Hello again - another shiny new thread for the batsh*t crazy women going through the stress and emotional rollercoaster that is being pregnant after a miscarriage.

Fingers crossed for lots of happy scans and boring pregnancies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Sorry, I can't link better, hope the below link works. I gave birth the first time wondering why everyone fussed about birthing plans etc, all that mattered was a healthy baby. But I felt quite different afterwards. This article/research isn't perfect but does make me feel valid in trying to get a good birth experience. I like the authors comments - 16 Oct 2.23pm, click on "Staff replies"
A good birth experience is more than the baby being delivered alive

Baking some interesting info on that website. Everything crossed you get past the 10 weeks.

Chocolateteabag · 17/10/2013 16:00

Hi Polka - not sure about insurers but when I went to Majorca last month (at 28-29 weeks) I made sure I had my EHIC card up to date and had to have a letter from my GP to sign off my travel. They didn't ask for it on the way out (Jet2) but did on the way back - depends on how big your bump is and how "obvious" I guess (scarf on way out must have hidden it)

Just catching up on the thread after another long gap - DS had D&V on Friday night, DH came down with it on Monday and was my turn last night Sad I hate being sick - but even worse was having the runs too - and can only admit it here - but I had an accident in bed Shock while being sick into the bucket. Could only manage to get into shower and wash myself - left mucky pants and pjs by the shower! Bless my DH - but he has rinsed and washed them all this morning - what a complete star (feel quite Blush)

For anyone starting to get hip or pelvic (esp pubic bone) pain - I would realy recommend again getting a Serola back support - they are about £30 on amazon but so so worth it if you can afford it. The support the physio eventually gave me was so crap in comparison.
My SPD is still there but much better after a week of hardly moving on holiday.

Now just need to get over this wretched sick bug - am at the lying around feeling like a washed out rag and just managing lucozade stage.
Baby feels fine - and was kicking me all through being sick (like he thought he was helping)

Hey everyone Smile Struggling to keep up these days!

I've taken the RL capsules to that schedule so far so fingers crossed it works!

Been reading all your thoughts on miscarriage with sadness Hmm My first baby was due today so it's all a bit relevant Hmm I totally went off the rails afterwards and basically got drunk till I got PG again Blush I only really got over it once DS was born and his PG was a nightmare, spent the whole time thinking each day would be the day I lost him. Even tho I had another MC before this PG I have found this time much easier to deal with the worry, but the first was an MMC which I waited to lose naturally and 'laboured' for 10 hours with whereas the second was an early loss so maybe that helped I dunno....anyway I'm rambling...thoughts are with everyone who has lost a baby today xxx

Also reading your birth worries with a heavy heart, I'm getting quite anxious abt it now Hmm Really want to deliver this one myself and exercise the demons if you like but convinced it will end in theatre again and be a total nightmare Hmm

I'll try to end on a positive!....still having loads of Braxton hicks so remaining hopeful it will come early Grin

IBelieveInPink · 17/10/2013 18:43

Shell - exciting that you are still getting lots of Braxton hicks! Mine seem to have stopped. Remind me, did your DS come early? I wonder who will be the first of us to pop.....

I am a bit scared to say this out loud... As I am sure she will move again, but after my rant about baby being breach earlier I think she may have moved! (Literally whispering even in my head in case she hears me...) no doubt she will move back again, seeing as she is a trouble maker!

I am absolutely fricken terrified about the whole birth thing - literally nightmares and not sleeping now. I have no idea how to control it, I guess there isn't a lot to be done really. Ah well.

Polka2 · 17/10/2013 19:17

Thanks chocolate, I'll be 15 wks if everything goes to plan but wondered what insurers don't auto exclude.

She'll a tough poignant day, hope you've had a moment of reflection with your OH then eaten lots of cake (poor substitute for wine I know!)

SnotMyProblem · 17/10/2013 20:05

Polka, seconding what Chocolate said about up-to-date EHIC cards and the like, but check the policy wording (you can usually check them online before you buy). Many of the ones I've seen cover pregnancy up to a certain number of weeks anyway, or at least it's not been 'notifiable'. I think it's after 28 or so that the insurers start to get cagey.

Shell, I'm sorry you've had a bad day. My thoughts are with you, too.

SaggyIsHavingAPinkKitten · 17/10/2013 20:27

Bleurgh! Ive been out with my sisters today. Costa coffee, All you can eat chinese, a romp round toys r us and then we took my neice to ride one of our ponies. I am currently collolopsed on the sofa with my trousers undone!
im knackered!
ir was fun though. One of my sisters gave me some tiny white knitted top UGG boots for Ryvita. They are sooooo cute! Grin

SaggyIsHavingAPinkKitten · 17/10/2013 20:34

Now, look here all of you girls who are worried about birth.
You can all do this, a trillion and one women have done it in the past, some of you have done it before. Its what our bodies are designed for. Its an ordeal, but remember, nothing worth waiting for comes easy!
Its a few hours of discomfort to get to our ultimate goal, our lovely squidgy babies.
Itll be ok. Youll be ok. We can all do this. x
{{{{hugs}}}}

Slightly patronising pep talk over. As you were. x Grin

Bodicea · 17/10/2013 21:26

Polka I always get my travel insurance from staysure . They specialise in over 50's so they basically are happy to insure you for almost anything - compared to most of customers you are v v low risk. I travelled having had erpc and while on clexane with them and they were totally fine about it.

shellsocks · 17/10/2013 21:52

Thanks for the well wishes everyone, I'm ok it's just one of them days that make you look back at what you went through, but also makes me appreciate what I've got Smile

Hey pink unfortunately not! he was 12 days late Sad Great news that your baby seems to have moved, fingers crossed she stays that way now Smile

saggy I said the same when deciding to TTC number 2, but I said its only a few days of total agony, rather than hours of discomfort....but the sentiment was the same Wink

ChristineDaae · 17/10/2013 21:58

Ibip - fingers crossed it is what you think (I won't say in case she hears you reading my comment in your head!)
Shell, what a rubbish day. Hope you had support.
Saggy glad to hear the good news, and I'm sure your fanjo isn't truck worthy (or at least only a small truck Wink)
Friend at work came back today. Actually came and asked me if I minded chatting to her about it so we went into one of the offices. None if her female family have been through it and think she just wanted to talk to someone who had been there. Fingers crossed she is pregnant again soon as I know that's what she wants

fod27 · 17/10/2013 22:57

saggy I'm so glad you've had a lovely day! I really enjoy reading your posts and they are getting full of posifrickintivity with each day.... Keep it up xxxx

SaggyIsHavingAPinkKitten · 17/10/2013 23:06

Thank you. Im feeling a little more positive each day. Smile

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 17/10/2013 23:16

Hi ladies, I'm really sorry I know so many of you have bigger problems going on, if you have a minuite can you take a look at this and just tell me to snap out of it or to go and get some sort of help.

SaggyIsHavingAPinkKitten · 17/10/2013 23:29

ive commented honey. I dont think you arw being daft at all. Like I said over on that thread, see a GP. Tell them everything and be firm. xx

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 17/10/2013 23:42

Thank you, its good to know people don't think I'm being daft! Dr in the morning for me I think. Thanks Smile

jmf294 · 18/10/2013 07:38

Cbeebies- just seen your other post , definitely agree to get yourself to your GP.
It could be high blood sugars making you feel like that. The GP should easily be able to do a GTT. You could even do it yourself as blood testing kits are cheap in boots , you need to drink around 200mls of fresh juice or lucozade and then blood test 1 and 2 hours afterwards but best let the GP do it. It wouldn't be gestational diabetes this early I don't think but it's possible at any age to develop type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
Christine- great that you could support your colleague, hope she is lucky soon.
Interesting reading about the hypnobirthing, I had a c-sec last time but I used relaxation and visualisation whilst they did the spinal anesthetic which really helped as it can be a bit uncomfortable, it really helped and I was on a lovely beach in the Indian Ocean instead of the operating theatre.
Have a good day all, another weekend almost here- I have 6 days left at work- can't believe it!!

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 18/10/2013 08:17

Jmf, thanks I'll be buyin a kit. It could be GD this early, it's not uncommon if you've had GD before, but I don't know if I had it before Confused I'll be getting a kit ASAP then phoning gp and mw if there's a problem.

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 18/10/2013 08:50

Cbeebies I'm sending you a big hug. Im of the opinion that we know our own bodies better than anyone so we just know when something isn't right or if there's some sort of imbalance. The fact that the midwife brushed you off seems shocking IMO. Definitely get thee to your gp pronto, hopefully they are more sympathetic and competent to help you xxx

I'm off to my scan this morning, hope I get the funny Spanish consultant again. Still have scan doom though

IBelieveInPink · 18/10/2013 08:56

A scan Janie? That's exciting (less scan doom now than earlier) I remember you saying you had one but can't remember why? I REALLY want another scan -(in case I haven't mentioned that 50 million times already).

Cbeebies- another one here for trusting instincts. But sound like you are already doing that :)

andthepiggotupandslowlywalkeda · 18/10/2013 09:07

I've name changed from snotmyproblem, if by any chance anyone is wondering who andthepig is!

Cbeebies, defo get second opinion. I've never had GD so can't comment, but you know your own body, as everyone has said.

Janie, good luck with your scan.

Can I have some good thoughts here please as well - 12 week scan this afternoon. I don't feel too worried at the moment, which is worrying me! I think it's all going to erupt 10 minutes before the scan, and I'll suddenly go from fairly calm to blubbering mess.

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 18/10/2013 09:41

yes pink...i don't really know why either if i'm honest! but i wasn't going to say no! i had one at 30 weeks (dunno why) and he asked me to come back today at 35 weeks but still none the wiser as to why! maybe my hospital are just super wonderful or something?! i want to ask for a picture this time as it'll probably be the last chance...although i'm guessing it'll be pretty unclear as the wee mite is probably squished into crazy shapes.

good luck with your scan pig/snot! don't forget to wear your lucky socks :) xxxx

one more week of work to go yissssss!!!!!

andthepiggotupandslowlywalkeda · 18/10/2013 09:46

Thanks Janie, I have stripy socks on today - stripes are always a good thing!
Thinking of you as well today, and presumably your lucky socks also!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 18/10/2013 10:49

Thanks pig Smile all good here, baby currently weighing in at 5lb3oz eek!

I asked the pretty horrid doctor what were her thoughts on raspberry leaf and she said she'd never heard of it. Think she needed a bit of a personality transplant too!
