Yeah! I am so pleased for you! Was thinking how it would be such a shame for you to not have the home-birth you longed for with a trusted midwife. What a beautiful name for a lovely little girl (who did not weigh 10 lbs after all!!) Looking forward to reading all of the details.

mears · 17/07/2004 19:49

Congratulations . looking forward to hearing your birth story? How were the children?

vivat · 18/07/2004 02:18

Hi madgirl, and welcome to little Dominic who sounds gorgeous. How is ds1 coping with it all ? Sorry to hear you're not feeling so good. Would love to come and see you in a week or two ?

carwillin · 18/07/2004 05:49

CONGRATULATIONS

I'm so glad you got the birth you wanted, I'm sure she was worth the wait after all.

carwillin · 18/07/2004 09:17

Morning all, how is everyone going?

I have woke up this morning feeling really sick, is this normal at 40+1 weeks or should I be phoning the MW?

Thanks

MarmaladeSun · 18/07/2004 10:35

Hi all and thanks. The children were brilliant; they slept through until about 8ish, so missed the first 4 hours and then they just wandered in and out but always checked first if it was ok to come in. They met their baby sister when she was a minute old and still attached to the cord. A truly beautiful moment. They have also taken great delight in the fact that Mummy does a mean Tarzan impression apparently! LOL. Will post details later.

MarmaladeSun · 18/07/2004 12:25

Hi Carwillin. I've come to the conclusion that, at least as far as this pg is concerned, NOTHING is normal! I tripped over yesterday afternoon, and within 10 minutes was having contractions; some as close as 3 minutes apart, and they carried on all evening until I went to bed. Didn't ease off with bath or anything. Then, still had them this morning, thinking 'great, at last'. Now it's stopped AGAIN!!! I can't tell you how fed up I am with it . I think I am in line for the longest labour ever! LOL. Think it's lasted about 3 weeks now. Sorry to hear you're feeling sick. Not sure if it's a help or a hindrance to you, but I was sick throughout both my previous labours so could well be the start of it for you . Keep posting ok?

carwillin · 18/07/2004 13:25

Still here, feeling a little bit better after a piece of toast but I'm still getting waves of nausea but without any pain.

I hope you are OK after your fall yesterday, not the best idea for starting labour though

Hopefully we can't be far away!

Toothache · 18/07/2004 14:36

YEAH! Congratulations Marmaladesun!!

Any news from Springchicken?

hewlettsdaughter · 18/07/2004 15:17

Congrats MarmaladeSun - glad it all worked out

Lupe · 18/07/2004 16:27

DH has obviously condemned me to going over my due date by weeks by telling everyone that he's convinced I'm 'going to drop' this week

Anything going on with you, bzhmum?

Quackers · 18/07/2004 17:56

Marmalade sun, it;s frustrating! If it;s any consolation I had 3 weeks of what you describe and went 8 days overdue, BUT when I did go into proper labour it only lasted 1 hour 40 mins! Maybe you'll be rewarded! ??

My baby has turned breech! Can you believe the cheek! 10 weeks of cephalic and now it decides to uproot and be adventurous!! So I have a scan any next Tuesday and they will take it from there but could end up with C section if it doesn't move back!

what? still no more babies? blimey we're half way through july almost. vivat hi, ds1 not as bad (thus far) as we'd feared. would LOVE a visit when my perianal haematoma has subsided (effing nightmare) but yes, dominic is dreamy i have to say. waiting for him to wake up and start causing the havoc i had convinced he would make in the household!
quackers that baby must be a boy, to be so awkward! how do you feel about section?

hana · 18/07/2004 21:51

Quacks - much longer now? Can't believe how quickly it's gone. I'm 17 weeks now - nicely popped out at last and feeling pretty good. Those days seem such a long time ago now. Best of luck - to everyone here over the next few weeks!!
xx hana

MarmaladeSun · 18/07/2004 22:51

Hi Quackers. You've made me feel so much better. Like the midwife said, no pain is wasted so I'm hoping that all these pains are actually doing some of the work for me. I had an appointment today, and she said that she will do a 'sweep' on Thursday and if nothing happens then I will need to go to hospital on Monday to discuss induction. I was ready to protest until she explained that as far as she could tell the baby was already 8lb - 9lb (I'm measuring 42 weeks) and a home birth might be a bit risky, especially as she is going on hols on Saturday and a different midwife would be delivering it. Hmm...food for thought isn't it? Not sure I fancy going too far over and having a 10lber at home with only gas and air for comfort!!! You must be gutted about the baby turning breech. I have to admit it was one of my fears. Madgirl, I can't believe there have been no more July babies yet either. I thought there'd be a steady stream of them to encourage us that are lagging behind. Has anyone heard from Spring Chicken? She was due on Saturday too.

Lupe · 19/07/2004 09:25

Congratulations MarmaladeSun - your description of the kids coming in brought a tear to my eye... It sounds wonderful. I can't wait to try for a homebirth now on my second! (living conditions permitting )

HelloMama, I've been getting some stronger tightening of my abdoment lately - not quite painful but definitely more 'feelable' than anything I've had previously. Not in the morning though, but regularly now for the last couple of evenings, plus occasional lower back pain. And I did a bit of super-nesting yesterday getting the place ready for baby so I'm hoping... I wasn't really ready last week as I was still finishing off a few bits of work but now she can come as soon as she likes!

Lupe · 20/07/2004 09:17

It's all gone very quiet - don't tell me everyone else is in the throes of labour

carwillin · 20/07/2004 09:41

I wish, I'm starting to get really down now, I've tried EVERYTHING to get this labour started but nothing.

If baby hasn't arrived by Thursday, it's induction time, why doesn't this baby understand??

How is everyone else getting on?
