I have 39 days left (AND COUNTING) until my planned cs on 11th april

I am fat, fed up, knackered, aching, heartburn-ridden and absolutely DESPERATE for the baby to be out. this will be dc3 and deffo my LAST

anyone else got a similar amount of time left and want a thread where we can share the joys of the final stretch of pregnancy

currently todays bugbear is my needing a wee constantly, which will no doubt keep me up all night again

I've been sent home for the day, thankfully. Need to rest and the hospital is no place for that! Contractions have slowed right down so in going to try to sleep a bit so I'm a bit better prepared for the birth. Only slept 2 hours last night.
Hoping I won't need an induction.

Come on baby! Get moving!

bopoityboo3 · 05/04/2014 15:35

congratulations last. good luck inglori0us hope it all goes well for you today and you get your baby soon..

I'm 40 weeks today yey! Had been told at my 38 wk appointment that I could have a sweep today if wanted. Went along to the appointment and turns out the last midwife I saw got things muddled and as this is my second baby they won't give me a sweep until I'm 41 wks [annoyed] this has left me irrationally upset as I thought we might get things going today as I'm feeling so rubbish, have had a rather upset stomach this morning, and really don't want to go way over again and be induced. I just want my baby! Okay whinge over.

HelenHen · 05/04/2014 22:58

Ahh so exciting! Congrats last Smile and really looking forward to your news inglori0us!

cheekyfunkymonkey · 05/04/2014 23:09

Ooh good luck inglorious and congratulations last. Hopefully there will be a lot more baby news this weekend. 4 weeks to go here. Bubs is super active tonight. Sleeping well either. Having to get up and walk around at all hours. It's almost like I'm in training for something.....

Inglori0us · 06/04/2014 16:38

Baby Sam is finally here after lots of drams. He's a big boy, 9lb 8oz. He's in SCBU but doing really well.

I've been up since Friday morning so need a huge rest. More info to follow when I'm no longer hallucinating!

Misty9 · 06/04/2014 17:07

Congratulations! Sending you both huge recovery vibes xx

LastOneDancing · 07/04/2014 07:52

Fabulous news Inglorious! Welcome Sam!

Can't wait to hear about it when you are well & ready x

curlyLJ · 07/04/2014 13:55

Congrats Inglori0us & last. Hope you're both doing OK...

Glad Sam waited for your DH to get back! I was on tenterhooks all last week with DH being away, but thankfully he is back now so 'operation evict baby' is now underway!

Blessed hope the breastfeeding is settling down for you.

Bopoity what a pain - you would have thought that as you were there, they would have just done the sweep anyway, wouldn't you. This whole sticking to procedure malarkey really is a bit daft sometimes.

I have another consultant appointment on Weds, where I expect i will have another conversation about being induced before my EDD. My midwife was right behind me though when i saw her Friday and she told me to stick to my guns and not agree to anything I don't want, so that's what I plan to do.

Inglori0us · 07/04/2014 15:18

Righto. Feeling a bit more human again now!
I laboured from Saturday 4am til Sunday at 1pm and still only 3cm dilated and baby still -3cm too high. He was showing no sign of coming and was getting tired. As was I.

Had an emergency section with amazing staff and baby Sam was out!
First of all the paediatrician was satisfied he was ok but after a few mins my dh noticed a rattling sensation on his back and then his breathing became laboured. They let me briefly hold him then took Sam to SCBU and tried to clear the fluid, mucus and small amount of blood from his lungs.

I knew little of this as my blood pressure dropped dangerously low as they were stitching me up and I lost consciousness a few times and vomited. My anaesthesiologist was brilliant and very reassuring and proactive and I think he maybe saved me having to be medically resuscitated. I look forward to reading the report when I get my discharge notes!

I was stabilised and soon felt a bit better.
Sam had chest x ray and has been diagnosed with pneumothorax which is when air is trapped in the chest cavity. This prevents the lungs working properly. The Dr has said the body may reabsorb this on its own or they'll have to carry out a procedure to do it. Time will tell. He's looking good though, very pink and chubby and twice the size of the other babies in the intensive care bay of SCBU. He's on 25% oxygen still so needs to stay in an incubator for now but I did a quick feed earlier and he latched straight away. I'll go back later and do it again but he won't have too many feeds for now as it'll tire him out and they don't want him to use too much energy digesting.

I'm surprisingly calm about it as the staff have really put my mind at rest. I've got a huge cubicle in a quiet room of 3 beds (and a window that opens, which is like winning the hospital bed lottery!).
The cs pain is much improved already but I tire quickly and the pain from trapped wind is awful. From my right hip to my right shoulder. Weird. I'm making the most of the morphine!
Hope everyone else is doing well.

LastOneDancing · 09/04/2014 07:02

Come on babies! We are due another birth story! Who's due next - Curly, Bop?

BabyLast is now Thomas Felix. I was the one who caved, but instead got to chose his middle name - which had been firmly veto'd as a first!

Hope everyone is well & not to uncomfortable.

Misty9 · 09/04/2014 07:15

I'm due today, but no signs :(

Glad you're both ok now inglorious. Sounds like a tiring and stressful experience.

Thomas is a lovely name lastone :)

Come on baby!

CaipirinhasAllRound · 09/04/2014 08:25

I'm due a week today but getting impatient and uncomfortable now. Nowhere hurts luckily, I just feel a lot less mobile

Fingers crossed your baby arrives soon Misty

Beautifulboy1 · 09/04/2014 13:42

Went to midwife yesterday, am 36 weeks tomorrow, however DS1 came at 36 plus 6, midwife says DS2 head is 60% in my cervix and ready to go so could be any day from now!

Good luck to all waiting and congratulations to the new mummies out there :-)

Update us on all birthing stories xx

MarthasHarbour · 09/04/2014 15:01

Ooo may i join? Smile

36+3 today. I am booked in for a ELCS on 28th. But have been having BH and false labour contractions for weeks now which is making me v Angry as i just want to get things going!

I am seeing my consultant tomorrow to discuss induction instead of ELCS. I have GD so it will certainly be either on 28th or (hopefully) earlier. I will be 39+1 on that day.

Its not so much that i am getting impatient to have my baby, i am just fed up of not being able to move, constantly peeing, false contractions etc etc etc

Congrats on all the recent births Flowers

HelenHen · 09/04/2014 15:13

Wow inglori0us, sounds pretty terrifying but glad you're both on an dc2 good luck with the healing!

HelenHen · 09/04/2014 15:16

Lol last, I was so sure dc was gonna be girl that I said dh could have Boys name if I picked both middle names (we'd already agreed on girls name). So now both my kids have Irish middle names and I'm really pleased with that. Dh doesn't Like either middle name... Oh well! Grin

bopoityboo3 · 09/04/2014 17:55

Oh inglori0us congratulations Thanks

Still waiting here lots of BH's that keep making me look like I have a football jammed up my top but no sign of them doing anything.

curly it was so annoying and had me in a right grump all weekend. Especial as I'm pretty sure that if I'd seen my normal community midwife, rather than the one on duty at the hospital, that she would have given me a sweep anyway.

Really hoping this baby turns up before the weekend as my mum is up this week to be on hand to help with DD as I'm so tired and bored of spending time by myself during the day whilst DD is at school and DH is at work. Totally with you Martha with being fed up about the lack of movement and needing to pee all the sodding time etc.

MarthasHarbour · 09/04/2014 21:22

Just read the entire thread to get me in the mood. Glad everyone is/has felt the same way i am feeling now - i feel like i have found a comfy chair and happy place Smile

Still in two minds what to go for when i speak to the consultant tomorrow. But i really think i should go for induction and give it a go. This is my last chance at childbirth (i am 41yo so not planning any more).

Anyway - i will let you know how i get on.

LastOneDancing · 10/04/2014 05:42

Oooh tough choice Martha (& welcome!) is this your 1st baby?

I didnt appreciate it at the time but Im really glad i got to experience labour, even if it ended in a section! I'm also struggling with the after effects of the op a week on, despite healing well - I just want to be able to move normally!

I think if I was going for it again, I'd try for a VBAC. I think.

MarthasHarbour · 10/04/2014 15:14

Well i am sticking with my ELCS on 28th. Had a long chat with the consultant who explained that the chances of a successful VBAC via induction were much lower than if i went into natural labour. He would prefer me to either go into spontaneous labour or have the ELCS. They wouldnt do the pessary as i have had a previous CS, they would do the balloon method (sticking a balloon up my fanjo for 12-16 hours) then after that they would break my waters (no fecking way - not after the last time) then wait and see - it would be at least 24 hours. And then with the likelihood of an emergency section!

Obviously every induction is different and the above method is because of my previous section and Gestational Diabetes and early labour etc. My consultant was lovely and explained it all really clearly. I made my mind up halfway through the chat TBH.

I came out feeling pretty flat however i have had a lovely lunch at John Lewis which has given me a chance to give myself a shake and be grateful that i am being well looked after Smile

So - i have 2 weeks and 3 days of freedom! Grin

last i have one DS age 4 and have had a MC and a stillbirth at 21 weeks. So second child but fourth and-last pregnancy Smile

LastOneDancing · 11/04/2014 04:20

Any rumblings Misty?

Well Martha it's good that you've made a decision you're confident in and now you can get prepared and really enjoy your time until the madness descends!

I'm managing the night feeds & changes solo now, but DH is still moaning about being tired from interrupted sleep despite getting a good 7-8h.... Grrrrrr

Come on babies! I'm ready for another birth story!
