Hi everyone,

This thread is for all you incessant worriers out there, not necessarily limited to IVF-ers, although I get the feeling the people who have had trouble TTC are more prone to worrying than others!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Stupid fucking phond, sorry. Sorry for radio silence, spend most of time skipping between Nancy's bedside and Thea and Pearl in the flat and didnt want to piss on anyones xmas. Xmas eve was when all this kicked off and it hasnt really progressed. Do you ever think people with fertility problems just get more shit? It feels endless at the moment. Anyway, enough moping. I am actually hoping something will change and one day I will have my Nancypants back. One day!
Noks, sneeze that, baby out and cheer me up will you love? Love to all, thanks for all your well wishes, they really do help in the wee small hrs, I can just barely ever reply on my phone!x

OnionRing · 29/12/2013 09:39

Sage and Onion?

shazza, don't panic. Ringlets poos were often green, more often green than the normal mustard I'd say. She was colicky too and I think she WAS getting too much fore milk, (despite that theory being outdated) mostly because her feeding was so erratic. My GP also said don't worry if no other symptoms but it is worrying, although it never stopped her gaining weight or anything, other than indigestion of sorts. I noticed that if I forced her to stay on on breast even for several of her micro feeds in a row her poo went more yellow, you could try that? Seriously, try not to worry though. With Ringlet it only settled when I weaned her! It seems some babies poo green the whole time and some only occasionally. (It used to drive me mad as DH used to comment on it every time he changed her nappy, as in 'that's not right' which was awful.)

I too would want to stay with my mum, I'm afraid your DP has some readjusting to do still, you and the baby just have to come first while she's so little and you're still vulnerable. Reassure him it won't be forever and things will eventually get easier. My DH thinks we'll never spend an evening together have sex again. Mine has reached a stage of weary resignation (this is where you need to get him to!) We are going a bit mad as Ringlet will still only sleep in our bed and DH is keen to try controlled crying again, whereas I am saying wait a couple more weeks until she's 9 months as I don't want to keep traumatising her. Plus she keeps getting up at 4.30am which is making us both snappy and irritable due to even more tiredness. Parenting seems full of these disagreements and negotiations! My mantra is This Too Shall Pass.

If either of mine are unwell I either sit up with them or bring them in with me. It's perfectly natural (if exhausting, but parenting is mostly exhausting). I hope you feel better today anyway. Puffy eyes from crying are ghastly, I get them very badly.

noks! gah, so we were all a bit over excited. Nevermind, you sound chipper and I doubt the midwife will do much tomorrow anyway. Time to start the curry, sex, pineapple antics...

Hello fairy I hope you all had a good Christmas. Was DS giddy?

I'm off to see Frozen at the cinema today with DD1. She's never been before and is hideously overexcited at the thought of a new Disney princess. I'm just hoping for a cup of tea and a sit down.

chocolocodowninacapulco · 29/12/2013 10:07

crisps so sorry to hear about the horrendous time you are having still. Sending hugs x

fairypangolin · 29/12/2013 10:34

crisps that sounds so terrifying but I hope having your other 2 DD helps to get you through. Poor little Nancy. Love to you all.

OnionRing · 29/12/2013 12:52

crisps sorry - we cross posted. I am so sorry things are so grim. I am thinking of you all and hope she improves, poor darling. I do think that some people seem to get a lifetimes bad luck all in one go. Much love to you, x.

Shazzamattazzerly · 29/12/2013 12:52

Oh Crisps that is terrible. I understand but you never have to worry about telling us. We are all here to support you as best we can. I wish we could do more. I'm praying that nancy makes a swift recovery.

Onion thanks for the reassurance. She seems ok in herself so hopefully the poos will right themselves. I'm just so grateful that there is nothing serious wrong with her. I can't imagine what crisps is going through.

Nokkie73 · 29/12/2013 13:25

crispy I echo what the others have said. You should come on here as much as you need to - we want to support you through all this. You don't deserve any of this to happen to you or N. Life can be so fecking unjust sometimes. I will have a stern word with the nipper and demand that it comes out , just for you. Xx

shazza sometimes DP's don't realise that their whole world has changed now there's more than two of you to consider. I'm sure he'll accept the decision you have made, sure enough. I am relieved that you aren't going up norf as I thought it was a bit ambitious, given you've just had a baby ! Try to hold onto the fact that Nora seems chipper, despite her toxic poos. I keep telling myself that in 13 days time, I will have my baby in my arms. My head bends sidewards every time I think about it ! I really don't mind having a sweep. I just don't want it done by someone with massive shovel hands Grin. I had a look at the various steps if the nipper shows no sign of shifting at 41 weeks, and really don't want to get to the induction with drugs stage, so if a bit of a root around the foof by a sympathetic midwife will help to avoid that then bring it on. Talking of which, does anyone have a spare pair of shears As Head of the Order of the Yoni, I really ought to lead by example.

good mother onion I hope you enjoy the cinema. We went to see The Hobbit the other day. It was £6.70 for a small and a medium popcorn. As DP remarked to the couldn't care less teenager serving us, 'at least Dick Turpin wore a mask when he robbed people'. He trots out this line every time we get popcorn at the cinema. I wouldn't mind - I bloody well paid for it.

Hello to everyone else. How are we all doing today ? It's a lovely day down here.

ceara · 29/12/2013 14:16

crisps I'm so sorry Nancy is still so poorly and that you are all going through this. As others have said, it's incredibly unfair and I wish there was something we could do. Thinking of you all.

shazz glad to hear you are staying put at your mum's for now - and that you've had some reassurance from others about the evil green poos.

noks so the nipper is going to fashionably late? I hope the stern words from you, and from the midwife tomorrow, gets him/her moving.

Waving to everyone else.

keepitgoing · 29/12/2013 14:19

crisps I'm thinking of you and Nancy. how awful. I hope she picks up soon

keepitgoing · 29/12/2013 14:21

also, I'm loving all the reflections of the past year. and here's to 2014. to babies, to health, and to sleep!

Dildals · 29/12/2013 16:32

crisps I have been thinking of you over christmas. We went for a walk on Boxing Day and passed the hospital where we spent seven weeks and spared a thought for the parents spending christmas on the ward. I can't help to feel involved because I know how awful it feels. There's not much more I can say to support apart from 'hang in there' but I know you will. As I said before (in PM) you sort of get on with it, don't you. There was one moment where I did lose the will to go but that was at the very end where the doctors got my hopes up on leaving which turned out to be based on nothing. I hope Nancy recovers either miraculously or slowly and steadily, either is good. Let me know if you get transferred to a London hospital (should they be the ones that can do this bypass thing) then I'll come and bring you a cuppa and a slice of carrot cake. xxx

Nokkie73 · 29/12/2013 17:03

Ditto what dilly said crisps. If you do have to come anywhere near London, we shall shower you with tea, coffee, wine, vodka and cake. Whatever you need. We are thinking of you all. Xx

OnionRing · 29/12/2013 20:30

N

OnionRing · 29/12/2013 20:39

Gah! Fucking phone. Yes please post as much as helps crisps.

noks, £20 for 2 tickets and two small ice creams. It was pretty good though and DD1 loved it although spent most of the film on my knee, but it's ages since we had a long cuddle so I didn't mind at all. I even cried at the end as it was all about sisterly love (I am so embarrassingly sentimental.) I spend a lot of time bickering with my sisters so have no idea why I got all sentimental, hadn't even had a drink.

Ginestas · 29/12/2013 21:23

Just wanted to offer crisps some big hugs. I'm so sorry Nancy is still poorly and have been thinking of you all. Lots of love xx

keepitgoing · 29/12/2013 21:58

crisps I will be back in Birmingham from the 1st should you go there. if you do then please let me know xx

MotorcycleMama · 30/12/2013 07:52

crisps I am sorry to hear how poorly Nancy is, and hope she turns a corner really soon. Thanks for updating us, and never ever worry about putting a downer on things here - we are here to support in good times and bad.

nokkie I hadn't realised that your due date was only yesterday, so really it is only early days for you, and Nokkolita will arrive in her own good time. Hope your midwife appt goes well today - keep us updated!

shazza how are shazlett's poos now? You must stay wherever you feel most comfortable looking after your baby, as goodness knows you are new to this and should take advantage of motherly support. Any conflict with DH will soon blow over I'm sure.

We returned home yesterday, and it is so lovely to be back! I have been looking at cottages to rent in North Yorks for next Christmas so that we can be in driving distance of our two families, and have a bolt-hole to escape to at the end of the day.

My stool sample (yuk - sorry!) is all ready to be dropped at the GP surgery as soon as they open, to test for listeriosis. I'm not particularly concerned, but pleased to be able to have the test for peace of mind.

Off to see the All Is Lost with DH later and then go on for something to eat. He wants to see The Hobbit but I am quite certain that I would not be able to sit comfortably for nearly 3 hours, so will have to wait to see on DVD.

Shazzamattazzerly · 30/12/2013 14:14

Hello ladies

Crisps how are things today? I'll be with the London crew if you need us. Thinking of you, nancy and your family. Xx

Motor I hope that your poo is fine Smile. Did you enjoy the film?

Noks how are you today? I also need to tend to the lady garden. I've got no excuses now that I can get down there. I suppose I should anticipate getting back on the horse sooner or later Wink

On that subject (tmi alert) I haven't finished bleeding yet. Everytime I think it's stopped it starts again. It has been just over 5 weeks. Should it be finished soon?

I hope that you are all gearing up for new year. Resolutions anyone? I love new year. I'm always full of optimism.

I'm about to go to the drs at my mums. Not for shazlett this time but my scar has become very red and tender. Bugger!

OnionRing · 30/12/2013 17:49

Oof, hope your scar is ok Shazz. Mine kind of came and went with inflammation, but settled eventually, now it is barely visible. Same with the bleeding, it was about 8 weeks I think before it stopped completely.

New Year resolutions... Get baby to sleep in cot? That's all I can think of at the moment. Need to do some exercise and also ensure I have some free time once a week / fortnight / maybe once a month is more reasonable. What about everyone else?

keepitgoing · 30/12/2013 18:44

my bleeding stopped at 3 weeks, but I think up to 6 is expected. hope your scar's OK.

new year's resolution? restart exercise. try and spend some time with husband sans baby. sort naps so I can sleep in the day

where is noks! and buzzy and ceara not long for you either

big hugs to crisps, Nancy and family

Nokkie73 · 30/12/2013 19:31

I am here keep ! Still bloody WAITING !

The nipper's head is not engaged at all. The midwife doesn't think it will engage until I am in labour so I'm not going to worry about it too much. If nothing has happened before next Monday, I am going to have a sweep. If nothing happens after then, I will be booked-in for an induction a couple of days after. So, in the meantime, I shall start on the raspberry leaf tea and pineapple. Seksi time is something only dreams are made of in my house right now Grin

shazza I hope your trip to the quacks was ok. How have Shazlett's poos been today ?

motor I also hope your poop is ok ! I love, going home after being out and about over Christmas. I normally have to make one trip to the northern badlands because that's where DP is from. Luckily. This year, we have been able to stay at home which has been fab.

mother onions whaddafeckingripoff for cinema tickets and ice creams. At least you and DD1 enjoyed your time together though. That's worth all the money in the world.

My New Years resolution is to have this blooming child ! After that, it will be to stop my arse from having it's own gravitational pull and lay off the cakeage. Oh and to get out and about with the bambino. And to enjoy my maternity leave. And to keep smiling Grin

fairypangolin · 30/12/2013 20:14

shazza I had lochia for about 6 wks after my EMCS with DS but only for 3 this time. I think if you have had surgery on your uterus it must take longer to heal. I also got a staph infection in my CS incision - so you have my sympathies.

onion DS was relatively bearable over Xmas, although he has been v bouncy at times. Luckily DH is v good about taking him out for bike rides and playground trips and we have also been on a number of walks. The key with him is to ensure a minimum of 2 hours' physical exertion per day. Glad you and DD1 enjoyed Frozen, I'm sure it will be a special memory for her.

noks knowing that you will have a baby within two weeks but not when or how is a mindbender. I don't think there is any other comparable experience. People would always say "ooh so exciting" etc but that was the last thing I felt, trapped inside a mountain of fecund flesh. I did enjoy putting my fat feet up and playing "bejewelled" on my phone though.

motorglad to hear you are back in your own lair.

My NY resolution is definitely to make it back to pre- preg weight before the summer. I can get by with a v basic wardrobe of enormous tracksuit bottoms and DH's fleeces at the moment but There is no way I am going to buy work/summer holiday clothes in my current size, which is 2 sizes bigger than normal. Sigh.

ceara · 30/12/2013 20:46

crisps thinking of you and Nancy and the rest of your family.

noks the nipper is obviously chilled out and comfortable in there but living on the edge waiting for labour to start doesn't sound much fun. Hope the raspberry leaf tea tastes OK or you are going to need even more cake to chase it down with.

shazz was the GP able to help? No fair having your incision come back and bite you at this stage, hope any problems clear up soon.

motor good luck with the test results. Being back home sounds lovely. We didn't go away anywhere over Christmas but people came to us, and we have just exported the last of our visitors back to their own homes. Love 'em all to bits, but it is so nice to have our house back to ourselves.

buzzy how are you doing? Do you know yet if your placenta has moved up or is it still looking like a c-section will be bestin the circumstances? I am heading for a c-section and we now have a date in 3 weeks time (unless of course the baby has his own ideas in the meantime).

So my new year's resolution is to actually start my maternity leave :-) I had last week off but am working today and tomorrow to get final bits and pieces done. DH is not happy with me :-) But I am looking forward to being properly on leave once 2014 starts.

Meanwhile, I have faced up to washing the babygro mountain (I got lots of NCT sale bargains, and then MIL deluged us with stuff so this child has more outfits than Imelda Marcos had shoes) and have started stocking up the freezer. Hospital bag is up next. I am struggling with what size clothes to pack for the baby, given that my bump is small but the scans indicate Gigantababy (though the professionals' instincts are that the scans are exaggerating and the baby will most likely be average-ish) so I guess we pack a broad selection from his extensive wardrobe and hope for the best. It still feels like tempting fate to be getting this stuff ready, but control-freakery is winning out over superstition so I'm getting there :-)

Dildals · 30/12/2013 21:30

noks you can always piss on our christmas. Or Easter. But we'd prefer it if it weren't necessary.

shazz I can't remember how long I bled but I do remember it going on for a long time! Hope your scar is ok.

NYE's resolutions - losing a bit of weight is definitely up there, she said, while scoffing her own weight in shortbread. Stephen Fry described his shape on telly as 'a bin liner filled with yogurt' ... yep ... that describes it!

I had my eyebrows plucked and tinted, my eyelashes tinted and my nails done. Now at least when I roll out of bed, tired, I look remotely presentable. I have realised now also why I feel I look five years older. I have grown up. I am now all of a sudden someone's mother!

B is having her three month growth spurt, a bit early, I think she's 11 weeks now, but I guess she didn't read the manual. She's been on a 2hrly feeding schedule last night, arghh, actually it's not been too bad. She just eats a lot more and does a lot more napping. She's now started to talk back as well, quite cute. We are having long chats with each other. She seems quite a social baby, she gets all curious when other people are there, and has little chats to strangers as well. She's probably telling them 'see this lady here, she's starving me!' or 'do you have milk?'. On Xmas eve we went up the Shard and B loved looking at all the lights, then I fed her on the 32nd floor. A new high! Today we went to Brighton as a little family outing, we picked the perfect day, sideways rain! But when we got there it actually cleared up. Had a nice pub lunch and B ate too, a nice day was had by all! There was a family sitting at the table next to us and the little boy (about 8-9) was positively intrigued with my boob!

Hope everyone else had a nice christmas!
