Hi all,

kat good news about the good appointment today. Good to hear too that your midwife is as scientific as mine in her predictions! Smile

I am really struggling at the moment. Nothing specific as just feeling rough and totally and utterly knackered. Am at work and could cry, just want to rest my head down. Still feeling lucky as I know it could be so much worse but.....

Am glad to hear the sickness is abating too- hope everyone is blooming more than me!

BlindKitty · 08/01/2014 13:58

kat I didn't think there was any truth in all that? Thought it was just one of those old wives tales!

thunder oh you have had a rough pregnancy haven't you? Hopefully this means you'll have a lovely birth just sneeze your little man lady out

So just waiting for my anomaly scan . Dh and I are entertaining each other by slagging off the waiting room by text to each other of course as most of them look like they would beat us up if they heard

Really hoping everything is ok. Got to have a scan if my cervix as I've had some previous treatment.

Thunderpantsarego · 08/01/2014 15:22

Oo kitty you must be done by now? Hope it all went ok? Hadn't realised that was today!

BlindKitty · 08/01/2014 15:27

I know, I thought I'd take a leaf out of puppy's book! Yep all done. She 'thinks' we're having a girl. Didn't mention that we'd already had a private scan, which I feel a bit bad about as she looked for ages - oops! So glad we had the private

Brodicea · 08/01/2014 16:18

Glad to hear the good news for kat and kitty

boo thunder - I feel totally knackered too: I thought things were supposed to get better in the second trimester….

CatsCantFlyFast · 08/01/2014 16:24

Good news Kitty. Kat was that your 28 week?
Thunder sorry you are feeling crappy. I'm keeping quiet as not back at work yet and don't want to rub it in, but also struggling. Back at the docs tomorrow

Here's one to amuse you all that has been puzzling me for a while... I fully anticipate after reading this that you will all give me the head tilt and go and start a new thread without me but I'm bemused enough to ask... Why does my flood like CM no longer go in the crotch of my knickers like it did pre pregnancy? Instead it seems to be high up in the front of my knickers... I initially wondered if this was due to my new shape and my pants sitting in a weird place but its been like this since pre bump and I don't think that is the cause. Is this just one of those weird pregnancy things? am too scared to consider the thought that it may be to do with something weird happening to my fanjo
Am assuming all of your faces are now like this ShockShockShockShock Grin

Boomgoestheweasel · 08/01/2014 16:32

Evening all! Just about to get up for night shift - not had as much sleep as I'd have liked because we had a growth scan this morning which was 2hrs late Angry. On the bright side all is well with the boomlets, both about the same size and on approx 50th centile so happy about that. Both still transverse though the little buggers mr Boom was on peniswatch but failed to spot any dingly danglies so is now convinced they're both girls Grin

kitty glad all ok at yours and good job you'd already found out Team Pink! Was cervix scan ok?

kat loving the old-school midwife tales. Size and shape of bump indeed Grin

thunder poor you, hope you get some me time for a bath or something tonight. I think your stage of pregnancy is hard, you're starting to feel exhausted but expected to carry on as normal. How long until mat leave?

OP posts:
Boomgoestheweasel · 08/01/2014 16:37

Sorry merk just giving the tumbleweed time to roll past...

Ditto! It's right up at the front, not even on the crotch bit of the knickers, keep misjudging liner placement! Needing to tote spare knickers about because it can be er, excessive.. Particularly if I sneeze!

I'll probably have to join you in Berry exile now after that admission..

CatsCantFlyFast · 08/01/2014 16:37

Arf at peniswatch. Like spring watch but slightly different Grin

Thunderpantsarego · 08/01/2014 16:39

brod, nope doesn't seem like 2nd tri is easier at all- that's when it got hard for me! And third tri is like wading through bloody treacle.

It's not like I've really been doing anything other than working either- feels so pathetic. Got pregnancy yoga tonight which is great for relaxation so that will help if I don't fall asleep

boom great stuff re growth scan. DH clearly missed darth's dangler though... My mat leave starts 8 weeks on Friday at 38 weeks. Feel like I could happily stop now and lie in a dark room for the remainder!

merk I'm afraid to say it but I totally agree! I haven't had the watery stuff, but the gunk cm that is generously produced is high up at the front. What the hell is that all about?

Hooray kitty! Good scan! And almost double confirmation about team pink. Smile

Thunderpantsarego · 08/01/2014 16:40

Ps boom two hours????? Shocking Shock

CatsCantFlyFast · 08/01/2014 16:46

Yey to me not being the only weirdo!

I have this bizarre feeling we are all going to have girls. Then we will end up on the front page of the daily fail or something Grin

I can't believe how slowly time is going at the moment... Seems worse than the first tri. And I am craving sugar which has me worried this baby will be huge by the time she arrives

CatsCantFlyFast · 08/01/2014 16:47

Snap on the liner placement boom... It's totally bizarre to be putting them so high up at the front

Thunderpantsarego · 08/01/2014 17:08

Did I hear you change your mind about thunder kitten there merk?

I'm still craving particular smells. Can't get enough.... ?

CatsCantFlyFast · 08/01/2014 17:24

I shall need to re examine thunder kitten scan pictures before lodging my final guess Grin
I am starting with the paranoia about something going wrong again mainly due to the borderline PAPP-A result I had making me worry about growth / poor placental function etc. I know my PAPP-A wasn't low enough to be classed as high risk (think I was told they would consultant care anything below .61 and I was .67) but it was low enough for the consultant at my private scan to mention it and advise growth scans. Should I scan?

CatsCantFlyFast · 08/01/2014 17:24

Thunder... Any smells other than pencils?? I would swap that for my ability to eat 12 mini rolls in one sitting and still want more sugar!

Thunderpantsarego · 08/01/2014 17:42

Yes merk, pencils is a minor one- mostly because it's what I can lay my hands on at my desk. Major ones are fresh ground black pepper and nutmeg that is freshly grated. Also have a thing about my bathroom plunger which I think smells a bit like new Tarmac. My mouth is running even typing about this!

What is this Papp A result? Would I have had it in the cheap seats here?

BlindKitty · 08/01/2014 17:49

merk boom not sure about cm positioning but since we've crossed that boundary now I only seem to release it after I've had a wee. Is is cm isn't it and not wee?? Really should remember to do my pelvic floors so I'm not so para!!!

boom cervix scan absolutely fine but I've got to have another 2 scans just to prove I'm fine all because someone has wrongly written in my notes that I've had an excision not cryotherapy! They've written to he hospital that did it in November but not heard back!

thunder I dread to think what smells you're craving! Went to an extremely smelly nursing home yesterday (so bad, I'm prob going to make a complaint) and really wished I didn't have such a heightened sense of smell atm!!!

BlindKitty · 08/01/2014 17:53

thunder really hoping your plunger is clean and that IRS not Cockney rhyming slang..

BlindKitty · 08/01/2014 17:54

*its

CatsCantFlyFast · 08/01/2014 18:32

The PAPP-A is one of the blood results done as part of the combined screening so yes you would have had it. A low result can be an indicator for downs. Normal (mean) is 1, and below .61 (I think) they monitor as its linked to all sorts of horrific things including still birth. My private consultant mentioned it and said if I was under their care they would monitor with growth scans as a minimum from 28 weeks which would help confirm accurate and expected growth and therefore placenta working as expected. Am sure loads of people have same result as me and all fine but the 'what if' scenario is going round in my head.
I think you need to carry lots of mini sniff pots around with you to satisfy your cravings. I am NOT going to ask how you found out what the bathroom plunger smells like in the first place Grin
Kitty are you sure its not wee. Somebody else mentioned if they sat on the loo for a little bit after a wee a bit more would come

Thunderpantsarego · 08/01/2014 19:03

merk this is what mine says- PAPP-A 4.160 IU/I, equivalent to 1.5924 MoM, adjusted by factor 0.90000
wtf does that mean?!

kitty Grin at rhyming slang, ha! It is perfectly clean and I smelt it as soon as I bought it. They're all smells I like anyway but I'm sure I don't usually crave them like this. I nearly bought a pepper grinder for my handbag....

BlindKitty · 08/01/2014 19:19

merk has your consultant refused to give you extra scans then? It's crazy, you want the extra scans and I'm annoyed I've got to have them! I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but if its bothering you that much can you put some pressure on the doc?

Think you might be right re wee. Right, need to start doing my pvs!!!!

PuppyMummy · 08/01/2014 19:23

good news re scan kitty

Smile
CatsCantFlyFast · 08/01/2014 19:33

The 1.59 is the comparative part. Ie yours was 1.59 vs the average /mean of 1.
