Hi everyone,

This thread is for all you incessant worriers out there, not necessarily limited to IVF-ers, although I get the feeling the people who have had trouble TTC are more prone to worrying than others!

niknoks have you had a birthday on the t'other place ?? :)

Thank you ladies I have had 3 reasonable days in a row, although walking to the post office nearly finished me off on Saturday, we now have a cot and pram Grin its a bit bigger than what I would have chosen but the whole lot cost £20, MIL got it all for us, she had loads of other stuff too like blankets etc, she would have given us more but I just couldn't fit the stuff in the car, I'm starting to feel excited now I have the pram :)

hope everyone had a good weekend

buzz I will be 40 (with the mental age of a seven year old) in a couple of weeks time. I was taken out for afternoon tea by my school mates who proceeded to get shitfaced and amuse themselves by using chocolate lollies as fake moustaches. T'was lovely ! I LUFFS them I does.

Buzzybee123 · 27/10/2013 22:15

niknoks Welcome to the other side, what do you have planned for the big day

OP posts:
Nokkie73 · 27/10/2013 22:33

A shit load of vodka and some class A drugs. Oh, um.....I mean a meal with the nitwit and my parents and as much cake as I can eat without being violently sick down my cleavage. Grin

Buzzybee123 · 27/10/2013 23:01

I had my 40th before getting updiffed, it involved me chundering twice Grin I shall eat cake for the occasion too, although I have got a bottle of non alcoholic wine Hmm

OP posts:
Nokkie73 · 27/10/2013 23:08

Will you really eat cake for me buzz ? Grin

You can pour the non-alcoholic wine down the sink though. All the ones I have tried have been monumentally wank.

Gosh, my language is terrible today..

Nokkie73 · 27/10/2013 23:24

buzz how did you wangle a cot and a pram for twenty quid ? That is a proper bargain.

putthecrispsDOWN · 28/10/2013 08:27

buzzy the bargainous! Nice work on the shopping. I am in the market for a mahoosive changing bag at the moment but they are all terribly fashionable an expensive. Good for you for getting excited too. Glad you are feeling a bit better, i have had some good days lately and it makes it all so much more bearable!

foody 8 weeks will be great, double figures lies not far off too!

noks happity birthday for the imminent day, and to shazza too. I am a wee bubba here aged 31 although I moved out when ai was 16, met DH shortly after and was married at 22, and have been fighting stupid infertility ever since so I reckong I'm technically older in life years.

madness huzzah for nearing 12 weeks, it does get a bit easier with time and although the first few weeks creep along slowly, somehow it does all speed up in the middle teens. i'm sure as a few more weeks go by you will start to feel a bit more settled, although feel free to punch everyone in the face who tells you to 'relax and enjoy it' as that used to really wind me up. Its a long road back from all the infertility crap so don't be too hard on yourself!

Newsflash-havent been sick for almost 48 hours now! actually felt half decent this weekend and MiL cooked a roast for us yesterday (first time in years) so have had a nice chilled one. Realised we only have about six weeks left now which feels very odd...many weeks of denial means that a shock will be around the corner I think...

onion I had to think of you this morning, DD had three huge consecutive tantrums because 1) she wanted to go in the shower for a second time and I said no, 2) the pants that she had chosen to wear didnt 'feel right' and 3) (my personal favourite) her cardigan didnt have pockets on. Roll on this x3....

Buzzybee123 · 28/10/2013 09:59

noks your language is always fucking atrocious Grin they were second hand, the lady is a customer of my MIL, MIL obviously chats . . .alot

crisp yay to sick free days and roasts, I might go back this week part time I did Grin at DD's reasons, uncomfy knickers do nothing for my moods

well its blardy windy where I am, sounds like ghosts coming to get me Hmm also the cat is in one foul mood too

keepitgoing · 28/10/2013 10:14

noks i've not had non alcoholic wine... Though it sounds a bit crappy from your description. Whilst in Thailand I liked a good non-alcoholic beer in the sunshine, but back here in the miserable dark it's not quite the same, and my six pack is not getting much love (the beer. I have no abdominal six pack, nor did I ever).

I'm also just 31 crisps, starting trying shortly before turning 29. Why do you say you have only 6 weeks left - are you getting an early induction or c section? Or just assuming that they'll come early. Glad you're feeling a bit better.

madness when's your 12 week scan? I think we've all relaxed a bit after that, though there are still plenty of things you can find to worry about...

beetle do you have weekly scans? How's the spotting? That must be really a head fuck. Hope it settles down soon.

buzzy great if you can go back to work even part time. Must be horrid just lazing around eating cake and watching daytime tv...

mrsH let our countdown to idleness ML begin.

I am considering going swimming as a way of exercising without walking due to my didgy hips. But I never bought a maternity swim suit, as I came back to the UK at 22 weeks and haven't been since. It's not really worth it now, is it? And there's no way i would be decent in my old bikini I suspect - the lady garden has been untended as I cannot see...

Foodylicious · 28/10/2013 10:25

keep if you are not bothered about a mat suit being pretty these are very cheap -www.sportsdirect.com/SearchResults?DescriptionFilter=Maternity%20Swimwear

OnionRing · 28/10/2013 10:30

keep and crisps. You are both so youthful! I think the rest of us are clustered around 40. Obviously none of us either look or feel it.

crisps yes that all sounds hideously familiar. When you're getting it from all three it will merely wash over you. Today DD1 is wearing ALL her jewellery. She looks, erm, decorative.

keep would swimming even be ok with dodgy hips? Could you just buy a cheap larger size one seeing as they're so stretchy?

noks happy birthday but just think how much you can celebrate 41 instead. That's what I'll be doing next year.

buzzy that's a brilliant bargain.

I hope everyone else is ok and not suffering from the wind...

I have a playdate in half an hour with a school gate friend with two girls the same age. I hope this deals with most of the day. I've prepared many craft activities, lunch and have DVDs in reserve with a wall projector DH borrowed from work so they can pretend to be at the cinema. I'm exhausted before they're even here. I have a whole week of this. cries

Buzzybee123 · 28/10/2013 10:48

the non alcoholic wine I have had is ok, depends on where you get it from, I just fancy something for xmas noks I shall happily drink the whole bottle Grin

keep sadly I was too knackered to watch TV, so I just slept, I'm bored so hopefully work will be a decent distraction, I should sort out my washing now though Hmm

Ginestas · 28/10/2013 11:12

Morning all. Thanks to the wind (or rather the fecking useless train companies), I have a day working from home mumsnetting I’m somewhere in the middle of the babas and the fabulous 40s, being 35 (the age of fertility doom). Have been ttc since 31, bah.

Onion Am loving the sound of DD1 in all her bling, like a little mini Big Fat Gypsy wedding girl. Did Ringlet allow you some sleep over the weekend?

Keep I wouldn’t have the energy to swim! Loll about in a Jacuzzi maybe , but actual exercise is def off the cards. I say inflict a bikini on everyone. Ta for the stats list and well worked out/remembered.

beetle congrats on your boys!

buzz hurrah for getting exciting and bargain prams. What kind is it? We have 3 second hand buggies so far! One that is humongous and will go to the grandparents, one super light Maclaren for travelling and one Bugaboo Bee, which I paid for a will be the main one. Fuck knows where we’re going to keep them all. Our kitchen looks a bit like Pram World at the mo! Hope you are still feeling well Buzz, but don’t overdo it by going back to work.

crisps I can’t believe that 48 hours sans vomming is good! You poor thing being so poorly still. Ha ha re DD’s tantrums. Was DD an IVF baby too? I’m not sure I could put myself through it all again and we certainly won't be able to afford any more ivf.

Noks I totes agree re non-alcoholic vino. It’s shite and just reminds me of all the lovely wine I’m missing out on. Happy birthday for when the big day comes. I’m planning to fill my pre-baby mat leave with afternoon teas – yours looked ver lovely on the FB (as did your bump!)

Ooo mad not long til the 12 week scan now. How exciting, although I totally understand the nervousness. I’m terrified before every scan, even when I can feel the baby moving, I’m convinced they’ll tell me it’s all gone wrong.

Aww fairy I love your description of wanting to lie in bed all day with mini P. Sooo cute. I hope all is going well. Need to see a pic!

foody the sickness is a very good sign…

shazz belated happy birthday! Hope you are having a nice big rest now the rents have departed, and started your nesting for Shazzlet’s arrival.

Dildals some super cute pics of Bella on FB in halloween gear.
?
Waves to everyone else.

All ok here. Just feeling knackered all the time and am now getting some rib pain probably from lugging my huge handbag about Am hoping the baby will turn head down and engage soon, giving me some relief from the rib pain and indigestion. We’ve now locked down a name and think we may even have a spelling for it. I’m starting to feel very excited now – only 3 weeks (well 2 weeks & 4.5 days) left at work and now under 7 weeks until due date (I'm 33 and 2).

Does anyone know when a non-head down baby becomes an issue?! This is my latest worry... I don't fancy one of those moving the baby through your skin things.

keepitgoing · 28/10/2013 11:28

gin are you sure she's not head down? Kip is, and I am constantly getting it in the ribs as that's where the little feet are wedged. I read that something like 95% of babies will be head down by 37 weeks, and at 35 weeks there is still time for them to turn, so I'm sure you have plenty of time. I think that they wouldn't worry about it until the 36 week appointment, as they offer the ECV at 37 i think. It might be uncomfortable for her to start twisting around soon though, as they're so big, so I guess you'd notice. Maybe try all the birth ball malarky to try and get her to move before she's too ginormous.

I'm not sure about the benefits of engaging - more room to eat and breath, but more weeing required... At my last appointment, 34 weeks, I was still not engaged at all. But I have been up more in the night recently so maybe am now - next appt isn't for another week.

Buzzybee123 · 28/10/2013 11:30

the cat has finally had a poo so has calmed down Hmm

gin I am bored and have no structure to my day so just want to sleep, I think a few hours work might help, its a Graco not sure which one but it has the whole travel system, rain cover foot muff etc

keep I just figured that everyone at the pool would be so distracted by my gargantuan bump that they wouldn't notice my unkempt bikini line. Or they'd just think I was European or something.

crisps I laughed at your DDs pants complaint. DS went through about 2 years where he had a fetish about his socks having to be absolutely smooth and wrinkle free. He would wail "I can feel the seams!" Like it was some kind of horrendous torture. Ah happy memories.

onion I feel your half term pain. Luckily my mum is still here and DH is working from home this week. Did your DD enjoy her first term?

Shazzamattazzerly · 28/10/2013 18:41

Hello ladies

Grateful as I have been for all the help I'm pleased to report that my Olds have left the building and the flat is no longer a constant hive of activity. Calm returns once more! Now I can get on with catching up on life, returning the 10 messages that I've received and ignored this week and most importantly resuming my place at the pregnant IVF worriers party. Grin

Noks I hope you are feeling better. How was the hospital class? Did DP manage to concentrate for at least most of it. MrS has been brilliant but he insists on stretching out his legs in all the classes so that he is almost slumped and horizontal and then proceeds to yawn throughout. I have to keep nudging him to at least try to cover his mouth and sit up alertly! I hope you have a marvellous birthday. Being 40 is fine. Especially with a baby nicely snug in your belly. Smile

Gin I'm impressed with you being a3 buggy family! And congrats on a name. Am now dying to know what it is.Wink Obviously it has an unusual spelling? I don't think you need to worry about the Ginster not being head down just yet. As someone said, try the birth ball and I stopped sitting/slouching on the sofa and now only sit on the ball, a dining chair or the rocking chair well propped up so that I'm tilted slightly forward. You can also try reflexology or acupuncture if she hasn't turned nearer the time before you resort to ecv or whatever it's called.

Fairy, crisps and onion the stories of your DC1s and their various clothing and jewellery fetishes had me in stitches. Absolutely priceless.

Fairy thanks for the pool tips. We have a tech rehearsal planned for tomorrow morning. I'll take some pimp my pool pics alla MrsH! Skin to skin with Pangolina sounds absolute beautiful. I too would love to know her name please if you get a chance to send a pm Smile

Keep re perineal massage. I've been doing it for about 10 weeks now and getting used to it but I fear that you have confirmed what I already suspected in that I'm not stretching nearly enough. Oh well someone said on the day our bodies will kick the hormones in. I'm not getting any rib kicks. Shazlett is now 3/5 ths engaged (2/5ths palpable) and the bump has definitely dropped. The MW couldn't believe how low she was the other day. Not sure if this means s/he will come early. I'm ready (ish) now anyway. Smile

Buzz glad you can go part time at work. Shame about Bazza missing Nct but at least he has some work right up to d-day. Am in awe of your bargain skills.

Dildals I haven't looked on Fb for a while so will check in to see bella's costume. I bet you all looked great. I love the pic in her bouncer. She really is so adorable. Apparently breastfed babies might go a few days without a poo so that's normal. As long as she is farting well then there is no blockage.

Onion hot milk bra!!!! The marketing men must have had a field day with that one. Well done on the weight loss. And I'm so impressed with obtaining a projector for the play date. I fear you may make a rod for your own back though. Word will spread like wildfire that the play dates at yours are the best in town. Dd1 will be fighting them off!

MrsH it is all getting very real. I've just had a 1:1 Hypno session and feel really calm and excited about it all now. I'm going to ramp up practise over the next week or so and just do loads of relaxation (aka lounging around getting DP to tend to my every whim). How are you feeling?

Foody lovely to hear from you. Feeling sick is a good sign I guess. I admire your resolve re scans. I had 5 before 13 weeks with one thing or another. I opted for the private harmony test so that involved 2 extra scans.

Sweetie sorry about your shoe dilemma although it did make me smile. The thought of you wearing your slippers to work is so sweet.

Crisps congratulations on your long marriage. How lovely. And now after all that time you will have 3 wonderful children. Hurrah for not being sick for a few days. Hopefully that is behind you now.

Madness I have all sorts of hormonal outbursts at DP. I hope mrM realises this is normal and is patient with you.

I hope everyone else is ok and well.

I've got another MW appt tomorrow so we will see if shazlett has wriggled down some more. S/he has been very active today which is reassuring cause she was so quiet on Saturday and I was panicking abit.

I am now pretty convinced that shazlett is of the male variety. Hb was 130 the other day and the bump is all out front. But who knows all bets are still being accepted!

Looking forward to hunkering down with DP tonight. It is the weather to get cosy at home.
Have a good evening everyone. Xx

putthecrispsDOWN · 28/10/2013 19:57

Have really enjoyed my vom free day today, even had a girlie night with Dd1 as DH is out, she wanted a midnight feast bless her so we had lota of maize and back to back peppa pigs!

onion the classy establishment of wilkos is my go to for half term...not sure if it is a northern thing though? They have a million crafty sticky coloury things, I stock up before school hols and they keep DD sane for a good half hour when they are needed. Converse to this morning she has been an angel this evening!

shazza i was terrified of tearing during DD1s labour, it was a big hang up of mine. Tmi coming up..during her labour she was struggling to get out so the doc suggested am episiotomy which I was originally dead against...it was actually painless and not a big deal at all, over im a sec or two amd didnt hurt. I has a few stitches afterwards and although the first post-birth poo was a bit traumatic, i think it always is. Don"'t have any scars or problems now. Dont worry too much about tearing, i think the mws and docs will keep a good eye on things and none of my friends with kids had a problem.

fairy dd is also particular about her socks and tights! Clothes are really the only thing she kicks off about, but she does have an issue almost every soddind morning. Lately she likes her pyjamas to coordinate with her bed linen..lshe is currently sleeping in sheets with little pink hearts on them, wearing a onesie with hearts on and with hearts on her socks too, ffs.

gin hope things move down. There was a rolling cobra pregnancy yoga movement I was shown at laspzy daisy, might be worth a google. I assume you are lready doing frozen peas and torchlight? Left hand twin spins round every few days, i wish she'd stay head down too.

keep I am fat too lazy to actually swim but i do have a size 20 cozzy from matalan that cost about £8, fits fine over the bump and even over the massive flotating boobalons. Being in the water is bliss for my hips too.

OnionRing · 29/10/2013 09:13

Ah the bliss of 90 minutes sleep after having been up since two. Of course I now have a narked DH to contend with but it was that or go delirious through exhaustion. Something has to give here, she is getting worse. She refused all feeds but one yesterday, and then fed all night. I hope none of you get into this ridiculous situation. But despite having breast fed her from birth I still feel guilty about stopping despite the fact she is 6.5 months old. So thanks for that breast feeding lobby, really fucking helpful. I will share this anxiety with you lot as I know it sounds mad, I am aware of all the list of diseases that bf makes less likely, I am convinced I will stop, she will develop one of these and it will be my fault for not feeding her longer. Somebody slap me please!

And relax. shazza I didn't get the projector for half term, it's the kind of thing DH brings home just to clutter up the place. Hope you're managing to do very little, get those feet up and day time tv on.

crisps I love Wilkos but the nearest one is about ten miles away. I do have a huge box of plain craft foam so I can cut shapes out of that. Yesterday we decorated butterflies and glue them to old pegs so that they could 'land' on the curtains.

Gin, scrubbing the floor is supposed to help turn a baby. (Suspects male plot...)

I haven't bought a Halloween costume for either DD as DD1 will only dress up as a princess and dd2 doesn't care either way, but would look mighty cute. I might take them to Primark this afternoon and see what they have. We don't have a party to go to this year but I've said we can have a carved turnip and a special candle lit Halloween tea.

Foodylicious · 29/10/2013 10:40

Oh onion thats really, really rubbish.
No idea what to suggest so consider yourself well and truly slapped Grin
My sister had a night mare BF both of hers - 1st one ended up in hopsital literaly starving at 6 wks old as she really did not produce enough milk. She tried absolutely everything to get him to feed from her as well as having to use formula. She was absolutely guilt ridden the entire time and persued combi feeding for another 4 month despite the fact the she would only express about 20-40 mls in an hour and could only manage that twice a day max. Needless to say she was an exhausted wreck by the time she eventually let herself stop BF. Her little man is now nearly 4 and fine!!!

Her little girl is now 8 months old and she went through exactly the same with her (though without a hosp admission thank God). She felt under soo much pressure to BF that she was actualy restricing the amount of formula to try and 'make'' her have more from her. Needless to say this did not work and we had to have a few conversations about it before she would admit what was going on. Little one was quite underweight. Anyway, the point - she is now 8 months old, big and lively and seemingly none the worse for only getting a little bit of breast milk.

Do you express? would/could you combi feed but give her your milk in a bottle?

Shazzamattazzerly · 29/10/2013 10:49

Oh onion you sound at your wits end. Surely it is better for everyone if you are less stressed and ringlet is more settled and if that means switching to a bottle sometimes then that's ok? Can you express and bottle feed with bf milk or doesn't that make a difference? Forgive my ignorance in these matters if I'm way off mark. Either way ringlet won't get some nasty disease you have already given her so much by BFing for this long.

Crisps I just love these clothing quirks. I was laughing so much last night that DP asked what I was laughing about and I told him about all theDC1 stories. We were both in stitches. So cute. We have it all to come Smile

We are waiting for an ikea delivery before we start the pool trial. MW has cancelled the appt as she has been called to a birth. Once DP goes to the studio this afternoon I'm going to settle down with crochet and iplayer.

Shazzamattazzerly · 29/10/2013 10:51

And crisps thanks for the reassurance re tearing/epi. In the scheme of it all I know it's a minor thing but I have to obsess about something!

OnionRing · 29/10/2013 19:19

Thanks foody I know I'm irrational but I just feel so awful. Shazza she won't take any bottle whether expressed milk or formula. This is the main problem but I don't know what to do. What I think I could do is express and add it to formula so she's still getting something from me longer term. I bought a wider bottle today and DH managed to get 30mls into her. She's so willful though. Anyway, here I am back in bed with her chomping away...

Anyway. Asda have great pumpkins for £2. Ours is called Freddie and he is well scary. We had to eat dinner in the dark with him on the table.
