Open to all elderberry grads and anyone who fits the berry criteria: over 30, pregnant with #1 after trying for a loooong time, and nervous as hell. Come on in for handholding and nub theory!

Kat, I'm 28w today and I thought I'd been in the 3rd tri for a week already. Why? Because my app told me. Therefore it must be true. Who told you 29?

My app says it's 26+6.... Hmm

merk, waiting for appointment news.....

CatsCantFlyFast · 24/01/2014 14:18

I'm back, nothing exciting... Consultant was a bit of a dick (he has recently been in the news). At one point he was suggesting it was psychological. Barely listened to me, finally referred me for another heart test. Suspect baby will arrive before anyone does anything so just got to hope its not really serious Confused

merk that consultant DOES sound like a dick. Fingers crossed baby comes or they manage to really sort something out.

I guess the third is a bit vague as there's no clear 'end' - obviously 40 weeks is term, but so is 38 and it could be as long as 42… technically I guess it should be 26 plus .7 of a week…

Urgh flashbacks to first tri morning sickness hell... on the sofa with a sick bowl feeling horrifically nauseous

Foodylicious · 24/01/2014 17:34

Oh No Merk! thats rubbish!!! Hope its just a one off1
good news about your scan though Grin

didn't take my anti sick tablet last night for 1st time in a week and thought I was doing ok, just felt a bit sick a few times today. Now cannot face the thought of food. Crap.

CLENCH

puppy that has been happening to me for weeks Sad

CatsCantFlyFast · 24/01/2014 17:41

Foody you have my sympathy with the sickness
Forgot to say that I ended up with a quick visit to the labour ward today while they were doing some tests for the consultant. It's a bit grim and old looking, and v scary. Not sure I want to go back... Grin

Tallyra · 24/01/2014 18:38

Oh no foody! Keep up the meds!!! It makes such a difference.
Merk, I'm having similar problems, if I overdo things I get sick again. Took most of Monday off work because I felt so sick looking at a computer screen. I have started taking my meds again, just once a day to try to combat it.

BlindKitty · 24/01/2014 19:34

thunder yeh had to 'slip' that word in. It's just so bad it's good haha! I've got to have a gtt in a few weeks. Please god don't let me fail it! I can't be a dietitian with diabetes!!

puppy I've been really trying with the pfs recently and (touch wood) I havent seemed to have that little bit of wee after my main urination lately

merk yep your consultant does sound like a dick. What was he in the news for?

Forgot to say I tried pregnancy yoga yesterday...and almost died of boredom!!! All we seemed to do was breath! Wasn't taxing in the slightest. Think I'll go back to normal yoga on Sunday.

CatsCantFlyFast · 24/01/2014 19:53

Blind how come you have to have a gtt? I'm confused why some people are getting tested and some aren't
He was in the news for his work with people after multiple miscarriages

CharmingCats · 24/01/2014 19:56

Is it weird that the clenching makes me feel sick? Well, not sick, but odd.
Scan was good, all measurements normal etc. due date now 5th august. It was floating around, waving and thumb sucking. So funny.
Going to try yoga on Wednesday. Was hoping that'd help with the clenching.....

CharmingCats · 24/01/2014 19:58

I'm having a gtt due to family history of diabetes and pcos.
Sorry the labour ward wasn't too nice. But, I have heard good things about it, promise.

BlindKitty · 24/01/2014 20:22

merk it's because of my multicystic ovaries. Still not sure why though as its different to pcos when insulin sensitivity could be an issue.
So consultant wasn't anything dodgy then? One of my hero consultants was on the news a few weeks ago for signing his name on livers before transplanting them. Such a shame as he's bound to get struck off and he's one of the most amazing surgeons I know.

BlearyeyedLol · 24/01/2014 23:10

Hello ladies just marking place and I've lost thread and I like to keep an a eye on you lot on the final countdown for more bang berries GrinGrin

Boomgoestheweasel · 25/01/2014 10:10

OOOOH final countdown! A few more weeks and the arrivals will actually start, that's unbelievable!

Merk indications for GTT are basically ethnicity, raised BMI, polycystic ovaries, strong family history of diabetes, or previous supersize baby. I had mine because of pcos, no idea why you'd have one for multicystic kitty. Did your midwife get confused?

Merk your consultant sounds like an arrogant twerp. I presume you've had investigations for PE? Sorry, I've been in and out of the thread and just can't remember, sure you're low risk but they should have checked..

I'm ashamed to admit to being a midwife and not actually knowing when 3rd trimester starts...we don't really go on trimesters! I'm counting mine from tomorrow when I hit the big 28 Grin only 6 more weeks at work!

Foody how are you feeling? Keep going with those meds!

Nothing exciting going on here. Work, work and more work, although day off today so going to Whitby for a nice beach walk with the dogs and fish and chips Anyone doing anything nice?

OP posts:
BlindKitty · 25/01/2014 11:02

boom since nobody seems to know what multicystic is (they generally think I mean polycystic) that absolutely wouldn't surprise me!

Whitby sounds lovely! Afraid I'm just doing lots of housework. Very bored as Dh went out clubbing last night (last weekend if freedom I think) and is out again tonight. Luckily I have a lovely friend coming over to cook me tea!

PoppySeedBun · 25/01/2014 16:46

Hello ladies,

I'm having GTT next week too (week 28) because of PCOS diagnosis. And now I'm craving fish and chips, which is inconvenient because the apocalypse seems to have just arrived - pouring rain, thunder and lightning Sad

Finally signed up at DH's gym this morning and went for a swim - was very slow, but the weightlessness was lovely. Makes it all the harder getting out of the pool though Shock

When are people stopping work? I've booked to start week 37 - end of March - and hoping to work a few days from home through Feb and March. Seem to be rather big already though Hmm

Foodylicious · 25/01/2014 18:21

I am optimistically just hoping to work as long as possible puppy but have no idea how big/tired/rubbish in the back I will get.
What week is it you have to let work know your intentions by? is it 15 weeks before due date?
Hope you braved the storm and got your fish and chips!
You have earned them after your swim Grin
got M&S lasagne in the oven, mmm

Tallyra · 25/01/2014 18:38

Yes, it's 15w before the end. I have decided to stop on march 22nd, at 36w. I just had a revelation at Christmas time that I was getting so tired all the time that I just couldn't see myself able to carry on much longer. I could have gone til the end of term on April 4th and only had 2 weeks left after that but I decided not to.

Boomgoestheweasel · 25/01/2014 19:34

Back from Whitby, avoided Dracula and most of the rain. Dogs had a blast on the beach, lost three tennis balls and a kong but they had fun!

Poppy swimming sounds lovely. I'm going to join the local leisure centre for £18 a month unlimited swimming once I go on mat leave and just go every day for a bob around I think! Weightlessness...now there's a gorgeous thought Grin

I'm stopping work at 34 weeks. Everyone I work with seems to think I'm mad going even that far with twins but so far I've been so lucky with feeling well and we could really do with the money! So finish around 10th March I think. I will be bloody enormous.

puppy even the thought of fish and chips has just given me heartburn! Hope you got some though. Mr Boom did offer to get me some at the beach but the idea made me Envy

PuppyMummy · 25/01/2014 22:41

then realised the messages r for poppy ha ha Grin Grin

Boomgoestheweasel · 26/01/2014 08:05

Oops.. Sorry puppy, although maybe it's a sign you should have some too!
