medusa and guff congratulations on the birth of your baby boys! I hope you're all well. medusa I think it's amazing you made it to 28 weeks given the circumstances, you did so well for your little boy - he's being looked after and he's going to thrive, worry not!

Congratulations to those who had good scans recently and welcome to all the newbies.

emki I had GBS - I found out at 35 weeks after a UTI and panicked. Luckily, saggy (our rock) gave me lots of advice and support. As you already know, you need to take antibiotics during labour, I just had one lot because labour was only 4 hours from start to finish. Most probably, you and your baby will have to spend 24 hrs in hospital because they will want to monitor the little one. The only thing I found a bit confusing was where I could give birth. The midwife I saw during the pregnancy seemed to think I couldn't go to the midwife-led unit (and I got quite upset over that) but as it turned out she was wrong. I only found out when I called the hospital when labour started and I did go to the midwife-led unit, I used the pool for pain relief but also ended up having a waterbirth which is what I had wanted (but didn't expect because of this confusion with the midwife). Anyway, you may want to check with your hospital in advance.

Last but not least, GO SAGGY!!! Good luck, my dear - good luck to you and ryvita, we're looking forward to meeting you both in the postgraduate thread!

pixie you're next :-) By the way, your DD has excellent taste (I love bagpuss!)

jmf294 · 06/03/2014 14:06

Good luck Saggy!
Hope all goes well and they look after you both well.
Look forward to hearing the news of her arrival x

BobaFetaCheese · 06/03/2014 15:43

Brew for saggy, hope it's all going well. How typical that today's our first hot day this year, hope it's not too uncomfortable for you.

pgchimp · 06/03/2014 18:08

hope all going well saggy
just wanted to post a reply to corpore, your nervousness is absolutely normal and getting to that milestone is difficult BUT you have seen the sac and they all sound like solid first trimester symptoms to me, so try to stay positive. Thanks

fod27 · 06/03/2014 18:16

Ooooo come on saggy the suspense is killing me!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 06/03/2014 18:28

I'm still here. bouncing on a gym ball. had a few contractions but nothing major or regular. Sad
Just scared the beejesus out of myself, I went to the loo and didn't realise that the pessary has about a foot of ribbon attached! Confused Grin

MrsGiraffe12 · 06/03/2014 18:36

Good luck saggy. I've been checking all day to see if Ryvita has arrived yet :-) x

Pixielady83 · 06/03/2014 18:41

Grin is time dragging or have you got lots of things to do? have they got you doing laps of the hospital? more importantly are they feeding you properly!

TotalShock · 06/03/2014 18:51

Checking in to see how you're doing saggy, bet you can't wait to meet ryvita! Good luck x

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 06/03/2014 18:52

Pixie how well do you know me??! Grin the food is bloody awful! when the dinner cart came round DD it was jacket potato or jacket potato! dry cheese or tuna and a yoghurt! not enough to keep a big fat bird sparrow alive! Sad dp bought dd a chocolate bar earlier to take home. It might not make it! Wink

OP posts:
squizita · 06/03/2014 18:56

saggy Eat the chocolate. Your DD's getting a l'il sis, way more exciting than chocolate!

fod27 · 06/03/2014 19:05

Oooo send DH out for a KFC xxx

GardenWorm · 06/03/2014 19:30

I hope the pessary kicks everything off for you properly Saggy, are they giving it 24hrs and then trying to burst your waters if there's no progression?? I only ask because that's what happened with me and I have to say hands down it was the most frickin hilarious experience of my life! Grin, it almost makes up for the long drawn out process. I really had no idea there was so much water! Took me by surprise and made us both laugh...and subsequently 'gush' every time I laughed. I swear there was gallons of the stuff!
Send DP out for some food, you need to keep your strength up X

Pixielady83 · 06/03/2014 20:09

yes get DH out to nearest takeaway and wolf the chocolate- you need the energy! Grin I've already told DH that if we end up hanging around for ages being induced tomorrow he will be sent out for macdonalds!

Pixielady83 · 06/03/2014 20:15

garden what happened after your waters broke did things get going quickly? that's what they're proposing to do with me tomorrow if cervix is favourable and bit nervous about how quick and hard contractions might come Confused

allisgood1 · 06/03/2014 20:52

Pixie, contractions with me have always gotten serious when the waters have gone. I made them give me an epidural before they broke my waters with DD2.

fedupofrainydays · 06/03/2014 21:20

I was fully dilated before my waters went so think my worse contractions were before then!!

Hmmmmm Macdonalds!

So we are really close to quite a few thread babies now! saggy I'm off to sleep now but checking in the morning to see if Ryvita has arrived!

Pixielady83 · 06/03/2014 21:33

That's what I've heard fedup and allisgood think I'm going to see how it goes, try some meptid first but keep epidural in mind.

fod27 · 06/03/2014 21:35

pixie girl after my own heart lol

GardenWorm · 06/03/2014 21:39

Pixie I'm obviously a bit odd! Had the pessary Friday at midnight (helpful timing!) which did nothing. Then they did an examination Sunday morning with a view to breaking waters if possible, which they did but not much happened then either! Mild contractions and after 3/4 hrs there wasn't much progress so I had the hormone drip which kicked them off. Had the drip about 1:30 pm and he was born 6:30, I did just gas and air but they were very up for me having other pain relief and kept checking I didn't want anything else. I think I could have got him out a bit quicker but with my first baby I think I started pushing too early so I probably held off pushing this time. Did you get your results for bloods? I only found out I had the liver thing when I was a week overdue and mentioned I had woken up with itchy legs two nights in a row, I'd genuinely always thought you had to be itching permanently and all over but no! Don't panic - I can honestly say my induction birth was much nicer than my first X
