Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
smellymelly · 12/07/2004 11:52

Thought I'd come and visit you here Quackers. Wow only 3 weeks to go, I have the rest of the year!!

Good luck to all those expecting their bundles of joy this month.

carwillin · 12/07/2004 12:04

Congratulations MadGirl

I'm getting so excited now, I can't wait any longer!!! Still having twinges but nothing very regular

MarmaladeSun · 12/07/2004 12:25

Hi all. Wow, you can sense the excitement can't you? I really thought it was time last night, as I was having very strong, very regular contractions last night, at one stage every 4 minutes but only lasting about 20 secs so I thought I'd go to bed, see if I could snatch a few hours sleep and then call mw. Well, I woke at 4.30 this morning for it all to have stopped AGAIN!!! I've been in this 'false labour' for about 2 weeks now and it's driving me bonkers. I can't believe I'm heading towards my due date as I was convinced this one would come early, but with only 3 days to go it looks like I was wrong. The exciting thing is it could start at any time for any of us.

Freddiecat · 12/07/2004 14:46

congratualtions madgirl!!!

know what you mean about being in false labour for 2 weeks marmaladesun. i have gone beyond all the tried and trusted starters and now convinced myself that the baby would not be born until i won a game of solitaire ont he computer (just did it). i have also now got round to ordering the replacement electrodes for the tens machine which clearly means i will have the baby before they arrive.

have another docs appt tomorrow and i'm sure another sweep will be done (are too many sweeps bad?) just realised that i meant to have my hair cut last week and with all the hiatus of not being in labour i forgot and now it looks bad and since i am not driving can't go and get it done so will look like a right sloppy woman shortly

littlerach · 12/07/2004 18:48

Well, I am not sure when I will next be able to post, as we are internet=less as from tomorrow.
Will do my best to sneak into DH's office and use his!

Good luck to all of you, look forward to hearing all the details soon, and to catching up on the parenting threads.

Big hugs!!!

MarmaladeSun · 12/07/2004 19:36

Good luck Littlerach. Try and keep us posted. Freddiecat. I'm so glad I'm not the only one to feel like this. There have been more developments today, as I had another show this afternoon, and my bump has dropped incredibly, noticeably low. My feet and lower legs have swelled attractively too . I did the haircut thing last week, I had shoulder length hair and it is now cropped a la Halle Berry. When hubby asked me why I had had it cropped I said 'cos I'm fed up looking like Pauline Quirk'!!!!!Mind you, it'll need cutting again before this little one makes an appearance.

Lupe · 13/07/2004 13:04

good luck to everyone, and big congratulations to Madgirl - I'm sure you realize we're all madly jealous!!!

I'm v. happy 'cos babe has turned herself round from a posterior position to a lateral on (on her way right to the front I hope!) so I'm doing everything I can to encourage her to stay there.

Just 2 weeks to go to my due date, the odd twingey thing that I suppose are early signs of pre-labour but as a first timer it's all new to me!

Toothache · 13/07/2004 18:07

WOW! Congratulations Madgirl.

bzhmum · 13/07/2004 19:19

good to hear your baby's moving 'round, lupe - I
have NO motivation to fo ANYTHING at the moment -just want to get it out now!

for the first time, I feel bored with the whole thing

MarmaladeSun · 13/07/2004 19:52

Mother of God...if this is the start of labour I can't remember it being this sudden or painful in my back! Woke up with niggling pains this morning, but unlike the last 2 weeks they have continued all day, and have now suddenly hit! Could this be 'it' at last???? At least I didn't miss the kids' sports day LOL. Maybe the babe was holding out for that! How are the rest of you?

HelloMama · 13/07/2004 23:38

I have this awful 'stitch' like pain just across the top of my tummy, feels like nasty stretching or tearing sensation (i fear thats what it actually is as baby gets bigger and bigger yet doesn't want to come out....). I've had it the last few days and its there kind of constantly for a few hours and then goes. What could this be? Any ideas for a first timer?

Canadianmom · 14/07/2004 00:32

MarmaladeSun, Am so longing to hear your amazing home-birth story that I hope you are in labour! Best of luck!

MarmaladeSun · 14/07/2004 00:55

Canadianmom, I'm still here, although feeling very uncomfortable so don't think it'll be long now. I SO hope that things go according to plan and I can have my home birth. I'll be gutted if anything happens to prevent that. Still, as long as the end result is good . If things progress through the night I will try my best to post and let you know ok? Take care.

HelloMama · 14/07/2004 00:57

MarmaladeSun - will have my fingers crossed for you! Hope everything goes well! Keep us posted! Good luck!

Quackers · 14/07/2004 09:08

Glad I was of help Marmalade! Yes I was at 2-3 cm and then when labour really happened it went very quick, so you should have a head start!
Hana, lovely to hear from you! Can't beleive you;re 17 weeks! I'm due a week on Tues! Will come over to pgcy after m/c thread sometime this week hopefully! Good luck!
C section does concern me but I just want to do the best thing. DD was very distressed last time so I wouldn;t have that worry of it happening again I suppose and I could plan for her care better while I'm inside, but I'll accept what will be will be I think! As long as all is ok in the end!
Having trouble with my PC actually, so if I don't post you know why! xx

best of luck to those still waiting ! Quacks - I will be thinking of you and popping in here to hear the news. I hope everything goes as smoothly as possible. (sooo excited !!)

bzhmum · 14/07/2004 10:39

Lupe - nothing to report
bought 2 boxes of RLT and RLT capsules yesterday, getting so bored now, and my partner can only be around for the week 19 - 26th before going back to france to work - so really want it to arrive on time!
bump seems to have 'lowered' somewhat, that's all......sigh.........
hope all is well with u

Lupe · 14/07/2004 11:18

pretty quiet here too bzhmum - despite previous comments re DH's psychic intuitions!!

My bump's been low for a few weeks now and babe has been 3/5 engaged for some time. I've got another antenatal today, so I'm keeping fingers crossed that she's still in a good position (not gone posterior again) - I'm pretty sure she hasn't.

I've taken up the RLT strategy as well.

To be quite honest, I'd quite like her to arrive on the due date, cos I'm still finishing a bit of work and want to put my feet up for at least a few days before the big event!

That's a shame about your partner - I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for you that you'll pop on the 19th!

Quackers, a friend of mine's baby went breech about 10 days before her EDD (and he was a whopper!) but he turned himself again before coming out - hopefully yours will do the same and is just doing a last bit of stretching!

Lupe · 14/07/2004 12:20

HelloMama - that sounds exactly like the pain I had in the middle of my pregnancy - especially the tearing bit (not so much the stitch). It was on my right side, just under my ribs at the top of my abdoment and enough to lay me up in bed a couple of times and really hurt if I got up awkardly. In fact it scared me so much once I went to see the out of hours doc at the hospital, who checked me out for any thing serious (liver, bladder problems). His diagnosis was that he didn't know what it was but it wasn't anything to worry about. It carried on for quite a while and I mentioned it to my midwife several times who said she knew other people who had had it and that I should try not to worry. Nevertheless, I did worry, just because it was really interfering with my life and I'm not used to unexplained severe pain!

However, they were all right and a couple of months ago or so it completely cleared up.

I have no idea what caused it but was worried at the time. If you're worried I would get it checked out with your doctor and/or midwife. Even though they said they could find nothing wrong with me, they did take it very seriously and didn't make me feel like I was being a worrier!

Best of luck

Lupe · 14/07/2004 12:21

PS Good luck MarmaladSun!

popsycal · 14/07/2004 12:35

Hi all!
Freddiecat has asked me to post for her.

At last, it has happened.
Yesterday morning, she had a little girl (very speedily by the sounds of it!). 7lbs 7oz
Both doing fine.
No name yet!

I will let her post her own announcment properly when she gets home!

MarmaladeSun · 14/07/2004 12:41

sigh Another day and still fat! Just spoken to DH on the phone and he cheerfully informed me that all his workmates are now running a sweepstake on baby's date/time of birth and weight!!! Charming. Apparently the favourite weight is around 10lb! Hmm...last time I speak to that lot, wishing that on me! One of them does have me down for 10pm tonight though, which sounds pretty good to me. I'm so incredibly tired all the time though; these last few days are really taking it out of me. And I can't seem to resist watching all the birth stories on Discovery health!

HelloMama · 14/07/2004 13:11

Thanks Lupe for your advice. I'm wondering whether it is related to indigestion as I only seem to get it in the evenings after a big meal - it has gone again this morning. Was secretly hoping baby was on its way, but no...! Never mind.

We're braving it down to Devon (from London) this afternoon for a wedding on Saturday. Please can everyone keep their fingers crossed that baby doesn't make an appearance. I'm all prepared in case it does, but would rather be here in our own surroundings for the big event!

carwillin · 14/07/2004 13:18

LOL MarmaladeSun, I'm also flicking between Birth Stories and Big Brother - maybe I should really get off the settee and do something constructive but all I want to do is laze about.

And to make it worse, a friend from ante-natal class give birth this morning and she wasn't due until Friday

karen01 · 14/07/2004 14:40

bzhmum- I was in the same pr4edicament as you last month hoping that babs would arrive before DD had to go back to Cyprus to work and luckly DS arrived 11 days before DH had to go back. Good luck .

Good luck to all off you hope to hear news on all of you soon.
