Hello all!! Hope you find me!!!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lupe · 10/07/2004 15:35

what's your due date HelloMama - I'm 23/24 July - sounds like we're about the same.

HelloMama · 10/07/2004 15:40

27 july lupe. I have a few midwife friends and one did a VE on me the other day to see if anything was happening (I can't stand the not-knowing!) and my cervix has started to efface now. She said that was kind of expected at my stage of pregnancy and doesn't necessarily mean anything except that I probably won't go overdue. I did have something the day after (on saturday) which may have been a show, but I'm not sure... sorry to be graphic but sort of blood stained discharge. Not sure if that was because of the VE or the start of something. I feel quite uncomfortable today. How are you doing? Any signs?

Lupe · 10/07/2004 15:49

Help - what's an effacing cervix? I though effacing was something to do with being shy!

All I know is that the head was 3/5 engaged at my last antenatal (got another one on Wednesday), that the little darling has decided she likes the posterior position (plus side - 'neat bump' 'innie belly button'; minus side - severe pummelling from all 8 limbs at once (that's what it feels like), prospect of painful and lengthy labour).

The odd 'twinge' but no show or real period type pains, not very conscious of my BHs either.

But I can't wait! I loved being pregnant right up until the last 6 weeks or so - now I'm bored of not being able to bend over, sleep properly or generally jump around. Not to mention the heartburn...

Oh, and my so-called maternity clothes don't fit anymore either . that's obviously why the models in the catalogues only have tiny 4/5 month bumps!

HelloMama · 10/07/2004 15:55

effecing cervix is when it starts to open and thin out. sometimes this doesn't happen until labour but normally happens over time in the last few weeks of pregnancy.

lucky you about the 3/5 engaged, mine is only 1/5 but 'not going anywhere' according to midwives! I have also really enjoyed this pregnancy but I am now so impatient to meet our baby. Lots of friends have said 'don't wish the pregnancy away, you'll be wanting the baby to go back inside as soon as its born...' but I guess this is natural at this stage - helps you forget about the fear of childbirth! I have been drinking my RLT and eating lots of fresh fruit and linseed to try and get things moving!

Lupe · 10/07/2004 16:30

you sound so well-informed, HelloMama! You are making me feel inadequate with all your tea drinking and linseed .

And I thought i was being a model pregnant person just 'cos I do my pelvic floor exercises!

Freddiecat · 10/07/2004 16:34

Argh 4 days overdue now and 8 days since I "went into labour". Have now had every sign going that I am going to be in labour imminently including a show. 2 midwives told me last week that they expected to see me on labour ward within hours and I am 3cm dilated - but still not in labour...

have enjoyed being pregnant up until this frustrating bit!

am not eating too much fresh fruit due to other consequences...

Lupe · 10/07/2004 16:37

poor you, Freddiecat!

Is this your first?

HelloMama · 10/07/2004 16:37

Lupe I'm a contraception and sexual health nurse in my other life so I do kind of have an advantage, but I found out about the RLT on mumsnet! Its my mum that got me on to eating linseed (looks like birdseed that you sprinkle on cereal or yoghurt or fruit and keeps you 'regular'!) and boy does it work! Basically I'm getting to the point where I'll try anything and I'm not even due for a few weeks yet... I keep thinking about all the 9Ib babies that tend to be born into our family. As for pelvic floor exercises and perineal massage.... I haven't been that good TBH!

MarmaladeSun · 10/07/2004 17:12

Poor you Freddiecat. I'm dreading going over my date (10/7) as from past experience every day feels like a month. I too have had all kinds of signs that it's about to happen, including waking up at 5am with regular pains, regular contractions, and a show on Saturday morning but here I am, still waiting and it's driving me insane!!! Now I'm hoping that it holds off til the weekend as it's my childrens' sports day on Thursday and school BBQ on Friday and I don't want to miss them if I can help it so you can guarantee something will happen this week! lol.

hermykne · 11/07/2004 00:07

hellomama
we have the same due date! but last wk gynie told me i wil probably have a c/section and at 38wks will evaluate the situation as i have a big baby and my 1st was 9lb3 with an emerg.c/s pelvic disproportion.....and this baby is now 8 1/2lbs. so he may take me in earlier. also have a really uncomfortable lag pain from my groin into my right leg, not a nerve thing feels deeper.
feeling exgtremtly zonked these days and lazy, the energy has been zapped from me by my dd.

Quackers · 11/07/2004 00:13

Gosh, lots going on here! Freddiecat, I really hope things move along soon!!!!! Keep us posted!
Must get some RLT!!!!! Kepp meaning to find a shop here that sells it. Top priority next time I'm in town!
Carwillin, sounds like some good warm up BH's. You'll be in labour when they get closer and stronger over the space of an hour. I have the same thing as last time. Loads of of good dtrong BH's aroung 5 mins apart and then they fade after 45 mins! Very frustrating and this went on for 3 weeks with my first!! Hey someone told me champagen is good for inducing. Don;t know if that's because you get a bit tipsy now just on one glass and somehow think you can manage a full session with DH/P and then in brings on labour. God I feel too heavy to have sex. I did with my first somehow, a few times at this stage, God knows how!!!

carwillin · 11/07/2004 11:37

Quakers - Don't tell me I've got another 3 weeks of this, I'm due next monday and just couldn't face going past my due date.

I'm drinking RLT like it's going out of fashion, onto the pineapple next and I really can't see the logistics of sex at this late stage (but never say never ).

Hope everyone else is doing well.

MarmaladeSun · 11/07/2004 12:26

How sad am I???? Come on, tell me...how many of you have ever got ridiculously excited about the fact that you have had a bout of unexpected diarrhoea? Hmm...I did last night for no apparent reason and I was over the moon! Another sure sign that babe is on her way I thought. But no. Not a thing. Is it just me or do all pregnant women develop an unhealthy fascination for all the bodily functions? snigger. Only 4 days to go til my due date; wonder if the mw will give me a 'sweep' today at my appointment? Oh the waiting is killing me!!!!!!!!!!!!

Freddiecat · 11/07/2004 13:26

MarmaladeSun I know exactly what you mean. I have had diarrhoa for 4 days (well nights actually) and was so pleased! But still nothing has happened. Now 5 days overdue and soooo restless. DS was 10 days late but I didn't have to be induced. 10 days would take me until Sunday. I now have no energy. DS is back in nursery full time and DP takes him at 8am and then last night they both got home at 7pm after having done the weekly shopping. But there is no way I can do anything! I won't even drive now as when I "did" go into labour last Sunday I was in terrible pain within 20 minutes of going for a nap!

littlerach · 11/07/2004 13:40

I have had a funny tummy too! And felt sick yesterday, probably due to choc eclair!!
Also had pain in my buttock all weekend - agony.

Looks like we're moving on Fri so need to wait until after that!!!

MarmaladeSun · 11/07/2004 13:48

Freddiecat. I have also run out of steam. I walk the kids to school and back twice a day (only a 10 minute walk either way) and make the beds and that's me for the day, absolutely exhausted. I start off with such good intentions but as soon as I get back from the school the tiredness hits me and all I want to do is sleep. Then I spend the rest of the day feeling guilty for sitting about doing nothing but watch daytime TV. I'm supposed to be studying but I just can't settle down to it; I thought it'd be an ideal time to study buit if I can't do it now God only knows how I'll manage when the baby arrives. I know how you feel being overdue; I went 11 days with DD and it was only the threat of being induced that started me off (my theory anyway). Hey ho.

SpringChicken · 11/07/2004 16:35

Hi Everyone,
Hope you are all doing OK.

Had midwife appt. this morning - have got hosital appointment for week on Thursday (15th July) and then they will give me a date to be induced.

Someone hurry up and have the first July baby

littlerach · 11/07/2004 17:01

WE AHVE EXCHANGED CONTRACTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE ARE MOVING ON FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have to keep this baby in now!

Bad news is crappy old BT cannot even connect the phone for 2 WEEKS. OMG they are so crap. So no internet for at least 2 wks, unless I can pop into DH's office and use his in the evenings!!!
It may well come to that!

MarmaladeSun · 11/07/2004 17:33

Hi Spring Chicken. I was wondering how you were. I had my midwife appointment this morning too, but unlike you there was NO talk about induction etc. I was kind of hoping she might suggest a 'sweep' but no. She thinks the baby might be slightly 'posterior'; something to do with how she heard the heartbeat. I really hope not as my DD was posterior presentation and it was a long labour. Have you had no signs yet? Littlerach...congrats on the move although OMG...what timing!! LOL. Hope it all goes ok for you, I know how stressful moving is. Hope everyone else is well.

serenequeen · 11/07/2004 20:21

fantastic, littlerach! good luck! we moved on friday.

littlerach · 11/07/2004 21:17

I guess you've been busy nesting then!!

madgirl · 11/07/2004 21:21

it's me, and i've done it!!!!!!!!!!!! we have a gorgeous new ds, 7lbs 8oz on Sunday July 4th at 6:10pm.
Labour was THREE HOURS, somewhat of an improvement on DS1's 23 hours. It's fab to be home with all my boys.

hermykne · 11/07/2004 23:45

mad girl congratulations, well done sounds like it was great for you, and before your due date!

MarmaladeSun · 11/07/2004 23:48

Mad Girl. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! How wonderful. Have you posted a birth announcement? We want to know all the details. Have you any names yet? Oh it's lovely...and it might spur us into action now too . Well done to you all.

Quackers · 11/07/2004 23:49

MG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Left you a message on your announcement thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Delighted for you, I really really am!!!! What have you called him????

Carwillin, hopefully you won;t have this for too long, don;t think I was the norm tbh. I'm getting them loads today, but just know I'll be here in 4 weeks still, or longer, saying the same things!
SC, hope you get going then before then, although I was induced and it was absolutley fine. 1 hour 40 min labour! Marmalade, hopefully they might do a sweep next app't?? Maybe ask for one?
