I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

I used to include extracts from MOH's wonderful website
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
but I think that makes this link less visible so am merely putting the link. The information on this site is invaluable for sufferers, with information about medications, coping strategies, hospital admissions, useful links, advice for family members, and much more.

I would like to thank MOH and Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

Ooh my fish was nice and my peas were really salty. Can't believe how much my stomach must have shrank though. Could only eat half of the fish and only a couple mouthfuls of peas. At one time I would have devoured the whole piece with a huge pile of chips!

Totesamazeballs · 06/09/2013 19:36

Fee! A boy!! I am a fan of boys. I felt the same as you when we went for a gender scan with DS. I was shocked and have no brothers or close male friends so I guess I lived in a female dominated world. The thought of a boy scared me, but they are so affectionate and once you nail the whole peeing while the nappy is off which doesn't happen often, you are sorted!

Meerka, I feel very cautious because of a previous MMC before DS and the fact that I am on progesterone until 13 weeks which would firstly mask any early miscarriage and secondly I am worried about miscarrying when I come off it. I also wasn't taking folic acid because I wasn't expecting to fall.

Anyway, funnily enough one of the few foods I have fancied this last week has been white fish in batter and breadcrumbs. I manage 3 fish fingers every lunch and then cod in breadcrumbs in the eve. At least it's healthyish...

Actually I could murder fish shop fish in batter and maybe even chips....with salt and vinegar...mmmmmmm

Totesamazeballs · 06/09/2013 19:37

And I know what you mean about stomach shrinking Sally. I am going for the little but often approach now.

I managed to drink the water at the 12 week scan in the last pregnancy, but they were delayed. So by the time I was called I had to apologise and say my bladder couldn't take it any more. The woman asked if I could just let a little bit out Hmm

Hyperhelpmum · 07/09/2013 08:19

Hi all checking back in to see how you are all getting on. Sorry to see some new names and hear of the horror early days HG tales :( I'm 30 weeks and still nauseous most days. Like being car sick/ mildly hungover all day but a vast improvement on bring bedridden and losing stones and pounds of weight in early days. Having a section in 8 weeks but feels a lifetime away with this constant grind and two children to look after. Can't wait to meet this baby and feel well!

SlinkyB · 07/09/2013 09:03

Congratulations on scan fee! Grin

Sorry to hear of more problems and woe Sally

Apoogies for not posting for ages, but I do read the thread every day and am thinking of all of you sufferers all the time. Loved the lists of things to do when you're all better, remember day dreaming about similar things (esp enjoying drinking water). There is light at the end of the tunnel, although I know you probably can't imagine not being nauseas right now.

Lucinda I'm due 21st January.

Funny how others here are due around the same time as their other children; this baby is due 9 days before ds' s 3rd birthday! Although he was 12 days late, so my edd's have been 18th Jan and 21st Jan. Weird!

Have my scan on Tues and we're hoping to find out sex. I'll be exactly 21 weeks and can't wait.

MurderOfGoths · 07/09/2013 11:25

hyper The relief once you are holding your new baby and feeling better will be worth all of this shit. I hope it flies by for you.

slinky That is mad, wonder how so many of us have managed to end up with similar due dates to our current kids? I was saying to DH that we couldn't have planned it if we'd tried. Wonder if you just reach a fertile peak about a year and 3 months after giving birth?

SlinkyB · 07/09/2013 11:36

Or two years and 3 months in my case Grin I'm just stupidly shit at maths. Dss' s birthday is Nov, then obv we have Christmas, then ds' s birthday in Jan so was trying to plan a new baby Feb onwards...we actually used condoms in March and April Blush then conceived around 3rd May. I know we're very very lucky though, as know so many people struggling to conceive.

Am naively hoping close birthdays = close sibling relationship? Let's hope! At least they can spend their birthday money/vouchers together Smile

LucindaE · 07/09/2013 16:41

I'm glad some eating has been going on.
Everyone I knew a woman with three children born within four days of each other (years between, obviously!) and she used to find it handy when they were little, just one huge party a year.
Meerka Thank you, I'm sure we are all cheering you on, lots of people have had babies much later.
RNJ I've learnt something I didn't know about pointing baby boy's penis' down. Grin Oh dear, I don't remember what I did with them when I was looking after friends' baby boys, but I assume it only means they pee upwards or something...
Totes Do they put people on progesterone to avoid early MC? It must be a bit nerve wracking, hugs.
Champagne Lovely to hear from you with such a nice, encouraging message. I don't think they really need that fullness of bladder, it just makes their job easier, I think.
Hyper Lovely to hear from you too, sorry that nausea still persists, it must be really wearing with two LO's.
Slinky Welcome back and glad you are a bit better. Thanks for lovely post.
I am concerned we haven't heard from Tallyra and a couple of others.
(clucks and flaps).
Usual apologies if I've missed anyone...

Due dates

Slinky 21 January
Sally 23 January
Champagne 11 February
Feekerry 12 February
Jen 15 February
Dilsa 15 March
MOG 31 March

Hey all, sorry I have been AWOL. The lactulose worked a bit but I think I need to keep taking it to maintain the results, kwim?

Still fairly nauseated most of the time but making the effort to eat as that does help a bit. Off for a bit of a nap now... (after a ham and cheese bap)

hugs to all, sounds like some rough times abounding for most. Hopefully it will ease a bit....

Totesamazeballs · 07/09/2013 18:37

Hi all,
Lucinda - the progesterone stops your womb lining shredding. I was v low on it and so needed to have it unfortunately. Didn't need it with DS.

Jen, you need to keep up with the lactulose to keep things running smoothly but glad it has worked!

I had a bad eve and morning but been able to keep some crackers and nesquick down this afternoon. I am considering calling the doc on Monday and asking her for any hydration tips. At what point do they admit you for IV fluids?

I seem to find it easier to eat than drink so ketones come up ok.

ChocChaffinch · 07/09/2013 21:16

oh. my. god.
constipation has hit. thank god Jen you described what to do in the event of fecal impaction. am drinking lactulose like water now. was a bit sneery of it but will be taking it twice a day from now on. :-(
ondansetron is genius at sickness and shite at shite.

Sally8655 · 07/09/2013 22:01

Hi all

I've had an awful day with the nausea and this evening is worse. Not been able to eat or drink much at all. What a change from last night when I was tucking into my fish and peas.

Really weird thing happened to me too, i noticed the inside of my belly button was quite red and had been bleeding a little. Due to my belly being quite large now I had to get a small mirror to see in it clearly and I think it's due to stretching. I googled it but couldn't find anything about this at all. My body is really freaking me out!
Also I can feel the babies head and legs sticking into my sides with my hands and it seems alot higher up than my belly button which is where it should be at 20 weeks.
Is it possible for a baby to grow so rapidly? The hospital did say I was rather large and rounded for my dates.

Totesamazeballs · 07/09/2013 22:34

Hi Sally, sorry today has been bad. i find the evenings just as terrible as the mornings.

You get the linea Nigeria through your belly button which can be dark red/ purple in colour and is completely normal...not sure about bleeding..do you mean it looks like its bleeding underneath the skin?

Regarding baby's position - could he/she be transverse? Are you saying his feet and head are to the left and right of you? They move a lot during the second and early third trimester. Your body will stretch to accommodate even though it feels like you can't stretch anymore. Are you using bio oil on your bump?

DS was transverse for quite a while and I seem to remember it giving me a highish bump. Some people looked like they were carrying low but I was very neat and compact even when he went head down after weeks of flipping exercises and neurotic swimming and the midwife said I was having a small baby! (He was 8lb 6!) I think it was just my body shape and how he chose to lie. He was back to back when he went head down. Hmm

Have you had your 20 week scan yet?

Choc - hope the bowels behave!

Sally8655 · 07/09/2013 22:58

My scan isn't booked till 16th as it was booked well before my dating scan.
Belly button actually bled, not loads mind but its now just rather red and irritated inside. Never had that before.
It's so strange, I feel babys head in my right side and legs at the other. If I put my hands on my belly at both sides, I can feel the baby moving under the skin. It's legs really stick out sometimes.
I don't think I could possible get any bigger. My skin is super stretched and I'm really struggling to support it when I move and try to walk around. I did compare it with other belly bumps online and i look like I'm gona pop any day. If it continues I'm going to end up like the octuplet woman!

jenpatnim · 07/09/2013 23:53

Sally that is so strange that you are so big and I am barely showing - I only look pregnant if you know me and I wear something neat over my tummy! I know I am a couple of weeks behind you but still!

Choc, get on that lactulose! It is sooooo sweet but it seems to work, so let's not have you in a 2 week situation please! Also try and drink water with it, that helps too.

Sally8655 · 08/09/2013 00:51

I wouldn't worry Jen, I'm obviously freakishly strange. Nobody believes I'm only 20 weeks. Even doctors have made comments. I havnt even put on a lb of the weight I lost. Im still more than 2 stone down from pre pregnancy weight and dropping. I'm pear shaped too so my belly was not large before. Like I said, amongst all my symptoms I think I'm a freak of nature. I'm going to see if I can upload a profile pic so you can see!

SlinkyB · 08/09/2013 08:34

Morning all

Sally I was going to say shall we both post bump pictures to our profiles, as we're only 2 days apart? I think I look big, esp in the evenings. Dare not weigh myself. I'll try and do it later! Am sure you're fine.

Totesamazeballs · 08/09/2013 09:01

Sounds like your baby is transverse so stretching you sideways as posed to along your trunk where there is more room. He/ she obviously likes to be cosy! DS preferred that position for a while too!

Not sure what to suggest about belly button other than lots of bio oil over the tummy to help with stretching.

Also perhaps you are carrying a lot of water Sally? My mother said she was huge with me not because I was particularly large but she had tonnes of water.

Sally8655 · 08/09/2013 09:22

Slinky, ill try today and let you know when I have managed it.

Totes, the water is very possible. My scan at 12 weeks was so clear and had alot of what I thought was fluid compared to some I'd seen.

Totesamazeballs · 08/09/2013 10:09

Your baby is probably have a wild time in there and very protected from the outside!

I didn't show until later in my first pregnancy, I think I'd only just started showing at around 20 weeks, and then just suddenly got huge.

Sally8655 · 08/09/2013 11:45

Ok, so I finally set up a minimal profile page, however it won't let me add a second picture. I can a belly photo but it becomes my main profile pic and really don't fancy people seeing just that!
