Hiya! Where are you all? Had my first aqua natal today, have felt quite down of late and thought it might perk me up. Was good to meet other mums to be though and keep going.

quacks, sorry to hear you are feeling low. well done you for aqua natal. i am feeling so big and breathless even walking up the hill with ds seems a tall order. i am making a rod for my own back, as he is hopeless at walking anyway so sure i am making him worse! went to a physio session run by the local hospital yesterday for tips on how to alleviate back pain and SPD (i got this around 32 weeks with ds) which was quite useful.
went to mothercare and babiesrus today (ds at nursery) to look at stuff! going to buy baby a new moses basket as the other has been used by quite a few babes now and is looking a little worse for wear. i'm quite scared at the thought of dealing with 2 children, particularly as ds has always and still is a real mummy's boy.
anyway, i'm rambling now. bed-time. hope everyone else due in july is ok. it's getting close

littlerach · 29/04/2004 14:24

How old is DS, MG? DD is just 3, and wonderful, but bossy and I am starting to worry about having 2!! Bit late now, I guess!!!We have also put our house on the market, so more stress!! Although a good reason to have a clear out.
I feel huge, and find it hard to get comfy in bed, usually I wake up aching and desperate for a wee!

madgirl · 30/04/2004 01:46

hi littlerach, ds was 3 at end of feb- so same gap as you! dh and i look at each other periodically and say shit! what have we done?! too late now! but dh will be buggering off to work every day!
i am also finding it increasingly uncomfortable at night. god almighty i wasn't like this til i was about 35 weeks last time. i'm 29 now, will i be able to stand up without falling over at 39 weeks?

Quackers · 30/04/2004 14:29

Hiya, my DD is bossy too, think it's a girl thing! She likes to be in control and can't wait to take over when the new baby arrives. I do wonder how we will all get on with 2 of them. I suppose we'll adjust as we did with the first - at least we know what to expect this time!

I started knitting a baby jumber yesterday - for the 1st time since I was about 13!!
Had to go on the web to re-learn how to cast on, but now feeling very mumsy and art-crafty.
Does anyone know of a good knitting website?
It's actually really therapeutic you know - if I actually manage to finish this jumber, it willl be the 1st time I've ever managed to knit a whole garment!
How exciting!(apparently knitting is trendy now, cos the girl in lost in translation was making a scarf...)

bzhmum · 30/04/2004 16:50

'jumber'?!
it's typing lessons i need, not knitting!

littlerach · 30/04/2004 22:06

bzhmum, I am impressed!!!

SpringChicken · 05/05/2004 18:23

just been for a/n check up at 30 weeks, into last stretch now, fortnightly checks now. baby moving regularly but not earth shatteringly- it's def another boy! we are having nightmares with boy's names. hope everyone is doing ok.

Quackers · 05/05/2004 23:52

Hiya, just q quickie, had a great time, just need a rest now!!! Where is everyone then?? MG, you;re off to Elveden is it or Longleat?? There were LOADS of bumps at CP's!

OP posts:
bzhmum · 06/05/2004 20:50

hello
i've been developing blue bruises and some varicose veins on my lower right leg - not very bad as yet, but I thought i'd go to see a homeopath and see whether he had any natural remedies to help improve circulation.
He gave me a plant-based tincture to take as drops, some homeopathic remedies for some psoriasis I have on my scalp, and some other tablets for circulation (not homeopathic).
When I read the notice on these last tablets, it said they weren't recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women!
I haven't taken them, but now I'm wondering about the other stuff as well, and have lost faith in pharmacists and homeopaths.

madgirl · 07/05/2004 14:27

bzhmum how very very frustrating and annoying for you. start a thread and see if anyone else can recommend anything you can take whilst you're pregnant. quackers you're back! yes, we're off to elvedon tomorrow for 4 nights- any last minute tips for us? do we have to take pool towels if we're in an exec villa?

Quackers · 08/05/2004 14:26

Sorry MG missed you! Have have rels over for a couple of days - hope you have a great time!!!!

Can we make a concious effort to keep this thread going now - i feel all sad seeing us at the bottom of the pile

Figured out what the pain was that i had been experiencing - KIDNEY INFECTION Got taken into hospital on Saturday morning as baby hadn't been moving much and i was in complete agony with lower back pain. Ran lots of tests and put me on a trace - baby was fine and started moving as soon as the midwife set the machine up.

They found traces of blood in my urine and decided it was probably a Kidney Infection - sent a sample of to the lab to be sure so just waiting to hear for definite now - I've never felt pain like it before - i thought i was going into labour - Completely freaked out.
Anyway, feel a million times better now - the lack of sleep was making me feel so much worse - all caught up now though and feel much better.

Glad you had a good time at CP Quacks - i love it there - how is everyone else doing then - i'm 30+2 now - on the home straight - starting toget a bit nervous now though, everything seems so close and so real now

Toothache · 09/05/2004 13:52

SC - That's what they think I had 2 wks ago. Very scary and VERY painful! They sent an ambulance for me. After 7 days of strong Antibiotics and alot of TLC from DH I feel fantastic.... better than I have done the whole pregnancy. They think it could have been something that had been 'festering' for a few weeks and it had irritated my uterus to start contracting! All's well now though.

My GOD you're 30wks already?? Not long to go. It's so nerve-wracking and exciting and overwhelming and bewildering.... all rolled into one. And it doesn't get any less so the 2nd time around.

If it's any comfort to you then I found the kidney infection pain waaaaaaay more unbearable than labour pains. So if you coped with that then you'll be fine in labour.

carwillin · 09/05/2004 15:29

Hello all, sorry to hear about your pains SC. I have just been diagnosed with SPD and waiting for a physio appt. but the pain can be unbearable at times - I'm not sure how I'm gonna cope with labour! But also at 30+2 I am really looking forward to it aswell.

Hope everyone else is doing well and enjoying their pregnancy

Quackers · 09/05/2004 23:15

Glad you;re feeling better Jems, that sounds like a bit of a fright. You're right though, this thread has been very quiet lately!

Well, my news. I had a growth scan today as my DD had that growth retardation thingy. This baby is 2 weeks behind up to now. I;m seeing the consultant tommorow and the doc today thinks they'll do more scans and checks. I'm not too worried as I was small, my sis was small and DD was. Babbs just needs an extra eye, so I don;t want anything that might interfere with that. It moves loads has a good strong heartbeat and the sonographer did a doppler scan of the umbilical cord and it looked great so hopefully, it will just be a case of a small baby again and they will induce me just before due date or on.
My bump certainly isn;t small though!

Any news from the rest of you?? Hope you;re all keeping well though, now we're on the home straight!!!!

Glad you got it sorted, Jems, how horrid.
I am about 28 wks now, have an appt with MW on Fri for my blood!!! DH has booked us a weekend away this weekend coming for our anniversary, it's a surprise so I am v. excited!!! DD is off to my mums and is excited!!
Have been having strange movements from baby, can only describe them as "cervical" kicks! Does anyone know what I mean?
Had an offer put in on our house today, but we have said they need to increase it, so hopefully they wil...all this waiting!
My SIL is due in 9 days, she is getting impatient now.
Promise to try and keep this thread nearer the top!!
XXX

bzhmum · 10/05/2004 13:39

Hello
i've been felling kicks quite low down too, then higher up, then on one side, then the next.
I've been told that the baby is moving about 'like a goldfish in a bowl' at this stage!
I'm now entering the 29th week (I think) and everything's fine so far
Took the unsuitable circulation pills I was prescribed back to the pharmacist (and gave them a bit of a bollocking), but am still taking a plant-based tincture in the hope that it will prevent my varicose veins from getting worse.

My main worry is flying back home for the birth (at 33 weeks) It's a 2 hour flight - the airline won't take pregnant women after 35 weeks! Will be glad when that's out of the way. Has anyone else taken a flight during late pregnancy?

Toothache · 10/05/2004 14:03

Hello July people... I've been getting kicked in my cervix too Littlerach! IKWYM. It's like deep 'thuds' right on my pelvic floor muscles (Oh GOD please let them hold!! Couldn't handle the bottom falling out of me. )

I will be 27 wks on Friday so I'm a weeeee bit behind you lot.

Glad things are fine Quacks. At least you know that small babies are a trend in your family. The old lady next door to me was telling me that none of her 3 children weighed more than 5lb!! They were all born between 40 and 50 yrs ago and all turned out just fine. She was just sent home and told to keep them surrounding by hot water bottles until they out on a couple of pounds! Amazing.

Now her daughter is pregnant with her 3rd and she seems to go into labour at 35wks so has small babies too. Isn't strange how these things seem to be genetic?

I hope labour is genetic coz my Mum had a 20min labour with her 2nd baby (me) !

sponge · 10/05/2004 17:49

Hi all. Thought I'd pop in here as I'm due August 4th so coud easily be July (fingers crossed).
Lots of kicks everywhere for me too, including the pelvic floor thud. As if there wasn't enough trouble trying not to pee yourself when sneezing/ running/jumping etc without the little one conspiring to make it worse!
bzhmum, I'm planning to fly to New York at 30 weeks. The airline is happy to carry up to 36 weeks with a note from doctor or midwife so I'm not too worried. With only a two hour flght the chances of you giving birth mid-air are pretty slim I'd have thought

Quackers · 10/05/2004 20:01

Hiya, yes I think we just have little tiddlers that eventually grow into whales!
BZHmum, don;t worry about the flight, it's not long at all. I was cabin crew on long flights for 8 yrs and we had lots of pg women late on. We would just tell them to walk around every half an hour, do ankle twists in your seat and wear support tights/stockings and drink lots of water. We had about 3 births in the air per year, which given the number travelling was very low. Bet your looking forward to coming back then soon!

Hello everyone! Just to let you know that my baby has arrived! Mollie Olivia came into this world on Friday 30th April at 01.31 Basically, I had a show last tuesday and was carted off to hospital and the neck of my womb was 1cm open. Had mild pains in the evening but came to nothing. Nothing happenned until thursday. I was originally spending most of the day moaning about having to spend another night in hospital. Just after 10pm I started getting these almighty period pains but no tummy tightenings. Was carted off the the labour ward and was found to be 2cm dilated.

Because of my history, and the fact that they felt it was important to get my baby out asap with the minimum of distress to her, a caesarean was duly done. It bad (had music on in the background) apart from itching like crazy afterwards! Mollie was lifted out at 01.31 screaming her head off but to me it was the best sound in the world. I had a quick look and she was whisked off to intensive care whilst I was stitched up.

I am pleased to say that she is doing very, very well. She also got 10/10 on the agphar score thingy. She is 2 pounds 10 0z and 38 cm long. She's feeding well and has been breathing on her own (except for a touch of assistance in the first few hours of friday morning). All the doctors are very hopeful and optimistic that she will be fine.

Unfortuntately I have to accept the fact that I have an irritable womb and whilst I can conceive easily, I cannot carry a baby to full term Mollie followed the exact pattern of my last two. I bleed then my baby arrives three days later. They also all came on a friday!

I can just sit and stare at Mollie all day! She had this little babygrow on this morning and looked so sweet! I could go on for ages!

Good luck everyone! I hope everything goes really, really well for you all. Although I haven't contributed much, I have looked at this thread everyday and have really enjoyed it!
