Open to all elderberry grads and anyone who fits the berry criteria: over 30, pregnant with #1 after trying for a loooong time, and nervous as hell. Come on in for handholding and nub theory!

CatsCantFlyFast · 31/12/2013 15:29

Kitty GrinGrinGrin
I'm lounging in the bath hoping my groin pains are better when I get out, I'm seriously having to walk like a pregnant lady now to try to stop the shooting pain with every step Shock
Also nye celebrations have started early but I am pacing myself and not planning on joining until later with the hope I last until midnight.
My NCT is the signature course, however I booked the only one with places in my new town with the vaguely correct due dates, I wasn't specifically looking for signature vs essentials. Am a bit Shock about the women's only day though... What the heck are they planning on talking about that my OH can't hear???

Thunderpantsarego · 31/12/2013 15:32

It's ok kitty, it's gone Smile

I don't know which nct my course is- it's 4 evenings I think, and a social. I don't remember there being a choice about the type of course...

I thought that there's no obligation to meet up after babies are born, so if they seem like a competitive lot you can just avoid them? I'm hoping to meet someone as disastrous as me to be my new friend....!

Still at work here

Great news Kat
Thunder, whilst I don't live close by I will be equally if not more disastrous so we can be disastrous together!

CatsCantFlyFast · 31/12/2013 15:45

Boom/thunder is it correct our babies are supposed to be head down from28 weeks? I read it in a weekly baby progress email but it seems quite early to me

Thunderpantsarego · 31/12/2013 16:08

It's a shame we're not closer merk, I'm sure we could be a totally disastrous team together!

I hear they start to be head down from this time but this can change loads in between now and 40 weeks. Have you read anywhere they're more likely to be back to back with an anterior placenta?

Boomgoestheweasel · 31/12/2013 16:36

Merk most babies head towards their final position at around 28-32 weeks but can still flip around up to about 36 weeks so no need to fret at this point. Mine are still both transverse going on where I'm feeling the feet, bad boombabies.

Kat aah lovely news!

Thunder yes, slightly more likely to be OP but depends also on the shape of your uterus and mostly on how active you are. OP is mostly caused by people slouching on squishy sofas in my totally unscientific opinion

I'm a bit buggered because my dodgy uterine shape and double anterior placenta mean I'm heading toward breech, OP twins. Arse!

I didn't know there were two sorts of NCT...mine is two saturdays and an evening, plus a twin evening that I paid another £30 for. That's all that was on offer! I shall be the scatty one with bad hair who gets tutted at by all the yummy mummies Grin

Right, tomorrow I'll be at work again (joy) so happy new year to all berries and bumplets! This time tomorrow, we'll be having babies THIS YEAR!

OP posts:
Thunderpantsarego · 31/12/2013 17:22

I have no idea where feet and head are as I feel movement all over the place- sometimes in several places at once! I think I might be buggered in terms of OP then as I spend a lot of time on my sofa..!

boom yours have plenty of time to turn don't they?

BlearyeyedLol · 01/01/2014 10:04

Happy new year lovelies. This year you will all become proper mums GrinGrin

CharmingCats · 01/01/2014 23:00

Happy New Year! I will go to NCT and avoid them if necessary afterwards. But I do like the idea of meeting people in the same situation close by.
merk have you moved from the good life?

CatsCantFlyFast · 02/01/2014 00:48

Yup last week in the good life before moving out a bit further

Thunderpantsarego · 02/01/2014 06:55

Morning all,

At least it's just 2 more days til the weekend... Smile

Boomgoestheweasel · 02/01/2014 08:25

Morning! I actually have this weekend off thunder, two whole days of not being at work...so excited (sad but true). I am utterly exhausted though so will probably sleep and waste most of it..

Re babies turning, yes loads of time yet. I think I'm just being a massive pessimist, I'm convinced they're going to get in some sort of position that requires c-section which I desperately do not want. They've got two places they boot me, upper left hand side and lower right hand side (and occasional bladder bash). I'm assuming that this means they're both still transverse as it tallies with where I was told they were at last scan, but frankly I'm guessing! Next scan is on weds anyway, so will find out then Grin

How is everyone doing on the stretchmarks front? I'm amazed (given my now considerable girth) that I've avoided them so far, but skin is starting to look thin and tight so think they might be on their way...

OP posts:
Thunderpantsarego · 02/01/2014 08:39

Oo weekend off boom sounds like you deserve a good rest! Are you enjoying your job?

I get nudged bottom left and top right mostly- presumably it's elbows and feet or something? Is there a way of knowing which way up it is?

No stretch marks here and belly definitely still comfortably covered in padding over bump! Smile

CatsCantFlyFast · 02/01/2014 08:45

My boobs are covered in stretch marks

Thunderpantsarego · 02/01/2014 09:01

Brief and to the point, merk
Smile

Brodicea · 02/01/2014 09:23

Oh dear merk

No stretch marks on the belly as yet, but my boobs are incredibly veiny (not bulging veins, just under the surface) - I am extremely pale though so it might look worse on me!

Thunderpantsarego · 02/01/2014 10:36

I have veiny boobs too- no stretch marks yet maybe because the poor things are still being bundled into my pre-pregnancy bras?!

Boomgoestheweasel · 02/01/2014 11:14

I have a mega vein right in the middle of my cleavage - think pumped-up Arnie and you're pretty much there! Attractive...

Boo to the stretchmarks Merk. At least your bump has escaped so far! My boobs are already covered in them so probably wouldn't even notice if I got a few new ones...

Thunderpantsarego · 02/01/2014 11:24

Anyone else got any kind of sniffing cravings going on? They're things I normally really like the smell of but I just can't get enough at the moment. I've turned into a sniffing fiend....

Boomgoestheweasel · 02/01/2014 15:13

Nope, I'm boring - my sense of smell/taste doesn't seem to have changed at all apart from a weird aversion to fish. No cravings either really, I really do seem to be missing out on all the fun pregnancy freakishness!

OP posts:
Thunderpantsarego · 02/01/2014 15:20

Don't worry boom most of what you're missing is crap anyway!

Boomgoestheweasel · 02/01/2014 16:42

Discovery of the day: if I push my finger into my belly button and wiggle it around a bit one of the babies kicks it. Squeeeee!

Do not ask me how I discovered this.

OP posts:
Brodicea · 02/01/2014 17:16

boom there you go for some freaky baby fun!

Mine kicks a lot, usually around my cervix which feels weird. I can't usually feel it on the surface but DH said he could feel it the other night through my maternity pillow! (unless he is having freaky alien type dreams which would not be surprising)
