Open to all elderberry grads and anyone who fits the berry criteria: over 30, pregnant with #1 after trying for a loooong time, and nervous as hell. Come on in for handholding and nub theory!

Well all the 36s I've been lent by sil end up really painful by half way through the day so I must be a 38, but maybe the cups are a bit big. Just realised I have an outlet centre nearby so maybe they'll measure me in one of those shops.

BlindKitty · 05/01/2014 09:33

tally I think a lot of mat bras have thick straps, etc. I hardly look attractive in mine! I make sure it's well and truly off before mr kitty gets any viewings!

Thunderpantsarego · 05/01/2014 10:42

Morning all. boom how was the massage? How do you sit/lie for that? Sounds wonderful.

puppy glad all is well again with Mr pup and he made it up to you so well.

merk YOUCH that sounds horrible. I also get an uncomfy bump when I'm walking- particularly if I walk too fast, but nothing terrible... Yet....

tally I can't help with the bras I'm afraid. I'm still squeezing into my normal bras which are still comfortable- just a bit of spillage over the top sometimes. Sounds like going somewhere that they can actually fit you into some would be best. What about department stores?

Lazy weekend here which is lovely. I understand that sleeping becomes more difficult when you're pg, but I didn't expect that to be due to random body parts aching, like knees and ears... What's that all about??

CatsCantFlyFast · 05/01/2014 10:44

Tally a 36 could also be too painful as its too big... It doesn't necessarily mean the back size is too small. I think if you're struggling maybe to try a mothercare non underwired mat bra as they're less 'cupped' and more forgiving on size

Boomgoestheweasel · 05/01/2014 11:18

Thunder didn't get massaged in the end, couldn't find anywhere that had space! I'm probably going to book in for next Thursday though for a bit of me time after 3 night shifts. Apparently you sort of sit on a comfy stool and lean forwards over a beanbag to support your bump...

Just knackered myself walking and then bathing two very dirty dogs. Might now go and have a bath myself, I'm filthy!

I'm wearing my new bra today tally, merk's right - they have soft cups and there's a bit of spillage between them. Frankly they're more like a sports bra, but there's still a degree of separation rather than the dreaded monoboob so I don't look too bad as long as the clothes stay on

Hey!
Finally went bra shopping today in M&S, got measured and am now 36C (was 32-34B) got 2 nursing bras, not very flattering and feel a bit odd but they do seem to fit ok. Very odd not being under-wired. Also got 2 under-wired bras in my new size and 2 large crop tops for bed. I have been having to wear one in bed right from finding out I was pg! they are a bit small now, and although boobs no longer sore most of the time they do seem to get in the way a bit and I hope wearing one might reduce amount/extent of stretchmarks too! Got the above for £60 all together. How is anyone else finding maternity tights? I thought £6 a pair was a bit excessive so have left it for now (don't think I have a skirt that fits at the mo anywaySmile)

My sister has given me her support band for when bump is bigger -will have to see then if it is comfy at all.

Joy of joy, have a uti this week so after a couple of visits to the nurse then doctor started taking antibiotics on Friday Sad. benefits outweigh the risks we decided.
A fretful time though cause its always difficult to tell what little twinges and aches are normal, IBS or bladder related, hmm.
Going to ring antenatal tomorrow anyway as have not had a date through for 20 week scan or for next extra dildo-cam scan I should be having with consultant in a week and a half.

Happy New Year everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PuppyMummy · 05/01/2014 20:23

I need bras but really don't want to buy any yet! managing with mine with a back extender in but am coming out of the cups! will try and wait a few more weeks!

I like debenhams for decent measuring so will try there first!

we put the crib up today! Eek, need to measure it for a new mattress. and washed some baby clothes we had also been given!

Did anyone buy stuff before 20 week scan?

We have bits we hav been given and I have bought an outfit and toy but thats it!

we hav been looking at prams and nursery furniture today for research but not planning on buying anything yet...

BlindKitty · 05/01/2014 21:09

foody puppy got to say I'm soooo much more comfortable in maternity bras and tights! Re rights, I like the m&s ones but I only have the asos ones to compare them to

Foodylicious · 05/01/2014 21:20

Just to add some positives to this whole pregnancy lark -

My skin has not been this good for years, have had spots since first getting acne at age 11 and now finally just have the occasional one!

I have always had to wash my hair everyday and some days it would still be lank in the evening, now I can leave it a day or two! (and yes I used to try to to leave it to 'wash itself' as everyone one says the more you wash it the more it needs it - and it never worked!)

Boomgoestheweasel · 05/01/2014 21:26

Hi Foody Grin yay to the new bras and boo to the UTI! Very jealous of your skin/hair. I seem to have gone the other way, have always had dry skin and normal hair and now have a face like a pizza and hair like I've washed it in chip fat! Glowing I most definitely am not...

Foodylicious · 05/01/2014 21:40

Oh boom that's a bit pants! I am waiting for it all to change though as I reach another stage of pregnancy and hormones shift a bit again.

I mostly waddle when I walk, even when my back is not sore and have had an entire week of people at work telling me "oh god, there is no hiding it now is there?!" whilst pointing at my fat tummy. sadly they are right and i have put on about 10-12lbs not the recommended 5 i should have added by now. I did comment to one of the girls that my arse was just as much bigger and she exclaimed "oh my, its bloody huge!" we did laugh though as she is not wrong, but hers is still twice the size of mine.

Boomgoestheweasel · 05/01/2014 21:55

Ah foody step away from the scales! No idea how much I've put on but it's lots. I also have to put up with people at work saying 'oh gosh, you've popped!' all the time. Yes, yes I have, no need to point out the blooming obvious! I do love my mahusive bump though, although starting to get the fear about exactly how big it's going to get...

Bloody headaches aren't though, seem to start about 3 in the morning and there every time I wake up (which is a lot). Today's is particularly bad so very grateful I am not vomming this morning. last nights the first night I haven't taken promethazine for a while, so far so good!

Plan for today is to go through all my clothes and put away everything that does not fit, think I will go out and get some of those vacuum bags. I will be left with a very small pile of clothes Sad

Tallyra · 06/01/2014 12:09

yay foody!! that's cause for celebration!
I keep meaning to do a clothes sort but just can't bring myself to do it!

hi kat, thanks for asking. It disappeared at about 15 weeks, but over new year I think I got a bout of normal ms instead of hg - I'd get overly hungry, throw up and then be fine. not fun, but u can cope with that!

CatsCantFlyFast · 07/01/2014 15:07

Quiet in here recently. I've got an incredibly active baby at the mo, less kicking and more total movement that makes my entire stomach move with it... Never seems to stop. I'm also unable to bend over now and shoes and socks are becoming a challenge. Looking forward to being able to paint my own toenails again Grin

Kat when I wrote toes I thought bikini line. I tried to do mine and failed last week... Def a job for the pros!
Baby had a definite change in movement behaviour in the last few weeks so you may find you end up with an alien moving stomach yet

Brodicea · 07/01/2014 17:31

Howdy all, been away as we've been moving and finally got proper internet - don't like using mums net on my phone.
Glad to hear everyone is getting measured up for maternity bras, hopefully we'll all have relatively comfy boobs soon.
kat sounds familiar there with a cervix-dancing, performance shy baby - mine is the same!
I'm dreading the time when I need DH to do my bikini line - seriously tempted to just go au naturelle on that front (out of sight, out of mind!)

Tallyra · 07/01/2014 19:27

bikini line? I didn't do that much normally, let alone now I can't see down there! My legs are hard enough!
I've got a baby that goes absolutely crazy first thing in the morning and last thing at night. and when I eat or drink tea.
I'm 25 weeks at the moment kat

BlindKitty · 07/01/2014 20:35

kat I haven't been able to see that far in years (tend not to have contacts in in shower) so have perfected the art of doing it blind!
