Oops I managed to finish the last thread - so here we go!

Janie - fingers crossed

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
icklemssunshine · 06/12/2013 13:34

Damn - accidentally pressed "done"!

Told it maybe difficult to have new MW as the community midwife had a number of practices under her so my only option maybe hospital visits.

getagoldtoof · 06/12/2013 14:40

Hello all - I'd like to join you, if that's ok. Had two mc, one this july. Got the most amazing amount of support from fedup (hello, lovely!), and others on the ttc threads during that process and since.

I'm now 10 weeks, but not at all able to relax or celebrate. I have had brown spotting for five fucking weeks now. Sorry for swearing but it's getting me down. Just had a chat with DH who has agreed to go for a private scan as I've had a couple of nhs scans at epu, last at 7 weeks, but they've told me not to come back unless bleeding gets dramatically worse. So scan is on sunday, and I'm really worried, can't help it.

So I'll catch up on who is who, but did also want to say congrats to janine, it's nice to see there are happy endings here after mc.

fedupofrainydays · 06/12/2013 14:52

Thanks ladies. And good to see some familiar names faces on here. I definately need some hand holding emki and ickle be great to be support buddies!

So I think I'm 4 wks + 5 which was why I was freaking out about the cb digi. As a total minimum I'm 4 + 2 so should really be showing 2 to 3 weeks by now. But I'm not going to stress. she says

I always knew when I finally got my bfp it was going to be stressful time. But I didn't bet on all this blood. Making it a lot harder.
I think if I'm a) still pregnant and B) still bleeding at 6 weeks I will go to EPU to see if they will scan me. If not I'm going private at 7 wks. I just want to know if there is anything there. Last time I got to two days before my 12 week scan, had a tiny bit of brown blood so went to EPU to me cautious just to find I had one massive sac and no baby to be seen anywhere. I had all the pregnancy symtoms too. Really tough.

geta I can't believe you are still bleeding too, but at least it hasn't got worse so there is no real reason why things should be ok as per the last scan. Bit I know that's still so hard.

fedupofrainydays · 06/12/2013 14:56

Ps. saggy I'm reciting away. "Today I'm pregnant...."

icklemssunshine · 06/12/2013 15:45

fedup I know exactly how you feel. I had the tiniest bit if spotting in Feb so was sent for scan - wasn't concerned as had same with DD & had all the pg symptoms. Found out later the sac was growing at normal rate but baby had dies at 6 weeks. It's hard not to obsess isn't it? My friend is currently 10 weeks pg & not concerned at all, wish I could be more like her! That's the long lasting effect of MC I guess. I wouldn't take any notice of pg tests. Best thing is to have a blood test at this stage. My EPU took mine at 4+3 and 4+6 (should be 48 hours apart but that fell at w'end). See your GP and express your concerns. Mine's been fab (except for next referring me to a different MW so will have to see bitch one).

icklemssunshine · 06/12/2013 15:46

Eurgh, so many typo's. Must preview in future!! Sorry!!

icklemssunshine · 06/12/2013 15:56

Oh and geta ironically I had thicker brown discharge (sorry for tmi) and for a longer period of time with DD (now 2) than I did with the MC. Think positively - that little bean is burrowing itself nice and deep or it could be hormonal changes with your body adapting to pg.

fedupofrainydays · 06/12/2013 16:02

ickle how come doctor offered bloods? Mine was more... Just wait it out. Now its late on fri I will be lucky to get gp appt on Monday. I feel a bit stupid as this month I actually went to see the gp about fertility help as was not getting pregnant. She turned me down saying I needed to wait another year before they would help me :( so worry if I go she will say no to bloods.

icklemssunshine · 06/12/2013 16:19

I've got a very supportive GP. This year I've had major surgery and part of it was private treatment on NHS as my GP referred me to the local private and NHS hospital. I had these bloods as I had right side ovarian pain at 3 weeks pg - I actually thought it was OV but one week later I had a positive pg test. Because of my endometriosis my GP was concerned this pg was ectopic. Apparently hormone levels rise slower in ectopics, mine are in normal range. Just got to hope to see a pg in uterus Monday. Think I'll be very lucky to see anything more at 5+6. Is there another GP you can see and say the worry is affecting your health therefore the baby's? If my GP wasn't this supportive I'd be going private. I may do this anyway if I don't get repeat scans. You should never let a GP make you feel like you're wasting their time. You health and well being is paramount.

icklemssunshine · 06/12/2013 16:22

Oh and don't feel silly about the fertility help situation. I was given clomid in October as took over a year to conceive (before MC). Had very light period at end of Oct so GP said not to take it again and wait til next month and then I get pg on my own! You can't help the way your body works!!

fedupofrainydays · 06/12/2013 16:35

In actually feel a bit calmer at the mo. don't know why. Think I'm more accepting of what will be will be. If it sticks its the right one. If I lose it, it wasn't right. This is what I'm trying to tell myself anyway. I will see how I feel on Monday and if v worried I will be at the doctors like a shot. When will the NHS get with it and start opening at weekends. It's so annoying! People don't decide when they have stuff wrong with them!

MeDoingMyThing · 06/12/2013 17:54

fedup - sorry you are having a tough time. It's hard isn't it? I was told that once they see a heartbeat (between 6 - 7 weeks) the miscarriage risk goes down dramatically. Maybe try and hang on to the thought of getting to that point and having a private scan?

The Harmony test is the next generation of downs testing - basically finds 99% of downs, Edwards etc without being invasive. It's a combination of scans and bloods - bloods sent to USA for screening as is only place with technology to read data. Tends to be done at 10ish weeks then another scan at 12 weeks. Not on nhs yet but we have two kids so for us having a baby with problems would be very hard - my husband is rarely at home in the week and I don't think I'd cope. So we paid our £400 at the FMC on Harley street and had the test. Very nice clinic!! No Xmas pressies for me and DH this year - that was out gift to each other.

Sending you hugs and lots of positive thoughts.

Penguinita · 06/12/2013 18:53

Congrats on your graduation fedup, I thought I recognised you but then sometimes people have very similar names (there are at least three other penguin related names on the pregnancy threads!). CB digi tests are notoriously inaccurate says she who used three of them trying to get the numbers to go up

And welcome gold too how lovely to have a few more graduates! There haven't been many since me and emki about ten weeks ago (glad you found us again emki Grin)

louzol it is very scary when your symptoms disappear but mine sometimes went for 3-4 days at a time when I was at your stage, so although it is worrying I think it is quite normal.

Thanks for all of the advice on redundancy. You girls are just the best Flowers I feel a lot more reassured now. I'm not in a trade union but it is a large multinational company so I'm hoping they will do everything by the book. There is a special q and a session for expectant mums next week so hope I can get some more answers there.

fedupofrainydays · 06/12/2013 19:04

Did your numbers go up penguin?
I'm trying hard to not go out and buy more to test on Sunday. Read a lot about people who mc when theirs didnt go up. I fucking hate technology sometimes, I just know too much. Ugh. Sorry for the swearing but I just wish I had thought this was my period and had been non the wiser about bfps.
Been googling and found a scan place I think does them at 5 / 6 weeks so might go there. Or just take myself to EPU.

Swear I felt more pregnant a couple of days ago. It may sound stupid but I've taken photos of my bfps.. Just want to remember that it can happen. I did get two lines.

icklemssunshine · 06/12/2013 19:29

Try to stay positive fedup. I don't "feel" pregnant either. I'm just hoping those symptoms will appear later or I'm one of the "lucky" ones who won't get any. I feel your desperation though. If I felt even the slightest bit sick that would be a sign.

Penguinita · 06/12/2013 19:33

fedup my numbers went up eventually, but later than I expected them to. I have many photos of pregnancy tests on my phone Smile

getagoldtoof · 06/12/2013 20:06

Fedup - go to epu. I went at 4.4 or something ridiculously early, but it was reassurance that at least there was a sac there. However, I know given what what you've been through, I'm not sure that would be enough reassurance for you.

The scan I booked today was £39 in chelsea, and it's on a weekend. I would book on for a week or twos time if you don't fancy epu.

Ahh, been hearing a lot about harmony testing. They offer it at my hospital on nhs if you have a worrying nuchal scan. It's well worth paying for, though, and I would in a heartbeat if I was worried and could afford it.

ickle, thanks so much for the positivity. I have pg symptoms which I know dont mean everything, but make me a bit hopeful.

Thanks for allowing me to ramble on your thread. Very helpful X

fedupofrainydays · 06/12/2013 20:59

I do have reservations with my EPU. Just worried I will get same horrid, unsympathetic, arrogant sonographer! He was so insensitive, didnt let me ask questions and just banged in about 1 in 3 pregnancies ended in mc, and just cos I have had this one doesn't mean I have had my 'one' and I could mc again, and how he was the best sonographer around and would have picked up ectopic (despite me being 11 weeks by then so surely I would have died if it had been?!). Was such a knob.

At the mo I would be happy with a sac! As that's all I would expect at that point... Hmm I think will wait til 5 weeks then get my arse there. Unless it all ends before then.

My only symptom (apart from the brown gunk instead of af!) is I have gone off red meat. Happened with mc too though as well as with ds.

£39!!!!! That's so cheap! Mine is like £90!

Harmony tests sound great too, pricey but like you say, worth it for reassurance if worried.

fedupofrainydays · 06/12/2013 21:02

What's the name of that one in Chelsea geta? I'm Surrey so not too far for that price and weekend - if it gets your good review that is!! X

blueskies19 · 06/12/2013 22:21

hi all
hope its ok to join this thread again - I couldn't log on for a week so I'm reappearing if that's OK!

I got my BFP last week and I think I'm 5+2 and have had quite a few previous mcs so am really very anxious indeed about this one

I'm a bit scared as I started off last week having a few symptoms like dizziness, sore boobs, cramping and slight nausea and now all my symptoms have totally disappeared and that is making me panic - is that normal or not?

I have done tests every day and they all say positive in various shades some darker than others so that is the only thing that is proving to me that I am pg as I have no symptoms of pg at all but as I've had a few mcs its fair to say I'm petrified and have turned into the queen worrier!

I have a scan booked for a few weeks but nothing till then - is anyone else about the same dates as me with no symptoms? It would be so reassuring if there was as I seriously think there is something wrong with all the tests I've been taking as I just don't feel at all pg

any advice gratefully received

icklemssunshine · 07/12/2013 05:30

Congrats on your BFP Blueskies. I'm 5+4 and have no pg symptoms at all. It's freaking me out too. Just trying to comfort myself that my pg symptoms only appear around 8 weeks (been pg twice - 1 DD, 1 MMC). Both cases I only "felt" pg at 8 weeks. If I get to 8 weeks & still have no symptoms I'll be a wreck!!

getagoldtoof · 07/12/2013 06:45

Ultrasound Direct offer this cheap one. They have clinics all over the place, so may be one nearby to you fedup. I am going to say I'm not 100% of my dates, as I'm going a bit early for the cheap scan. Think their standard scan is about £100. I can't really justify spending that much right now.

That epu man sounds terrible, you poor thing. What a shitty experience.

DS has just woken up, will be back to see how you all are.

Ps hello blueskies, congrats. I also did a test every day and spent hours diagnosimg if they had got darker. Arghh, it was quite hard going.

Lieslvontrapp · 07/12/2013 07:11

Congrats to janie on the arrival of your little boy! So pleased that it all kicked off before you needed an induction. Do come back and tell us more.

Welcome to all the newbies and sorry to hear some are having spotting. The first trimester is so horrible after a mc with all the symptom spotting but try and rake one day at a time and if you can get a scan around 8 wks for reassurance that should help.
