Saggy I almost feel sorry for your sonographers this month Wink I wouldn't wanna get on the wrong side of you!! How is Ryvita doing?
DP has gone on a very rare night out tonight, surely Sod's law means I HAVE to go into labour early hours?

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 11/01/2014 21:15

Grin Grin
Do I come across as that scary? I'm really not! I'm a big wet fish really.
I was just so upset last time . I didn't even get to see the screen. Sad
Ryvita is doing well. She's currently practicing her hot shoe shuffle! Grin
Youll go into labour when your baby is well and truly cooked. Wink If you're 38 weeks that could be up to another month away! Confused Hmm Grin

blueskies19 · 11/01/2014 23:16

thanks so much for your reply saggy - Im so sorry you had a similar experience at your 12 week scan

I am amazed that the sonographers are all so different - some so rubbish and a few very good ones - I like you had one very good guy who was so gentle and told me that there was no reason the horrible woman should have pushed into my abdomen with such force - the rubbish ones should not be allowed to treat us all in this appalling way by actually causing us pain and harm :(

Good for you saying exactly what you want in your next scan saggy - I think even though Im normally very reserved and wouldn't dream of ever saying boo to a goose this experience I had with the horrendous scan has turned me into a very scary person who is not afraid of saying exactly what I think and I too will not hold back at my next scan as the last one terrified and hurt me so much

Right rant over from me :)

Thank you again all you lovely ladies for your reassuring and comforting words when Ive been feeling so low and panicked by the whole thing - hugs to you all

Exciting for you Christine - its so close now - I will keep my fingers crossed it goes really well for you

Penguinita · 12/01/2014 09:08

I just had a dream that I was eating pate. Ooooh, it was lovely! Grin

Sorry you had a rubbish sonographer blueskies. Apart from the worry, it must also ruin what is supposed to be a lovely experience. Is it worth saying something to the hospital?

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow. I have a bit of scan doom, but it is different from 12 weeks as I know from all the wriggling that Pingu is alive and kicking in there. Instead I'm worried that they will find something seriously wrong. Thing to tell myself that is unlikely and look forward to seeing the little one again and maybe find out if it is a boy or a girl. I reckon it is a girl, no idea why!

Re caffeinated tea, I stopped completely during the first trimester and now I get a headache if I have caffeinated. So I wish I'd carried on with one cup in the morning.

Louzul · 12/01/2014 09:56

Hi ladies! My tea top tip. I'm finding I've gone off the taste of tea ( and wine Blush)! But I still like the idea of a hot cup of something. Red bush tea or Rooiboo's as it's sometimes called is ace, and you can have it with or without milk, but is caffeine free and v safe during PG. Peppermint is a lifesaver in the evening when I tend to feel a bit gassy !!

Blue I feel over a few days ago (I was just at 13 weeks), landed right on my tummy. I panicked I hurt the baby. We rushed to hospital and they scanned us and it was all fine. The dr said babies are very well protected and deep down at this point. Hopefully this makes you feel better, as my 'little bit' as we are calling it, is fine after me being an idiot and falling over, so I am sure a scan won't have caused harm. I still panic though about the fall, so know how you feel.

allisgood1 · 12/01/2014 12:04

Hi all.

Blue, like the others have said bubba is well protected now so don't worry about the hard pushing (what a senseless sonographer!!)

TMI but DH and I DTD last night and it burned like fire after. I went to sleep but now I am having to wee frequently and it burns after. UTI or thrush? Do I need to go to GP please say no as its such a hassle??

I'm carrying on with one cup of black tea in the morning. I hate it and it takes a lot to get it down but it gives me a slight lift. Very slight nausea starting now....I had HG with DD1 and am so hoping I am fine with this one even though a little nausea would be nice

kjh5 · 12/01/2014 12:45

Penguin I felt the same before my 20 week scan. I was literally in there for just a few minutes before I realised that it really is a routine check to see how the baby is doing with lots of measurements being taken. It helped that I had a great sonographer who was incredibly calm and reassuring and explained absolutely everything we were seeing. Overall it was a wonderful experience and the detail is just amazing. I was also convinced we were having a girl - turned out to be a boy! Had a little cry when he told us (of happiness that is). Hope you don't get too worked up about it tonight. Just focus on those wriggly kicks and movements xx

Oh man do I want pate now!!!

bakingtins · 12/01/2014 14:43

penguin good luck for your scan tomorrow. I am bricking it about mine on Friday, though mercifully not that they will say baby has died as I have lots of wriggles too. I'm still worried something will be wrong though!
Will look for your update tomorrow to say all is well and Pingu is blue/pink....

MissHobart · 12/01/2014 16:37

Allis - sounds like cystitis, specially if your dtd a lot! Drink lots, you can get powders from the supermarket add well, or cranberry juice is good. Get it checked though, I'm not a Doctor! Grin

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 12/01/2014 19:33

I don't drink a lot of tea or coffee, but I find hot ribena is great. No caffeine and a bit of a sugar boost to perk you up.
Good luck to everyone scanning this week. I know it's worrying but it's also an opportunity to see your babies, and that is never a bad thing. Smile

Pixielady83 · 13/01/2014 12:13

Hi everyone, just dropping in to say good luck for the scans this week and remember the mantra 'today we are pregnant' Smile

saggy hope you're feeling better.

christine hope things start happening for you soon.

On caffeine, I personally don't think it's anything to worry about unless you drink a lot of strong coffee. However I don't have any evidence to back that up. Would be interesting to see what 'Expecting Better' says on it - I keep meaning to read that as it's meant to be a very rational approach to a lot of the more panicky and probably slightly unnecessary and over the top advice pregnant women are given.

Last week of work, heaps to do, and feeling the urge to nest instead. Brace yourself for lots of boring baby equipment questions next week ladies as I try and remember what I need!! I think I may well need talking out of unnecessary trips to mothercare and ikea as we really really don't need much any baby stuff but I'm really feeling the urge to shop!

Penguinita · 13/01/2014 12:17

Team Pink... Probably! The picture wasn't that clear so we could still get a surprise! Grin

Everything looked good at the scan. It is such a relief. Will post more later as I'm at work now. So excited, it all feels much more real now!

Pixielady83 · 13/01/2014 12:23

yay penguin! lovely that it went well and might be a girl Smile be prepared in case of surprise though - one of my friends just found out at a late scan that the little girl she has been expecting is actually a little boy!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 13/01/2014 12:33

Yay! good scan news! Keep it up ladies! Grin

Alb1 · 13/01/2014 12:54

Hello, sorry for my slow replying, work crazy hours over the weekend. Thank u for the reassurance, all seems to have calmed down since so I'm trying to less paranoid. Nice to see new people joining aswell hope all goes well for u all Smile

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 13/01/2014 15:50

Woo hoo! I just rang the MW and my GTT test results were within normal boundaries. Smile
They also sent my urine away and that has come back clear too. Smile Smile
Finally some good test results! Grin

Next stop, a growth scan on thursday and a cardiac scan in London on Tuesday. Fingers crossed.

TeaAndANatter · 13/01/2014 16:26

Good news Saggy!!

Ummmmmm - pate! Whoever said that is in big trouble. I'm going to dream of that now for days.

Pixielady83 · 13/01/2014 16:32

That's fab news saggy whoop!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 13/01/2014 16:47

Gah! Don't shout too loud! Confused
Ive just had a call from a diabetic MW who said she had looked at my results and while they were within normal they were high normal and she would like to see me! Confused
Apparently the first blood test, after my initial fast was out. I suggested that it might be to do with being ill and apparently it could well, I shouldn't have had the test if I was ill and I need another! Confused
But, I need to book it in the day before I next see the consultant, ive checked that appointment and it is the same day as the cardiac scan and I can't go. The next alternative is 18 Feb. Ryvita will be nearly here! Confused
So now all of my appointments are in a muddle and nobody is answering the phone at the hospital! Confused
Flipping heck!

Pixielady83 · 13/01/2014 17:42

Oh no, that's so crap saggy. Sounds like they don't know what they're doing... Forgive my ignorance on GD, but what can they actually do if you do have it vs what will happen if it's left untreated? Is it just that they're worried about Ryvita getting too big? Wouldn't that get picked up in your regular scans?

I really remember getting messed around with appointments at the end of my last pregnancy and none of them having any concept of how it important it was to get stuff checked and sorted before I actually went into labour, they just didn't get it. I didn't even have a mw appointment after 37 weeks as they didn't have enough midwives, so my next one fell four days after DD arrived.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 13/01/2014 18:02

They need to regulate my diet and exercise so that the diabetes doesn't affect Ryvita. Her abdomen is already coming up large, which is apparently common for Down's, but could also be linked. It could also affect her post birth blood sugars. Given her problems id rather sort it all out. and know where we stand.
Its like appointment spaghetti junction! Confused I'll ring back tomorrow and sort it out.
