BobaFetaCheese · 07/04/2014 11:22

completely understand the freakout but this is just your car telling you it's a big pile of poo and you need a new one to carry your baby. Thanks

LondonJen · 07/04/2014 11:36

Welcome Omama and congratulations. Kjh has summed it up perfectly. Breaking those first few weeks down with plans and distractions helped me a lot. And sharing on here.

Fod I am pom pom waving, hope you're hard at it by now!!

Corp we haven't DTD since we found out I was pg. I just knew if it made me bleed (not that it would but you know, being paranoid as I've heard it can happen) I would be utterly panicked even though it wouldn't mean I was miscarying, just prob a sensitive cervix. We had scan last week so we were waiting for that hurdle too. Also I have been so tired and sicky I don't think I could muster the enthusiasm. I am kind of expecting this glowing 2nd tri to kick in and suddenly rediscover the urge!

Squiz!! My poor irrational friend! I absolutely promise you the two are not linked. I love boba's interpretation that your car is a big pile of poo! She's right, you'll need a new one for baby, that's all. I know it's stressful but it really is okay xx

Gwlondon · 07/04/2014 11:42

Hi. Can I join this thread please. I am 5 weeks ish

I doubt anyone remembers me as I've not been on this thread for weeks and weeks and I keep meaning to catch up and it suddenly occurs to me that I'm being induced tomorrow. Not entirely sure I'm ready, but I never am!

Go Fod! Hope it's not long now!

JBrd · 07/04/2014 12:02

Welcome Gwlondon Glad that you have found us! How are you feeling? You will get lots of handholding here, we have all been there!

SQUIZ!!! > Please re-read your post, and hopefully, you will see how funny it is! Calm down, everything is fine.

Had a rather -shall we say- uncomfortable chat with DH about our options and what to do with them last night...
Recap for the newbies - I have been given a high (1:17) risk for Down's Syndrome at the combined screening. Nuchal and scan all good, but bad blood results, my Papp-A couldn't be any lower if it wanted to. Now waiting for the Harmony test, before deciding if to have CVS or amniocentesis.
DH thinks that it would only be justified to have an invasive test, if we are prepared to act on the result, i.e. terminate if it's confirmed that it's Down's. I, however, would want to know in any case, so unless the Harmony comes back with a definite low risk, then I would want to go ahead, to get a better idea of what lies ahead of us... We've not even skimmed the question 'Would we be prepared to terminate', this is too difficult to contemplate right now, I can't get my head around thinking about this!
But I'm worried that it will be difficult to get him to see that I want to know as certain as possible (I can accept a good Harmony result, but nothing in the 'grey' area). I know there is a risk of mc, and it would be horrendous if it resulted in mc, but - another 6 months of having this on top of all the other worries?!? I'll be a basket case come EDD! Confused

kjh5 · 07/04/2014 12:02

Hello pig! I was just wondering how you were getting on! How exciting you get to meet your baby soon! So hopefully that is two new thread babies coming our way! Hope you are feeling excited xx

I had my 38wk appt this morning. Fabulous GP told me the bubba could arrive today Grin.... or in three weeks' time Angry - she also told me she was going to remind me how desperate I am for him to arrive when I am back in her surgery in a few weeks' time in tears because the baby won't stop crying and I haven't slept in 10 days! She has a point must stop being such an impatient sod. Have booked in reflexology, pedicure, one lunch and two coffee dates so far this week to distract myself... If this baby doesn't arrive soon I am going to (a) go bankrupt and (b) run out of friends willing to entertain me while I wait for this baby to arrive!

Welcome Gwlondon - congrats on your pregnancy! Here's hoping for a smooth ride for you xx

Squiz hoping you aren't languishing on the side of the road and have managed to sort out your car. I think Boba is bang on the money - you need a new one to carry your bubba in ;)

kjh5 · 07/04/2014 12:10

Jbrd I think saggy wrote some helpful advice on here a while back about the risks of the invasive test (if memory serves she had CVS). I know I discussed options with my MW back in the first tri and she said that the chances of MC'ing are so minuscule they really don't worry about it. Maybe if your DH could chat to your MW for reassurance he will change his mind if you want to go down that route? Keeping all my fingers and toes crossed it doesn't come to that. Hoping for a really positive Harmony result for you xxx

squizita · 07/04/2014 12:21

Corpore it really can't hurt the baby, daft MW. But of course no need to EVER do the deed if you're not in the mood, we're not Victorian wives haha! I don't DTD proper when pregnant because it makes me bleed = trip to A&E, for NOTHING 'tis just the clexane and a sensitive cervix.

Fod In the words of Salt n Pepa "PUSH IT" :) Pig how exciting! Neeaaarly there. Bet you can't sleep tonight!

KJ London Jbird and Boba thanks for the fishslaps. :) It was just such a spooky coincidence. My dad's mate Ali is on call to fix it come to think of it getting my dad's mate dodgy Ali from up the road to fix my car cash in hand, 2nd hand parts maaaay be why the tyres and parts wear out so quickly Hmm LOL!

Jbird It's a very tough call, don't think even fathers would understand as it's you physically carrying the child with any risks associated so you want to know whatever happens. I understand that the risky tests 'average' 1% MC risk so a more experienced surgeon might have an even better set of odds, perhaps investigate getting a big name privately?

Hi GW :)

KJ Hope bubs arrives soon and doesn't keep you up 24/7! Grin May it be a legendary sleepy baby and never trouble your GP for more than the usual jabs!

Hi JBrd, kjh5 and squizita.

I feel fine thanks JBrd! It is still very early so fingers crossed this one sticks.

kitkat321 · 07/04/2014 14:12

Welcome gwlondon - we share the same EDD :)

Hope you have a quiet, uneventful pregnancy :)

LondonJen · 07/04/2014 14:48

HiaGw, are you in London like me by anychance?! Wishing you a very sticky bean and a boring and uneventful pregnancy.

I will update the stats as after all the scrolling the other day I am keen not to loose the list again!

Hi pig glad to hear the time has gone quickly for you. Hope your induction (and immediate quick and easy labour) goes smoothly.

Jbrd, you pelting fishfingers at squiz is hilarious!! I think Squiz has taken her fish battering rather well! On more serious note, I understand completely about you feeling you would want to have cv/amnio in order to just get a more definitive answer. I lean towards that myself when I think about it. If I could know there was nothing to worry about for 6 months and save myself the angst, I would want that. I know there is the mc risk to consider, so it's not that simple. I hope that's not unhelpful just basically trying to say I understand how you feel about it.

Love your plans kjh! I would be impatient and bankrupt too! Grin

Glad you're feeling more relaxed Squiz
