I hope no-one thinks this thread is too 'exclusive' or 'cliquey', but I can no longer join in with the weight loss thread, so I thought I would start this one up!

I wish I had had the benefit of the internet (and especially Mumsnet, of course!) first time around and felt pretty isolated after ds was born, so it's good to have some 'virtual' friends in the same boat now I'm expecting no 2.

It would be interesting as well to find out just how many of us are pregnant, there must be loads of us! and just to have a general chinwag.

No news here yet I'm afraid! Off for a (longish) walk to the pub with dh at lunchtime though...
(And then thought I'd do my self-assessment tax return this afternoon - if I can't entice it out with exercise I'll 'bore it out' )!!
GRMum - why on earth would you be a bit envious?? I'd rather be on the beach !! (But not in a bikini with this belly!)

MalmoMum · 24/07/2002 10:26

Goodness Mopsy! Nice to hear about the non-pain bit but not too sure that I've got the support around if it is the real thing.

Dh has just driven off to Copenhagen to drop my mother at the airport and then go to a meeting. So he's about an hour away, as is the midwife.

Don't think this is it yet but thought it might be a progression. Lost my timings a bit saying goodbye to my mother.

MotherofOne · 24/07/2002 10:34

Wow Mopsy - sounds like the sort of labour I fantasise about!

MalmoMum · 24/07/2002 10:58

Ds has gone to sleep so I'm off for a bit of Kill or Cure: a warm bath with some clary sage oil and a cup of RLT.

The bath stopped the tightenings on Monday night. Have become such a woman obsessed I can't work out the difference between a tightening and the normal feel of my tummy these days.

Actually now is the only time I would be happy in a bikini, at least my stomach is tight! Have a nice lunch Motherofone.

ScummyMummy · 24/07/2002 12:28

Very very best of luck me dearios! It's so fab when the time draws near for mumsnet babies! I hope everything goes brilliantly for both of you.

leander · 24/07/2002 12:31

Good luck to both of you love Lxx

PamT · 24/07/2002 14:55

Malmomum has been in that bath a long time, I hope she has some good news for us next time she posts.

janh · 24/07/2002 15:10

Thinking of both of you, best of luck!!! (Wouldn't it be nice if they both arrived on the same day!)

MalmoMum · 24/07/2002 17:55

Nothing interesting to report. Have been tightening fairly constantly all afternoon but it's dropping off again. Off to celebrate our neighbours' engagement later on so won't be wearing something that matches a TENS machine.

However, ds's chosen date draws closer.

GRMUM · 24/07/2002 19:10

I'm just envious because mine are all older now and I'm well past the baby stage. We did actually talk about having a 4th a few weeks ago but it was really just a "wouldn't it be nice" sort of conversation as I'm too old really to have another.Thinking of you both ...

MotherofOne · 24/07/2002 19:28

Nope - nothing to report here either! Managed what seemed a fairly strenous (well in my current state at least!) 3 mile round trip walk to pub and back for lunch which I thought might make it drop out, instead of which I just feel knackered!
Oh well - there's still that full moon tonight - who knows!!

Demented · 24/07/2002 20:03

All the best to everyone waiting to pop! Look forward to hearing your happy news!

janh · 24/07/2002 21:13

GRMUM - how old do you think is too old? (Just curious...had my 4th at 42!)
Mo1-2 and Malmomum - fingers still crossed!

FrancesJ · 24/07/2002 22:21

Good Luck with full moon - have fingers crossed for both of you. Wow - exciting thread, this one

Mopsy · 24/07/2002 22:45

Good luck both of you, looking forward to hearing good news soon Mx

GRMUM · 25/07/2002 05:43

janh I'm 46 now and don't wish to push things too much -I had 3 problem free pregnancies and i have 3 healthy children.I know I'm very lucky.
Good luck girls !!!

MalmoMum · 25/07/2002 07:25

Well, it seemed like a good idea to go partying until 1.30 am. Mr Bollinger was well represented there along with the Old Widow, Veuve Cliquot (didn't think things like that happened in Sweden).

Ds woke at 5am and came in and nursed so got some twinges like after pains and that was that. Got him back to bed until 6.45 and have cooked breakfast, sorted the dishwasher and have a second load of laundry to put on in a minute. Luckily someone is coming around at 10am to take ds for a walk so I will crash then.

I don't want to wear out the messages of support but it very nice to be able to witter on that nothing has changed. I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and my waters had gone by this stage last time.

MotherofOne · 25/07/2002 10:30

Humpf! So much for the full moon theory then.... still here, with baby inside, not out yet!
Had a TERRIBLE night's sleep though with what felt like very early labour off and on all night -was awake from 2am to 5 am thinking is it, isn't it? But it all frittered away to nothing.
So am completely pooped this a.m. - think I'd sleep through contractions if they started now!
Also got a birth announcement card in the post this a.m. from friend abroad who was due one week before me, which didn't cheer me up much...
Thanks for all the continued support - it really helps...
(Still)Motherofone xx

janh · 25/07/2002 21:26

GRMUM, I understand exactly how you feel, and babies are awfully hard work even when you are young and they are healthy. Wiser to stick.

(Mind you, look at Patricia Hodge! She had first at, I think, 45 and second at 48??? Something like that. I bet she had a whole barrage of tests though. And nannies and whatnot.)

janh · 25/07/2002 21:27

By the way, meant to say, are you or DH or both Greek, or do you just live there? And which bit do you live in? Must be fun!

GRMUM · 26/07/2002 05:15

janh i'm english,he's greek. We live 30 kms outside of athens. On the whole its a very good life -especially if you have a family although (like anywhere) there are some things that can drive you bonkers!!!

MalmoMum · 26/07/2002 21:21

Nothing has been happening this end either so I've banned myself from logging ono Mumsnet for a day and a half. I was hoping something had happened with you Motherofone.

Trying to concentrated on day to day plans so took ds to revisit the nursery he had started at a month before he took a month in bed (and off went my plans to be well rested, hair either groomed or lifted and long lunched). Seeing ds regaining and exploring does not compare with my forest legs. Then took him swimming with dh this pm.

Naught on tv so got the deck of cards out. Second curry since Tuesday.

Just reassuring myself they let you go to 43 weeks here.

MotherofOne · 27/07/2002 13:02

No - Still nothing happening here either! Like you Malmomum, I've been trying to keep off Mumsnet and do compeletely non baby/childcare things. However, I do 'feel' like it's imminent now (famous last words...)
These last few days so easily get to you if you let them I find... but I'm trying to keep all positive and not think about getting to 42 weeks.

MalmoMum · 29/07/2002 23:29

Just wanted to share that the Swedish Name Day names for yesterday were: Botvid and Seved (pronounced Seeweed we think). So good luck to you, Motherofone, if you dropped yesterday. I rather like Botvid but not entitled to it now!

Doing much better than last week. Hope things are OK with you

Loobie · 01/08/2002 18:06

do we think that since we haven't heard from motherofone since saturday there is a chance that she has now become motheroftwo? is so well done and we'll hear from you in due time.
