I hope no-one thinks this thread is too 'exclusive' or 'cliquey', but I can no longer join in with the weight loss thread, so I thought I would start this one up!

I wish I had had the benefit of the internet (and especially Mumsnet, of course!) first time around and felt pretty isolated after ds was born, so it's good to have some 'virtual' friends in the same boat now I'm expecting no 2.

It would be interesting as well to find out just how many of us are pregnant, there must be loads of us! and just to have a general chinwag.

Hi all,

Malmomum is alternating between making earth-womamn noises in the bathroom, gyrating her hips, and bouncing up and down on a birthball (looks like fun, that). Contractions are coming every few minutes, lasting about a minute.

The midwifes are on their way, and hopefully they have shorter to go than the baby.

Take care

MalmoDad

MalmoMum · 03/08/2002 07:14

Well,

the baby was quicker than the Midwifes; he was born 9 minutes after the previous post! The midwifes talked me through the delivery much the same way I imagine an aeroplane is talked down!

Mother and Baby are doing fine; MalmoMum was absolutely brilliant.

Joe1 · 07/08/2002 20:12

Havnt posted on here for a while, been a bit busy but how is everyone going?

It isnt long for some of us, are you suffering with the heat too. I didnt with ds so it has been tough. Getting comfy in bed is nearly impossible, though dh has got me a bump support so lets hope that helps.

debster · 08/08/2002 13:55

Hi Joe1

I've got 9 weeks to go and still have 6 more weeks at work

I'm finding pregancy this time round quite hard going. The SPD is really getting me down, especially at night. Back ache really bad this time round. Sorry to moan but I'm not enjoying myself at all. Thank god for dp who has taken on more or less all the household chores, cooking, cleaning, sorting out ds, massaging my back when I need it etc. I don't know what I would do without him. He has been my rock.

Joe1 · 08/08/2002 14:16

Hi Debster

Your 3 weeks will soon disappear, look how quick the weeks have gone by since we found out we were expecting.

My dh has also been wonderful. He has been doing housework, cooking and putting up with my mood swings which cant be easy. He has his Liverpool shirt on its way for a thank you. It has been harder this time, I think mainly due to having a toddler to look after. We havnt had the rain expected yet so really muggy and hard to breath. Im only doing my bodyshop parties until the end of August, although I havnt got many this month due to holidays and school out.

I am drinking milk by the gallon at the moment but have really gone off food. Trying hard to eat the right things but not easy. Star bars go down well though

We are going to go away for a week in November, a nice break for all of us.

MotherofOne · 08/08/2002 17:57

MOTHEROFTWO HERE!!
Here I am!! Wow - Saturday 3rd August was a busy day then (hearty congrats Malmomum!!).
We had our second little boy, born at 8.14pm Sat evening. Sorry I haven?t posted sooner, but we ended up with a different from planned, but still extremely positive & rewarding birth.
Basically although we planned a home birth, I think many of you know that I went to over 42 weeks. I was getting a little anxious and also feeling concerned about the increased risk (albeit small) in ?post maturity?. After 3 ?sweeps? and numerous other fairly non-invasive ?encouragements?, basically dh & I decided (in consultation with my MW) to go into hospital to have my waters broken to try to induce labour.
So, went to my chosen (not most local!)hospital and had ARM at about midday Sat (still by my Independent Midwife). Then we were told ?go out, have lunch, wander around etc - it may take ages or not even work at all!). Anyway we went into town to buy some final baby things, and at about 2 pm after a few period aches, I started contractions (in Mothercare of all places!)which were only 2 mins apart!
Anyway, back to hospital, and everything went extremely quickly, and I managed well with just my tens machine, and then the pool (which we were still filling as I got in!). Unfortunately however, like last time, things started to become difficult during 2nd stage. Last time I felt I didn't push properly, but this time I KNOW this wasn't the case, and my MW was EXCELLENT at helping me try all sorts of different positions to encourage him down. However, after about 1.5 hours and limited progress, baby simply wasn't staying down after each contraction and push, and there were some small decelerations, so we elected for a repeat caesarean. I don't have time to write it all now, but although this birth ended up being very similar in terms of progress/final delivery outcome, I can't tell you how very different it was in every other way:
i.e. 1) I was completely in control and up to the epidural for the Caesarean, had only tens/pool for pain relief
2) the caesarean was a calm, and honestly joyful experience - a birth, not an operation. This was mostly because my MW helped manage the environment - we played a piece of my favourite music throughout - my son was brought and placed on my chest straight away and breastfed - my 'recovery room' was the amenity room we'd booked, and my husband and our 2 MWs were in there celebrating! (OK - so I was flat on my back & couldn't drink the champagne!)
So, back home now after 3 days in hospital, and all's well! More soon - got to go - feeding time!

oxocube · 08/08/2002 18:10

Oh, Mo1-2, that is such a relief, I was getting quite worried about you! Amazing that yours arrived the same day as Malmomum's - mumsnet twins!

Loads of congratulations, so glad the experience was enjoyable (?) despite surgical intervention - hope you are all enjoying yourselves and each other! (Bad luck about the champagne - can you have some now or would it cause havoc with nappies?)

SueDonim · 08/08/2002 20:32

Congratulations, MotherofTWO!!

musica · 08/08/2002 20:34

Congratulations M-of-2 AND Malmomum - you both sound really happy!

WideWebWitch · 08/08/2002 20:56

Congratulations motheroftwo, I was worrying about not hearing from you too - great to know all is well. Well done.
