Open to all elderberry grads and anyone who fits the berry criteria: over 30, 1st to early 2nd trimester(ish) with #1 after trying for a loooong time, and nervous as hell. Come on in for handholding and nub theory!

Merk I am sorry to report that an unexplained bruised fanjo is how my SPD started. I hope yours is something different.

Foodylicious · 12/11/2013 11:27

qaz I have been eating little and often, snacking on fruit, biscuits, bread related products such as scotch pancakes, croissants, crumpets etc. Also go ahead yoghurt bars.
This mostly has me feeling less sick. Was really quite bad for 3 weeks, this last 5 days has been a bit easier. I have been off work, hoping to be back next week.
Really cannot stress the importance of sleep - when I have had really poor sleep I have then had an awful day. I eat something small in bed before I go to sleep and have something ready like a snack bar, wrapped croissant or malt loaf for during the night or first thing. Been helping.
I did go see my doc last week and have some promethazine teoclate. Took the first one last night and don't feel too sick this morning.

Tallyra · 12/11/2013 12:30

thanks kat, the scan went fine. I had a really nice doctor who asked me loads of questions and wouldn't let me leave til we'd asked all our questions. she had a little handheld scan machine, like a portable DVD player.
Baby was moving around a lot, we saw a hand and a leg and a heartbeat. Grin.

qaz foody is about right - little and often, quite often it's junk food that helps. and getting tired makes it worse. just keep drinking. that's the mist important thing. if that gets hard, speak to a doctor.

tallyra so glad scan went well.

Thanks for the advice i try to eat little and often, my diet isn't the best mainly toast and crackers as i find "proper" food hard to stomach. Everything is staying down it just feels like i'm about to puke all the time. Still in a way it is reassuring as i "feel pregnant".

Foodylicious · 12/11/2013 14:11

qaz just eat what you like! I have real problems making myself drink some days so try to eat food with water in them like melon, oranges and soup ( yummy with crumpets!)

Angelina77 · 12/11/2013 15:11

I'm the same qaz, really suffering with constant nausea. My diet now consists of pot noodles, mullerice and pizza. Poor child.

Boomgoestheweasel · 12/11/2013 15:26

Can't help with the morning sickness advice, I escaped that particular delight. Can recommend malt loaf for midnight munchies though Grin

Tally glad scan went well. Oooh, handheld scan machines, now if only they did those on Amazon!

Just finished the second of two days' trust induction programme which was deathly dull. Picked up my uniform ready to start on Thursday - it's like a tent, maternity chic all the way!

Foodylicious · 12/11/2013 15:41

Yay for trust induction boom! they are great aren't they? Wink
Loving the idea of maternity tent, wonder how long before I will need one? I have one huge tunic top that will fit for a good while but the others were quite fitted will be tight with the 5lbs I have put on already.
Hope you have tomorrow off. You must be a bit excited/nervous about starting!

qazxc · 12/11/2013 16:30

right have been to boots and got morning sickness prenatal vitamins and the seasickness armband things, hopefully it will calm things down a bit. Smile

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/11/2013 17:31

tally great news

cavort I had a feeling my bruised fanjo might not be a good thing. What happened to you?

boom rock the tent... Even in maternity trews at work I can not wait to get home each day and put something loose on so I am v jealous of the tent!

Re morning sickness, all I can add is eat what you want/can (multivitamins are your friend through this stage) but choose carefully what you eat based on what things taste like on the way back up - I had a bad experience with an apple which put me off them for weeks! If you need to just lie on the sofa and sleep and groan, do that, its not nice but it will pass

Boomgoestheweasel · 12/11/2013 19:24

Merk sadly the tent is a tunic which also has trousers. Although despite ordering a 14 I seem to have received a 16, so they should be loose as anything and fall down at inopportune moments

Foody I have never been so bored in all my days. I know they have to do it but why employ speakers who specialise in monotone?

Just been yoga-ing, was a bit more strenuous this week and I'm feeling the burn now. Anyone else really thirsty? I must have downed about 12 pints today!

Boomgoestheweasel · 12/11/2013 19:26

Oh, and I've just tried it on. They've just given me the plain size 16, so it's too big now and will shortly be too small. Looks like I'll be sending that back then!

BlindKitty · 12/11/2013 19:37

boom jealous if maternity tent. Out of uniform now I'm in community so got to buy all my own stuff

Boomgoestheweasel · 12/11/2013 21:01

Aaah kat I've just been to yoga too, I love it! If only she did it a bit more frequently, shifts mean I'm going to miss quite a lot of it Sad

Just found out from a very good friend that one of our other (mutual) friends is upset with me because I 'tricked' her by pretending to drink booze before I told her I was pregnant, and that I should have just said I was on antibiotics, and not tried to make her feel stupid by tricking her and then laughing at her behind her back. Ummm...something tells me this is a friendship I can now allow to fizzle out?!

qazxc · 12/11/2013 21:12

merk learnt the hard way after having to puke up a deep pan pizza to make sure that all foods are as barf friendly as possible. Grin

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/11/2013 21:27

Boom yes that would be a friendship I might let slip...

Qaz I haven't eaten weetabix since it came out of my nose!

Foodylicious · 12/11/2013 23:57

I would let that one go too boom. I can't stand it when people make every situation all about them.

So, not vomited until this eve today. Promethazine is working a bit-did non feel sick first thing but quite stoned. Been drowsy pretty much all day and has made me grumpy. Taken another one this eve, hoping the drowsyness wears off.

BlindKitty · 13/11/2013 03:19

foody do you think it's safe to take the promethazine at work? Just wouldn't want you to make a drug error or something if you're so drousy

boom wtf re your 'friend'?! She clearly has no idea what it's like to worry in the first trimester

So thought I'd found a stone in my tea last night only to realise it was my filling!!!! Shock thank goodness dh had remembered to post my exemption certificate application..oh no wait, he forgot Hmm. Has anyone else claimed anything back once they got their certificate?

CatsCantFlyFast · 13/11/2013 03:35

Blind I have managed free treatment pre certificate... Just tell them you are awaiting certificate to arrive and you can instead give your due date and some other details. I think having your maternity notes with you helps

BelissimaLol · 13/11/2013 07:26

Boom, sadly losing friendships can wl be a pregnancy symptom Hmm. My best friend of over 20 years hardly spoke to me during my pregnancy cause she doesn't like kids. We're only just talking again but it will never be the same. Had she not been such a special friend I would have let her go too!!!
Good news on sickness easing off too.
Oh and merk how's the farting going GrinGrin ? I had that too and still do

Thundercatsarego · 13/11/2013 08:00

Hi all,

Been lying low over here but all ok.

foody glad you're feeling a bit better. boom exciting about uniform but wtaf with that 'friend'?!
