an idiot I am!

Report

As MrsGrumptyPants says, good sleuthing, especially as there is indeed a space for the fathers name (A quick search shows that even genuine American sonograms do not show this)

This find, combined with the fact that the measurements on the potentially fake scan are in inches and ounces, further show that it is likely this scan was from a website like this.

I am convinced.

It doesnt really matter if it was a genuine scan (i dont think it is hers) with his name as father on it. She could give father christmas' name but but doesnt mean he's the father.

Dont worry OP. a DNA test will tell you what you need to know. Name on a scan means naff all.

I'd be calling the police BTW.

ProtegeMoi · 12/07/2014 00:52

Shocked at that fake a baby website! How are fake DNA tests even legal?

What do they think people do at the end of this fake pregnancy? Encourages child kidnapping in my view.

Tread very carefully OP!

I also know of someone doing something like this, they were a HCP too. It resulted in them losing their career. It's hard to believe that anyone with half a brain would think they could get away with it.

I also think the hospital won't tell you much, at best they may confirm that they don't put the father's name on scans, email appointments to fathers or use inches for measurements (has to be American). I have no idea what you should do other than be hugely suspicious.
