Open to all elderberry grads and anyone who fits the berry criteria: over 30, 1st to early 2nd trimester(ish) with #1 after trying for a loooong time, and nervous as hell. Come on in for handholding and nub theory!

Thunder cross post... I just posted for you on fb! Hope you're ok

Thundercatsarego · 13/11/2013 08:58

Ha! Just saw that merk, thank you for asking. Yes I'm ok, I have been feeling the fear a bit over the last week or so, which made me go into hiding. Brave eh?!

Boomgoestheweasel · 13/11/2013 09:00

Oooh hello thunderpants, good to see you! When do you go on your jollies? Friend is a definite nut job, think contact may mysteriously dwindle!

merk I has got the trumps. After 6 years together, mr boom has only heard me fart once (and that was a helpless-with-laughter accident) and I'm now giving myself trapped wind trying to hold them in in front of him! Shall I lose my air of mystery forever and just let them out??

Right, last day of leisure before actually being a real midwife eeeek! Off for a dog yomp, then going to try and sort out my uniform...looks like I'll be in scrubs on Thursday!

CatsCantFlyFast · 13/11/2013 09:22

Boom I don't fart in front of DH either. However I think but am scrubbing this from memory I may have let one slip whilst dozing on him on the sofa the other night. Other than that I am holding them in (where possible) and letting loose stealthily in the loo or silently. However I think this tactic may start to fail me as the issue is getting worse, I have less ability to hold them in and they are getting noisier. I have no advice. I've gone from somebody who basically never farted to the equivalent of a wind section in a band and I don't know what to do! However I do feel better now that I am not the only person affected by this Grin

CatsCantFlyFast · 13/11/2013 09:24

thunder what kind of fear? I have a new fear as if dawns on me I am going to have an actual other person to look after!

boom enjoy your last day of freedom. But also, how exciting to start your job at last assuming they don't sack you for farting on everyone! Remind me again, you're going on 'the ward' aren't you? What does that mean you will be doing exactly?

Thundercatsarego · 13/11/2013 09:35

Goodness me ladies- you are so proper! I've been trumping in front of DH for years now- it's just the way it is. Careful you don't do yourselves a mischief holding it in.

merk the fear is now that if it goes wrong at this point I'm going to have to deliver the little one and that just gives me nightmares. Doing another erpc in the early stages would have been bad enough but now actual delivery?

Jollies next week boom Grin

Angelina77 · 13/11/2013 09:46

Boom I've been advised that being pregnant means gradually losing your dignity so that by the time you give birth you can happily do a poo in a room full of strangers and not care. My first shame is having to let out massive burps to avoid being sick. The farts are starting now too, since I've been taking Lactulose. BF says he still loves me though.

CatsCantFlyFast · 13/11/2013 09:48

Hold on Thunder, just a few short weeks and little one should hopefully be one even if (s)he comes v early.

I don't fart in front of anyone if I can help it, its not special treatment for DHGrin however like I said my farts were so few and far between 'twas never an issue til now

CatsCantFlyFast · 13/11/2013 09:48

*be fine not be one

CatsCantFlyFast · 13/11/2013 09:49

angel I've been burping like crazy since about 6 weeks. Luckily DH finds it funny as I could not hold them in!

Tallyra · 13/11/2013 09:52

hugs thunder. that has occurred to me too. a friend lost hers at 20 weeks and the chance it might happen to me is tiny but worries me too. but yesterday's scan helped. are you one of the Doppler crew? I'm not but it sounds like a good idea.

I have never had a problem farting in front of dh. we are both lactose intolerant so sometimes we can't help it. he trumps like a foghorn so I don't see why I should hold back!

Oh god Tallyra that's awful, I was hoping after 12 weeks I could relax but I guess not.

I'm thinking of having another private scan at 10 weeks - does anyone think that's mad?

Boomgoestheweasel · 13/11/2013 10:16

I had a 10 wk private scan after my 7wk scan Angelina. You've gotta do what you've gotta do! And at the gradual erosion of dignity - that's true!

Thunder with a name like yours you'd have to be a shameless trumper! I'm not much of a lady, I burp without thinking in front of him, but he found that one fart SO FUNNY and still teases me about it that I don't think I can cope with the general hilarity if I were to start guffing full time!

I don't think it's possible to stop worrying completely at any point am personally cacking it about 20 wk scan but the odds are now stacked against anything going wrong. Are the wriggles reassuring you at all?

Foodylicious · 13/11/2013 11:38

kitty I am still off work, have occy health appt on Friday. I have read that the drowsy feeling wears off for some people, hoping I am one if them. Bummer really, only taking them in effort to get back to work.

Ha ha at stealth farting. I am afriad I am too much of a lady to just let it go either, really wish I wasn't but can't change just yet.

Thundercatsarego · 13/11/2013 11:51

boom yes the wiggles are absolutely great. I love them -and then worry instantly when I haven't felt them for a while so they are both reassuring and counter productive really.

I feel like a total animal with the farting now! No one else gets the privilege of my wind but I'm afraid I'm just not prepared or able to hold em in when I'm in my own home! I'm clearly disgusting.

Thanks for the hug tally. Great news on your scan btw!

Tallyra · 13/11/2013 12:26

foody, I really don't understand why they have given you promethazine when that is a sedative. If you can't get used to it I'd ask about metoclopramide. that doesn't make you so sleepy. or domperidone maybe. it's never been a first choice drug for my doctors or consultants, only a night time sleep helper. I think cyclizine is also sleepy but you get used to that one.

I'm loving the fart chat GrinGrin. Feel right at home now! I don't usually fart in front of anyone either but did let a few slip in front of dh while pg.
There was a particularly embarrassing moment when he came to bed and said "wow you've been farting away haven't you!!! The room stinks " Grin

Foodylicious · 13/11/2013 12:47

I know Tally, I said so to the doctor at the time ( we use it at work as a sedative/gentle anxiolitic!) but she insisted it was one of the less sedating ones and I didn't want to get into an argument. I figured I would give it a go for a few days and go back if its not for me.
The label on the box says " Warning this medicine may make you sleepy. If this happens, do not drive or use tools or machines. Do not drink alcohol"
Kind of made me laugh, does this mean i cannot use a screwdriver, hammer or washing machine?? (they usually just say do not operate machinery).
Where do you work tally?? I cant remember

Boomgoestheweasel · 13/11/2013 14:42

kat wish mine smelt rosy! I'll join you in 20 week scan paranoia. When's yours?

Jealous of your wriggles thunder(pants) even though I can see that they might induce more terror when they go quiet. Irritated that I'm not getting anything yet despite having double the limbs on board!

Thunderpantsarego · 13/11/2013 15:51
