Hand holding and fish slapping...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
fedupofrainydays · 21/07/2014 22:19

Me too g&t but more so about putting on mat clothes full stop. It's ridiculous really but I think we all feel like that. Somehow acknowledging a pregnancy makes it more likely to go wrong. Now where is the logic in that?! We are all bonkers together Grin

Anyone told about whooping cough jab? Seem not to mention it in my area this time (did with my first mc). Is it not a big deal any more?

OneLittleToddleTerror · 22/07/2014 04:52

fedup I was sent a pamphlet and was told to book for the jab at my GP between 28 and 32 weeks. I think squizita has just had hers too. Maybe you need to chase it up?

Cuppachaplz · 22/07/2014 06:39

loving all the fab news on here :)
gail that's fabulous.
squiz hope you enjoyed the food porn and biccies; sounds divine!
gandt, i've been exactly the same about maternity clothes; refusing to buy anything, and squeezing myself into the one pair of low rise jeans I own, and a couple of floaty summer dresses (not a good look as I cycle off to work!!! eeek). I remember the roasting I got off of the mother care lady for squeezing myself into my usual bras, when she measured me and found the cups were 5 sizes too small. yikes. hope you are feeling better soon xx
news here is that I am starting to feel much better. I am past 17 weeks now (maybe, depending on which date one takes...) which was when I had my second to latest MC. Only one more to pass, and I might relax. 20 week scan in a fortnight (which was when I found out about the problems that caused 22 week loss), so maybe if all goes well, I can relax and embrace bumpiness.
I saw the consultant finally yesterday, who was horrified at how late I'd been left before seeing him (my notes got lost, yet again), and that I still hadn't been investigated. He took bloods for various causes of RMC, and spent hours on the phone trying to track down old notes from previous hospitals and also from my disaster delivery of DS and all the subsequent problems. Also a quick scan showed very wriggly, active baby. (S)he has lost a couple of days growth again, but since that seems to be the running theme, I think they are working on the small baby logic :) It finally feels like I am visible, being listened to, and not just that people are waiting for me to fail again, which is such a relief. Doc feels that the constant migraines and vomiting which I have been having are likely stress related, but is looking into it nonetheless, but maybe with some good news, things may subside a little.
sticky hugs to all, thanks to everyone for helping to keep me (moderately) sane over the last few week xx

MrsGiraffe12 · 22/07/2014 07:04

babytinx how far along are you? I suspected I had one at around 13 weeks or so as I had a little lump appear, but didn't do anything about it as it wasn't painful. Then at 16 weeks I was up A and E at stupid o'clock one night as I was in agony. They diagnosed an umbilical hernia caused by the pregnancy (because my abdominal muscles seperated). They said it shouldn't cause problems really but have to keep an eye out for pain and swelling etc incase it becomes impacted/strangulated which can be life threatening. They said as my pregnancy advances it should become less painful, which generally it has, but it's quite large now and you can see it under my tops etc. If I've had a particularly busy day or I bash it on something I know about it too as it hurts. I've seen a surgeon about it and obviously they won't opperate when pregnant unless it becomes strangulated, but am booked in to see the consultant in December when baby is about 3 months old, to see if it's still there, and I have a surgery appointment for a week later if it is. They said in most adult cases they won't go away on their own and especially in non pregnant people the risks of having them there are higher than surgery as your bowels can get trapped, which doesn't tend to happen when pregnant as baby pushes them away.

My god I've rambled on, but yes, see your gp Hun, they may refer you like mine did x

Davidtennantmistress · 22/07/2014 07:27

Hi all am here reading good to see everyone's getting on well. I'm now queasy by morning and night but ok in the afternoon touch wood bobs have settled down somewhat, yest was very sickly day.

Ref clothes I'd just bought myself the next size up after admitting defeat, my 14's just soooo unrealistic, anyhow they're now too tight. :( can you get an extender of sorts like you can doe a bra? A lough I maxwell just get some ribbing and cut the tops off/make my own lol.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 22/07/2014 08:35

dtm you can get bump bands and don't button up your trousers and hold them together with hair ties. (I got my bump bands from new look if you are interested). But tbh, it's useless because even if the buttons aren't done up, the zip bit is still too tight, unless I guess you don't even do your zip up? I swapped to leggings which are a lot more stretchy.

Babytinx11 · 22/07/2014 08:56

mrsg I'm 7 weeks it's been there since DS was born I'll mention it next time I see my gp thank you I don't really like going to see the gp always feel like I'm making a fuss about nothing but I'll go and see them and at least it's there that I said something :)

So glad things are going well cuppa

blankfornames · 22/07/2014 09:08

Good morning ladies.
G&T, I say do it! There's little that we can do to make ourselves good during these times so why not splash out in a few new threads!
Ok ladies, I need a fish slap to beat all fish slaps! I'm 9+5 today. Apart from tiredness, i haven't experienced any ms. Although my boobs have increased in size, I just don't feel pregnant. I had a small bleed during wk 6, had a, private scan at 7+5 and all was great. I'm two weeks away from my 12 scan & am really scared that Bean has stopped growing. All symptoms have gone. I had another brown bleed last night (no pain). DH hates me thinking negatively but after our last experience, I'm petrified that it has all gone wrong.
Has anyone else had symptoms disappear at this early stage with the same discharge?
Sorry for the negafrikkintivity this morning. Sad
Great to hear all the good scan news of late..long may it continue!

Cakebaker35 · 22/07/2014 11:05

Good to hear all the positive news on here x and totally the same about maternity clothes, but I'm just feeling huge so have bitten the bullet and put them on. I think it's fair enough to buy some new ones too though, why not if it helps.

blank re. lack of symptoms I had absolutely none except tiredness with dd so it's not necessarily a problem (although felt terrible this time) but I know exactly the worry you feel, I think the only thing that can reassure you is a private scan but you need to be prepared that it may only reassure you for a short time. But I say do whatever helps you feel more relaxed.

So more bleeds over the weekend and another scan at epu today. There is no sign of what may be causing it now (no more clots in there) so guesses at the moment are possible low lying placenta, although that can't be confirmed until 20 wks as most are low at this stage (I'm 14+1), or other then that just one of those things. I have to go back with any further bleeds but otherwise it's a crap waiting game. On the one hand it feels good to have made it to the 2nd trimester but on the other I feel a loss from now on would just be completely hideous and finish me off frankly. Hospital are lovely but they can't really offer much assurance without knowing a cause. So more fish slaps please, I'm going to need them to keep me sane.

blankfornames · 22/07/2014 12:24

Thanks Cakebaker. Since I got up this morning, I'm feeling quite dizzy, so I'm secretly delighted and taking it as a symptom!
Sorry that you are still bleeding. You think once you get to 12 wks that you're home & dry. At least the hospital is giving you support but bleeding really is quite unsettling. Thanks for your reply, feel relieved that you had no symptoms either!

Happilymarried155 · 22/07/2014 12:38

blank my symptoms stopped around a similar time to outs and I was fretting abit but had a scan at 10 weeks and everything was perfect! I've heard that symptoms can get a lot better around this time as the placenta starts to work. I'm sure everything is fine! I'm still feeling not too bad so I'm making the most of it incase they come back!!! X

blankfornames · 22/07/2014 12:46

Thank you Happily! That is definitely reassuring. I guess, i should put my posafrickentivity face on & be grateful that I'm feeling good!
Glad you're feeling well also...let's seize the moment & replace fish slaps for walking shoes!

Davidtennantmistress · 22/07/2014 13:33

thank you i'll look into those.

blank i'm 9 weeks today and also worried, symptoms have drastically reduced, so much so i'm considering a scna net monday but not telling hubs as he'thinks we should wait but 12 week one will be at least 2-3 weeks away & not sure I can go that long lol. Although i did have my first i need a night tiwee last night. and I'm back to wanting to sit and cry for no reason!

GandTnow · 22/07/2014 14:50

I'm 10 weeks today and must say that I haven't felt as bad as last time with ms (so far!). I really don't think it means anything one way or the other - perhaps its an old wives tale to cheer up women when they feel like poo that its for a good cause!?

I have days of feeling rubbish, then some days its just part of the day and other days I feel tip top. Last time I felt like pants and it all went wrong anyway. Confused Hang in the first trimester freak out -ers - we're not far off now!

HopefulHamster · 22/07/2014 15:13

sympathies to those struggling with symptoms or lack of. I was in a real panic because I didn't have ANY until the baby started moving. Maybe a bit of tiredness and hunger but nothing out of the ordinary. It was worse because it was similar to when I miscarried but actually I think it's just how my body deals with pregnancy hormones.

slaps for you, Cake! It sounds like with the scans etc that everything is fine but at the same time the panic is completely understandable. We're told you don't bleed in pregnancy (I mean generally speaking) and yet in my experience most people do at some point!

Babytinx11 · 22/07/2014 15:54

Currently having another scan related melt down fish slap please someone I have a scan tomorrow morning and I am terrified something is going be wrong this one is exactly the same time we lost the baby last time and I'm scared the ou comfort I seem to be able to get is that if something is wrong then at least this time we aren't going to find out 3 weeks later well in theory that is huge freak out going on which has made me the grumpiest of grumpy people all day :(

InternetFOREVER · 22/07/2014 16:06

Lovely to see so many positive developments here! Gives me hope it might happen for me too...
GandT I avoided this problem by piling weight on after each MC, so have been in my mat jeans/ trousers regardless! Sooo comfy, might keep buying them forever Grin
Blank I never really had any symptoms with my DS (the only time I was sick during my pregnancy was when I was in hospital waiting to give birth!) so you should absolutely stay positive!
Gail I should get a scan next week at 6 weeks, as I'm had previous suspected ectopics so they need to see what's where. Unfortunately I have a tilted uterus so generally my early scans are pretty inconclusive, which means a couple of weeks in limbo while they monitor things. Although maybe this time there'll be a proper 6 week fetus and they'll find it straight off! GP sent me for BHCG test (to repeat tomorrow) but lab are refusing to process it for her, so hopefully I'll get an appt with EPU soon as lab has said they'll process it if the consultant approves it. So up and down today, feeling hopeless this morning but seem to have shaken it off, for now!
GP yesterday also told me I have lupus anticoagulants, which could be cause of RMC. Do any of you have the same? I've been taking 75mg aspirin, but did the same in the last pregnancy and it didn't seem to make a difference.

blankfornames · 22/07/2014 19:09

Thanks ladies for all the reassurance. Despite still spotting, I have a spring in my step. I like your tactical scan moves David! I might see if I can last two more weeks but if not, I'll be following you with the scan. My (oversharing) friend put a pic of her Gran listening to her baby's heartbeat using a stethescope. She's 30 weeks and it worked! I think I would become slightly fanatical about it so will step away from all medical equipment for as long as I can!
So who is the first on the cards to have their thread baby?

fedupofrainydays · 22/07/2014 19:34

I don't think symptoms mean that much to be honest as I had then all with my mmc. Sickness, the works. Didn't stop me obsessing over them with subsequent pregnancies (incl this one) though. Made me hate my body as felt it lied to me that I was pregnant by making me feel so damn pregnant.

This heat is horrific. I want to sit in a cool pool, not the roasting bakerloo line that is now a sauna. Ugh.

28 week mw check yesterday. So am creeping up the stats list but still a fair few ahead of me. And still can't quite comprehend a take home baby at end of this!

MrsGiraffe12 · 22/07/2014 19:49

Hi all. Just skim read the thread as is summer holidays here and DS wants to go to the beach :) glad to see we have so much positve news :-)

I've updated the stats for us, and have deleted anyone who's due date was more than 2 weeks ago who we haven't heard from etc. I think I've added everyone who wanted to be added but please do shout if I've missed you:

Just realised that I've still not been added so have done it myself. Hope nobody minds

Ps - I didn't write "Just realised that I've still not been added so have done it myself. Hope nobody minds" that's my poor copy and paste skills :-(

fedupofrainydays · 22/07/2014 19:58

Eeeek I'm 9th! Thanks mrsg

Babytinx11 · 22/07/2014 20:06

I'm not on there yet

OneLittleToddleTerror · 22/07/2014 20:24

I'm with fedup about symptoms. I had really bad morning all day sickness with my MMC. So don't get so hang up about the lack of symptoms.

Oh and the heat! When is it going to stop. My office and bedroom upstairs are both so hot. Downstairs at home is ok but I can't sleep downstairs.

Can't believe I'm 5th on the stats list.
