Pixie and Total your bubbas are almost here! At least the end is in sight, and you both have definite end dates! I'm wondering how the hell I'm going to cope with two more weeks of work, never mind the 9 weeks of pregnancy I have left! I'm so uncomfortable and there is literally no space left in my stomach - I'm terrified by how much bigger I'm going to get still can't stop eating cake and chocolate though...

Aoife both DM and MiL plus various aunts are very bemused by this 'don't have a hot bath' rule as they all lived in them throughout their pregnancies and keep recommending that is what I do to alleviate various aches and pains... they all produced lots of healthy babies, so I think its another one of those bits of preggo advice to take with a pinch of salt.

Saggy that is very interesting about the Colostrum... any idea when it is supposed to come in? I know it varies from person to person but I'm interested in what sort of thing to expect surrounding that

fod27 · 15/02/2014 12:43

Colostrum comes in prior to giving birth if I remember rightly / before the fore milk

fod27 · 15/02/2014 12:47

ladies ouch!!!!! I've been in pain all night, lower back and abdominal - also had shooting pains in my bottom :( think it may be due to constipation but even when I try to 'go' nothing I just have this burning vaginal sensation also lots of discharge this mornin too - any ideas?

Pixielady83 · 15/02/2014 13:25

fod that doesn't sound good - worth a trip to the doctors? It doesn't feel like contraction pain does it?? Baby could be pressing down on your bottom but doesn't explain your discharge etc. Think it's worth going to get checked out.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 15/02/2014 13:58

fod that sounds interesting. Keep an eye out for regularity!
KJH colostrum can come in quite early for some. I'm sure I read 20+ weeks in some cases. You need to have a good massage in a warm bath and try and milk youself and see what comes out! Wink
Mooo Grin

fedupofrainydays · 15/02/2014 14:07

My milk leaked in the bath before birth... Pretty gross! I was like.. Ooh why has my water gone cloudy!

Feel pregnant today. Sick, tired and emotional and irritable at same time. All good though so bring it on. But I also felt bad with first mc so not betting anything on this being a good one.

fod sounds like baby is shifting around and getting lower. Or even punching around down there. Pain isn't unusual as they move about. But if worried I would see midwife (doctor would prob be useless!)

kjh5 · 15/02/2014 14:33

Fod that is very similar to what I had when I went to get checked up at the hospital. Sounds like it could be a mixture of constipation and BH? Everything was absolutely fine with me - def give your midwives a call if worried though. Mine were happy for me to come in so they could check me out.

Saggy I just read your advice out to DH (who is industrially building up Ikea furniture in the living room :) )The look on his face was pure horror Grin he is now totally freaked!

I feel I ought to write an ode to Ikea - DH spent last night picking up a whole bunch of stuff that I decided we simply must have to make our flat habitable for the baby (nesting syndrome in OVERDRIVE), we now have lovely new shelves and draws to go with our awesome new flooring (which I am sure a newborn will appreciate). Ratty old carpets have been thrown out and all our junk unwanted books, linen and kitchenware is ready to be carted off to the charity shop. I am one happy pregnant woman - cluck cluck!!

Pixielady83 · 15/02/2014 15:25

kjh all that progress that sounds fantastic!

I kind of get your DH's horror re:expressing (although he's probably going to see a lot worse!). Tmi but just tried some expressing in the shower, 2 drops and it blooming hurt. Makes me feel nauseous as well - I forgot breastfeeding used to do that to me! Am I weird or is that a thing??!

Emki · 15/02/2014 21:02

mummy I remember you! congratulations! We're the same! Well I'm a week behind you - 26 weeks today - so happy to see you here! Well done.

I've done my usual 'not been on the thread for a week and lost track of all' - so had a quick scan and want to say congrats to those who had successful scans this week.

Welcome to newbies too and huge hand holding to JBRD and all those pre-12 wk scan

As i'm on half term this week will try to keep up - hope none of you have had your homes effected by the weather xx

fod27 · 15/02/2014 22:25

Thanks ladies - I've tried to go to the toilet and produced very little ;( then decided in all my wisdom as the pain subsided to cook up some lobby and dumplings for freezing (so that DC and DH eat properly once LO has arrived) I was sat at the breakfast bar peeling and chopping veg (due to SPD not lazyness ;)) and I started to have really strong contraction like pains in my back, I actually thought bugger! I should time these! Then wouldn't you guess??? Nothing!

Baby is moving and I feel a little better but I think the suggestion of constipation and BH could be bang on the money. Either way I've decided to was more of LOs clothes and popped her bedding in too - just in case of course

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 16/02/2014 04:37

Gah Fod! still, you never know! It's not long now anyway is it?

fedupofrainydays · 16/02/2014 07:15

Ok.. Maybe tmi here but last night I had an orgasm in my sleep. Norm I would be like 'cool' as no effort from anyone! But the contractions caused me pain and I got really scared. Did anyone else have this (either from normal sex or dreams!)? I have heard it can cause a bit of pain later on in pregnancy but am only just coming up to 6 weeks. It still feels a bit tender down there now...
Who would have thought orgasms would be a bad thing....?!

Aoifebelle · 16/02/2014 08:19

fedup I've had this. Last time at about six weeks had one of those vaginal orgasms when I am half asleep. I normally get them the week before my period. About ten minutes later the pain started, like the worst period pain ever. I ended up on the bathroom floor hanging onto the bog dry retching. Lasted about 30 mins, I was completely drenched in sweat by the end of it. I went to the docs and got referred to the epau, but scan was too early to show anything,so had the hcg 24 hour test which was fine. Then I came on here and it turns out it is fairly common. Thank fuck for places like this, I really can't imagine asking that question of my mother, or indeed many others in rl. I have to say the whole experience has put me off hanky panky. That pain was not funny.

fedupofrainydays · 16/02/2014 08:56

Wow, mine was like bad period pain but not as bad as yours. That sounds very scary! Thanks though aoife. How come they couldn't see anything at six weeks scan though? I'm a bit scared as have mine on Tuesday....and I will be six weeks then. More a location one than anything though.

Exactly... I can't even imagine asking a doctor about it!

Aoifebelle · 16/02/2014 09:07

Sorry, should have been clearer. They saw a sac but couldn't say if there was an embryo which from what i can tell is pretty normal for scanning that early. It properly freaked me out as the gp said they would deffo be able to see a heart beat. She was talking arse btw. Just before getting scanned you might want to ask exactly what you will and will not be able to tell from an early scan. I know I would have found that info useful.

fedupofrainydays · 16/02/2014 09:34

Yeah, i guess that's all I'm expecting. My last preg was suspected ectopic hence why they want to check out where this preg is. Just expecting to see a sac (if there is one!)

squizita · 16/02/2014 10:35

Waves to all!

I've had rudey dreams which woke me up, thankfully not pain. Understand it's a common thing.

JBrd · 16/02/2014 11:27

Hello all!

fedup 6 weeks is just borderline, I think it's the earliest where they could see something, but it doesn't necessarily mean they will. So just that you don't get all panicked when they can't find a heartbeat. Hopefully, they will explain it all, but yes, do as beforehand! I wish I had done that when I had an early scan for the first time.

Well, things are not looking too good for me. After seemingly settling down during Friday, the brown discharge has been increasing again since yesterday. And now it's really dark brown, no doubt about it. And this morning I woke up with a backache, too.
DH wants me to call the EPU, but I know that they won't do anything just yet. However, I'm wondering if they might book me in for a scan the week after next, if I ask them - not sure if they would do that, or if it has to come from the mw.
I'm so scared at the moment, feeling paralysed.

kjh5 · 16/02/2014 12:06

JBrd where do you live? If your EPU is self referral then go in tomorrow morning and they should scan you. With bleeding and the amount of anxiety/stress this is causing it would be truly awful of them to refuse to scan you. If you live near London at all St Georges in Tooting works on a first come first served basis between 9am and 11am (if you get there by 8.30 you are usually seen within 30/45min). I can't remember how far along you are? But you should still be able to get some answers as to what is happening. I know its really hard to do but try and not let the fear take over. Lots of us have had the same symptoms and are still fine. Half the terror is just not knowing what is going on and that awful feeling you are going to have to go through another MC. It's an emotional rollercoaster. Hope your DH is helping out with support. Sending hugs xx

Fedup that sounds normal to me, I think a lot of people experience it. Along with the SPD it is one of the reasons DH and I haven't DTD at all since the 2nd trimester - it is just way too uncomfortable/painful. Poor bloke ;)

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 16/02/2014 12:08

Jbrd if you get no joy from EPAU, what about seeing a friendly gp and begging for a couple of bHCG tests to check your hormone levels? There's a lovely gp at my practice who would do it if i asked.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 16/02/2014 12:13

Fedup and any other newbies, don t worry about just seeing a sac at 6 weeks. Dates can be really variable in the very early days. Remember you could ovulate a few days late, you could implant later than you think. You could easily be a week out going by conception dates. Its why EPAU s are often reluctant to scan that early. People end up scared and worried. The only time 6 weeks can really confirm anything is when looking for a pg in the right place after a previous ectopic.
Smile

Aoifebelle · 16/02/2014 12:26

JBrd what a worry, but it is still dark brown - yes? I thought the mantra was brown & intermittent = maybe OK, red & persistent = maybe not OK.

I had a freak out at about 6 weeks last time after some major cramping and my GP referred me straight to the EPAU. That scan wasn't definitive (caused me more worry TBH as I wasn't prepared for the lack of clarity on the result), but the 24hr HCG test I found really reassuring, and one day waiting was alot easier than two weeks. I was lucky my GP offered it, maybe you can request the test (and not leave til they give it you).

I am keeping everything crossed for you JBrd. I was so pleased when I came back on here and found you here as well. Please let yourself be looked after, and get as pushy as you need to get with your GP/EPAU so you get the answers you need as quickly as possible.

xx

Alb1 · 16/02/2014 13:40

I have typed out my reply several times over the last 24 hours but mumsnet is being mean n won't let me post, again!

JBrd again keeping my fingers crossed for u, hopefully ur gp or epu will be able to do something to put ur mind at rest :-/

Pixielady83 · 16/02/2014 17:42

jbrd I'm so sorry you feel things aren't looking good. I hope you can get seen somewhere tomorrow to get some clarification on what's happening xx

bakingtins · 16/02/2014 18:47

jbrd sorry to hear you are worried. Everything crossed for you.
