Great news, Janie, and many congratulations xx

Welcome Friday, and crossing fingers for this one. Lots of spotters on this forum!

Penguinita · 05/12/2013 18:16

Welcome fedup and congrats on your bfp! Were you on the TTC after MC thread?

Thanks everyone for the support about redundancy, and for the helpful link pixie. I'm going to copy my post from the redundancy thread on here, as nobody has responded to it yet! Sorry it is a bit dull.

My whole department has been told that we need to decide between relocation or redundancy. If we take redundancy, the company says it can decide on the exit timing for each individual based on "business needs" and it could be any time in the next two years.

My question is whether it is within their rights to make those of us on maternity leave redundant first? Clearly there is no business need to have us on the payroll for a day longer than necessary. This does feel discriminatory, but as they have offered us a suitable alternative role if we relocate do we forfeit pregnancy protection if we decline it?

fedupofrainydays · 05/12/2013 18:42

Hi, yes I've been on the ttc after mc thread for months!!

Sorry I can't really help re HR issues, I don't understand what's legal and what's not re mat leave.

I am not feeling positive about this bean at all and fear my time on this thread will be short lived but felt bad about banging on about it on the other thread when everyone else wants a bfp! Mines a bit more than spotting but not quite a period flow. Liner stuff not tampon stuff at the mo.

Pixielady83 · 05/12/2013 19:08

welcome fedup really hope its a smooth pregnancy for you Smile I'm no expert on spotting but from what others have said that doesn't sound abnormal. Hope it clears soon.

christine really glad you're signed off, what a relief for you!

penguin relocation offer aside they cannot treat you any differently because of your pregnancy. Therefore if they ended your contract earlier than others who had also refused relocation that would be illegal in my view as they would be disadvantaging you as a result of the pregnancy. They would have to base their decision on when to end your contracts on something subjective so as to be fair to you all. I think this stands even if you refuse the relocation. I'm rusty on how relocation affects what is considered a reasonable offer but if it's at a considerable distance and your contract doesn't state an expectation to work on any of the company's sites (worth checking) I think it could be argued it was not a reasonable alternative. I would be interested in others views on that one though as I'm not 100%

ChristineDaae · 05/12/2013 19:39

Fedup - we do have a lot of bleeders on this thread, general consensus is brown doesn't automatically mean bad news. Have you got a local EPU you can visit?

Penguin - as far as I'm aware, they can't make you redundant at a different time than others in your dept who are currently at work and have refused relocation. How many are there in your dept?

MeDoingMyThing · 05/12/2013 19:52

ickle not at all - this is your pregnancy and yours to enjoy. Not one for unhappy triggers from an incompetent midwife.

janie - so excited for you and sounds like you're coping well with the contractions. Can't wait to hear how you get on. You have a virtual cheer leading team here!

I had my final scan for the harmony test today at the FMC. All fine - less than 1 in 10,000 chance for each of the things they tested for. Word of warning for anyone thinking of having the harmony test there - do not book trains in single tickets (ie: book an open return instead) as they sometimes run late. Today an hour late. I managed to just make my train but it was really stressful.

MeDoingMyThing · 05/12/2013 19:54

Janie - HUGE congrats! I only read first page of thread when I posted! How wonderful. LOVE the name. X

fedupofrainydays · 05/12/2013 20:07

Congratulations janie I have just read the rest of this thread and huge congrats on your lovely Leo.

I think I'm too early for EPU. Only 4 weeks preggers. They wouldn't be able to see anything on a scan til 6 weeks.
But good to hear (well not for those ladies) I'm not alone in the bleeding stress. Here is hoping it doesn't get red..

Excuse my ignorance but what's a harmony test medoing?

ChristineDaae · 05/12/2013 20:26

Oh I forgot, I wanted to tell you all. At the PGP group, I found out that getting pg again quickly after a MC can be a risk factor. I think this is the only one that applied to me, as I didn't have any pain at all when having DD. it's because Relaxin starts getting released at 5 weeks, so any MC after that, your body has had a good dose of relaxin, and is still trying to get rid of it when you get pg again.

GuffSmuggler · 05/12/2013 20:44

Hi fedup I remember you from the TTC thread, is great to see you here.

Sounds like the right timing for an implantation bleed, so you need to just wait it out and be as positive as you can until you can get scanned. The mantra here is 'today you are pregnant' and you stay that way until told otherwise!! It got me through those though first weeks, they go so slowly until you can get the reassurance you need.

Louzul · 05/12/2013 20:51

Oh Hi! Sorry I've been off radar for a bit. Hurrah for all the BFP's, thread babies and successful scans.

Sorry I've had a few worrying things happen. I'm now 8+1, and it was a week later in my last PG, that i had my MC. So i'm freaked out as my symptons have suddenly started dropping off. Boobs less painful, less nausa, even slightly less tired. Panicking! Also one of my dear friends from university just gave birth to a little boy. I found out she was PG a week after my MC (which i didn't tell her about), and it's just brought up all these feelings of panic, and sadness. My DH is working all hours at the moment and I'm so so scared. Sorry for freaking out, and i know i cant change anything, just get through it and think positive.

Is it normal to start losing or symptoms lessening at 8 weeks? Help!! Confused Sad

Louzul · 05/12/2013 20:54

Oh and penguinita, are you a member of a trade union. They have given me fab legal advice when I've had work legal issues, and always helped me out. x

cosmickitten · 05/12/2013 21:41

Hey ladies very out of loop (mainly had my head down a loo) huge congratulations to new babies, bfp and happy scan news.

Haven't caught up on thread cos even looking a screen adds to the epic puking. However after a scary vomiting blood episode I now have some anti sickness meds. Hoping they kick in soon and I can re joined the world!!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 05/12/2013 22:29

Take heart Penguin, Ive been to an industrial tribunal over unfair dismissal during PG. They wiped the floor with my employer. To quote: "The rules regarding employment during PG are draconian"...
Are you in a trade union?

Missmidden · 06/12/2013 08:23

Coming late to it but many congratulations Janie, so pleased you got in there before induction!

Fedup I was one of those spotting cases that wasn't a problem- in my first (successful) pregnancy I had about a week's worth of brown grunge around 4 wks that I naively took for a light AF so didn't test til the same happened at 8 wks. I also got the same again at 12 weeks. This was a totally normal pregnancy so please don't assume the worst and I have my fingers crossed for you.

Louzel sorry about the lessening symptoms. I believe HCG peaks in the 8th week so some reduction could be seen, but also they can come and go. I am 8+3 and there are some days when boob soreness (my only symptom) goes AWOL. Have you had any scans yet?

fedupofrainydays · 06/12/2013 08:41

Thank you miss that's good to know it turned out ok for you.
I stupidly took a cb digital today hoping it would have progressed from 1 to 2 weeks to 2to 3 bit nope. I don't know how accurate these things are but trying and failing to ignore it.

lou it's horrible isn't it, analysing all the symptoms to the nth degree. If you haven't had a scan yet I would def go get one, they are 100 quid privately but worth it on terms of sanity. I will be doing it if I get that far with this pregnancy.

And hi guff I remember you! How many weeks are you now?? Xx

GuffSmuggler · 06/12/2013 09:42

fedup I'm nearly 28 weeks and massive! Can't believe it.

Now step away from the PG tests, it will do no good!

Louzul · 06/12/2013 09:47

Thanks miss and rainy. Seriously considering it, just for my piece of mind. Really painful boobs last night, but the sickness has gone. I'm off sick today, as think i am fighting a cold. Feeling achy and rough, with tickly cough. Working at home, which is quite nice!!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 06/12/2013 10:21

Fedup you're not on the ttc thread now, so step AWAY from the pee sticks! Wink
CBD can be up to 10 days out. They are more trouble than they are worth!
Remember our mantra, "today I am pg" and try not to stress too much. Smile easier said than done

MissMedusa · 06/12/2013 11:28

louzul my morning sickness dropped off around 8 weeks as well. I wasn't completely back to normal but it was much better than it had been.

icklemssunshine · 06/12/2013 12:54

Fedup - maybe we can support each other? I'll be 6 weeks on Tuesday & each day wake up analysing everything. I haven't got any pg symptoms & it's freaking me out (even though I have a 2 yo DD & didn't gave morning sickness til 8 weeks).

Got a scan Monday - do you think they'll see a heartbeat that soon? Think the scan is to determine an ectopic as had some ovary pain. Trying not to think about the outcome.

With having a MMC I'm now worried about any scans. Just reminds me of February when I went for a scan at 11 weeks & being told they couldn't see anything. Hate the waiting!!

Emki · 06/12/2013 13:27

Phew! With penguin 's help I found you! Thinking of youJanie

ickle ask to see another mw, ensure you feel totally comfortable and confident with the people who will be looking after you. Have they given you a date for your booking in apt?

Emki · 06/12/2013 13:29

I so didn't read to the last page of the thread! Will catch up!

icklemssunshine · 06/12/2013 13:32

emki no, haven't got a MW appointment yet. How it works at my practice is that I fill out a form and wait for call, usually around 8 weeks. Have been t
