Open to all elderberry grads and anyone who fits the berry criteria: over 30, 1st to early 2nd trimester(ish) with #1 after trying for a loooong time, and nervous as hell. Come on in for handholding and nub theory!

He doesn't have dementia but he's elderly enough to get away with it Smile. However, did almost get groped by a patient with dementia a few months back. I stupidly didn't notice there was an 'alert' on the system that said he had a track record of it! Fortunately, I can move quickly!

tally you totally deserve to be normal after everything you've been through Brew

Stoooopid drunken dh woke me up snoring, burping, darting and kicking last night. So much for my lie in. Just in spare bed now with the cat, trying for another 40 winks but think I'm too hungry to sleep now!

Morning all

Kitty have they only just found out she's breech? She should have been offered ECV (external cephalic version) where they try and manually turn the baby through abdominal manipulation. It doesn't always work but is generally offered, although usually at 37wks - they might be reluctant at 39 due to size of baby and possible engagement.

There are alternative therapies she could try: google moxibustion or osteopathy, both have had reported (although probably not proven, I'm not sure on the exact research) success and the NHS actually offers moxibustion in some trusts.

If the baby doesn't turn, she will be offered a section; she doesn't have to have one and can choose breech vaginal delivery, obstetricians should be able to deliver breech. There was some very dodgy research done in the early 1990s/2000s called the term breech trial (Hannah et al) which said breech delivery was unsafe and is basically why they started sectioning most breeches; it has been largely discredited by another paper (possibly Glezerman?? long time since I wrote the essay) so worth looking into and discussing with the consultant if she wants to try a breech birth.

Sorry, that turned into an essay! Hope it helped a bit...

at the randy old patients!

No lightheadedness here, but so breathless it's ridiculous - struggling massively with the stairs (live in a townhouse) and have to stop to have a gasp at the top!

Morning all - what a lovely shiny new thread! Though can't believe we're on the second page already Confused

I've missed loads, so in no particular order:

tally it's so nice to hear what you're eating - sounds like you've really turned the corner. Sorry to hear you have a cold. I had one a couple of weeks ago, and it did seem to linger longer, especially the cough, as I'm producing so much phlegm anyway (sorry, TMI)

foody yes, 'morning' sickness is definitely weird. There seems to be little rhyme or reason. Just when I think I've got it figured out, something unexpected happens. Thought I was over it last week but then had a total relapse at the weekend. However, have even steadily improving since Weds so hoping now (14 wks) it might be behind me.

On other symptoms, I've been breathless for weeks, so have been walking much more slowly, and having to pause between flights of stairs - embarrassing but necessary.

The worst of it was that our sweet Health & Safety officer at work sat me down when he found out and said that because of the increased risk of fainting, I should be telling someone every time I go to the loo, so that if I collapse, someone can come and find me Shock Needless to say, I haven't been doing that - sometimes that's the only peace and quiet in the day!
OTOH, I'm not having to deal with potential groping at work Wink

DH came back from a work trip to New York this morning, and brought doughnuts all the way from a shop there that we visited in the summer. He's very proud of himself - not so much brownie points as doughnut points Grin

kitty my colleague swears by reflexology after trying everything and then after one session her baby flipped round.
Good luck to all suffering with sickness, you have my sympathies.
Does anyone else have really weird dreams? pg symptom or just my weird brain?

qaz yes! I've been having freakier dreams than normal for months now. quite disturbing ones sometimes like people getting killed or chasing me (that's normal but it's weirder than that now). I've heard the dream thing is normal though.

I'm so jealous of the lolly...

MIL is driving me potty this morning, she's trying to help me tidy the kitchen after dinner last night but instead is in my way constantly. She's a nice lady but I just don't like sharing my space! Luckily Mr Boom has taken her with him to walk the dogs round the reservoir so I have a couple of hours peace and quiet....aaaah before working all afternoon/evening

Got my allocation for my new job, I'll be starting on antenatal ward which is the best possible place really: not as manic as delivery suite and no back-breaking breastfeeding support on postnatal. I still haven't got my contract but have been asked to go in to sort out a few bits and order my uniform etc...I'm going to have to tell them, if only because I'll need to order maternity uniform! Sure they can't withdraw the offer now so no reason not to I suppose..someone reassure me that it's not silly to tell them before a contract's been signed..

they surely can't change their minds now. you are going to have to yell them soon before they notice by themselves...
