I hope no-one thinks this thread is too 'exclusive' or 'cliquey', but I can no longer join in with the weight loss thread, so I thought I would start this one up!

I wish I had had the benefit of the internet (and especially Mumsnet, of course!) first time around and felt pretty isolated after ds was born, so it's good to have some 'virtual' friends in the same boat now I'm expecting no 2.

It would be interesting as well to find out just how many of us are pregnant, there must be loads of us! and just to have a general chinwag.

congrats all ya mums 2 be! i will be 2 in january! hehe but im only 16! do u think im 2 young? weve been tryin 4 a baby 4 the last 3 months but now we struck luck! anyone else bin threw that? xxx

miriamw · 28/04/2003 11:35

Welcome to mumsnet Kirby. And congratulations on your pregnancy - I hope you're feeling well through these early days.

Do I think that 16 is too young? I'm not sure that age is the best indicator of whether you're ready to become a mother. Certainly motherhood can be tiring, so the younger you are the better. But it is also financially demanding, and you will want a secure home from which to raise your child - those aspects may not be present in a 30 year old any more than a 16 year old. If you feel ready and able to be a mother, then you're then any age is right - and this is obviously a wanted baby.

As for how long it takes to conceive, that really does vary widely - 3 months is certainly quite normal. Many of us took a lot longer than that!

Hope all goes well with the pg.
